CECILIA (CISSY) IVERSON
HOT SPRINGS -- Cecilia "Cissy" Iverson, 82, died on Aug. 23, 2001, at Clark Fork Valley Hospital in Plains.

Cissy was born in Darby, England, where she was also reared and educated. During World War II, she worked in factories in England to support the war effort.

In 1945, she married Eugene Zelezny in England and she became one of 1,500 "war brides" to sail on the Queen Mary back to the U.S., landing at New York Harbor. She boarded a train to Columbia Falls, where Eugene met her and took her to their first home: a two-room shack with no electricity or running water, located in Lonepine. Together they farmed their land and raised their children: Joseph, born in 1948; Robert, born in 1950; and Teresa, born in 1952.

Cissy was preceded in death by Eugene and her second husband, Lawrence, as well as her son, Robert.

Cissy was baptized in the Catholic Church as Cecilia Agnes Smith and was also a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hot Springs.

She loved gardening and tending to her flowers and plants. Cissy worked as a nurse's aide at the Hot Springs Manor for a number of years. She also donated to paralyzed veteran support agencies as well as groups that support and work with the handicapped.

All who knew Cissy will remember her generosity and thoughtfulness, her laughter and wit, her courage and strength and her loyalty to family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchild were priceless to her. She treasured her friends as though they were her family.

Survivors include a daughter, Teresa (Richard Morton) Zelezny (Camas Prairie); a son, Joseph (Francis) Zelezny (Indiana); one grandson. one great granddaughter, and two step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Aug. 28 at the Lonepine Community Hall.

LEONA A. LENSMAN
ST. IGNATIUS -- Leona A. Lensman, 94, died on Sept. 6 at St. Luke's Extended Care in Ronan.

Born in Fairmont, Minn., on Sept. 29, 1906, to William and Johanna (Posivio) Bremer, she was reared and educated in Minnesota. Leona worked as a nurse's aid in Fairmont until she came to Montana to visit her aunt Sophie Posivio one summer. It was here that she met her future husband, Richard W. Lensman. She and Richard were wed on Sept. 25, 1932, in Pablo, and made their home on the Lensman family ranch near St. Ignatius.

A dedicated rancher's wife and mother, Leona also worked in the school lunch kitchen for awhile and served as a leader for 4-H for nine years. Leona was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and St. Ignatius Senior Citizens. An avid flower grower, especially of gladiolas, she was also a member of the Garden Club. Most recently, after she had moved to the St. Luke's in Ronan, she had become one of the most upbeat and helpful residents to those who knew her.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Richard, who died on Nov. 11, 1991; and a niece, Shirley Bowdish, who they had raised as their daughter.

She leaves behind her daughter, LaVonne (Ron) Olmsted, St. Ignatius; a son-in-law, John Boedish, Kalispell; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Graveside services were held Sept. 8 in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Memorial services followed at the Zion Lutheran Church in St. Ignatius with Rev. Eric Nelson officiating. The family requests that memorials be made to the charity of the donor's choice or to the Lake County Bank (Box 664, St. Ignatius, MT 59865), where the family has set a memorial in her name.

RONALD G. 'JIGGS' LENTZ
RONAN -- Ronald G. "Jiggs" Lentz, 76, died at his home here on Oct. 17, 2001, of natural causes.

Jiggs loved his music. He and his brother, "A.J.," and his mom, Pat, had their own band for many years. He considered himself a very lucky person in 1956 when he won a brand new Chevy.

Jiggs spent the greater part of his life driving truck on construction jobs. He married Grace Lutton in 1960 and they had many happy years traveling on construction jobs and taking his dad, Alphonse, fishing.

He was Senior of the Year for the Ronan Center and also for Lake County in 1992. The American flag was very important to him and he paid close attention to make sure the light was always shining on it. Unless he wasn't well, he was always at the donation table with a smile and a kind greeting.

He was also president of the Council on Aging for a number of years.

Jiggs' survivors include his daughter, Judie Thorne; brothers, Harold "Dutch" Lentz and Arnold "A.J." Lentz; and sister, Betty McBroom. He has three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 12 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary and sister Lou.
