Kathryn "Kittie" Davis

Kathryn "Kittie" Davis, 62, of Terry died Friday, July 23, 2004, in Billings of a heart attack.

Born April 23, 1942 in Minot, N.D., she was the ninth of nine children of Joseph and Emilia Brasseur. The family lived in various towns in North Dakota and Montana. Mrs. Davis graduated from high school in Terry.

After high school she attended college where she received a teaching degree. She taught school in various country schools throughout this area. She was a very responsible teacher and one year she had to care for all of her students when they were all stranded by a severe snow storm that left them trapped in the school building for several days.

Mrs. Davis loved to travel and see new things. One year she and a couple of girl friends jumped on their motorcycles and toured several mid-eastern states, stopping along the way and working at odd jobs whenever their funds ran low so they could continue on their grand adventure.

In 1967 she and Walt Davis were married in Billings. They lived in Wolf Point for several years. The couple had two daughters, Jody Davis and Roxie Davis. Mr. and Mrs. Davis divorced after several years and she moved back to Terry to live near her sister, Skippy Ban.

The two sisters were very close and they shared a devastating illness. They both developed multiple sclerosis and coped with that illness throughout their lives.

Mrs. Davis bought a home in Terry where she raised her daughters. Her greatest pleasure was watching the growth of those girls. She was so proud of the fact that Jody followed in her footsteps and became a school teacher in Hardin and Roxie became the Controller of Big Horn County Memorial Hospital in Hardin.

Mrs. Davis' interests were broad and varied. Besides her lifelong love of cats, she enjoyed crocheting afghans, reading books of suspense, self-help psychology, and history. For entertainment she liked to play cards and she was a very lethal poker player.

On Monday night, July 19, 2004, she suffered a heart attack after working in her garden at home. She was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Billings. The prognosis was grim and she was on life support until the early morning hours of Friday, July 23. Her daughters, Jody and Roxie, were with her when she died.

Her survivors include her daughters, Jody Davis and Roxie Davis of Hardin; a sister, DeMaris Krahn of Burlington, Wash.; her brothers, Dr. R. Garner Brasseur of Santa Fe, N.M., Duane Bassuer of Ephrata, Wash., Dr. Victor Brasseur of Yakima, Wash., and Philip Brasseur of Spokane, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Emilia Brasseur; her sisters, Aloha Eaton of Billings and Skippy Ban of Terry; and a brother, Dr. Eugene Brasseur.

A memorial service will held on Tuesday, July 27, at 11 a.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Interment will follow in the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Humane Society or to the charity of one's choice.
