Nancy Ellen Hangas
Nancy Ellen Hangas, 89, a former resident of Stevensville, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, in Bakersfield, Calif.
She was born March 22, 1912, in Stevensville, the daughter of Maggie and Sterling Dobbins. She married Walter on Nov. 4, 1933. They had six children, one of whom died at birth.
Ellen devoted her time to her family and home, but did work for a few years for AT&T in Three Forks and Livingston, Mont. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in both Hamilton and Three Forks.
After retirement, the couple moved to Mesa, Ariz. In the fall of 1994 they moved to Bakersfield to be close to family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years; brothers, George, Marvin, Lloyd, and sisters Mary, Ruth, Doris, and Gladys.
She is survived by her sister Frances (Dewey) Gordon of Mesa and children Phil and Joyce Hangas, of Three Forks and Yuma, Ariz., and their children, Julie, Bill, Bob and Connie; Norman and Glenda Hangas, of Sumner, Wash., and their children, Debra and Donald; Karen and Jack Weaver of Bakersfield, and their children Kenneth and Kevin; Richard and Barbara Hangas and their children. Cathy and Marti and daughter Ruth Hangas of Sumner. Ellen also leaves 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
For her family and friends she may be gone, but the love she gave will always be near, like a warm blanket in the cold, or a cool breeze on a hot summer day, comforting.
A religious chapel service will begin at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at the Dowling Funeral Home and Crematory in Hamilton with inurnment to follow at Riverview Cemetery in Hamilton. The Rev. Roger Waid of the First Presbyterian Church in Hamilton will be officiating.

William Chapman
William H. (Bill) Chapman was born March 30, 1945, in Livingston, the son of Harley and Ruth Chap man. He stepped from life here with his family to eternal rest with God on Feb. 15, 2000. Bill loved his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working with wood, gardening, and playing with his grandchildren.
Bill attended school in Livingston and graduated from Park High School in 1963. He worked as an electrician for the Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern in Livingston and Glendive from 1963 until his medical retirement in 1987. Bill married Judy Simpkins on Jan. 15, 1966, in Livingston.
He was preceded in death by both parents and his father-in-law, Frank Simpkins.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of Helena; son, Michael Chapman; daughters, Anne Chapman James and her husband Rusty James, and Leya Chapman, of Helena; grand sons, Jesse and Zachary James, of Helena; brother, Duane Chapman of Livingston, aunt, Grace Beek of Minneapolis, Minn.; mother-in-law, Marie Simpkins of Livingston and special aunt, Sister Mary Simpkin of Wheaton, Ill.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, many wonderful friends, and Buffy, his constant companion.
Vigil service will be con ducted Friday Evening in the Hagler-Anderson Chapel at 7 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at our Lady of the Valley Church in Helena at 11 a.m. on Saturday Feb. 19.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up at Helena Community Federal Credit Union.

Lucille Siegle
Lucille Ceil Siegle, 72, died early Wednesday, Feb.16, 2000. She was one of five daughters born to T. F. `` Gov" Walsh and May Bennett Walsh on June 14, 1927, in Anaconda.
She spent most of her life in Anaconda and four years in Deer Lodge. She graduated from Anaconda High School in 1945. Following high school, she graduated from the Sisters of Charity School of Nursing, Butte Unit, in 1948. In 1954, she received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing Education from Carroll College.
She was a member of the American Nurses Association and the Montana Nurses Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; parents; sisters; Nona Lord and Betty Driscoll: brothers-in-law, Emery Jones and Tom Driscoll.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Kieran and Terry Johnson of Kent, Wash., Chris Siegle Johnson and Frank Johnson of Minneapolis, Minn., Non nie Siegle of Helena, Tara and Bill Gunsch of Belgrade; sisters and brothers-in-law, Fran and Bob Kissell, Marial Jones, and Ed Lord; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call to pay their respects in the Longfellow Finnegan Funeral Home beginning Friday at 2 p.m. The Parish Vigil service will be held at the funeral home at 7 p.m. The funeral will begin in the Longfellow Finnegan Funeral Home Saturday at 10:15 a.m. and proceed to St. Peter Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 p.m. Burial will be in Deer Lodge.
Memorials may be sent to Our Lady of the Rockies or Anaconda Pintler Hospice.
Lorraine Evelyn Lund
Lorraine Evelyn Lund, 70, of Stevensville passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at the Bitterroot Valley Living Center of complications from diabetes.
She was born on July 27, 1932, to Roy and Evelyn Robinson in Duluth, Minn. She was raised and educated in Duluth.
On Nov. 1, 1952, she married Ford A. Lund of Duluth in Houghton, Mich.; they had six children and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Throughout the years they lived in Minnesota, California, Washington, Oregon and Montana, first with the military and then in the plumbing trade. She worked many different jobs in her life, but the thing she loved the most was to create. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, cake decorating, drawing and painting. She could create anything.
With her talent, in 1983, she decided to attend floral school in Billings and in 1984 she opened Lorraine's Floral Design in Stevensville. She loved working and living in the Bitterroot Valley. It was her home.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her brother, John Robinson, and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include her loving husband, Ford, Stevensville; two daughters, Nancy and Rocque Couvillion of Florence and Tammie and David Edgerton of Missoula; four sons, Michael and Cassie Lund, of Imbler, Ore., Jerry Lund and his partner, David Nixon, of Daventry, England, and Thomas Lund and Tim Lund both of Lolo; sister-in-law, Phyllis Robinson of Whitefish and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Other survivors include her good friends, Shirley Cunningham, Rachel Bartlett, Ruth Dewey, Rita Kingsley, Barb and Jerry Roe and Ronda Skaw, and her animals which she loved dearly, especially her St. Bernard, Elsie, and her bobcat, Sue.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville. A reception will follow at St. Mary's Family Center.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Bitter Root Humane Association.
Charles Wayne Kotte
Charles "Chuck" Wayne Kotte, 62, died at his home in Stevensville on Monday, June 16, 2003.
He was born on June 5, 1941, to Clarence and Thelma (Johnson ) Kotte in Moorhead, Minn., and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1959. He married Joan "Penny" Nelson on Aug. 4, 1961.
He had a lifelong career of plumbing, which began at Moorhead Plumbing and Heating in Moorhead, and most recently for Laney's Plumbing and Heating in Fargo, N.D., where he was employed as a master plumber and Garden City Plumbing in Missoula. He also worked doing many plumbing jobs throughout the years to help family and friends.
Chuck and Penny moved to the Stevensville area in 1996, where they built their "home on the hill." Chuck was an avid hunter of elk, deer, antelope and wild game birds. He also enjoyed fishing all year long. He especially enjoyed his annual deer hunt in Wyoming with his family at the Smith Ranch.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Penny, of Stevensville; his two sons, Peter Kotte and Mike (Theresa) Kotte all of Fargo, and his two daughters, Suzanne (James) Carr and Sara (Steve) Simpkins of Las Vegas and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2003, at the Florence-Carlton Church in Florence at 2 p.m. with Rae Hensman officiating.
