DOROTHY TERESA JUDD
RED LODGE - On May 20, 2004, Dorothy Teresa Judd went home to be with God and family after a courageous fight with cancer — leaving us, but not our hearts. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and true friend.
Dorothy was born on June 1, 1918 in Lincoln, Neb. to Elroy and Flossie Harlan. She was raised and attended schools in Lincoln, including the University of Nebraska. She majored in business and worked as a secretary. Her parents hosted a picnic for several soldiers where Dorothy met the love of her life, Ray Judd. They married October 9, 1943 in Macon, Georgia, and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. As Ray was a military pilot in World War II, Dorothy followed him throughout his career. After the war, they moved to Absarokee, Mont. and then in 1955 to Red Lodge.

Dorothy’s chosen career was to provide a warm and loving home for her family. Dorothy was a member and officer in Venus Chapter #32 of the Eastern Star. She bowled for forty years, was an election judge, a pink lady for the hospital and nursing home, and a member of Red Lodge Community Church and Women’s Fellowship. Dorothy and Ray played couples pinochle for many years with their friends. She loved crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble with her family, watching ice-skating and the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers football on TV.
Dorothy was a wonderful and welcoming hostess for her family and friends. She treasured lunches and coffees with the ladies.
Dorothy’s cherished way with words was reflected in the letters she wrote and in her humor. Her gentle spirit and faith gave hope and strength to all who knew her.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 26 at the Red Lodge Community Church, with Pastor David Munson officiating. Interment followed in the Red Lodge Cemetery. Smith-Olcott Funeral Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
