LARRY BOWE
MISSOULA -- Larry Bowe, 53, of Plains, died Sept. 3, 2001, at St. Patrick's Hospital here, as a result of complications from scleroderma.
He was born on Nov. 3, 1947, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., to Clement and Dorothy (Swoboda) Bowe. The family moved to Codott, Wis., in 1951, where Larry was raised on the family's dairy farm.
Larry married Emily Fjelstad on Feb. 6, 1971.
Larry was involved in retail sales most of his life, at the Gambles stores in Codott and St. Ignatius, retiring in 1997. After retiring, he moved to Plains, where he worked part time at the Town Pump.
Survivors include his son, John (Bethany) Bowe (Hudson, WI); and his daughter, Elizabeth (Eau Claire, WI); his parents, Clem and Dorothy Bowe (Cadott, WI); sisters, Mary Jane (Marty) Green (Eau Claire); Suzanne Zien (Cadott); Sally Martens (Chippewa Falls, WI); five nieces and 11 nephews.
Larry was proceded in death by a brother, John, in 1942; and his grandparents, Ferdinand and Theresa Bowe and John and Mary Swoboda.
Larry's pride and joy were his children. He also loved working with people, making friends wherever he went. Larry loved sports, especially hunting, baseball, and bowling. He also had a great love for the outdoors, spending a great deal of time at his cabin and with his dog, Brandy.
Services will be held on Nov. 18, 2001, at 3 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Plains. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made on Larry's behalf to the Assembly of God Church in Plains.
RAYMOND W. BROWN
POLSON -- Raymond W. Brown, 73, died from natural causes on Sept. 30, 2001, at the Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center here.
He is survived by his son, Frank Brown (Polson); daughter, Beverly Dalke (Pablo); five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. today (Oct. 4), at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Polson, with the Rev. Edwina Aker officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
THEODORE SIDNEY 'TED' BROWN
DAYTON -- Theodore Sidney "Ted" Brown, 50, died here on Sept. 17, 2001, of a gunshot wound.
He is survived by his parents, James B. and Alice Brown (Great Falls); two sisters, Vicki Gliko (Belt) and Ronnie White (Mount Vernon, WA); and two brothers, Jim Brown (Great Falls) and Terry Brown (Dayton).
Funeral liturgy was Sept. 22 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Rite of committal was at Valley Ranch east of Belt.
Memorials may be made to Yellowstone Boys Ranch.
DANIEL LEE COLE
DIXON -- Daniel Lee Cole, 85, died at his home on Sept. 30, 2001.
Dan was born Nov. 18, 1915, in Pryor, Okla., to Clem and Mary Cole.
A member of the Cherokee Tribe of Oklahoma he was preceded in death by his parents and only brother, Doyle Cole.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon, a son, Boone; and daughters Martha and Betty (all of Dixon); daughter, Sally (Connecticut); seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Dan grew up near Pryor, Okla.; attended Cole School; and graduated from Pryor High School. His family moved to the Dixon area in 1934. He attended the University of Montana where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps as a camp cook and surveyed for the Flathead Indian Agency.
He moved to Seattle where he attended the University of Washington and worked as a welding inspector for Boeing Aircraft. He then moved to Alaska where he spent many years working as a civil engineer for the U.S. government and the U.S. Coast Guard. He hunted, fished and trapped all over Alaska.
In the late 1960s he transferred to Montana to work for the BIA. He retired from the federal government to the family ranch near Dixon in 1968. He worked for the Montana Highway Department in Missoula from 1975 to 1980. He spent the remainder of his life working on his ranch which he loved.
Dan was a life member of the Elks Lodge, a 32nd degree Mason, and a Nile Temple Shriner. He was also active in Toastmasters. He was Sanders County commission candidate, served on many Sanders County boards, was an avid reader and fiddle player, and was a true patriot.
A memorial service was held on Oct. 12 at the family home near Dixon.
CAREY 'BUCK' CRISLER
POLSON -- Carey D. "Buck" Crisler, 61, Polson, died of cancer on Sept. 20, 2001, at the Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Thomas Crisler.
Survivors include his wife, Gwendalyn (Polson); his father, Fredrick Crisler (Anaconda); two sons, Carey Crisler (Butte) and William Crisler (Anaconda); a stepdaughter, Teresa Williams (Whitefish); four brothers, Jim Crisler, Toby Crisler and Jeff Crisler (all of Anaconda) and Bob Crisler (Butte); two sisters, Alvina Fortner and Patsy Davis (both of Anaconda); and numerous grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Sept. 27 in Anaconda.
GLORIA DIXON UNDERDAL DANIELS
HOT SPRINGS ‹ Gloria Dixon Underdal Daniels, 62, died here on Aug. 22, 2001. Memorial services were Sept. 29 at the Hot Springs Bible Church.
JIM DUBAY
POLSON -- Jim Dubay, formerly of Montana, died at his home in Santa Fe, N.M., of lung cancer, on Aug. 31, 2001.
Born Oct. 11, 1936, to Herbert and Pearl Dubay, the family moved to Deer Lodge in 1949.
He graduated from Powell County High School in 1954 and from Carroll College. He also earned a law degree from the University of Montana. He retired in 1998, as CEO of EG&G Florida.
He is survived by his mother; wife; five children and their spouses; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Lesley (Polson); a sister, Chris (Deer Lodge); and sister-in-law Mary Ann (Great Falls).
