Rosalie Eleanor Preston
Rosalie Eleanor Preston, 92, died at Community Memorial Hospital in Missoula on Sunday, June 22, 2003.
She was born in Belgrade on April 5, 1911, and was the daughter of William and Rosa (Stevens) Hale. She married Charlie N. Preston on April 25, 1936, at Bozeman. The couple ranched at Bozeman until September 1956, at which time they moved up Lolo Creek where they ranched until 1960. They moved to Missoula for a short time but farming and ranching was their life. They bought a potato farm at Corvallis and farmed there until retiring in 1964.
They moved to Missoula but found town life was not for them! They purchased a small acreage in Lolo in 1969 and Rosalie lived there until moving to Missoula in 2000, where she has since lived with her daughter and son-in-law.
Rosalie loved her children, their spouses, her grandchildren and she loved each one unconditionally. She was also a talented artist, painting for her family and friends until her eyesight failed. She loved gardening and was well known for her beautiful flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie in 1976, her parents, and sisters Mildred Todd and May Howell.
Survivors include her son Gary (Carol) Preston, grandchildren Lynnette, Charlie and Kyle (Nancy) Preston, great grandchildren MacKenzie and Alex. she is also survived by her daughter Sandra (Calvin) Bay and grandchildren Brian (Kristin) Bay and great granddaughters; Maria Bay and Brenda (Jesse) King and great, great granddaughter Olivia. step-grandchildren; John (Cindy) Walker, Bill (Robyn) Walker and Mary Ann Smith and seven great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at the Whitesitt Funeral Home in Stevensville on Thursday, June 26, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Graveside Services will be held at Sunnyside Cemetery on Three-Mile Road on Friday, June 27, 2003 at 2 p.m. A reception will follow at the Three-Mile Fire Department.

Louise Hayes Collins
Louise passed away on June 18, 2003 at approximately 11:30 a.m. She had muscular dystrophy for about 50 years and had a stoke in 1998 which confined her to a wheel chair in recent years.
Louise was born at Grantsdale on Jan. 24, 1920. She lived with her parents on their family farm until she was 8 years old. The family then moved to Hamilton where her Dad opened a leather goods store. He was a saddle maker by trade.
She had been the only living member of her family since 1955 when her brother Val died. Her brother, Roy, died in 1934, her dad in 1942 and her mother in 1950.
She was married on June 29, 1940 to Alvin Collins. Alvin and Louise moved to Burbank, Calif. where she spent five wonderful years. She worked for Albert Shutz while there and for nine years at Porter Foods in Missoula. Alvin and Louise returned to Montana where they were blessed with three sons. Her family was her life.
Louise is survived by her husband, Alvin; her sons, Gary and his wife Pam, Bruce and his wife Linda, and Roger and his wife Tracie; 10 grandchildren, LaRae and Kurt, children of Gary and his first wife Bonnie Roepe, and Chad, child of Bruce and Linda, Clinton, Aaron, Brett, Jerod, Chance, Cale, sons of Roger and Tracie; as well as two step-grandchildren, Ryan and Nathan Fullerton; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Kingsbury, Austin Kingsbury, Logan Roepe, Rianne Collins and Katelyn Johnson; and three step-great-grandchildren, Michael Cote and Jordana and Luke Fullerton.
Graveside service was held at Sunset Memorial Cemetery on June 23, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. with the reading of "Crossing of the Bar" by Tennyson. Following the service family and friends gathered at the home of Gary Collins. Visitation was at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, June 22 and Monday, June 23.
Donations to Camp Make-A-Dream are requested in lieu of flowers.
Forrest Hodge
Forrest "Don" Hodge, 85, passed away April 5, 2003, in Hamilton at the hospice center at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Don was born in Sugar City, Idaho, on Oct. 28, 1917, to Abram R. and Cora Dalling Hodge.
He attended schools in Sugar City and graduated from high school in Belle Forche, S.D.
Later, he attended the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City.
He was married to Ada Catherine Winroth, and she preceded him in death in 1979.
In 1980 he married Pattie Gene Briggs in Los Angeles, Calif., and they made their home in Orange County, Calif. for 10 years.
Don was in the U.S. Army from 1940 until 1945 and while stationed in Riverside, Calif., was assigned to army intelligence where he worked for a division of the OSS, forerunner to the current CIA. He spent the last two years of World War II in Europe, mostly in France and Germany.
After being discharged from the Army, he went to work in Gold Hill, Ore., later moving to Grants Pass where he worked for several years at the Grants Pass Feed and Seed store, a retail store for feeds, seeds and farm machinery. The store was purchased by Centennial Mills and he remained there as manager until 1955. Don was then transferred to Missoula as manager of the Misco Mills division that operated feed mills in Missoula and Bozeman. Misco Mills had a flour mill in Hamilton, and it was Don's first contact with the flour milling business. He was then transferred to Eugene, Ore., Wenatchee, Wash., and Spokane, then as sales manager he went to the San Francisco office. In 1972 he was transferred to Los Angeles, as manager of the Centennial Mills flour mill, the largest flour mill west of the Mississippi.
Don retired in 1982 and in 1989 bought a house in Hamilton, where he moved the following year.
He loved fishing, gardening, riding his all-terrain vehicle, spending time with his friends and family, and after moving to the Bitterroot, he enjoyed snowmobiling as long as he was able. He was a member of the Hamilton Elks Lodge, and the Hamilton Eagles. He also enjoyed music and was a member of the Five Valley Accordion Association.
He is survived by his wife, Pattie, of the family home in Hamilton; a son, Michael, and his wife, Cecelia, of Ft. Mohave, Ariz.; a sister, Dorothy, and her husband, Berkeley Parkinson, of Rexburg, Idaho; two brothers, LaMar and his wife, Joy Hodge, of Roy, Utah, and Max and his wife, Ruth Hodge, of Albuquerque, N.M. Other survivors include two stepchildren, Betty Perrault of Tujunga, Calif., and Michael Briggs of Sun Valley, Calif., 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, Ada, he was also preceded in death by a sister, LaFaye, and two brothers, Udell (Bud) and Robert A. Hodge.
A memorial service will held Thursday, April 10, at 2 p.m. at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
Private family urn placement will take place at a later date.
The family suggests memorials be made to the hospice at Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital, 1200 Westwood Dr., Hamilton, Mont., 59840, or charity of the donor's choice.
Donna Eggleston
Donna Eggleston, 65, passed away in the morning Friday, April 4, 2003, in the emergency room at the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital in Hamilton.
Born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, on Friday, May 28, 1937, was the daughter of Dewitt and Ivy (DePew) Upchurch.
Donna attained her early education and graduated from high school in Rathdrum, Idaho. She then achieved an associate degree in psychology from North Idaho College, and she continued to pursue her aspirations and completed with a licensed practical nurse degree from Spokane Community College.
Donna married Dr. Richard Eggleston in 1972 in Coeur d'Alene.
She enjoyed reading, flowers, collecting porcelains and depression glass, traveling, antique collecting and music. She loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She had a great love for Jeff Gordon and Nascar racing.
For 35 years, she pursued a career in long-term nursing care, and cared for individuals in Coeur d'Alene, Kansas City, Missouri and Richmond, Ind. She retired in December of 2000 due to impaired health
She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jane; brother, Jim; daughter, Shirley, and grandson, Sean Wayne.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Richard (Dick) Eggleston at the family home in Hamilton; sons, Craig and spouse, Julie, of Lee's Summit, Mo.; John and spouse, Christy, of Seattle; Edward of Spokane, Wash.; Jerry of Wichita, Kan.; daughter, Linda Brower of Hamilton; son, Michael, and spouse, Megan, of Phoenixville, Pa.; daughters, Lisa Ann of Spokane; Lisa M. and spouse, Rob Patterson, of Independence, Mo.; son, Patrick, and spouse, Amy, of Lauson, Mo.; daughters, Amy of Overland Park, Kan., Ann and spouse, Joe, of Chester, N.Y.; son, David of Branson, Mo.; daughter, Kathy, and spouse, Shawn Bledsoe, of Bowling Green, Ohio. Other survivors include grandchildren Seth, Bonny, JoAnn, Caithin, Donovan, Rafferty, Cole, Zachery, Darian, Skyler, Summit and Khalil; along with her great-grandchildren Bailey, Camille and Ryan.
A vigil service will be held Tuesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. at the Dowling Funeral Home in the chapel in Hamilton. The Rev. John Darragh will officiate.
The viewing will follow with the family present from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 9 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hamilton. The Rev. John Darragh will be the celebrant.
Cremation will follow the rites at the Dowling Crematory.
A private family committal service will take place at a later date.
The pallbearers will be Craig, Jerry, Patrick, Rob, Tom, John, Shawn and Seth.
