Kim Marie "Kimmie" Hurley
Kim Marie “Kimmie” Hurley, 50, of Miles City died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010. She would have been 51 years old on Nov. 6, 2010, and was the eldest of four children born to Robert and Dorothy Hurley of Anaconda.
She was born and raised in Anaconda where she attended grade school and high school. In high school she demonstrated an exceptional athletic ability. She was repeatedly chosen captain of her softball team, which won several state championships. When she wasn’t controlling first base or slamming home runs she was hurling the discus in track and field competitions. Despite the fact that she had the ability to perform at an all-state level in these events she excelled at swimming. She established several state records that remained unbroken for years.
After graduating from high school she went on to study marine biology at the University of Oregon, where she had earned a scholarship for her swimming ability. She soon realized that marine biology was not her true vocational calling and took a brief educational hiatus. After resuming her educational pursuits she earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Montana State University-Bozeman. She was employed as an operating room nurse at St. Vincent’s in Billings.

She loved the outdoors, be it a quiet leisurely ride through the country or a long and arduous hunting trip, she was always eager to participate, she especially loved fishing and was a very accomplished and competent angler, often times to the embarrassment and shame of her humiliated fishing partners.
Her life took on some strenuous complications in recent years and anyone wishing to assume the mantle of judgment is more than free to do so.
Her survivors include her parents, Robert and Dorothy Hurley of Anaconda; brothers, Rob (Shannon) Hurley and their children Landon, Canyon, River of Anaconda and Scott Hurley of Anaconda; sister, Brenda (Ed) McGreevey and their children Taylor and Easton; long-time companion John Grywusiewicz; and several nieces and nephews, including, Gary, Ed, David, Tommie, Steve, Raita, Eva, Ira, Ian, Erica and Stephanie and Johns’ brother, Iggie.
She had the capacity to love with a generous, sincere and open heart and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral and burial services are pending in Anaconda.

Georga Jayne Fluss Johnson
Georga Jayne Fluss Johnson, 63, of Terry died with her family by her side, on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, at Billings Clinic in Billings.
Mrs. Johnson was born on Sept. 16, 1947, in Miles City, the daughter of Jay and M. Lucille Barber Fluss. She grew up on the –G ranch south of Terry and attended school in Terry. In the country there were always chores to do, but she found time to enjoy the animals and horseback riding. She played saxophone in the band and enjoyed going to her brother’s basketball games. She always looked up to her sister and treasured their friendship.
After graduating from Terry High School in 1965, she attended Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis where she received airline and secretarial training. In 1966 she worked for National Airlines in New York City along with a two-month trip to Europe where she celebrated her 22nd birthday.
In 1967 she worked as a secretary for Continental Can Company in Minneapolis. Two years later she moved to Denver, Colo., where she worked for Tempco, Inc. She then returned to Minneapolis to work for Mutual of Omaha and Robb, Van Eps and Gilmore-Attorneys at Law.
While in Minnesota, she met her soul mate, Ronald Johnson, and they later married on April 30, 1971, in Taylors Falls, Minn. They welcomed their first child, Melissa, in 1973.
In 1974 they moved to Miles City and in 1976 to Terry. Their son, Jay, arrived in 1977. After spending many years home with her children, she worked at the Terry Post Office for 18 years.
One of Mrs. Johnson’s passions was genealogy. She always cherished life’s simple pleasures … her flower garden, watching the birds outside her window and especially a good visit and a laugh with a friend. She had such a sweet voice and she would always take the time to listen. More than anything, she had an amazing passion and love for her family. When she talked about her grandchildren, Maddie and Ben, her eyes would sparkle. We feel so very blessed to have been adored and loved by such a beautiful woman.

Mrs. Childers died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at the Fallon Medical Complex in Baker.
She was born to Edward and Bertha Stiles Striebel on Nov. 9, 1922, in Miles City. Mrs. Childers grew up in Marmarth and attended school there until her graduation in 1940.
After graduation she attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Mo. She was given a lifetime tuition certificate and sent home in October 1942 due to the war effort needing the college for housing for the soldiers. She returned to Marmarth and went to work in Baker for Montana-Dakota Utilities.
She and Pat (Asbury) Childers were married on April 29, 1944 in Miles City. On March 3, 1945 they were blessed with the birth of a daughter, Patti Beryl. On July 22, 1952 they were again blessed by the birth of their second daughter, Roxi Ann.
They lived in Marmarth until 1966 when Mr. Childers’ job made it necessary for them to move to Mobridge, S.D. They lived in Mobridge until 1988 when his health issues brought them home to Marmarth (where Mrs. Childers’ heart had always remained). She cared for her husband until his death in April 1995, first at home and then driving to Bowman every day when his health deteriorated and he required hospitalization.
Mrs. Childers was an active community member in her beloved Marmarth throughout her lifetime. In her younger years she was a member of the Eastern Star, Milwaukee Women’s Club and the Birthday Club. She helped organize the All School Reunions for Marmarth and never missed a Christmas or Fourth of July (her favorite holidays) in Marmarth, even when she live in Mobridge.
In later years, she was a member of the Marmarth Historical Society, The Salvation Army Pantry and helped with every community function in her Marmarth.
She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, hunting, bingo and cooking (her angel food cakes appeared at every social function in town). Her passion was her family and she was so dedicated to the role that she was known to everyone under the age of 60 as ‘Gramma Beryl.’ Every child in town came running when she came around because they knew she always had gum and goodies in her pocket for them.
Mrs. Childers was a very independent person. With the help of three very special people, Nona Neidge, Crystal Hamlin and Jennifer Lecoe, she remained living at home and continued to be actively involved in the Marmarth community.
Her survivors include two daughters, Patti (Gary) Perry and Roxi (Tom) Lecoe, all of Marmarth; four grandchildren, Hailey (Wally) Dschaak, Heidi Perry (Mike Schoch), Bryce (Jennifer) Lecoe, and Amber (Michael) Battest; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
