Gertrude B. DeBrock, 84, of Stevensville, died at her home on Monday, Feb. 11, 2002. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville.

Mary E. Miller, 77 of Hamilton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospice Center in Hamilton. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
Bill W. Andrews
On the glorious, sunny day of June 14, 2002, Bill W. Andrews returned to his heavenly Father to begin his life of eternity. Bill passed away at St. Patrick Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Bill was born April 25, 1923, and was raised and educated in El Dorado, Kan. He was the son of Edwin and Margaret Andrews who preceded him in death. Bill was a veteran of World War II and fought valiantly for his country as a U.S. Marine.
On March 4, 1946, he married the love of his life, Wilma Mae Pierce. For the next 56 years this union would remain rich in love, honor for each other and in God's words. Bill took special pride in taking care of his family. He was a man who cherished his friends and held them in high regard. His words of wisdom were comforting and enlightening. He was a patient, kind man who spoke only words of kindness and believed in the power of truth.
Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman and kept his loyal dog Misty close at his side. Over the years his favorite pastimes were reading, studying wildlife on his property and gold mining with his good friend Pete, who preceded him in death.
In the early part of their marriage Bill had made his living working in the woods as a lumber jack and a logging woods boss. Then for 25 years Bill and Blondie would be a long-haul truck driving team traveling from Canada to Arizona. Bill made friends in every stop. He said the best part of B+B Trucking Co. was that he could spend every day with his wife.
Bill's family include his wife Blondie Andrews of Hamilton; son Mark and his wife Phyllis Andrews of Corvallis; daughter Sandi and husband Tracy Francis of Pocatello, Idaho; grandchildren Dena and husband Nathan Walz, Wendy Allen, Parris Allen, Mark Allen, Tyler Francis, Billy Andrews, Mark and wife Michelle Andrews, Angela Andrews, Tonya Andrews; great-grandchildren Jordyn, Cole, Chynna Mae, Charla, McKenzie, Seth, Triston and Shalia. Other survivors include sisters Ruby and husband Mel Fritzler and Mary Andrews Balch and brother Bus Andrews, all of El Dorado, Kan.
Bill was preceded in death by seven brothers.
No public services are scheduled. Private family urn placement will take place at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
The family suggests memorials to a charity of the donor's choice.
Charles A. Johnson
Charles A. Johnson, of Hamilton passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at his residence. Arrangements are pending and will be announced by the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
Elaine Harper
Elaine Harper, 52, of Austin, Colo,. died of natural causes at Delta County Memorial Hospital in Delta, Colo., on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002.
Elaine was born on Sept. 10, 1949, to Orville Murray Stover and Marilyn Ann (Pfohl) and spent her childhood in Missoula and graduated from Hamilton High School in 1967.
Survivors include her husband, John Harper. They were married on Sept. 23, 1967. She is also survived by a father, Orville Stover of Hamilton, and a son, Jonathan Harper, of Austin, Colo.; daughters, Rebecca and Chad McIntyre of Woody Creek, Colo., Carla and Spencer Perdew of Sharpsberg, Iowa, Lora and Don Teare of Austin, Colo., and Jennette and Martin Espinoza of LaSal, Utah. She is also survived by a brother, Alan and Marie Stover of Eureka, Calif., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Stover. Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory is handling the arrangements.
Duane Van Meter
Duane Van Meter, 64, who resided near Boulder, passed away at St. Peter's Hospital in Helena on Aug. 3, 2002.
On July 4, 1938, he was born to Raymond Merle Van Meter and Henrietta Isabel (White) at Fayette Memorial Hospital in Indiana.
Duane was raised in Laurel, Ind., and attended Laurel Elementary where he had dreams of coming west to Montana in the first grade to be a cowboy.
He participated in sports and, at 15 years of age, contracted the disease of polio. On April 28, 1955, he graduated from Laurel High School with valedictorian honors.
Three months later at age 17 he moved to Montana where he pursued his love of horses, cattle and English shepherd dogs. He worked for many ranches in the Cardwell and Boulder areas. Duane and a partner went to Mexico several times to bring Corriente cattle to the area for lease and to use in jackpots; he also loved to team rope on favorite horses, Sweet Pea, Pardner, and Pistol with dedicated dogs, Prince, Jack and Jenny close by.
Duane had a great love for the Montana mountains and valleys in which he spent many hours on horseback. He returned to Indiana on occasion but always came "home!"
He married Lela May Nyhart and adopted children. Blaine and Jimilece. Two daughters. Duana and Chaini. were born to this marriage. They were divorced after 17 years.
His parents preceded him in death. Survivors besides children and grandchildren are sisters, Virginia Kunze of Connersville, Ind.; Margaret Purcell of Yuma, Ariz., and brother, Charles Van Meter of Blooming Grove, Ind. Cremation was handled by K. & L. Mortuary.
Olin F. Curtis
Olin F. Curtis, 90, passed away in the early morning Sunday June 22, 2003, at the Valley View Estates Healthcare Center. Friends and relatives are asked to gather for a graveside service of remembrance that will be held in Olin's memory, Wednesday, June 25, 2003 at 3 p.m. at the Lone Pine Cemetery in Darby. Ronald Brothers of Dowling Funeral Home and Crematory 415 S. Second St. Hamilton 363-1111 is caring for the family.
Roy F. Stemman
Roy F. Stemman, 84, passed away June 23, 2003, in Stevensville. Roy was born on Dec. 11, 1918 at Stevensville to Herman and Bertha Hurschman Stemman. He received his education at the Upper Burnt Fork School.
They resided on their ranch which is near the McIntyre Ranch and later sold it in 1971.
They then purchased in July 1971 the ranch on Middle Burnt Fork where he has since resided. He milked cows for 35 years and sold cream to John Howe Creamery for many years. He also raised White Park and Polled Herefords and among some people who knew him, he was a cattle whisper.
He was very active in the farming and ranching community. At one time, to revive the Bitter Root Stockgrowers, he donated a White Park heifer to be given away in a drawing for those who joined or renewed their membership in the organization. It is a tribute that will be continued.
He was very dedicated to the Farm Bureau and hosted many of their picnics. He was also a member of the Bitter Root Stockgrowers, AAA of Montana, AARP, and the 2nd Amendment Task Force and honorary member of the Montana Sheriffs and Peace Officers Assoc.
Roy leaves this life for a cowboy paradise in the sky. He leaves behind his many friends who loved him very much. His memory will live on for many years to come.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Herman in 1988.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Whitesitt Funeral Home. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Riverside Cemetery at Stevensville Friday at 10:30 am. A potluck Reception with a Memorial Tribute will follow at the American Legion Hall.
Memorials maybe made to the Yellowstone Boys Ranch or donors choice.
