FILLIS GREEN
KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Fillis Green died here on Nov. 25, 2003. Fillis was born and raised in Ronan. She was artistic, well read and loved to dance and golf. In 1944 she graduated from Mission High School in Ronan. She worked for the Yakima Fruitgrowers Association, Yakima School District and for Boise Cascade. She retired in 1986. She and Lyle Green were married in 1971. Before he died in 1990, they enjoyed traveling together. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and a volunteer teaching assistant for Head Start. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; brother Bob Blush (Ronan); sister Della Marden; and mother May Glandon (Yakima). She is survived by her children and their spouses, Gary and Molly Brison (Lakewood, CO), Barbara and Fred Kirk (Green Valley, CA), Gloria Reynolds (Kennewick, WA), Terrie and John Greiner (Kennewick) and Cyndi and Scott Powell (Medford, OR); her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Ardell Blush (Oak Harbor, WA); sister-in-law Irene Blush (Polson); 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted on Nov. 28 in Yakima. Memorials may be made to the Tri-Cities Chaplaincy Hospice, 2108, W. Entiat Ave, Kennewick, WA 99336.

LILLIAN E. HARTUNG
PABLO -- Lillian E. Hartung, 74, died on Nov. 19, 2003, at St. Luke Hospital in Ronan from natural causes. She was born on April 27, 1929 at Polson, to Camille and Mary Bisson. Lillian lived her entire life on the Flathead Reservation, and her most joyful time was cutting Christmas trees and working in her garden. She also loved hiking. She was a member of the Conf. Salish and Kootenai Tribes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dutch, in May of 1999; her sisters Billie, Geraldine, Jeanette and Helen; and a brother, Anthony. She is survived by her children, Billie Hartung, Leila Hartung, Joan Hartung Raymond, Sherry (Dave) Cheney and Mark (Theresa) Hartung; siblings Alice, Maryann, Juanita, Camille and Raphael; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ronan on Nov. 22. Burial followed at Ronan Cemetery.

JACK HEGLIE
POLSON -- Jack C. Heglie, 85, succumbed to complications from bladder cancer at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula on Nov. 20, 2003 He was born April 24, 1918, in Portland, Ore., the only child of Catherine M. (Collins) and John C. Hegli(e). Jack received his formal education from Kenton Grammar School, Jefferson High School, the Univ. of Oregon and the Univ. of Washington. During World War II, he worked at Boeing, where he met Emily Lucille Jorgenson of Polson, whom he married on June 26, 1943. After the war Jack worked for Diamond Match Co. In 1971, he moved to Polson, where he worked in real estate, joining and eventually becoming a partner with Karlsgodt (now Edgewater) Realty before his second retirement. He once served as president of Western Montana Appraisers and as treasurer of the Republican Central Committee. He was a life member of the local Elks Lodge (BPOE 1695), where he served in various official capacities with the House Committee as well as held the office of treasurer. He enjoyed eating out, smoking cigars, shooting pool at the Elks with friends and tackling daily crossword puzzles. He was preceded in death by his father in 1925, his mother in 1980 and his wife of 50-plus years in 1998. He is survived by a son and a daughter: John (Polson) and "Deede" (Sonora, CA); and two grandchildren. A memorial service was held on Nov. 25 at the New Life Christian Center in Polson. A graveside service followed at Lakeview Cemetery in Polson.

ROBERT LYNN
POLSON -- Robert E. Lynn, 75, died at his home here on Nov. 8, 2003, of emphysema. Bob was born on Oct. 31, 1928, in Butte to Elmer and Ethel Dewey Lynn. He spent his childhood years in Missoula and Polson. He joined the Navy during World War II. After his discharge he returned to Missoula, where he attended the Univ. of Montana. In 1948 he married Harriet Grace Higbie. They moved to Valley View south of Polson, where they farmed. He then went on to manage the Dewey Lumber Co. In later years he worked as a sawyer. Harriet preceded him in death in 1975. Bob was very active in Polson Outdoors Inc. and served as a hunter safety instructor for more than 25 years. He was a private pilot and loved the outdoors. In 1978 Bob married JoAn Ellenwood. They resided on the west shore of Flathead Lake, where they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Oct. 28. He is survived by his wife, JoAn; sister and brother-in-law Pat and John Stokes; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Dianne Lynn (Kalispell); daughters and sons-in-law Dianne and Pat Swandal (Old Town, ME), Donna and Bob Morigeau (Palmer, AK), Colleen and Howard Myers (Palmer), and Julie Lynn (Polson); and stepdaughter Roxanne Reum and husband Vern (Polson); seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a nephew and three nieces. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

ALVERD MARCURE
CHARLO -- Alverd Richard "Shorty" Marcure of Charlo died on Nov. 7, 2003, in Yuma, AZ. Shorty was born on Oct. 8, 1928, to Allen Joseph and Blanche Rose (Bisson) Marcure. He was raised on the family homestead in Frenchtown. He spent his boyhood years working on the farm. He was an outstanding basketball player at Frenchtown High School, where he graduated in 1946. He also attended Montana State Univ. in Bozeman. On Dec. 4, 1949, he married Ellen Lucille Hilton. When his dad passed away in 1970, Shorty was appointed to fill his position on the board of directors for the Missoula Electric Co-op. He was subsequently elected and continued to serve on the board through the late 1980s. He held several occupations: postmaster, logger, grocery store and road construction company owner. Refurbishing old John Deere tractors, fishing and camping were his great loves. He also enjoyed camping. Shorty is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ellen; children and their spouses: Rick and Linda Marcure (Charlo), Jeanine Marcure-McCarthy (Helena), and Teri and Doug Fisher (Hood River, OR); six grandchildren; his brother, Biz Marcure; numerous nieces and nephews; and many special friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Shorty's name may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, P.O. Box 329, Frenchtown, MT 59834; or Charlo High School Boys and Girls Basketball Program, P.O. Box 10, Charlo, MT 59824. Cremation has taken place and at Shorty's request no services will be held.

AUGUSTINE MATHIAS
ELMO -- Augustine Antoinette "Girl" Mathias died at her home here on Nov. 18, 2003. She was born Aug. 27, 1956, in St. Ignatius, to Tony and Vivian Mathias. She attended Intermountain College in Utah and Southwestern Indian Polytechnical Institute in Albuquerque, N.M. She later attended Salish Kootenai College. She was a true believer in her Kootenai tradition, participating in social gatherings and Kootenai ceremonies. She also enjoyed photography, cosmetic sales, beading, hunting and powwows. She is survived by her son, Baptiste "Bono" Mathias (Elmo); sisters and their spouses, Francine and Joe Dupuis (Pablo) and Marcia and Rob Carman (Ronan); grandmothers Adeline Mathias (Dayton) and Helen Charlo (Elmo); aunties Catherine Hamel (Pablo) and Margaret (Ken) Friedlander (Bonners Ferry, ID); her "best bud," Linda Michel; her dog, Mak; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Antoine and Vivian (Charlo) Mathias; a grandfather, Chief Baptiste Mathias; and foster mother, Annie Keenan Espinoza. Traditional wake services began on Nov. 19 in Elmo Hall. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Nov. 21 in Elmo. Burial followed at the Dayton Cemetery.

LARRY OLSON
POLSON -- Larry Olson, 50, died in a vehicle accident on Nov. 12, 2003. He was born to Oscar and Marlys Olson of Kalispell. His family includes his wife, wife Debbie Olson, and son Sebastin Olson (both of Polson); Les and Patricia Olson (Elizabeth, CO), Alan and Miriam Olson (Kalispell); and ten nieces and nephews. A celebration of Larry's life was held on Nov. 17 in Kalispell. His pilot buddies are planning a fly-over in his remembrance at a later date.

RAYMOND RUNG
RONAN -- Raymond K. Rung, 87, died on Nov. 14, 2003, at St. Luke Community Hospital here of natural causes. He was born in Moore on Nov. 4, 1916, to Adam and Opal Rung. Ray and Grace Collins were married on Oct. 26, 1936, in Helena. They farmed and ranched in Buffalo until 1961, when they moved to Ronan. They ranched in the Round Butte area until retiring. Ray then sold real estate for Maxwell Real Estate for a short time. He is survived by his wife; daughter Joan Gordon (Coeur d'Alene, ID); two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lorraine Chevy, and brother Robert. Memorial services were Nov. 20 at Shrider's Mortuary Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Washington State Chapter, 14310 Greenwood Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98133.
