John Reading
John Junior Reading, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, died Feb. 2, 2004, in Kalispell Regional Medical Center, and returned to his Heavenly Father and into the arms of his life-long sweetheart, who passed away just four weeks earlier.
He was born July 2, 1920, to John J. and Elizabeth (Hobbs) Reading in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He married Georgia on June 21, 1940, in the Logan, Utah Temple and together they had five children.
He honorably served his country in the U. S. Navy. He hauled cattle for many years.
His life-long dream of being a cattle rancher brought him to the Flathead Valley where he purchased a dairy farm in 1957. After ending his career on the farm, he worked for Stockton Mobile Homes where he moved and installed mobile home trailers.
He later was a custodian for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he retired as a physical facility representative.
He was an active LDS member, serving in many callings including Bishop.
He had a love for life and a great sense of humor. Family road trips went by fast because of his ability to entertain with unlimited volumes of jokes, stories and songs.
He was very well known for his musical talent in the singing and enjoyed sharing his live for music with others.
He was a caring, diplomatic and fun-loving man and will be missed by all those who were blessed to have him be a part of their lives.
He is survived by his sister, Dolline Beesley of St. George, Utah; five children, Martha Reading of Kalispell, Julie Parmenter of Phoenix, Ariz., Kenneth Reading and wife Dorothy of Houston, Texas, Hal Reading and wife Lini of Whitefish, and Sally Forman and husband Mark of Riverton, Utah; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held today (Thursday), at 11 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1380 Whitefish Stage Road, Kalispell.
Family visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the Relief Society Room.
The family suggests memorials to the Primary Children's Medical Center at 100 North Medical Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, 84113.
Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.
John Franklin Blodgett, III
John Franklin Blodgett, III, of Whitefish, passed away on Jan. 31, 2004, of a sudden illness. The world will be a lesser place for the passing of one of its few truly great men.
He was born Feb. 20, 1945, to John F. Blodgett Jr. and Kathryn Dolores (MacDougall) in Everett, Wash. He graduated from high school in 1963 on Bainbridge Island. He attended Whitworth College in Spokane, Wash., prior to joining the Marine Corps. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1968.
During his early adult life, he enjoyed commercial fishing, and during the off-seasons he worked in various hotels in the Seattle area, eventually segueing into full-time employment with the Vance Hotels. Hotel management led him to Sitka, where he met and married his wife, Liz, in 1983. He and Liz lived throughout the Northwest, settling in Whitefish in 1996, where he managed the Rocky Mountain Lodge up until the time of his death.
He loved golfing and all sports, especially at the high school level. He was an avid Bulldogs supporter. He was also involved in several community projects in Whitefish. He will be deeply missed for his patience and compassion, as well as his witty sense of humor.
His greatest legacy is the family he created, and who will now miss him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn.
He is survived by his loving wife, Liz; daughters, Katy and Brettaigne at home; a son, Dallas, of Missoula; his father, Jack; brother Jeff of Georgia; sister, Jayne of Washington; as well as several nephews, cousins, and of course, his many friends.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 8, at the Central School auditorium in Whitefish at 2 p.m. In keeping with his love of Hawaii, aloha attire is requested. A reception follows at Rocky Mountain Lodge in Whitefish.
Staying true to his giving nature, his final gift was to the Northwest Tissue Foundation. The family suggests that those wishing to make a donation in his memory, please remember the American Diabetes Association.
The family would like to thank the North Valley Hospital Emergency Room staff for their kind, compassionate, and excellent care during his final moments. We will miss you Dad.
HUGO DELVIN LAMPI
June 8, 1916 - June 24, 2003
RED LODGE — Hugo Delvin Lampi, 87, of Red Lodge, died at the Montana Nursing Care Center in Lewistown on June 24, 2003. He was born June 8, 1916, in Red Lodge, to Svante and Selma Lampi. He was raised on a farm northwest of Roberts in the Cottonwood area and received his education at a country school there.
Hugo was united in marriage to Irene Nikula on October 1, 1940, in Red Lodge. They resided and raised their four children in Red Lodge, after moving in 1945 from Roberts, where he worked on farms, in trucking, and at the Benbow mine. After moving to Red Lodge in 1945, he worked at several mines, including Foster and Brophy near Bearcreek, Mouat, Butte, Benbow, Garrison and Jeffrey City and Green River, Wyo. He also worked on the construction of Yellowtail Dam, the nursing home addition of the Carbon County Memorial Hospital and various construction jobs in Billings and Laurel.
Hugo loved Montana, where he could indulge his passions of fishing and hunting with friends and family, most preferably with his sons. He also enjoyed going into the mountain areas to gather wood for his woodstove. Of Finnish heritage, he traveled twice to Finland. He loved Finnish foods and customs, particularly the sauna. He had an open invitation to friends in Red Lodge to use the sauna he built in his home. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Red Lodge for many years, as well as the Knights of Kaleva. He enjoyed watching television programs with political commentary, country music, dancing, playing cards and crossword puzzles. He also enjoyed spectator sports of all kinds and was an avid Dodgers baseball fan.
Mr. Lampi was preceded in death by his wife, Irene; his daughter, Judi Lampi Rowe; sisters, Melba Marshall and Helen Werholz; and brothers, Emil and Leonard Lampi.
Survivors include two sons, Ray (Judy) Lampi and Rohnn (Leslie) Lampi, all of Billings; one daughter, Donna (Rick) Beitel of Midland, Mich.; three sisters, Mildred Kansala, Elsie Normile and Norma Lampi of Red Lodge, plus several nieces and nephews; 12 grand- children, Denise (Michael) Kok of Auburn, Wash., Dave Lampi of Billings, Janelle (Yoki) Valov of Spokane, Wash., Doug Durr of Mesa, Ariz., Dawna Rae (Gerald) Morton of Spokane, Bryan (Melissa) Beitel of Livingston, Daron Beitel of Northville, Mich., Kacy Beitel of Denver and Eric, Lindsay, Jessica and Jordan Lampi, all of Billings. Also, 12 great-grandchildren, Kira, Nicholas, Jonathan and Joseph Valov, Krista, Holly and Danielle Durr, Shyann and Trace Morton, Jakob and Jaxson Kok, and Emma Beitel.
“Dad/Grampa, we love you and will miss you very much.”
Funeral services were held Monday, June 30, at the Smith-Olcott Funeral Chapel in Red Lodge, with interment in the Red Lodge Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Knights of Kaleva, the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of one’s choice.
MEAH ANNE KRUM
BOZEMAN – Our little angel, Meah Anne Krum, died of natural causes on Saturday, June 28, 2003.
Her parents are Jeramie and Jessie Krum of Bozeman, formerly of the Belfry area.
Meah was born June 8, 2003 in Billings.
Surviving besides her parents are: Grandparents, Julie and Darrel Krum of Belfry, Noralee Hoefer and Harvey Willis of Clark, Wyo; Great-grandparents, Les and Maybelle Judkins of Bridger, Martin and Cindy Krum of Belfry, Florence Krum of Billings, Wilda Hoefer of Clark, Wyo., and Mary Willis of Powell, Wyo.
Cremation is planned.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, July 2, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bridger.
Smith-Olcott Funeral Chapel of Red Lodge was in charge of arrangements.
Catherine Holien
Catherine Larter Thomen Holien passed away on April 8, 2004. She was born Nov. 9, 1916, in Whitefish to Nettie and Vernon Larter.
She was married to Cal Thomen, and is survived by Barbara LaRogue of Whitefish and Vernon Thomen of Bull Lake, Troy.
She remarried, to Andrew Holien, Oct. 11, 1960. He had four children, including Ray Holien of Whitefish, several nephews and nieces, 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Catherine loved to work in flowers, walk in the woods, watch animals and look at the trees and mountains.
Edwina "Sunny" Lynch
Edwina Lynch died June 26, 2004, as a result of an auto accident.
She was born on April 28, 1919, to Edward and Lillian Sundholm in Brooklyn, New York.
She attended Duke University in North Carolina and received a degree in English and Foreign Languages in 1940.
Sunny served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and married Donald Lynch of Highwood, Mont., in 1945.
She is survived by her husband, Donald Lynch, and children; David Lynch of Los Angeles, Calif., John Lynch of Olympia, Wash., and Martha Lynch Levacy of Coronado, Calif. She has nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Sunny and Don have been part-time residents of Whitefish for the past 24 years and they also maintain a home in Riverside, Calif.
Sunny was an active member of the Presbyterian Church in both Whitefish and Riverside.
She was a great mother to her three children and supported them through numerous activities.
She was a devoted wife to her husband Don and a faithful friend to many. Her loving strength will be missed.
A memorial service was held June 30 at the First Presbyterian Church in Whitefish, with the Rev. Andy Kennaly officiating.
Burial will take place at a later date at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.

Lillie Lammert
Lillie Frances Prouty Lammert, 70, Whitefish, passed away May 29, 2004, at Brendan House in Kalispell.
She was born May 26, 1934, to William and Leona Prouty on their ranch just north of Metaline Falls, Wash., where she grew up and attended school. She started tending bar in California, later moving back to Metaline Falls where she continued bartending.
She moved to Hungry Horse in 1976 to care for her parents.
In Hungry Horse she continued bartending until retiring in 1993.
After her retirement she moved to Mountain View Manor in Whitefish, where she lived until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one granddaughter.
She is survived by her son Darrell and his wife Nancy Hicks of Kalispell; one daughter, Lucinda Sharp, one sister, Peggy Bishop of Modesto, Calif., eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, one niece, one nephew and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
At Lillie's request, she was cremated with no funeral services and her ashes will be buried next to her parents in Colville, Wash.
Memorial may be made to Brendan House or Home Options Hospice of Kalispell. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
