Maxine "Tiny" Renz Vantine
Maxine "Tiny" Renz Vantine, 68, died Feb. 14, 2002 in Santa Clara, Calif. She was born on Nov. 15, 1934. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Richard V. Gibbs and Harold R. Renz; and one granddaughter. She is survived by her husband Wendall Vantine of San Jose, Calif; two sons Don LaRoque of Poplar and Rory Haugen of Piltzville; a daughter, Michelle Haugen of Clinton; mother Lucille Gibbs Samuelson; three sisters, Robert Garfield, Alma Jean Renz and Nancy Samuelson Foote all fo Poplar; fifteen granchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Charles R. "Bud" Nelson
Charles R. Nelson, 85, of Billings, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002. He was born Oct. 21, 1916, to Frank and Minnie Nelson in Nickwall, south of Poplar. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Frances; his son, Dr. Robert C. Nelson; his daughter, Linda Appelgren, all of Billings; his sisters, Jean Paulson of Wolf Point and Margaret Graff of Joplin; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Feb. 20, 2002 at First Presbyterian Church in Billings with Pastor John Shuck officiating.
Hattie M. Sudbrack
Hattie M. Sudbrack, 84, lifelong Saco area resident, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2002, at the Francis Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow of cancer. She was born June 28, 1917, in Saco. She was preceded in death by a son, Curtis in 1936 and her husband, H. Reinhard Sudbrack. Survivors include two daughters, Rene Worley of Wolf Point and Norma Kelly of Malta; three sons, Phillip Sudbrack of Saco, Cecil Sudbrack of New Holland, Penn., and Dale Sudbrack of Saco; two sisters, Nettie Schubert of Wabasha, Minn., and Priscilla Green of Forest Grove, Ore.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral servcies were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Saco Lutheran Church at with burial following inthe Grandview Cemetery in Saco.
Margery Rodewald
Margery Rodewald, 88, of Tioga, N.D. formerly of the Brockton area died at the Mountrail Bethel Nursing Home in Stanley, N.D. on Friday, Feb. 22, 2002. She was born on Nov. 27, 1913, at Reserve, the daughter of Albert and Harriet Walker Hancock. Predceding her in death was her husband, two sisters, Evelyn Bradshaw and florence Nielsen; one brother, Arnold Hancock; and on granddaughter, Harriet Meyer. She is survived by three daughters, Rhoda Myers of Tioga, Margery Mae Shanks of Tioga, Margery Mae Shanks of Brockton and Mavis Leogering of Poplar; one stepdaughter, Betty mariani of HAvre; a stepson, Gordon Rodewald of Whitefish; 17 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandsons. Funeral services were held on Wed., Feb. 27, at our Saviors Lutheran Church in Brockton. Rev. Rob Nedbalek officiated.
Clarence Olson
Clarence Olson, died, Feb. 19, 2002. he was born on Dec. 18, 1913, at Poplar. He is survived by four daughters, Laurie Alexander of Moscow, Idaho, Arlene Doornek of Wolf Point, Linda Johnson of Wolf Point, and JoAnn Daeley of Lambert. He is also survived by by three sons, Raymond Olson of Vida/Riverside, Marvin Olson of Wolf Point, and Robert Williams of St. Louis, Ill.; three brothers, Lawrend, Harry and Eddy, all of Riverside/Vida; three sisters, Clovie Keuhne of Wolf Point, Ella DeShaw of Seattle, Wash., and Wilma Bernard of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren. Services were held at the Immaculate Conception Church of Wolf Point on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002.
Douglas Alan FitzSimmons
Douglas Alan FitzSimmons, 52, died on Feb. 21, 2002, in Circle. He was born on Feb. 1, 1950, in Wolf Point. Survivors include his wife Donna of Glasgow; a daughter Kt Northington of Wolf Point; his mother, Pat Neutgens of Great Falls; four stepsons, Earl Carson and David Carson, both of Glasgow, Michael Carson of St. Peter, Minn. and Kelly Carson of Great Falls; two brothers, Ray F itzSimmons of White Salmon, Wash. and Gary Fitzsimmons of Idaho; one half-sister, Kim Nolan of California; two granddaughters and five grandsons. A Memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 25, at the Church of Nazarene, in Glasgow, with Rev. John Powell officiating.
Nettie Teichroew
Nettie Teichroew, 79, died on Feb. 16, 2002, in Glasgow. She was born on March 19, 1912 in Mountain Lake, Minn. Preceding her in death were her three brothers, Peter, Albert and Jacob. Survivors include one brother, Abe of Minneapolis, Minn.; and one sister, Elizabeth Pankratz of Frazer. Funeral services were held on Feb. 21, 2002, at the Clayton Memoiral Chapel with Pastor David Lind officiating.
James "Jim" Belcher
Jimmy, 68, died early Monday morning at St. Clare Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Margie; four stepchildren, Frank, Patty, Mike and Kelly; his two brothers and sister, Walt, Louis and Cleo. He is also survived by his seven step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren. Memorial services were at 3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002.
Orville H. Dale
Orville H. Dale, 81, a retired service station owner and operator i Dodson, died Sat., Feb. 23, 2002, at the Good Samaritan Center in Malta. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Dehlia, Olive, and Lousie: two brothers, Wilfred and Gene; and one great-grandson Joseph Bach. Survivors include his wife, Margaret "Marge" Dale of Malta; a son, Richard Dale of Malta; a son, Richard Dale of Malta; a daughter, Geri Bach of Wolf Point; a sister Darlene Zosel of New York Mills, Minn.; a brother Norman Dale of Perham, Minn.; tow grandsons; and two great-grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
Nina Nelson
Nina Nelson, 95, longtime Dane Valley and Culbertson resident, died Monday evening, Feb. 26, 2002, in the Roosevelt Memorial Nursing Home in Culbertson. She was born Oct. 7, 1906. Prededing her in death was her husband, Walter; daughter Luella; five brothers, Fred, Tom, Frank, Martin and Otto; and six sisters, Dora Hansen, Ingeborg Johnsen, Ella Olson, Edna Hofman and Esther Baumgarten. Survivors include her daughter, Harriet Blair of Missoula; a son, Tom of Culbertson; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be Friday, March 1, 2002, at 10:30 a.m. in Bethel Free Lutheran Church in Culbertson, Rev. Alex Lissow will officiate.

Edith Marie Forest, 92, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, in Helena. She was preceded in death by her husband; son Bert Jr.; a sister; and four brothers. She is survived by her daughter E. Louise McAnally of Helena; sons Thomas Leroy Forest of Wolf Point and O.K. Forest of Bull Head City, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Hagler Anderson Chapel in Helena.
Bertha "Day" Edgarly Watters Boyd
Bertha "Day" Edgarly Watters Boyd, 83, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002. She was born May 8, 1918, in Moselle, Mo. She was preceded i ndeath by her husband; a daughter, Pamela Blakeman; two brothers, joe Watters and Edgar Watters; two grandchildren, Randy Heath and Lisa Blakeman; and a great-grandchildren, Belinda Heath Fulwider. She is survived by three daughters, Joan Von Wolff of Las Cruces, N.M., Jacqulin Heath and Lisa Blakeman; and a great-grandchild, Belinda Heath Fulwider.
Clarice A. Blankenship
Clarice A. Blankenship, 60, of Glendive, died on Tuesday, March 5, 2002. She was born on March 10, 1941, in Wolf Point. Survivors include her husband, Don, of Glendive; three sons, Paul of Glendive, Mark of Parker, Colo., and Noel of Glendive; one brother, Larry Legare of Wisconsin; one sister, Lois Merkel of Seattle, Wash., and five grandchildren.
Dawn Hanson
Dawn Hanson, 80, died Tuesday, March 5, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond in 1998; and sister Joyce Chapman. She is survived by four children, Sharon Grow of Broomfield, Colo., Anne Anderson of Manitou Springs, Colo., CArla Clausen of Plano, Texas and Fred Hanson of Wolf Point; four brothers, Jack and Dwight of Scobey, Leroy of Billings and Eugene of Terrebonne, Ore.; one sister, Margarette Williamson of Scobey; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 11 at Zion Lutheran Church in Flaxville.

Martha Doney, 55, died on March 11, 2002, in White Sulphur Springs. Funeral service will be on Friday, Mar. 15, 2002, at 10 a.m. St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Frazer.
Elizabeth "Betty Lou" Iron Cloud-Ricker
Elizabeth F. Iron Cloud Ricker, 69, died on March 3, 2002, at her sons home in Marysville, Wash. She was born on Jan. 25, 1933, in Poplar to Elizabeth F. Youpee-Manning and Thomas Irvin Iron Cloud.
Harold (Zib) Meissner
Harold (Zib) Wesley Meissner, 77, of Circle died March 8, 2002, at the McCone Health Center after a long battle with cancer. He was born Apr. 28, 1924, at Lemoyne, Neb. He was precede in death by three brothers, William, Lantford and Virgil. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; a son, Wesley Meissner; a daughter, Helen Murphy; three grandchildren; one brother, DAvid Meissner of Fort Benton; and a sister, Opal Frahm of Oshkosh, Neb.
Delwyn Firemoon
Delwyn Sibley Firemoon, 71, died on July 9, 2002, at the Northeast Montana Health Services Facility in Wolf Point. He was born on Feb. 7, 1931, in Poplar. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Martha Beltrone and pearl Firemoon Bird; ad one brother Maynard Firemoon Jackson. Survivors include one brother, Ernie Manning of China; and a sister, Beatrice Potter of Glasgow. Funeral services were held on July 12, at the Frazer Communtiy Hall with Steve Gray Hawk Sr. officiating. Interment will be in the St. Joseph's Cemetery.
David Harold Vondall
David Harold Vondall, 36, died on June 27, 2002, as a result of a drowning near Poplar. He was born on May 2, 1966, in San Jose, Calif., the eldest son of Harold and the late April Vondall. Survivors include his son, Andrew Vondall of Fort Defiance, Ariz.; his ex-spouse, Carol Old Horn of Fort Defiance, Ariz.; his father, Harold of Everett, Wash.; and three brothers, Norman and Trevor, both of Poplar and Richard of Frazer. Funeral services will be held July 5, at the Poplar Cultural Center in Poplar at 10 a.m., with Rev. Enright Bighorn and Gene Culbertson officiating.
Murl "John" Sisson
Murl "John" Sisson, 66, died on Thursday, June 27, 2002, at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow.
He was born on November 6, 1935 in Glasgow. Preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Sisson, Florence Loser and Ruth Cuddy.
Survivors include his wife Teri Sisson of Glasgow; sons, David Sisson of Forence, Ore., Warren "Pete" Sisson of Tualatin, Ore., Greg Sisson of Billings and Eli Sisson of Glasgow; daughters, Wanda Carter of North Pole, Alaska, Debra Tubbs of Wolf Point, Jody Landsverk of Laurel and Brette Sisson of Glasogw; a sister, Imogene Johnson of Great Falls; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
John Raymond Goodsoldier
John Raymond Goodsoldier, died July 3, 2002. He was born March 9, 1983, in Devils Lake, N.D.
He was a son of Charles Good Soldier, Sr. and Barbara Little.
He is survived by his father Charles (Evaline) Goodsoldier, Sr. of Poplar; his mother Barbara Little of St. Micheals, N.D.; grandparents, Coretta Yankton, Poplar, James Yankton, Ft. Tetten, N.D., Ambrose Thompson, St. Micheals; Ambrose Goodsoldier, Ft. Kipp; Victoria Martin, Poplar.
Funeral services were held at the Cultural Center on Wednesday, July 10, at 2 p.m. on Wed., July 10, at 2 p.m.
Vonda Martin
Vonda Rae Martin, 37, of Miles City, formerly of Wolf Point, died July 4, 2002. She was born on March 10, 1965, to Leroy Bigleggins and Norma Lambert in Poplar. She is survived by her husband, Dennis Martell, Sr.; seven children, Heather Martell Barrera, Dennis Martell, Jr., Dustin Martell, Joshua Martell, Winter Martell, Samantha Martell and Teal Martell, all of Wolf Point; and one granddaughter.
She is also survived by two sisters, Normada Martin of Kansas and Twila Martin of Miles City; and two brothers, Elroy and Richard Martin, both of Wolf Point.
Funeral serves were on Tuesday, July 9, at Clayton Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point.
Dana Escarcega
Dana Vaughn Escarcega, 35, died on July 15, 2002, in Colton, Calif. He was born Dec. 31, 1966, in Los Angeles. His surviving family include his mother, Almedia looking os Wolf Point; two sisters, toni Escarcega nd Janet Escarcega, both of Wolf Point; and one brother Joel Escarcega from California; and stepmother, Pauline Escarcega of Wyota. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 19, at Clayton Memorial Chapel with Pastor Billy Byrd officiating.
