GLADYS OWEN
POLSON -- Gladys Owen, 91, died on Feb. 11, 2005, after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Malta on Feb. 9, 1914, to Carrie and Lillian Main. Funeral services were held on Feb. 15 at the First Baptist Church in Polson, followed by graveside services at Mountain View Cemetery in Ronan.
ALVA ROYLANCE
DEER LODGE -- Alva Roylance died of a massive heart attack on Feb. 11, 2005. She was born Sept. 19, 1933, in Gold Creek, graduated from Charlo High School and lived in various places in Montana. She lived her last 33 years in Deer Lodge. She loved her dogs, Benji, Sam, Missy, Gracie and Hyper, to name a few. She was preceded in death by her mother Dora Taylor, father Alfred E. Hole and stepfather Joseph Mufich. Alva is survived by her brother, Donald Hole and his wife Christine; sisters JoAnn Sagmiller, Dorene and husband Allen Woodward and Barbara and husband Keith Knox; and two people who have been like daughters, Linda Frankforter and Laura Smith. She was also blessed with numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held on March 4 in Deer Lodge. Donations can be sent to Health Care Ministries, 521 W. Lynn, Springfield, MO 65802.
JAMES R. SANDRETZKY
POLSON -- James R. Sandretzky, 56, died on Feb. 12, 2005, at St. Joseph Hospital here. He was born on Aug. 17, 1948, in Renton, WA, to H.A. and Ida Sandretzky. James graduated from Auburn (WA) High School and attended two years at Green River College, studying mechanics and auto body work. He then entered the U.S. Army for three years and served in the Vietnam War. Following his discharge from the Army, James worked at Boeing and was a self-employed mechanic. He married Becky Richards on March 26, 1973, in Auburn. James was a member of the VFW and Military Order of the Cooties. He enjoyed building street rods, hunting and racing. James is survived by his wife, Becky (Polson); two sons, Damon (Polson) and Don and wife, Theresa (Bonney Lake, WA); two grandchildren; two sisters; and one brother. A memorial service was held on Feb. 19 at the New Life Christian Center. A military honor guard presented honors.
GERALD SIRUCEK
POLSON -- Gerald Joseph Sirucek was killed on Feb. 3, 2005, near Ronan. He was born on Feb. 26, 1984, in Polson, to Lisa F. King. Gerald was reared in Ronan. He was a graduate of Two Eagle River School, and was pursuing a bachelor's degree in forestry at Salish Kootenai College. Gerald loved to hike and was an avid outdoorsman and a sports enthusiast. He loved to write poetry and spending time with his family and friends. He was looking forward to being a father to his children. He is survived by his parents, Lisa F. King and Alfred Bauer; sisters Daina Sirucek and her husband John Foust and Lisa L. King Jr. (all of Ronan); brother Josh King (Polson); grandparents Louise Andrew (Nirada), Armeda and Gerald Hoover (Ronan), Arnold and Eve Bauer (Charlo), and Carl and Norma Sirucek (St. Ignatius); aunts and uncles: Aunt Tessie Curley and family (Pablo), Brenda and Virgil Brave Rock and family (Ronan), Sandra and Mike Kenmille and family (Big Draw), Michaleane Stasso and Steve Arca and family (St. Ignatius), Annaliesa and Glen Parker and family (Pablo), Carol and Fred McLeod and family (St. Ignatius), Lori Sirucek and Mary Jo Sirucek (Ronan); Lou Andrew (Missoula), Mark Noyes (Belgrade), Lyle Andrew (Creston, B.C.), Brian Stasso (Spokane), and Roger J. Hoover (Missoula). He was also blessed with many cousins and nieces and nephews and friends from all walks of Life. A wake was held at the Longhouse in St. Ignatius. Mass was celebrated on Feb. 7 in the St. Ignatius Catholic Mission, followed by burial at the Ronan Cemetery.
LAMAR UMPHREY
ST. IGNATIUS -- Orval LaMar Umphrey died on Feb. 16, 2005. LaMar was born on May 12, 1925, in Rexburg, ID, to Joseph F. Umphrey and Bessie Marie Ard. LaMar was raised on a dryland farm in Canyon Creek, Idaho, near Rexburg. He drove truck all his life. He bought his first truck when he was 15 years old, a 1935 Chevy. For the next three years he hauled coal and grain out of Utah, Idaho and Wyoming. He ran this business until he was drafted into World War II. After boot camp he volunteered for the Army Air Corps. He was stationed in England where he was a tail gunner on B-17s, flying missions over Germany. In 1949, he married Elda Westover and for the next five years they lived different places along the Montana Hi-Line as LaMar followed highway construction jobs. In 1955, he came to the Mission Valley to build Highway 93 over Ravalli Hill. They remained in the valley for the next five decades. LaMar worked in the logging business until his retirement. He drove for Lyman Claridge for eight years, and then also worked for Leonard Pierce, Luke Trahan, Tom Wheeler, Ray Cooper and Richard Burtch. After he retired, LaMar dedicated his time to yard work and gardening at his home along Mission Creek. LaMar was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters and by his sons Eddie and Eldon. He is survived by his sister, Nita Bainbridge, and his children and their spouses, Faye and Larry Garlock, and Laura Hauck (all of Bountiful, UT), Michael and Valerie (St. Ignatius), John and Coreen Umphrey (Polson), Kenneth Umphrey (Reno, NV), and Jim and Jessica (St. Ignatius). He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held on Feb. 22 at the St. Ignatius Latter-day Saints Church.
AALIAH UPSHAW-WALL
ARLEE -- Aaliah Stashaw Upshaw-Wall, the daughter of Andrea Upshaw of Missoula and Robert Wall of Arlee, died on Feb. 24, 2005, at Community Hospital in Missoula. She leaves behind her parents, her sisters Alexis Santos and Elaina Upshaw-Wall; her grandparents Sheila and Albert Upshaw of Missoula and Dorothy Finley of Arlee and the late William Wall; great grandparents Carl and Elaine Plant of Arlee and Madeline and the late Mike Finley of Arlee; her uncle and aunts Randy (Vanessa) Finley, Marlene Finley and Ady Upshaw; cousins Kianna Ascencio and Randy Finley Jr.; as well as many other relatives too numerous to mention. Graveside services were held on Feb. 28 at the Jocko Cemetery near Arlee. Pallbearers were Roy Combs and Wesley Pierre.
ARCHIE R. WRIGHT
ST. IGNATIUS -- Archie R. Wright, 95, of St. Ignatius, died on Feb. 25, 2005, at Mission View Care Center in Ronan. A viewing took place Monday and Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in St. Ignatius. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the church, followed by interment at the Pleasant View Cemetery.
RUTH WERNER
ST. IGNATIUS -- Ruth Augusta (Norman) Werner, 95, died on Feb. 3, 2005, at Riverside Health Care Center in Missoula. She was born in Minneapolis, the sixth of seven children, to Robert C. and Hannah (Wold) Norman, Norwegian immigrants. She came to Montana with her parents and five older siblings in 1910. The family settled in the Webster country, south of Baker. For the next 26 years, Ruth grew up in a farm family. Ruth delighted in children, especially babies. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, David, Sr.; her parents; and her siblings. Survivors include her children, David Jr. (Missoula), Lemoin and her husband, Larry Weidman (Cascade), and Kenneth and his wife, Barbara (Browning). She is also survived by five grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Services were conducted on Feb. 8 at Zion Lutheran Church in St. Ignatius. She was buried beside her husband at Pleasant View Cemetery. EVALYN ZOOK
POLSON -- Evalyn Claire "Trudy" Webb Zook, 86, died on Feb. 19, 2005. She was born in Beaumont, TX, on Nov. 29, 1918, to Joseph and Belle Boardman Webb. Trudy met her future husband, Walter William Zook, on a train in Dalhart, TX. They were married on April 19, 1945. Walt and Trudy traveled the Northwest working in construction. Trudy enjoyed playing and teaching bridge, doing handicrafts, reading, bowling and working crossword puzzles. She was an excellent cook. Trudy was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and Yellow Bay Club House on the East Lake Shore.
As her children were growing up she was very involved in their lives, being a Cub Scout den mother and Girl Scout leader.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter and a great-grandson.
Trudy is survived by her husband, Walt; her daughters, Glenda Gay, Lynn and husband Jack Siple and Trudy Faris; sons, George and wife Linda and Gary; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandkids; and her sister, Ruth Bush.
Trudy will be cremated with private family services held at a later date.
Memorials may be sent to the Yellow Bay Club House or Bigfork East Shore Lions.
DeWayne Leroy Wilhelm
DeWayne Leroy Wilhelm, 47, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002 at his home in Rosebud.
He was born Aug. 2, 1954, in Davenport, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his sister Deanna Rae Wilhelm.
He is survived by his wife Ronda; his daughter Heather and two sons, Buck and JR all of Rosebud; his parents Chuck and Mona Wilhelm of Forsyth; and two sisters, Debra Nesbit of Wolf Point and Dolly Ferris of Miles City.
Funeral services were held Feb. 13, 2002 in Forsyth.
Jean L. Pederson
Jean L. Pederson, 64, of Green Valley died at home on Feb. 6, 2002.
She was born May 5, 1937, in Wolf Point.
She attended Kinman Business University.
She was proceded in death by son Brett; sisters, Denise Brenden and Marilyn Lemueau, and father Joe Pilgrim. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Kent of Sandy, Utah and Scott of Orlando, Fla.; mother Edna Pilgrim of Wolf Point; two sisters Lois Renvold of Wolf Point, Julie Ruhl of Bozeman, Gail Clingingsmith of Glendive, and Carol Nelson of Shelby; brothers Joe Pilgrim of Wolf Point and Gary Pilgrim of Manitou Springs, Colo; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services were held on Friday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m., at the Valley Presbyterian Church.
Robert V. Dumont, Sr.
Robert V. Dumont, Sr. died on Feb. 17, 2002 at Faith Home in Wolf Point. He was born Sept. 29, 1916, in Poplar. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily; ;and two brothers, Vernon and Nathan. He is survived by a daughter Nancy Dumont of Wolf Point.
Ronald K. Remley
Ronald K. Remley, 61, died at Kalispell Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, Feb. 12. He was born in Wolf Point on Jan. 8, 1941. He is survived by his sisters, Barbara Henrichsen of Libby and Betty Kluth of Vida; and eleven nieces and seven nephews.
Nettie Teichroew
Nettie Teichroew, 89, of Glasgow, died Feb. 16, 2002, at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow. Funeral servcies will be held Thursday, Feb. 21, the Clayton Memorial Chapel with Pastor David Lind Officiating. Full obit next issue.
