Lois Becker Behm
Lois Edna Becker Behm, 89, known as “The Park Lady, ” died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008.
She was born July 20, 1918, in Chicago.
She married
Oswald Becker in 1938, and they moved Montana before his death in 1954. She married
Robert Behm in 1966.
Prior to a long career with the federal government, she was known as the “Park Lady” by children who visited Terry Park.
Survivors include four children, Arthur Becker of Jackson, Wyo., Sheridan Becker of Billings, Forrest “Woody” Becker of Rohnert Park, Calif., and Peggy Wilson of Billings; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
At her request, no services were planned.
Arrangements were by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.
DONALD ANDERSON
Donald B. Anderson, 79, of Havre died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at Havre.
A funeral Mass was held Saturday at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic in Circle with the Rev. Leo McDowell officiating. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church.
Don was born on Nov. 19, 1924, at Scranton, N.D., and was raised on the family farm at Haley, N.D. He graduated from Buffalo High School in Buffalo, S.D., in 1943 and entered the Navy in 1945. He served in Whiting Field, Pensacola, Fla., and Hawaii before being honorably discharged in 1948. He then served in the naval reserve until 1956.
Don married
Ramona Giannonatti on Dec. 17, 1953, in Buffalo, S.D. and lived there until they moved to Glendive in 1955. In 1957 they moved to Circle, and he went to work for McCone Electric Coop in September of 1958. He worked there until he retired in November of 1987. Don and Ramona moved to Havre in 1996 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. He resided in Havre until his death.
Don was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4813 in Circle, an Elks member, and a member of the MSU-Northern Booster Club in Havre and the Havre High Blue Pony Booster Club.
Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years, Ramona; daughters, Dawn (Larry) Quick, and Sharon (Mark) Hedstrom of Havre; son, Arlin, of Billings; brothers, Kenneth Anderson of Billings and Edward Anderson of Fallon; sisters, Renee Lehman of Lignite, N.D., and Etta Maher of Glendive; grandchildren, Chad, David and Kristy Quick and Trish (Scott) Tallini, Priscilla and Jena Curtiss, and Chance Anderson, Jared and Josh Weigel; step-grandchildren, Jeff and Amanda Hedstrom; and one great-granddaughter.
Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point is in charge of the arrangements.
Travis Chase Bunnell
Travis Chase Bunnell, infant son of Chad and Brandi Bunnell, died of unknown causes on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at his home in Billings.
He was born Oct. 13, 2007, in Billings.
Survivors include his parents; brothers, Kelly, Theodore Joseph and Allen; sister, Haley; grandparents, Max and Susan Cleverley of Shelby, Ted Bunnell of Billings and Mary and Hugh Graham of Billings; and great-grandparents, Allen and Lorraine Baese of Big Fork.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery.
STACEY AMBO
POTOMAC - Stacey Ann "Stace" Ambo, 39, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003.
Memorial Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kings Christian Church at 10225 South, U.S. Highway 93 between Missoula and Lolo.
Stace was born on Jan. 25, 1964, in Great Falls to Victor Ambo and Doris Fae Tompkins. She attended Bonner Grade School and Hellgate High School.
In 1981, she married
Larry D. Bush of Seeley Lake. In 1995, she married
David Skones of Havre.
Stace was a spiritual person. She held her church families at the Sixth Avenue Christian Church in Havre and the King's Christian Church in Missoula close to her heart. Her greatest accomplishments were the love and utmost respect for her Lord Jesus Christ and raising her three children in the way of the Lord.
Stace was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Fae Tompkins.
Survivors include her father, Victor Ambo of Potomac; sons, Cole Victor Bush of Helena and Zjahn-Paul Skones of Potomac; daughter, Kyleena Kay Bush of Seeley Lake; brothers, Scott Ambo of Hot Springs and Jeffrey Ambo of Missoula; sisters, Vicki Robeson and Kelly Mitchell, both of Missoula; her siblings' spouses; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care of Garden City Funeral Home & Crematory.
Ellen D. Crandall
Ellen D. Crandall, 87, of Roberts, formerly of Malibu, Calif., died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Highgate Senior Living in Billings.
Memorial Mass was held Jan. 8 at St. Patrick’s Co-Cathedral in Billings.
Cremation or Funeral Gallery was in charge of arrangements.
ELIZABETH SCHWEITZER
HINGHAM - Elizabeth "Lizzie" Schweitzer, 93, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at a Chester rest home.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church in Hingham. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Highland cemetery in Havre.
Elizabeth was born on Sept. 29, 1910, at Bow Island, Alberta, to George and Katherine (Dorscher) Roth. She grew up in Canada and received her formal education there.
In November of 1928, Elizabeth married
Anton Schweitzer at Bow island. They made their home in Montana on the Schweitzer farm in the Goldstone community north of Rudyard. In 1939 they moved to Rudyard to a farm on the outskirts of town. Elizabeth worked diligently as a farm wife, homemaker and mother of 13.
They moved to Hingham in 1957 and bought the Chicago Store, a grocery business they renamed the Schweitzer Store. A few years later they sold the business and retired. Anton died in 1968 and Elizabeth remained in Hingham. In 1987 she moved to an apartment in Havre. In 1992, she transferred to the Eagles Manor, where she lived for 10 years. When her health began to fail in 2002, she moved to the Liberty County Nursing Home in Chester.
Elizabeth was baptized and confirmed a Catholic and remained dedicated to her faith throughout her life. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church in Hingham and was active in the Altar Society. After moving to Havre, she became a loyal member of St. Jude's Parish.
In her younger years, Elizabeth enjoyed camping and fishing outings with the family. Over the years, she developed skills in cooking, canning and baking. She enjoyed being outdoors in her flower and vegetable gardens. She did her own yardwork into her early 80s. During her quiet time, Elizabeth enjoyed watching television and listening to Western music.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, George and Katherine (Dorscher) Roth; husband, Anton Schweitzer; sons, Michael, Joseph and Lawrence; grandchildren, Christopher, David and Shelley; and brothers, John, Tom, Joseph and Andrew Roth.
Survivors include her sons, Leander (Sarah) Schweitzer of Billings, Willy (Cherie) Schweitzer of Reno, Nev., Ed (Donna) Schweitzer of Hingham, Marvin (Beth) Schweitzer of Troy, Richard Schweitzer of Washington City, Utah, Don (Dodie) Schweitzer of Sparks, Nev., and Randy (Brenda) Schweitzer of Sparks, Nev.; daughters, Helen McCann of Missoula, Leona (John) Lakman of Bountiful, Utah, and Beverley Smith of Havre; 23 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Kolody and Barbara Hoffarth, both of Medicine Hat, Alberta; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Memorials may be made to Hi-Line Health Foundation in Chester or to the donor's choice.
Arrangements are by Rockman Funeral Chapel, Chester.
Mabel I. Curry
Mabel I. Curry, 83 of Billings, died at her home Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007.
The daughter of Clyde and Gertrude Scharf, she was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Pittsburgh, Pa., where she was raised and educated.
She married
Robert Curry in Pittsburgh on Aug. 30, 1943.
Mr. Curry made his career in the Air Force.
During World War II she volunteered as a Grey Lady.
She was involved in Scouts and other youth groups as her children grew up.
After her husband’s retirement in 1968, they made their home in Spokane, Wash., moving to Billings in 1997.
Survivors include a son, Scott Curry of Spokane; two daughters, Barbara Carrier and Kathie Curry of Billings; five grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Private services were planned at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park. Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary had charge of arrangements.
DIANE RUSSETTE
Diane Rose Russette, 39, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at a Great Falls hospital due to kidney failure.
A wake service was to begin at 2 p.m. today with a rosary to begin at 7 p.m. at the Rocky Boy Lutheran Church. A funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Rocky Boy Lutheran Church with the Rev. Pete Guthneck officiating. Burial will be held at the Russette Family cemetery.
Diane was born on June 19, 1964, in Havre to Calvin and Carol (Caplette) Russette. She was raised and educated at Rocky Boy and graduated from Box Elder High School in 1982. She attended Stone Child College, where she studied business.
Diane loved beading, cooking, making quilts for family, growing plants, and most of all, her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents and many cousins.
Survivors include her parents, Calvin and Carol (Caplette) Russette of Rocky Boy; adopted children, Heather Oats and Jamison Russette, both of Rocky Boy; sisters, Linda (Bob) Oats and Kellie (Loren) Bacon, all of Rocky Boy; nieces, Terissa Oats and Allison Bacon, and nephew, Jerahson Bacon, all of Rocky Boy; many adopted sisters, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
Patricia Jane Dickman
Patricia Jane Dickman, 80, a bookkeeper, died Jan. 2, 2008, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
She was born Nov. 8, 1927, in Bozeman, to Max and Teresa Howell.
She grew up in the Gallatin Valley and graduated from Belgrade High School as class salutatorian.
She attended Montana State University and was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.
She married
Charles H. Dickman in June 1952. They were later divorced.
Montana State University was her primary employer as a bookkeeper.
She also knitted afghans, sweaters, hats, mittens and dresses for children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Terri A. Smith of Billings and Debbi Supola of Bozeman; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services were held Jan. 5 in the Ocee Johnson Chapel at St. John’s in Billings.
Arrangements were by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.
