Anna M. Sikula
Anna M. Sikula, 85 of Hamilton, passed away Friday April 27, 2001, at Discovery Care Centre in Hamilton.
Anna Marie Shimko Sikula was born in Daisytown, Penn., the seventh child of Paul Shimko and Rose Vataha, on April 16,1916. Her family moved and settled in Akron, Ohio. She spent her childhood helping her mother raise twelve children. She completed tenth grade and began working to help support her family.
She married John Sikula in 1939. Together, in Mogadore, Ohio, they developed a family-run business which resulted in seven greenhouses in the backyard and a shop in Akron. Anna's middle years were spent working in the greenhouses and raising five children.
After her five children were all raised and through college, Anna sold the family home in Mogadore, Ohio. She spent years traveling and living with each of her children. During her years of travel, she developed many life-long friendships. She settled into Hamilton in 1988, living near her daughter Anna's family and friends. She spent her last years at the Discovery Care Centre where she was happy and involved with flower decorating, attending church services, writing many letters and helping others. At the age of 84, she was recognized as the Centre's Resident of the Year and she was first runner-up for Montana Nursing Home Resident of the Year. The Sikula family is grateful to the Centre staff and residents for the loving care, friendship she had there.
Anna passed away quietly, at age 85 and joins in heaven her husband, John, and eldest child, Gerald.
Surviving family members are four children: twin sons - John Sikula, Ashland, Ohio and Andrew Sikula, Charleston, W.V.; daughter, Anna Sikula-Miller, Hamilton and Michael J. Sikula, Belleview, Fla. Daughters-in-law ,Carolyn Sikula, Judy Sikula, and Charlotte Sikula; son-in-law, Thomas Miller; three sisters, Rose Mehok, Akron, Ohio, Marjie Richardson, Barberton, Ohio, and Mary Gergosky, Akron, Ohio; two brothers, Paul Shimko and Frank Shimko, Akron, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Hilda Shimko, Bernice Shimko, and Julia Young; 15 grandchildren and three great grand children, many nieces and a very extensive family.
Anna smiled and laughed easily and was loved by many people. Anna returns home to Mogadore, Ohio, to be buried beside her husband and to reside in peace in heaven.
A funeral mass will be conducted at St. Michael's Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2001. Interment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in Mogadore, Ohio, under the direction of the Hopkins Lawver funeral home in Mogadore, Ohio.
The family suggests memorials to Discovery Care Centre, 601 N. 10th., Hamilton, MT 59840. Local arrangements are under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
John Coberland Crump
John Coberland Crump, son of Frank and Elsie Crump, was born Nov. 10, 1936, in Altoona, Penn., and passed away at 9 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001 in Marshfield, Mo., at the age of 64 years, four months and 25 days.
After moving from Altoona, he spent his early years in Greenfield, Ind.. He and his family later moved to Sanger, Calif., where he graduated with honors from Sanger High School. His special interest was studying history.
John was an ardent sportsman and hunter. For many years, while based in Darby, he was an outfitter and guide for gun and bow hunters. John joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Alaska before it became a state.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Twila Justice.
Survivors include his mother, Elsie Crump, of Marshfield; a daughter, Rachelle Dodge, of Boise, Idaho; two uncles, Lester Horn and Glenn Horn, both of Seymour; an aunt, Ruth Locher, of Cleveland, Ohio; a special friend, Noni Bonney, of Marshfield; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were Monday, April 9, 2001, in Fraker Funeral Home, Marshfield, Mo., with the Rev. Jerry Cooney officiating. Burial, with military honors conferred by the Webster County Memorial Association, was in the Fordland Cemetery, Fordland, Mo.
Sharon R. Hawkinson
Sharon R. Hawkinson, 56, passed away Sunday, April 29, in Missoula at St. Patrick Hospital.
Wake service is scheduled for Friday, May 4 at St. Francis Catholic Church at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church.
Arrangements are under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel.
Ethel Jane Lehman
Ethel Jane (Chaffin) Lehman of Hamilton, 80, passed away Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at the Valley View Healthcare Center. Born in Corvallis, Mont., on Thursday, April 28, 1921, she was the daughter of John Milton and Annie Ethel (Grenfell) Chaffin.
She attained her early education in Corvallis. She was a homemaker most of her life, but after the children were raised, she took a position as the assistant director at the Masonic Retirement Home in Des Moines, Wash. The residents at the retirement home really appreciated the care and attention that she gave them. At one point, she had to keep her vacations a secret because the residents would get so upset before she would leave.
Ethel really enjoyed reading, styling and arranging hair, spending time with her grandchildren, telling jokes with a sweet sense of humor and being around people.
Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold "Pete" Lehman and two daughters, Patricia Jan Lehman and Janis Lynn (Lehman) Mathena.
Survivors include her son, Milton Lehman and his spouse Ruth Perez of Costa Rica; two grandchildren, Michael Lehman of Portland, Ore., and Jason Lehman of Korea and two sisters, Vi Gabirealt of Mount Lake Terrace, Wash., and Bertha Korman of Hamilton.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Corvallis Cemetery.
Dowling Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with service arrangements.
Mary Wanda Walks
Mary Wanda Walks, 90, of Hamilton, died Monday, Aug. 13, at home near Hamilton. "Montana Mary" was born on April 8, 1911, in Fromberg the daughter of William and Ethel Auker.
She married Robert T. Walks in September of 1931 and had seven children. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1966, and two children, Robert and Diana who both passed away in 1999. She lived many years near Whitehall and most recently in Hamilton.
She is survived by the following children: three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald E. and Hue Walks, Palm City, Fla., Stephen and Betty Walks of East Helena, and David and Linda Walks of Wallace, Idaho; two daughters and sons-in-law, Birdie and Fran Sherman of Hamilton and Sylvia and Mike Baker of Whitehall. Other survivors include her brother and sister-in-law Wally and Erna Auker of Seattle. She also has numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mary will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving mother and grandmother, a kind and giving friend, and lover of children and animals.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated, Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 2 p.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Hamilton with the Rev. John Darragh presiding. Private family interment will take place at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Butte.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the charities of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
Doris G. Frinzely
Doris G. Frinzely, 88 of Corvallis passed away Monday, June 23, 2003, at Valley View Estates in Hamilton.
She was born Dec. 17, 1914, in Pollock, La., to the late Charles Clifford and Fanny Josephine Murphy Goree. Doris was raised and educated in Louisiana.
She married William "Bob" Frinzely on Dec. 23, 1936, in Louisiana. The couple lived in several areas while her husband served in the U.S. Navy. They were both in Hawaii at the time Pearl Harbor was attacked.
Following Bob's retirement in 1969, the couple moved to the Bitterroot and settled on Hamilton Heights Road.
Doris was a member of the Star of the East Chapter #300 - El Cahon, CA., and the Baptist Church.
Surviving include her son Bill Frinzely of Reno, Nev.; daughter Margaret Martin of Corvallis; grandchildren Aimee, Jennifer, and Will; great grandchildren Danielle, Jason, Alexia and Rich.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, at Corvallis Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
