Jean (Billie Jean) Phylllis Bouma
(August 27, 1924 - September 14, 2011)
Jean Phyllis (Billie Jean) Bouma passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital, September 14, 2011.
She was born to Edmun and Jean Moore on August 27, 1924 in Anaconda, Montana.
The family later moved to the mining town of Marysville, Montana where Billie Jean spent most of her childhood.
She graduated from Helena Cathedral High School in 1942.
She was married
in 1950; the couple had a daughter and later divorced in 1952.
She was married
to her late husband, Richard Bouma in 1974 for 33 years.
Billie Jean retired from Fort Harrison Veterans Administration after 27 years of service.
Billie Jean had a passion for music and art.
She played the piano from early childhood throughout her life.
After retirement, she developed her skills in oil, water and charcoal mediums.
She looked forward to her Tuesday night art group who met weekly for over 20 years.
Billie Jean was an active member of: The American Legion Auxiliary, Community Home Care Association and NARFE.
Billie Jean was able to maintain her independence with the help of neighbors, friends and family whom she loved and was grateful to have in her life.
Billie Jean is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and John Eusek; also granddaughter, Angela Jean Groudle-Hjert; grandson, Edmun Eusek and great granddaughters, Erika Groudle, Victoria and Jenna Eusek.
Funeral services will not be held by a request of Billie Jean.
A celebration of Life reception will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Jorgenson’s Restaurant, 1720 11th Ave., Helena.
Friends are welcome to come and share memories with the family.
KARI THURMAN
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Kari Ann Thurman, 41, died Saturday, May 3, 2003, in Sacramento, Calif., due to a massive stroke.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Holland and Bonine Funeral Chapel in Havre, with the Rev. Zoe Coutts officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
Kari was born March 8, 1962, in Madera, Calif. She moved to Cut Bank at an early age and attended schools there. She then moved to Havre with her family and attended Lanae's College of Beauty and graduated in cosmetology. She also attended MSU-Northern. She was employed by Kmart in Havre for several years and worked as a waitress and in retail in Sacramento.
Kari enjoyed cross-stitch, computers, music and had a special love for cats.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Thurman, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Kari is survived by her parents, Cal and Kay Loudermilk, of Havre; sisters, Shannon (Stan) Martin and Jodie Thurman of Havre, Stacy Griessmer of Great Falls, Celeste Thurman-Lee of Stockton, Calif., Angela Bermurdez of Visalia, Calif., and Simcha Johnson of Tulare, Calif.; companion, Bob LaFrenier, and his children, Nicholette and Gene, all of Sacramento, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

CHARLES SHAFFER
Charles Franklin Shaffer, 90, died on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, due to emphysema.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Havre. A luncheon will follow at the church.
Charles was born on Sept. 10, 1913, to Charles Wesley and Susie (Andrus) Shaffer in Lebanon, Kan. He moved with his family to Montana in 1918, where they homesteaded north of Havre.
He worked various jobs, retiring from Northern Montana College as a custodian. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II receiving a Purple Heart and an honorable discharge.
On July 1, 1946, he married
Adeline "Georgia" Cox in Helena.
He was a member of the Eagles and the Elks.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia, and twin daughters in 1950; parents, Charles Wesley and Susie Shaffer in 1968; brother, George Shaffer in 1960; and sister Dorothy Knudson in 1986.
Survivors include his daughter, Susie Beston of Havre; grandchildren, Torrie Cushman and Candace Beston, both of Great Falls, and Brian Beston of Seattle; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Nina Wales of Van Nuys, Calif.; special friend, Bonnie Hranac of Havre; several cousins, including Thelma Neely of Billings; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 825 Helena Ave., Helena, MT, or to a donor's choice.

LAWRENCE NORMANDY
Lawrence Eugene Normandy Sr., 56, died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2003, at his home of cancer.
Cremation will take place. At his request, there will be no services.
Lawrence was born on Sept. 24, 1947, south of Havre to Donald and Alice (Ackanow) Normandy Sr. He was raised and educated in the Havre area. He entered into the U.S. Army in 1966, he was honorably discharged in 1967.
He married
Sarita Hiatt in 1967 and the couple later divorced.
Lawrence enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, watching football and dancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister.
Survivors include his son, Lawrence Normandy Jr. of Havre; brother, Don (Lois) Normandy Jr. of Havre; sisters, Paulette (Delbert) Kagel of Foreman, Ark., Audrey (Larry) St. Germain of Great Falls, and
Debbie (Morris) St. Piere of Rocky Boy; special friend, Sally Miller of Havre; stepchildren, Missie (Kevin) Miller/Smith of Lolo, Thomas (Natalie) Miller of Casper, Wyo., John (Chantel) Bauthier of Florence, and Kenneth Bauthier of Austin, Texas; and nine grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to a memorial of one's choice.

"Betty" Elizabeth Margaret Olson
(December 18, 1918 - September 13, 2011)
Elizabeth (Betty) M. Olson, 92, passed away September 13, 2011.
She was born December 18, 1918 in Arnegard, North Dakota to Henry and Margaret Olson.
She grew up on a farm in Rawson, North Dakota and went to Minot College where she met her husband Eugene (Gene) Olson.
They married
while he was in the Navy and they spent 62 wonderful years together.
She and Gene moved to Bozeman, Montana after he left the Navy.
He became a car salesman, and Betty became a teacher and taught Special Education.
When they retired they moved to Goose Bay Marina on Canyon Ferry Lake in Townsend, MT.
They also became snowbirds going to AZ during the winter months for a few years.
Betty and Gene then moved into Helena, but continued to travel.
Betty loved everyone and you could not get by her without a hug.
She was active in Church and was part of the Methodist Woman’s group at Covenant United Methodist Church in Helena.
She also belonged to the Red Hats.
After her husband passed away, she moved to Hunters Pointe until dementia took its toll.
She then moved to Sharon’s Sunshine Care where she was well loved and cared for, still giving great hugs to everyone.
She is survived by her sister Violet Young in Massachusetts, Son Bruce Olson in Bozeman Montana, Granddaughter Sarah Monroe in Texas, a niece Bonnie Norris in Great Falls, Montana and numerous other nieces and nephews around the country.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Gene Olson in 2004, her daughter Janice Olson in 2007 and a son Jerry at age 3.
We welcome all her friends and anyone she hugged to her Memorial Service at Covenant United Methodist Church on Tuesday Sept 20th at 12:00.
Interment will follow at the Montana State Veterans cemetery at Fort Harrison.
There will be a reception at the church for those who wish to share their memories following graveside services.
TERRANCE BRADY
Terrance "Ted" Brady, 86, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at a Havre care center of natural causes.
A prayer vigil will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Holland and Bonine Funeral Chapel. A funeral Mass will be 2 p.m. Friday at the St. Jude Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert D. Grosch officiating. Burial will follow at the Calvary cemetery in Havre. A fellowship will be held at the St. Jude Parish Center immediately after the graveside services.
Ted was born March 19, 1917, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Britton) Brady in Cottonwood.
In 1938 he married
Mary McKernan in Havre. He worked as a conductor on the Burlington Northern Railroad for 37 years and retired in 1982.
He was a loving, caring husband and father and loved to help others. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and carpentry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, daughter, Cathy Ann, and a son-in-law.
Survivors include his wife, Mary of Havre; children, Doris Suek of Portland, Ore.; Terry (Roberta) of Missoula, Jim (Mary) of Malta, Jack (Linda) of Havre, Marilyn and the late Claude Miner of Big Sandy, Tom of Havre, Annmarie (Randy) Robinson of Havre, and Patty (Martin) Alley of Joplin; 13 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and brother, Bill Brady of Hamilton.
