EILEEN HODGES
CHARLO -- Eileen Hodges, 89, died on Feb. 10, 2002, at her home here. Eileen and her twin brother, Ernest, were born Feb. 3, 1913, in Ravalli to S.R. and Lulu Dickson Logan. She married Lawrence Hodges on June 12, 1938, in Chicago. He died in 1994. Eileen was also preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Herma Biermann; and Ernest. She is survived by her daughter, Susan, and son-in-law John Gardner (Charlo); her son, Rae, and daughter-in-law Mandy (Charlo); three grandchildren; a half-sister, Katherine Tugendhat (VA); and a half-brother, Frank Logan (CA). (Funeral and burial arrangements were not provided.)

GRANT HOGGE
CHARLO -- Grant Hogge died on May 11, 2002, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula after an extended illness related to cancer. He and his twin sister, Laura, were born in Sugar City, ID, on Feb. 4, 1926, to George John and Laura Eddington Hogge. Grant graduated from Charlo High School in 1944 and married Verna Bauer in 1945. The family lived in Charlo, Missoula and Butte. Grant spent much of his life working for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. He retired from the National Bison Range in 1986 after 33 years as a mechanic and then foreman. He was honored last fall for participating in his 50th buffalo round-up. He was also an avid and accomplished hunter and fisherman and storyteller. Scouting was also a big part of his life. Grant was also an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He is survived by two sisters, Ruth Allred (Hemet, CA) and Rhea Stott (Choteau); five children, Neta Ryan, Lela Roth, Gloria Pendlebury, Vernan Hogge and Louis Hogge; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and their infant daughter, Laura Jennette. A memorial service was conducted in Butte on May 16. Funeral services were conducted on May 18 at the LDS Church in Ronan. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Boy Scouts of America, 820 17th Ave. S., Great Falls, MT 59405; or to Shriners Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 2472, Spokane, WA.

LATEASA HOGGE
ST. IGNATIUS -- LaTeasa Marie Hogge, 19, died on Oct. 12, with her fiance, Christopher James Hodge, from injuries sustained in an auto accident north of Ronan. Teasa was born Jan. 24, 1982, in St. Ignatius to Daniel R. and Judy Hogge. She is survived by her mother and father, Daniel R. and Judy Hogge (St. Ignatius); grandparents Julie Marie Maughan (Ronan) and Elizabeth Lee Hogge (St. Ignatius); brothers and sisters, Lacey Speagle, LeAnn Ashley Hogge, Jeremy Houk, Twyla Rose Hogge, B.J. Robert John Hogge, Katelynn Brianne Hogge and Daniel Hogge (all of St. Ignatius); and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services were Oct. 17 at the Ronan Elementary School gymnasium. Memorials may be made in her name to Lake County Bank, Box 664, St. Ignatius, MT 59865.

RAE HUGHEY
POLSON -- Rae Belle Hughey, 70, died of natural causes at her home on Dec. 23, 2001. She was born Jan. 18, 1931, in Portal, ND, to Stanley and Beulah Town. Survivors include her children, Donna Longone (Erie, OR), Stanley Hughey (Elko, NV), Ken Hughey (Portland, OR), Peggy Woolard (Harrisburg, IL), and David Hughey (Colorado Springs, CO); three brothers, Harvey Town (Polson), Joe Town (Wallowa, OR), and Bill Town (Scottsburg, OR); nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services were held on Dec. 29. Cremation followed and inurnment took place on Dec. 31 at Lakeview Cemetery.

FLORENCE HUNTER
POLSON -- Florence Arlene Hunter, 49, died of natural causes on Oct. 13, 2001, at St. Joseph Hospital here. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lena Matt Orton. Florence is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rene Nicole and Christopher Strahan (Colorado Springs, Colo.); two grandchildren, Ezekiel and Zechariah Strahan (Colorado Springs); her mother, Mary E. West (Polson); her father Clarence E. Hunter (Jocko); brothers and sisters, Alan L. Skaw (Kodiak, AK), Clancey Skaw (St. Ignatius), Richard Hunter (Pablo), Henry West (North Carolina), and Glenda Hunter, Russell Hunter, Lynn Weiss, Jeff Hunter and Shelley Mills (all of Polson); and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Funeral services were Oct. 16.

CISSY IVERSON
HOT SPRINGS -- Cecilia "Cissy" Iverson, 82, died on Aug. 23, 2001, at Clark Fork Valley Hospital in Plains. Cissy was born in Darby, England, where she was also reared and educated. During World War II, she worked in factories in England to support the war effort. In 1945, she married Eugene Zelezny in England. Together they farmed their land in the U.S. and raised their children: Joseph, born in 1948; Robert, born in 1950; and Teresa, born in 1952. Cissy was preceded in death by Eugene and her second husband, Lawrence, as well as her son, Robert. Survivors include a daughter, Teresa (Richard Morton) Zelezny (Camas Prairie); a son, Joseph (Francis) Zelezny (Indiana); one grandson, one great-granddaughter, and two step-grandchildren. Funeral services were Aug. 28.

LEO V. JARVIS
RONAN -- Leo V. Jarvis, 90, died at his home here on Jan. 18, 2002, from natural causes. He was born Sept. 7, 1911, at Middleton, ID, to John W. and Anna (Zimmerman) Jarvis. He married Laura Bennett in 1932 in Challis, ID. They had two children, and were later divorced. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Survivors include his children, Anna Jarvis and son John Jarvis (both of Ronan); eight grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Memorial services were held on Jan. 26. Memorials may be made in Leo's name to the Montana Waterfowl Foundation.

GLENN A. KELLY
MISSOULA -- Glenn A. Kelly, 87, died on Feb. 18, 2002, at St. Patrick Hospital here from Alzheimer's disease. Glenn was born on Nov. 7, 1914, in Kimball, Alberta, Canada, to George A. and Nora F. Kelly. He was reared and schooled in Montana. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl, and a son, Bill. Glenn is survived by his wife, Louise (Arlee); four children and their spouses, Zane and Carol Kelly (Polson), Karen and Gary Young (Milltown), Jean and Larry Burt (Richland, WA), and Kathy Kelly (Arlee); ten step-children; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives including four sisters and their spouses, Wilma Hurd (Alden, IA), Lovie Bailey (Polson), Leah and Calvin Gallaway (Kalispell) and Georgia and Ron Snyder (Deer Park, WA); and two brothers, John Kelly (Westport, WA), and Leo Kelly, and his wife, Fern (Seattle). A memorial service was held on Feb. 22 in St. Ignatius. Inurnment followed in Polson. Memorials in Glenn's name may be sent to the Alzheimers Association's Montana Chapter, 2900 12th Ave. N - Suite 4E, Billings, MT 59101.

REX M. KLINE
HOT SPRINGS -- Rex M. Kline, 77, died March 1, 2002, at Evergreen Hot Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center here. He was born Jan. 31, 1925, to Alvin and Mary Kline in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He attended school in Cedar Rapids and Palo, Iowa. On Jan. 4, 1950, he married Ruth Potter. Rex was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elma and brothers Norman, Chester, Harold and Clarence. He is survived by his wife; two sons and their wives, Terry and Eunice (Shellsburg, IA) and Tim and Carey (Arlee); four grandchildren; a sister, Lydia "Boots" Robertson (Wildamor, CA); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Private family urn placement will be held at his request.

GILBERT KNAPP
HOT SPRINGS -- Gilbert "Smokey" Knapp, 64, died on March 1, 2002, at his home here. He was born on Feb. 23, 1938, in Eddy, to Albert and Mary Knapp. He married Audrey Colyer of Paradise in 1960. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers: Mel, Bob, Burrell, Neil, Albert, Butch and Jim Knapp. He is survived by his wife (Hot Springs); four daughters and sons-in-law, Tamra and Chris Stallkfleet (Nikiski, AK); Trudi and Steve Lawerence (Polson); Brigette and Brian Burnhart (Great Falls); and Skye and Danny White (Seward, AK); four brothers, Edgar, Dave and Richard Knapp (Wash.) and Paul Knapp (Okla.); 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Military graveside services were March 5. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.

EUGENE C. KRUGER
POLSON -- Eugene C. Kruger, 87, died Jan. 1, 2002, of natural causes at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls. He was born Feb. 9, 1914, in Forsyth to Theodore H. And Eugenia E. (Baldwin) Kruger. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Katherine and a brother, Frank. Survivors include sons John Kruger of Missoula and Gregory Kruger of Eudora, Kan., and two grandchildren. Funeral services were Jan. 8. Burial was Jan. 9 in Forsyth.

HARRIET KUGLER
RONAN -- Harriet "Susie" Kugler died on May 2, 2002, at St. Luke Extended Care Center here. She was born March 5, 1907, in Harlen, IA, and spent her young life in Wagner, S.D. Her parents, John Danks and Margaret Sieban Sadler Danks, were both deaf and Susie learned sign language and independence as a young girl. She graduated from high school in South Dakota in 1925 and then taught school in a small country school for a few years until she married George McCarney. They had one son, George "Skipper" McCarney, born in 1930. In 1953, she married Harry "Tobe" Kugler in Missoula. They opened the Lucky Strike Lanes bowling alley in Ronan. Preceding her in death were Tobe and Skipper; her brother, Arthur; a sister, Roxy; and a nephew, Jerry, and his wife, Vi Danks. She is survived by two stepsons and families, Ward and Rose Kugler (Ronan), and Ralph and Sharen Kugler (St. Cloud, MN); five grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and special family friends. Services were May 6 in Ronan. Memorials may be made to the "Susie Fund" to be used for special needs at the United Methodist Church, or to the charity of the donor's choice.

HAZEL KUNTZ
RONAN -- Hazel Kuntz, 70, died at her home here on March 22, 2002, of natural causes. She was born on Oct. 4, 1931, in Ronan, to Hazel and Richard Madson. At the age of 15, she met Philip Kuntz, the man she would be spending the rest of her life with. Phil and Hazel were married for 53 years, during which they had five children. She is survived by her husband (Ronan); three daughters and their spouses, Bonnie and Wayne Robinson (Riverside, CA), Kathy and Gary Harrington (Ronan), and Julie and Dennis Courville (Pablo); one son and daughter-in law, Terry and Rebecca Kuntz (Milltown); 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; her sister, Shirley Cerise (Butte); a brother, Bob Madson (Port Orange, FL); and numerous nieces and nephews. Services were held in Ronan on March 26. Memorials may be made to the Montana Talking Book Library in Helena.

JEROME KUNTZ
MOIESE -- Jerome Kuntz, 70, of Moiese, died on April 5, 2002, at the St. Luke Extended Care Facility in Ronan of natural causes. Memorial services were April 9 in Ronan.

JAMES D. LAMB
RONAN -- James Daniel "Jimmy" Lamb was born July 25, 1963, to Clarice and Jim Lamb. He died on May 3, 2002. In Jimmy's younger years he played many sports and especially enjoyed baseball. He was a hunting enthusiast and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hiking, his dogs and photography. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sharen. He is survived by his parents; sisters Julie and Joni; a brother, Jerry; two nieces and four nephews; and his partner, Yvonne Brady, and son, Shawn. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on May 6 in Missoula, with burial following at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

LEONA A. LENSMAN
ST. IGNATIUS -- Leona A. Lensman, 94, died on Sept. 6 at St. Luke's Extended Care in Ronan. Born in Fairmont, Minn., on Sept. 29, 1906, to William and Johanna (Posivio) Bremer, she was reared and educated in Minnesota. She and Richard W. Lensman were wed on Sept. 25, 1932, in Pablo, and made their home on the Lensman family ranch near St. Ignatius. Preceding her in death was her husband (who died on Nov. 11, 1991); and a niece, Shirley Bowdish, who they had raised as their daughter. She leaves behind her daughter, LaVonne (Ron) Olmsted (St. Ignatius); a son-in-law, John Boedish (Kalispell); two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Graveside services were held Sept. 8. Memorial services followed in St. Ignatius. Memorials be made to the charity of the donor's choice or to the Lake County Bank (Box 664, St. Ignatius, MT 59865), where the family has set a memorial in her name.

JIGGS LENTZ
RONAN -- Ronald G. "Jiggs" Lentz, 76, died at his home here on Oct. 17, 2001, of natural causes. Jiggs was born June 3, 1924, in Viking, Alberta, the son of Alphonse and Parmelie (Duguay) Lentz. Jiggs' survivors include his daughter, Judie Thorne; brothers, Harold "Dutch" Lentz and Arnold "A.J." Lentz; and sister, Betty McBroom. He has three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary and sister Lou. A memorial Mass was celebrated on Oct. 22 in Ronan.

ADELLA LEWIS
RONAN -- Adella Lewis, 94, died on Jan. 3, 2002. She was a resident of St. Luke Extended Care in Ronan. Adella Lewis was born into the Martin and Anna Wornath family on June 17, 1907, in Bassarabia, Romania. She was the youngest of the 11 children who immigrated to the United States when she was just 14 months of age. On June 16, 1928, Adella married Robert Lee Lewis of Lolo. She was preceded in death by Bob, her husband of 55 years; her parents; all her brothers and sisters; a granddaughter, Kimberly Denton, and a great-granddaughter, Mary Lee Town. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and John Corum (Ronan), Joyce and Harvey Town (Polson), and Lynn and Bob Denton (Echert, CO); 12 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Jan. 7. Interment followed in Ronan. Memorials may be made to the Ronan Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Adella's name.

LUCILLE V. LEWIS
ARLEE -- Lucille Viola Lewis died on May 8, 2002, of natural causes at her home. She was born to Clara and Bob Vinnedge on Sept. 17, 1926, in Orange County, CA. Lucille was a successful business owner and a peacemaker. In 1972 she entrepreneured her way to Missoula to explore new dreams. Within a year, she relocated to Arlee and started a small cattle ranch. She also went to work cooking for the Arlee Senior Citizens Center. Lucille had many interests, such as cooking, gardening, camping, playing cards and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by fours sons and their spouses: Dennis and Jody Winchester, Steve and Aurora Winchester, Rick and Kelly Lewis, and Kenneth and Kimberly Lewis; sister Vonda "Tiny" Moore; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services were held on May 13 in Missoula. Interment followed at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

THOMAS C. LINDELL
POLSON -- Thomas C. Lindell, 60, died on April 2, 2002, at his home here following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Leland Lindell. Tom is survived by his wife, Mary (Polson); two daughters, Laurel Staples (Butte) and Leigh Olson (Seattle); four grandchildren; his mother, Earline Lindell (Polson); three brothers, Robert Lindell and Curtis Lindell (Texas) and Earl Lindell (Ark.). A memorial service was held on April 6 in Polson.

EVELYN G. LOCKWOOD
POLSON -- Evelyn G. Lockwood, 97, Polson, died from natural causes on Sept. 20, 2001, at the Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 19, 1904, in Butte to Anton and Marie Goranson. Evelyn grew up in the Round Butte community and graduated from Round Butte High School. In 1924 she married Clyde Lockwood in Missoula; he preceded in death, as did their son, Clyde Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Billie Jean Noe (Edmonds, WA); grandchildren Luann Lockwood, Laura Lockwood Asbell, Steve Noe, Jon Noe, Melisande Noe and Lisa Gaines; five great grandchildren; her sister, Thelma Wright (Lynnwood, WA); and daughter-in-law, Charlotte Lockwood (Polson). A memorial service was held on Oct. 7 in Polson.
