EDNA THOMPSON
Edna A. Thompson, 87, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at a Havre care center.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Highland cemetery and a memorial service is to begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Northern Montana Care Center Chapel with Ila McClenahan officiating.
Edna was born on Jan. 7, 1916, south of Havre in the Bear Paw Mountains. She spent her early years on the family ranch in the Bear Paw Mountains on the Little Box Elder Creek. She moved to Havre with her parents in the late 1950s.
At the time of her mother's death in 1997, Edna moved to the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, which became Northern Montana Care Center.
In her early years, Edna enjoyed picking berries and learned to embroider and to bake from her mother. Her cherry pies and breads, especially fry bread, were favorites of her nieces and nephews. Edna always loved holding and rocking babies and assembling jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Rosa Thompson, and her brothers, John and Tom Thompson.
Survivors include her brother, William Thompson of Williston, N.D.; sisters, Catherine Bradbury of Havre and Elizabeth Brown, south of Chinook; many nieces and nephews; and the staff and residents of the Northern Montana Care Center and Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd who were her extended family and enriched her life in many ways.
Memorials may be made to the Northern Montana Care Center.
Arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
Norman Daley
Memorial services were held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, in Las Vegas, Nev., for Valley County native, Norman Daley, who died from natural causes on Friday, Nov. 8, at the age of 86.
He was born north of Nashua to early day homesteaders, Rose and John Daley, and lived in this area for several years before relocating to Las Vegas where he was a businessman for more than 40 years.
Local survivors include a brother, Earl Daley, one sister, Doris Maas, and sister-in-law Frances Daley, and several nephews and nieces in the area.
JAMES EPLER
HARLEM - James Joseph Epler, 63, died of an intestinal rupture at his home Thursday evening, Aug. 7, 2003.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Harlem High School gymnasium with burial following in the Harlem cemetery. Cremation has taken place at his request.
Jim was born on Oct. 17, 1939, in Glasgow to Keith and Cathleen (Ramey) Epler. He graduated from Harlem High School and attended Northern Montana College in Havre.
Jim married
Marcella Poore of Zurich on Sept. 9, 1961. He worked for Knute Kulbeck and lived and worked on the Brook Farm, which was also known as the Mohar Place. They moved several times but remained in the Harlem area. Jim also worked for the O'Leary's Service Station. In 1966 Jim started his own construction business. In 1979 they moved to town, where Jim continued his full-time construction business. In June of 1991 they purchased the Handy Market.
Jim was preceded in death by his son Curtis Epler in 1985
Survivors include his wife, Marcella Epler of Harlem; daughters, Cindy (Darryl) Magnuson of Billings and Candus (Robert) Scheffelmaer of Harlem; parents, Keith and Cathleen Epler of Billings; sister, Margaret "Peg" (Dwight) Grimm of Argile, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Jalmer O. Flom
Jalmer O. Flom, 70, died from natural causes on Monday, Nov. 11, 2002.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 15, at 11 a.m., at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Nashua with Rev. Martin Mock officiating. Interment will be in the Nashua City cemetery. Bell Mortuary in Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on Sept. 17, 1932, in Scobey to Julius and Olga (Udahl) Flom. He attended schools in Harlem, McCone County, and Nashua. He served in the U.S. Army in the 24th Division in Korea. When he returned he worked at construction and farmed.
He married
Sandra Hedges at Nashua in 1957. She worked as a waitress in Bainville while he was working on construction. They lived in the Los Angeles area until 1960. He had lived in the Nashua – Fort Peck area until 1965. He enjoyed animals, baseball, hunting, fishing and was always willing to help family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra, in 1993.
Survivors include one son, James Flom of Sun River; one daughter, Jeri Flom of Portland, Ore.; one brother, Kermit Flom of Nashua; six sisters, Phyllis Houston of St. Marie, Geraldine Dahl of Glasgow, Joyce Fuhrmann of Great Falls, Karen Fuhrmann of Nashua, Jackie Bird of Nashua and Betty Flom-Voeller of Minot, ND.
IRENE MILLER
Irene D. Miller, 79, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at a Havre care center of natural causes.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Alfred Ebel officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland cemetery. A fellowship will be held at the church immediately after the services at the graveside.
Irene was born on March 22, 1924, in Glasgow to Matthew and Margaret (Wisch) Voss. As a young girl, Irene attended schools in Rudyard and Cottonwood. She graduated from Chinook High School in 1943. After completing high school, Irene went to work in Havre for an auto dealership as a secretary/receptionist.
She met J.H. (Junior) Miller and the couple were married
on Nov. 23, 1946, in Glasgow. They made their home in Havre for a short time, until they moved to Shelby, Dillon and then Great Falls, while he worked for a construction company. The family returned to Havre in 1950 when Junior began working for the railroad as a truck driver. Irene went to work for Culligan Water Company in 1976 and worked there as the bookkeeper for 10 years.
Irene enjoyed sewing, crocheting, genealogy, gardening and canning. For many years, she taught Sunday School and Bible School at St. Paul Lutheran Church . She was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, serving as their secretary for a time. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, J. H. (Junior) Miller in 1993; and one brother, Alfred Voss.
Survivors include her children, Judy Bricker of Havre, Bill Miller of Great Falls and Kate Miller and her husband Gary Swanson of Butte; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Addie R. Johnson
Addie R. Johnson, 88, a former Glasgow resident, died on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, of natural causes at Edgewood Vista in Billings, Mont.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m., at the Bell Chapel in Glasgow with Edward Frueh officiating. Burial will be in the Highland cemetery in Glasgow. Bell Mortuary in Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on April 2, 1913, in Phillips County, the daughter of Amedie and Mary LaFond. On June 2, 1930 she married
Edward Johnson. They made their home in Glasgow where they raised eight children.
She was involved in the St. Raphael’s Catholic Church and active in the Altar Society for many years. She enjoyed being with her family, sewing and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, and a son, Donald.
Survivors include her brother, Wilford LaFond of Mesa, Ariz.; five daughters, Rita Olds and her husband, Bill of Cascade, Sharon Mowbray and her husband, Steve of Aurora, Colo., Joanne McGarraugh and her husband, Pat of Bigfork, Gail Langen and her husband, John of Las Vegas, Nev., and Kim Stroumbos.
WILLIS HANSON
Willis L. Hanson, 75, of Havre died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rowlie Hutton officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at the Highland cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Methodist Church immediately after services at the graveside.
Willis was born on Sept. 7, 1927, in Gildford to Arnold and Sylvia (Meyers) Hanson. He attended Gildford Public Schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Oakland and USS Arnold Isabell during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1948.
On Sept. 3, 1950, he married
Daphne Jean Corniea in Havre. Willis was employed at various implement dealers in Havre.
Willis was an avid gardener. He was a member of the Lions Club in Havre and held many offices while he was a member. He also served on the Hill County cemetery Board for many years and was instrumental in establishing the Havre Community Pool.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Jean, in 1999.
Willis is survived by his sons, Mark Hanson of Richland, Wash., and Paul Hanson of Havre; daughter, Denise G. Hanson of Havre; and three grandchildren.

Jim Stover
Jim Stover, 70, from The Dalles, Ore., died from cancer on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003.
He was a 1951 graduate of Frazer High School.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; five children; his brother, Donald “Smokey” Stover and his wife, Vivian of Nashua; nieces and nephews and cousins in the area.
BRADLEY CORCORAN
THE DALLES, Ore. - Bradley "Dick" Thomas Corcoran, 67, a resident of The Dalles, died on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2003.
Mass of Christian burial was held Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Rev. Todd Unger officiating. Interment was at The Dalles Odd Fellows cemetery on Cherry Heights.
He was born on Oct. 21, 1935, in Harlem to Joseph and Delia (Corchane) Corcoran. He was raised in Box Elder and graduated from high school in Box Elder in 1952.
He entered the U.S. Army after high school and was discharged in 1954. He enrolled at Rocky Mountain College and graduated in 1961. He started teaching in Flora, Ore., and continued his teaching career in Kremlin and Packwood, Wash. He settled in Dallesport, Wash., in 1966. He taught at both Dallesport and Lyle schools before retiring in 1975. He and his wife, Diane, then started Transportion Services, contracting with Burlington Northern Railway to transport workers throughout Oregon and Washington. In 1988, he moved to Hammond, Ore., and moved to The Dalles in 2002.
He married
his wife, Diane, on July 11, 1973, in Stevenson, Wash.
He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation, and various other organizations. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert, and stepson, Ronald Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Diane of The Dalles; daughters, Charlene (Tom) Ames and Yvonne (Tim) Arbogast, all of Hood River, and Marsha (Chris) Highfield of Dufur, Ore.; son, Bradley (Debra) Corcoran Jr. of Meridian, Idaho; stepdaughters, Laura Fisher of Wilsonville, Ore., and Leslie Newman of Beaverton, Ore.; sister, Mary Ann Reum of Kremlin; brothers, Bert Corcoran of Havre and John Corcoran of Great Falls; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Walter G. Dahl
1934 - 2012
Walter G. Dahl of Great Falls, Mont., 77, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, in Boise Idaho. He was born in Glasgow, Mont., on July 14, 1934.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline; one sister, Charlotte Tipton and her husband, Ed, of Glasgow; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment will be graveside services on Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. in great Falls at Mount Olivet cemetery.
