GORDON OSCAR ECKMAN
POLSON -- Gordon Oscar Eckman, 82, died at his home here on Sept. 14, 2001, from natural causes.
He was born Aug. 6, 1919, in Kerkhoven, Minn. After his parents died, he lived with his sister in Montana. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1941, serving during World War II.
On Nov. 4, 1950, he married Clara Bartlett in Polson. Gordon worked for the state of Montana as a surveyor for 40 years, living in many areas of western Montana. The couple lived in Dillon for 35 years before moving to Finley Point, where they built their home in 1992.
He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Elks Lodge for 35 years.
His sister also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Clara Eckman (Polson); two daughters, Erin Herman (Missoula) and Laurie Latimer (Kalispell); a son, Michael Eckman (Salem, Ore.); six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services were Sept. 21 at the First United Methodist Church in Polson with the Rev. Russ Barber officiating. Private inurnment with military honors will be held at Lakeview Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a hospice of the donor's choice.
Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Grogan Funeral Home and Crematory.
DONALD L. GRANZOW
BIG ARM -- Donald L. Granzow, 78, died on Oct. 8, 2001, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula following a long illness.
He was born and raised in the Latimer area of Kansas, the son of Grace and Louis Granzow.
Don served honorably in the U.S. Navy for 3.5 years during World War II, being discharged in November 1945.
On Feb. 6, 1945, he married Wilma Ollenberger. They farmed in the Latimer area until moving to Ulysses, Kan., where he started his career with Amoco Oil Co., which involved transfers to Wichita, Kan.; Trenton, Mo.; Fort Collins, Colo.; Twin Falls, Idaho; Missoula; and Dubuque, Iowa, where he retired from the company.
While in Twin Falls, he was exalted ruler of the Twin Falls Elks Lodge and was honored to serve on the board of directors of the Idaho Elks Rehabilitation Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Wilma; two daughters, Christine (Loren) Kelsey and Jean (Rod) Scheidecker; a son, Robert (Linda) Granzow; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Bill Granzow and family (Herington, Kan.); and a sister, Helen Schump, and family (Greeley, Colo.).

At Don's request, no services will take place.
MARJORIE MAE HAGEN
ARLEE -- Marjorie Mae Hagen, 79, died on Oct. 9, 2001, of natural causes at Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Polson.
She was born Nov. 27, 1921, at Spirit Lake, Iowa, to Warren and Roberta Thorp. At the age of five she moved with her family to Montana. They lived near Culbertson and eventually moved to Missoula in 1928.
On Nov. 29, 1939, she married James Hagen in Missoula. James was working for Northern Pacific Railroad and did so for 46 years. While with Northern Pacific Railroad, they lived in several locations, eventually settling in Arlee in 1968 where they have since made their home.
She worked as a nurse's aide at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula during the '60s. Marjorie was a voracious reader, loved to garden and raise greenhouse plants and was known in Arlee as the "Greenhouse Lady." She loved her many grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter.
Marjorie is survived by her husband James (Arlee); three sons, Lewis W. Hagen (Livingston), Norman J. Hagen (Great Falls) and Mark N. Hagen (Stevensville); three daughters, Lila Edwards (Las Vegas), Vicki Offerdahl (Kalispell) and Michelle Hagen (Polson); one brother, Don Thorp (Ronan); a sister, Phyllis Clawson (Kelso, Wash.); 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
No services are planned at this time and cremation has taken place. Donations may be made in Marjorie's name to the Lake County Cancer Fund.
CHRISTOPHER J. HODGE
ST. IGNATIUS -- Christopher J. Hodge, 19, died on Oct. 12 with his fiancée, LaTeasa M. Hogge, from injuries sustained in an auto accident north of Ronan.
Chris was born Dec. 26, 1981, in Poplar and was raised in Charlo, Camas Prairie, Ronan and St. Ignatius. He had moved to Lewiston, Idaho, and then went to the Job Corps in White Swan, Wash., but had returned to St. Ignatius and had been doing odd jobs for everyone, firefighting and working as a farm/ranch hand. He also worked as a roofer.
Chris had many interests. He was the No. 1 fisherman, and he enjoyed telling stories, camping, playing pool, football, basketball, writing, drawing and being in the country.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Cheryl A. and Ron Gaines (Lewiston); an adopted dad, Doran DuMont (St. Ignatius); grandparents Lyle J. Hodge (St. Ignatius) and Carl and Darlene Fourstar (Wolf Point); brothers and sisters, Brandy M. Lee (Milford, Calif.); Joseph D. Becker (Lewiston); and Travis H. DuMont (St. Ignatius); and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A wake began on Oct. 16 at the St. Ignatius Longhouse. Funeral services were Oct. 17, also at the Longhouse, with Pastor Andy Larsson officiating. Burial followed at the St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery.
LATEASA MARIE HOGGE
ST. IGNATIUS -- LaTeasa Marie Hogge, 19, died on Oct. 12, with her fiance, Christopher James Hodge, from injuries sustained in an auto accident north of Ronan.
Teasa was born Jan. 24, 1982, in St. Ignatius to Daniel R. and Judy Hogge. Raised in St. Ignatius she had been helping her parents at the farmers' markets in Polson and Ronan, where she sold organic tomatoes and made frybread. Just recently she had gone to work for the Cenex station in St. Ignatius.
She was multi-talented. Teasa was very musically inclined; she enjoyed dancing and listening to music. A lover of babies, she enjoyed being around her family, friends and animals, especially horses. A talented artist, she loved to write poetry.
She is survived by her mother and father, Daniel R. and Judy Hogge (St. Ignatius); grandparents Julie Marie Maughan (Ronan) and Elizabeth Lee Hogge (St. Ignatius); brothers and sisters, Lacey Speagle, LeAnn Ashley Hogge, Jeremy Houk, Twyla Rose Hogge, B.J. Robert John Hogge, Katelynn Brianne Hogge and Daniel Hogge (all of St. Ignatius); and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were Oct. 17 at the Ronan Elementary School gymnasium. Private family interment will be held Oct. 18 at the family ranch.
