Allen Red Head

Allen Lee Red Head, 37, died at Benefis East in Great Falls of kidney failure on Dec. 14, 2001.

Rosary was said Tuesday and his funeral was held Wednesday at St. Anne's Catholic Church with burial in St. Anne's Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 5, 1964, and was a firefighter.

He is survived by sisters, Eva Red Head, Elaine Mittens, Aloha Red Head and Laurie Yellow Owl; and a brother, Ronald Red Head.

Day Family Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Myron Cobell

Myron Sam Cobell, 37, died of cancer at Northern Rockies Medical Center in Cut Bank on Dec. 12, 2001.

Rosary was said Friday at Day Family Funeral Home in Browning. Funeral mass was held Saturday at Little Flower Parish. Cremation has taken place.

He was born Sept. 27, 1964, and was a diesel mechanic and bus driver for School District No. 9.

Surviving are his wife, Juli; his parents, Jocko Parrent, Sr., and Gaylene Parrent; daughters, Samantha Cobell, Leslie Cobell and Mandy Cobell; those he raised as sons, Nathin Cobell, Josh Monroe and Jesse Blackman; sisters, Donna Raining Bird of Box Elder, Linda Heavy Runner and Gail Murdock of Billings; brothers, Donny Guardipee of Cut Bank, George Cobell of Missoula and Jocko Parrent and Joe Hauck; grandparents, Les Cobell and Frank Henry; and two grandchildren.

Cobell was preceded in death by his father, William George Cobell; a brother, William Cobell; grandparents, Violet Henry and Pearl and Richard Sinclair; and a son, Jonny Blackman.

Day Family Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Billy Crouch

Billy Blaine Crouch, 74, died Dec. 3, 2001, at his home in Havre of natural causes.

No services were held.

He was born in Fort Pierre, S.D., and spent much of his life driving truck. He served in World War II and received a victory medal. He also served in the Korean War where he was wounded in action and received a Purple Heart.

Crouch is survived by his wife, Mary of Havre; a son, Billy Crouch, Jr. of Williston, N.D.; a daughter, Kathy Knudson of Apache Junction, Ariz.; stepchildren, Tammy Pike, Nancy Corner, James Smith and Teddy Smith, all of Havre; a brother, John Crouch of Tulsa, Okla.; sisters, Mary Novak and Waneta Grosser of Cut Bank, May Farrel of Clancy and Shirley Cummings of Spokane, Wash.; 21 nieces and nephews; and several grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Barbara Crouch; a son, Jack; his first wife, Mary Chapel; brothers, Joe and Robert Crouch; and a sister, Ida Jacoby.

Memorials may be sent to Mary Crouch.

James Douglas

James Orville Douglas, 74, of Spokane, Wash., a former postal clerk, died Nov. 28, 2001, of cancer at the Veterans Hospital in Spokane.

A memorial service will be held in the spring. Cremation has taken place. Ball and Dodd-South Funeral Home handled the funeral arrangements. His ashes will be spread at his parent's old homesite south of the Browning depot.

He was born July 18, 1927, in Browning, to Grace No Chief Douglas and John (Archie) Douglas. He attended schools and graduated in Browning. He lived and worked in the San Francisco area for several years. Upon his retirement he moved to Spokane. He served eight years in the U.S. Army and was a member of the VFW until his death.

Douglas's favorite past-time was reading. He also enjoyed playing cards, fishing and taking pictures. He liked to tell stories and will be remembered for some of his tales.

Survivors include daughters, Cynthia and Kimberly of Sacramento, Calif.; sons, John, Andrew, Paul and Raymond of Oakland, Calif.; Steven of Sacramento; and James of Newark, Calif.; and 15 grandchildren.

His wife, June, preceded him in death.

Verla Stratton, age 89, a long time Galata area farm wife, passed away Dec. 14 at the Marias Care Center in Shelby.

Funeral services were held Dec. 18, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church with burial in the Mountain View Cemetery. Visitation was Dec. 17, at the Whitted Funeral Chapel.

She was born October 12, 1912 at Grandview, Mont. (just north of Galata) to Irven & Thressa (Fennell) Kinyon. There she attended country school and later graduated from Galata High School. She married Lloyd Stratton in 1941, and the couple worked the family farm north of Galata for many years.

When Lloyd died in 1957 she took over the full operation of the farm until 1999 when ill health brought her to live in Shelby.

She was a member of the Galata Lutheran Church and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing scrabble, quilting and painting. Verla was looking forward to the birth of twin great-grandchildren in March

Survivors include her daughter, Marna Stratton of Shelby and her son, Eldred and wife, Susie Stratton, of Shelby; her grandchildren, Allen and wife, Lori Stratton, and Leah and husband Joe Pehan, all of Shelby; her sisters, June Eide, of Galata, Elda and husband, Bob Bucher, of Bozeman and one great-grandchild, Mistu Pehan of Everett, Wash. Her special friends Kevin, Lanell, Trevor and Amanda Dodson, of Dunkirk and numerous nieces and nephews also survive Verla.

Her parents, husband Lloyd, brothers and sisters, Claire Kinyon, Isabel Fenger, Wayne Kinyon, Howard Kinyon, Dale Kinyon and her twin sister, Vesta Brammer, all precede her in death.

James Milton Parks

James Milton Parks, 83, died on Tuesday, June 12, 2001, at his summer residence at Lake McDonald.

He was born in 1918 in Baird, Texas and spent his youth in Texas and Washington, D.C. He received his bachelor's degree at Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H. in 1939. Here he was named All-American on the unbeaten Ivy League football team of 1938.

He joined the Navy in 1942 and reached the rank of lieutenant commander in NATS and was stationed in North Africa.

Jim's first assignment after the war was to Ethiopia for Trans-World Airlines in management contracts. He was transferred to Saudi Arabia to set up Saudi Arabian Airlines for Ibn Saud, the King of Arabia.

In 1948 he joined Mobil International Oil Co. as president and general manager in Beirut, Lebanon, Cairo, Egypt, the Belgian Congo, Ghana, Casablanca, Morocco and Mexico City. He ended his career with six years in Houston. In 1982 the Parks retired to La Jolla, Calif.

Survivors include his wife, Elin of fifty-seven years, a daughter, Dana Wright of North Pomfret, Vt. and four grandchildren, Kevin, Eric andJulia Wright of Vermont and Michael Parks of Berkeley, Calif. His son Robert, pre-deceased him in 1994. He is also survived by two brothers, Robert and David.

A graveside service is planned in July at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery where he will be buried next to his son.

Jim will be missed by all who knew him. He was noted for his

honesty and integrity in business and his kindness and good humor socially. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather.
