Beryl L. Keil
Beryl Lucille Keil, 97, died Feb. 11, 2001, at the Gallatin Rest Home in Bozeman.
She was born March 9, 1903, in Beatrice, Neb., to Charles and Lydia (Fisher) Lewis.
She married the man with whom she would spend 59 years of her life, Robert "Bob" Keil, in Livingston. Beryl remained in Bozeman the rest of her life. Her life revolved around her family and her many friends.
She is survived by her son, Donovan Keil of Bozeman; and grandson, Dennis Perkins of Fort Myers, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Beryl Lucille; brothers: Harlan Lewis and Fordyce Lewis; and sister, Bernice Frazier.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel. Interment followed in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Meals On Wheels, c/o Bozeman Senior Center, 807 N. Tracy Ave., Bozeman 59715; or to a charity of choice.
Robert L. Brown
Robert Louis Brown, 67, died at home on Feb. 13, 2001, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born Oct. 25, 1933 in Jordan, to Homer C. and Florence (Mickus) Brown. He grew up on a ranch outside of Jordan, and graduated from Garfield County High School.
He moved to Billings in 1953, where he met his best partner, best friend, and love of his life, Karen Olson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957. Following his discharge from the service, he and Karen were married Nov. 9, 1957.
Bob worked in Billings as a salesman for an auto parts store. The couple moved to Bozeman in 1977, where Bob opened his own business, Big Sky Auto Supply. He retired in May 1997.
Bob enjoyed camping, fishing and working on his yard. He was known around the neighborhood as "the gardening man." He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 18, and member of Christ the King Lutheran Church. He truly loved his family. He was a very loving husband and father, and a very special grandfather - his grandchildren were his life.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Debbie Upton, and daughter, Tammy (Carl) Henrich, all of Bozeman; son, Steven L. (Thelma) Brown of San Diego, Calif.; grandchildren: Kristina and Kyle Upton, and Todd Henrich, of Bozeman; and Christopher and Jonathan Brown of San Diego; brother, Charles Brown of Three Forks; sister, Betty Regan of Federal Way, Wash.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregory in August 1983; and brothers, Donald and Frank.
Funeral services were held at Saturday, February 17 at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel. Interment followed in Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Edna Mae Gillespie
Edna Mae Gillespie, 92, died Feb. 13, 2001, at her home near Three Forks, where she has lived for more than 50 years, a mile from where she was born on Oct. 30, 1908, to Eldor and Birdie (Burrell) Olsen at her Grandma Burrell's home west of Logan.
She grew up in the Horseshoe Hills east of Clarkston and went to school in Pole Gulch until the fifth grade, when her family moved to Logan. She finished grade school and two years of high school at Logan, and graduated from Manhattan High School in 1926.
She met her husband, John, at Trident, where he worked at the cement plant and she helped her mother run the hotel. They were married on June 15, 1935, and moved to the ranch on Carpenter Lane in 1940.
Edna liked the outdoors, dogs, horses, and farming. She broke her own horses and would rather farm and ranch than almost anything else. She lived the life she wanted to live and the way she wanted to live it.
Edna was a member of the Progress Rebekah Lodge No. 74 of Three Forks, associate member of the Onyx Lodge of the Rebekah of Manhattan, Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. of Three Forks, Headwaters Area Historical Society of Three Forks, and the Sons and Daughters of the Gallatin Pioneers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Eldor and Birdie; and her three sisters, Enid, Lena and Georgie.
Edna is survived by her son, Richard Gillespie of Helena, and a granddaughter, Erin Gillespie of Boston.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at K & L Mortuary Chapel in Three Forks. Interment followed in Sunset Memorial Cemetery near Belgrade. Memorial contributions may be made to the Historical Society of Three Forks or to Headwaters Heritage Museum.
Cecelia "Cela" Johnston
Cecelia "Cela" H. Johnston, formerly of Bozeman, died peacefully Feb. 12, 2001 at Puget Sound Care Center in Olympia, Wash.
She was born March 8, 1918, in Helena, to Peter and Libby Hartman. The family moved to Bozeman where Cela graduated from Holy Rosary High School and then attended beauty school.
She married Roy L. Johnston, July 31, 1946. Cela worked at First Security Bank for a number of years and then became a stay-at-home wife and mother. Her family was always very important to her, and she was blessed with a tight-knit family. She was always there for her family, as well as her many friends.
She was very loving and caring. She spent hours crocheting nylon net scrubbers. Anyone who touched her life no doubt has a scrubber or two. She was active in Campfire Council, Extension Club and the American Legion Auxiliary.
After the death of her husband, Roy, Cela moved to Lacey, Wash., to be near her daughter, Netra Backman, who has been so good to her and has gone the extra mile in giving Mom tender loving care.
Three daughters survive her, Lynn (Al) Frieze of Boise, Idaho, Netra (Gary) Backman and Debbie Goedecke of San Diego, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Rick (Tiffani) Backman of Olympia, Wash., Kari Backman of Tacoma, Wash., Rob (Chelsa) Backman of McCleary, Wash., Karen (Brett) Lolley of Nampa, Idaho, Tammi Frieze of Denver, Colo., Brandee Goedecke of Great Falls, Katie Goedecke of San Diego, and Megan Goedecke of San Diego; one great-grandson, Brett Backman of Olympia, Wash.
She is also survived by her older sister, Wilm (Bob) Morgan of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and a brother, Ray Hartman of Polson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, her husband, Roy Johnston; and five brothers preceded her in death.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Interment followed in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Dalene Crone Wimmer
Dalene Crone Wimmer, 86, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2001, in Mesa, Ariz.
She was born on June 12, 1914, in Scobey. She lived most of her life in Montana except for several years of traveling from one coast to the other with her husband, Earl, while he was in the Navy in World War II.
She worked for the Corps of Engineers, the Bureau of Reclamation and several other government and private firms during the formation years of the Fort Peck dam and the Glasgow Air Force Base.
She took great joy in being able to help the less fortunate and will long be remembered for her zest for life and the tremendous impact she had on her world.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Earl C. Wimmer; a son, Leith D. Wimmer of Glasgow; a daughter, Beverly Finley of Bozeman; two sisters, Nelda Nelson of Arizona, and Beverly Trant of Louisiana; a brother, Boyce Crone of South Dakota; three grandsons, Leith S. Wimmer of Fargo, N.D., Chuck A. Wimmer of Havre, and Mitch Finley of Bozeman; three granddaughters, Kim Page of Kona, Hawaii, Sue Peterson of Glendive, and Sandra Nichols of San Diego, Calif.; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held this summer at a time and place to be announced.
