JOSEPH DEL BALZO
ST. IGNATIUS -- Joseph Pasquale Del Balzo, 19, of St. Ignatius, died June 14, 2004, in Las Vegas. He was born on March 23, 1985, in Las Vegas, to Brenda Black Rouillier. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School in 2003. Survivors include his parents, Brenda and Bill Rouillier (St. Ignatius); stepmother Dena Del Balzo (Las Vegas); brothers James and wife Nychelle Roberts (Las Vegas), Randy Rouillier (Rochester, NH), and Danny Del Balzo (Las Vegas); sister Lisa Roberts (Las Vegas); grandparents Bill and Lorene Black (Aurora, NE); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Services were held June 19 at Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas.

MARY CROW
RONAN -- Mary Crow, 97, of St. Ignatius, died on June 15, 2004, at St. Luke's Extended Care here of age-related causes. She was born June 14, 1907, in Hinsdale, N.Y. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janis Lancaster, and a son, Nelson Moehle, both of St. Ignatius. She is survived by a brother, Robert Wiley (Boynton Beach, FL); three children, Terry Moehle and Judith Moehle (both of St. Ignatius) and Mark Moehle and daughter-in-law Lynn Moehle (both of Eugene, OR); four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Mary enjoyed family and friends, crocheting and playing the piano. Per her wishes, she was cremated and there will be no services.

HERMAN DETERT
RONAN -- Herman Albert Detert of St. Ignatius died on June 20, 2004 in St. Luke's Extended Care here at the age of 95. Visitation takes place until 9 p.m. today (June 24) at the Foster and Durgeloh Funeral Home in St. Ignatius. The funeral will be held on Friday (June 25) at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran in St. Ignatius. A luncheon will follow. Herman was born to Ben and Anna Saggau Detert on Dec. 15, 1908, in Martin County, Minn. He moved with his family to St. Ignatius in 1917. He graduated from Mission High School in 1927. He married Hazel Johnson on June 27, 1948. He helped on the family farm and helped build both the Mission and Crow dams. After the death of his father in 1937, he took over the family farm, went into business with his brother Alvin after WWII, and later went into business raising fish with his sister Marie. He retired from farming in 1997 and moved into St. Ignatius. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of St. Ignatius. He was an avid fisherman and sportsman. He shared some of his life experiences in his books Heartbeat of a Hunter (1986) and Wild, Wooly, and Majestic (1999). He is survived by his wife, Hazel; sons Johnny (Jamie) and Ray (both of Wash.), and James (St. Ignatius); a daughter, Keela, and husband Dave Forthun (Minot, N.D.); a sister, Marie Detert (St. Ignatius); three greadchildren; eight great grandchildren.; a niece, Betsy Harris (Memphis, TN); three great nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents, brothers Harvey and Alvin, sister Verna Lensman, and nephew Jesse Lensman.

JACK HARRISON
ST. IGNATIUS -- Jack Lewis Harrison died on June 12, 2004, while fishing the Jocko Lakes. He was born in Spokane on July 16, 1934, to Carl and Genevieve (Blood) Harrison. Following his formal education in Spokane, he served in the Army. He later married Florence Woods. They made their home in Spokane before moving to St. Ignatius. Jack worked construction all his life. He was a wood carver and historian. He also enjoyed fishing, working in his yard, and following the activities of his family. He was also a coach and mentor. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Darren. Survivors include his wife, Florence (St. Ignatius); sons Sean (Boise) and Guy (Santa Barbara, CA); daughter Kim Orr (St. Ignatius); brother Eugene and sister Joyce Dornbirier (both of Vancouver, WA); five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many cousins. Graveside funeral services were conducted on June 16 at the Pleasant View Cemetery in St. Ignatius where military honors were presented.

CHARLEE HEAD
Charlee Head, 56, died on June 21, 2004, from diabetic complications. He was born on Feb. 25, 1948, in Havre. He was named the first Blackfoot All American in the northwest at the 1968-69 All-Indian Basketball Tournament. In 1975, he married Audra Trombley in the first traditional Blackfeet wedding to be held in 99 years. He obtained a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Missoula and attended graduate school at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. He worked as a sports director and teacher. He enjoyed golfing, basketball, softball, fishing, youth and adult sports. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Weaselhead; sisters, Laverne Eubanks and Arlene Nickerson; his parents, George and Dora Head; and granddaughter Prisma Georgee Rae Grace Weaselhead. Head is survived by his wife, Audra Head; two daughters, Cherene' (Browning), Mary Lee Jones (Pendleton, OR); son Aaron Weaselhead; sister Ann Day; four brothers, George Head (Browning), Donald Head (Fairbanks, AK), Robert Weaselhead (Browning), and Patrick Weaselhead (Missoula); and two grandchildren. A wake was held June 23 at the Glacier Homes Community Center in Browning. Funeral Mass was celebrated on June 25 at Little Flower Parish in Browning with burial at Willow Creek Cemetery.

CALVIN P. HUBBARD
POLSON -- Calvin P. Hubbard died on June 11, 2004, at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center here. He was born to Roy Benjamin and Maude Porter Hubbard on Aug. 7, 1921, in Spokane. They moved to Belgrade where Roy became apprenticed to his father-in-law who had a drugstore there. He graduated from Polson High School in 1938. He attended Montana State Univ. in Missoula, majoring in pharmacy. He married Lois Judson of Cut Bank on Jan. 9, 1943. He was later commissioned a second lieutenant in 1944, and served in England, France and Germany. He was later honorably discharged and promoted to captain before returning to Polson and buying his father's store. He was a commander of the American Legion; and a member of the Masonic Lodge, Montana Opposing Discrimination, Junior Chamber of Commerce, the PTA, the Presbyterian Church, and Polson Outdoors. He also spent more than 30 years on the City County Planning Board. In 1980, he was honored by the state pharmacists association with its highest award, the Bowl of Hygiea of Pharmacy for community services. After selling the pharmacy, Cal continued to work part-time until his retirement in 1983. He was an avid reader, hunter and traveler. He is survived by his wife Lois; four sons and their spouses, Judson and Chris (Murfreesboro, TN), Duncan and Kathleen (Missoula), Kirk and Anne (Reston, VA), and Timothy and Gayle (Rolling Hills Estates, CA); 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; six nephews and one niece. A memorial service was held on June 16 in Polson. Interment with military honors took place at Lakeview Cemetery.

LOIS M. JAMISON
ARLEE -- Lois M. Jamison lost her battle with cancer June 12, 2004. She was born in Mill Sholes, Ill., to Emily and Walter Jackson. She is survived by her mother, Emily Irvin (IL); her daughter, Tempe Holloway (Arlee); and son, O.D. "Sonny" Williams (Bull Lake). Lois was laid to rest on June 16 at the Plains Cemetery in Plains. A dinner to celebrate her life took place on June 20 in Arlee.

NANCYJEAN LAMERE
ARLEE -- NancyJean TwoTeeth LaMere, 72, died on June 6, 2004, at Missoula's St Patrick's Hospital of natural causes. A resident of Box Elder, she and her husband of 43 years, James LaMere, had been spending time in Arlee. She was raised in Great Falls and Helena and on the Rocky Boy Reservation. She was a member of the Chippewa-Cree Tribe there. She was an avid stickgame player. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Curtis Alexander; a daughter, Vera TwoTeeth; two sisters, Mary Jane TwoTeeth and Tootsie Rider; five brothers, Robert, James, Joseph and Eddie TwoTeeth and Ned SunChild; a grandson and a great granddaughter. Survivors include her husband; two sons, William Weaselboy and Darrin Ameline (both of Rocky Boy); four daughters and their spouses: Violet and Mike Norris (Helena), Sara and Chuck LaFountaine (Helena), Carmie LaMere and Rob Williams (Helena), and Alvina Ameline (Billings); her brother and his wife, Chuck and Sara TwoTeeth (Arlee); 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. A wake was held at the Arlee Community Center. Funeral services were conducted there on June 9 with interment following in the Resurrection Cemetery in Helena.

ROLAND MORRIS SR.
RONAN -- Roland Morris Sr. died at his home on June 9, 2004, of natural causes. He was born on July 1, 1945. A member of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe at Leech Lake, he grew up in Cass Lake, MN. He attended college in Haskell, KS, and become an architectural draftsman. He practiced the trade of architecture for a few years before becoming a self-employed upholsterer. He moved his family to Ronan, where he and wife Lisa created Montana's first patient transportation service He was an active opponent much federal Indian policy, believing that it harmed Indian people. He was president of All Citizens Equal, and was a board member and vice-chairman of the Citizens Equal Rights Alliance and the secretary of the Citizens Equal Rights Foundation. He and his wife founded the Christian Alliance for Indian Child Welfare. He recently attended a year of training at the Living Faith Bible College in Canada. He and his family went on mission trips to both Canada and Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Lisa), and nine children living in their family home in Ronan: Thomas, Therese, Ronald, Natasha, Melissa, Timothy, Ernie, Sarah and Ryan; children from previous marriage, Roland Jr. "Doc" (Monticello, MN), and Marie, Sheila and Shannon (all of Minneapolis); brothers Harry Morris and Steven Jones; and sisters Clara Smith, Bernice Hurd, Sharon Goose and Christine Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Susan Jones; four brothers, Thomas Morris, Robert Jones, Martin Jones and Wallace Morris; and five sisters, Loretta Smith, Caroline Jones, Frances Jones, Barbara Jones and Alvina Jones. Funeral services were conducted in Ronan on June 13, and on June 15 in Minnesota, with interment following at the Prince of Peace Cemetery.

ROYAL MORRISON
POLSON -- Royal Lee Morrison, 84, died at St. Joseph Hospital here on June 25, 2004. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Polson); daughter Diane Morrison Tompkins (Polson); son Gregg Morrison and his wife Nancy (Moscow, ID); grandchildren Tanner Tompkins, Connor Tompkins, Ryan Morrison and Tyler Morrison; and Max the dog. A graveside memorial service was held on July 2 at the Lakeview Cemetery in Polson.
