Thomas G. Thompson
LAUREL – The man with a golden smile, Thomas G. Thompson, 79, of Laurel, passed away Friday evening, Oct. 6, 2000, at Valley Health Care Center in Billings. The son of Guy and Minnie (Go-man) Thompson, he was born in Reed Point, Jan. 20, 1921.
Tom was raised and educated in Reed Point and graduated from Reed Point High School. Following graduation, he entered the service and served his country four years during WWII before his honorable discharge in Feb. of 1946.
On May 7, 1946, he married Mary O’Neill at St. Anthony’s Church in Laurel. Tom worked for the Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern Railroads before retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Church and a 50 year member of the American Legion Club Post 123 in Laurel.
Tom loved to dance and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing pinochle. He also enjoyed working on his uncle’s ranch south of Reed Point. Tom’s wonderful smile will be forever remembered by family and friends alike. He was a very loving and devoted husband and father and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Pat Thompson; his parents; his brother, Ira John Thompson; and his sisters, Angie Redl, Etta Jane Tufte, Evelyn Paladichuck, and Anna Whitford.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; of Laurel his daughters, Margaret Aaby (Darrell) of Laurel, and Eileen Skillingberg (Jason) of Longmont, Colo.; his grandchildren, Christopher, Kelli, and Sari Thompson, Jennifer and Kelly Skillingberg, and Stefanie and Shawna Aaby; his sisters, Marie Jordet of Columbus, Niletta Berry (Lawrence) of Reed Point, Rose Goddard (Lee Charles) of Columbus, and Lillian Traver Reed of Big Timber; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist. Vigil Services will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, and Funeral Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at St. Anthony’s Church in Laurel. Rite of Committal with military honors will be in the Laurel cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Cancer Center or the charity of one’s choice.

Walter W. Turner
GLASGOW – Walter W. Turner, 49 of Glasgow, passed away Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, as results of an accident.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at St. Raphael’s Gymnasium in Glasgow, with Rev. Dave Rogenes officiating. Burial will be in Highland cemetery in Glasgow. Bell Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Walt was born Nov. 25, 1950 in Glasgow to Kermit W. Turner and Della Ruth Daley Turner. On Aug. 20, 1983 he married Sherri R. White in Glasgow.
Walt worked numerous places in Glasgow. He was maintenance manager at the Cottonwood Inn, Landfill Manager at the Valley County Landfill operating heavy equipment, most recently to Fossum Ready Mix. He took extreme pride in every job he worked.
In 1983, Walt and Sherri purchased the Kolstad Mobile Home Park in Glasgow. In 1987 they began building what is now Shady Rest R.V. Park. Together they worked hard to establish a top rated campground.
Walt was an avid stockcar driver in the 70’s. He was past president of the Glasgow Jaycees, which he was involved in for many years. He wholeheartedly supported the Jaycees “Block of Bucks” raising money during the holiday season for children less fortunate. He served on the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He served with the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years, retiring in 1994. He volunteered with the Valley County Long Ron Fire Department for several years.
Walt’s latest joy was ice fishing, especially with friends Clay and Andy. He was so proud of the 22.22 pound northern pike he speared last winter. He and Sherri together enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, snow skiing and just being together.
Walt was always working in his shop, whether it be wood working, welding, painting or helping a friend. Nobody had a shop like Walter. Walt always had a smile for everyone. He touched so many peoples lives.
I loved my dogs, old Chevy;s, hunting, ice fishin’, snowmobiles, and one liners on life., but most of all I loved Sherri, my wife.
Toothpick in cheek, thoughts on what really matters... Meet me at the shop for a drink of ‘the water’.
Leaving a little sooner than my notes reminded, but I’ll see you all in the spring, if you make it through the mattress.
Survivors include his wife, Sherri of Glasgow; sisters, Elsie Bacon of Great Falls, Donna Burback of Seattle, Wash., Norma Ebling of Tonapah, Nev. and Della Beck of Mystic, Conn.; brothers, Milo Turner of Burnsville, Minn., Arthur Turner and John Turner of Nashua, Marvin Turner of Havre and Paul Turner of Glasgow; 26 nieces and nephews.

Amanda Davidson
FAIRVIEW Amanda Davidson, 79, of Fairview, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at the Mercy Medical Center, Williston, N.D.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 12, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Fairview. Interment will be in the Richland Memorial Park, Sidney, under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney.

Frank Lewis Dunning
GREYBULL, Wyo. Frank Lewis Dunning, 86 years of age, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin.
Frank was born Oct. 12, 1913, in Massillon, Ohio, the son of Frank and Mary (Lewis) Dunning. He received his schooling in Greybull, graduating from Greybull High School, and then he attended two years at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
On Oct. 9, 1938, he married Helen Werbelow in Casper. He was a founding member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Greybull and helped with the construction of the original church building. He also served as an Elder and was involved in many other activities in the church throughout his life. Besides being involved with his church, he found time to serve on the School Board, was a board member of the Senior Center and was a former municipal judge. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 33 years before retiring in 1975. He enjoyed his retirement years traveling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen in 1995, three brothers and one sister.
Frank is survived by three sons, Donald of Hamilton, Mont., Lewis of Burke, Va., and Jerry of Greybull; 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three-great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathleen Baimonte of Denver, and Betty Swearingen of Topeka, Kan.
Funeral services have been set at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Greybull with the Rev. Lowell Kaysar officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillside cemetery.
Visitation has been set for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at the Atwood Family Chapel in Greybull.
In lieu of flowers, you may send a memorial donation to the Grace Lutheran Church, 501 6th Ave. North, Greybull, WY 82426.

Roosevelt W. Gray
FORT BELKNAP Roosevelt W. Gray, 76, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in the Fort Belknap Hospital of natural causes.
Wake service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, in the Red Whip Community Center at Fort Belknap. Wake/Rosary will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the Chief Nosey Center in Lodge Pole. Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Chief Nosey Center with burial in the Big Warm cemetery. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.

Edward ‘Ned’ Green
SHERIDAN, Wyo. Edward “Ned” Sitton Green, 69, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at his residence in Sheridan of natural causes.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in Champion Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Viewing is at Champion Funeral Home until funeral time on Thursday.

Freeman Helland
CULBERTSON – Funeral services for Freeman Helland, 91, of Culbertson, will be at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, Oct. 13, 2000 at 10 a.m. MDT. Rev. Al Beyer will officiate and burial will be in Friedens Gemeinde cemetery. Family services will be held at the church on Thursday evening, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. MDT.
Freeman Helland was born at Williston, N.D., on July 21, 1909, the son of James Olson Helland and Isabelle Marie (Helland) Helland. He was raised west of Williston, N.D., and attended a rural school where his sister Clara taught. The family moved northwest of Culbertson to the family farm, and Freeman completed his education. As a young man, Freeman worked on the Fort Peck Dam and for the Farmers Union Oil Co. in Williston as a truck driver.
On March 29, 1939, he was united in marriage to Elsie Damm at Wolf Point. Freeman entered the U.S. Army in 1943 and served in the European Theater during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was discharged in 1945 and returned to Culbertson where he worked for Moen Brothers Mercantile.
Freeman and Elsie were both janitors at the Culbertson School for 27 years before their retirement. They continued to live in Culbertson. Elsie died in 1994. Freeman entered the Roosevelt Memorial Nursing Home in July of this year. He died at the home on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000,
He was a. member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Thomas Mann Post No.81 American Legion. He loved hunting, fishing, and camping. Freeman enjoyed his hunting dogs and poodles. While they worked at the school, they enjoyed the students and the students enjoyed them.
He is survived by one brother, Victor Helland of Culbertson and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, six brothers, Oscar, Henry, Cornelius. Joseph, Theodore, and Lewis; seven sisters, Marie Levett, Louise Oyloe, Matilda Johnson, Alice McNaugtnon, Clara Ramey, Agnes Street, and Hazel Hollis; and a niece that was raised as a sister, Violet Olson.
Friends may call at Trinity Lutheran Church in Culbertson on Thursday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. MDT and for one hour before service time on Friday.

Arthur S. Houston
DECKER – Arthur S. Houston, 60, of Decker, Mont., died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in the VA Medical Center in Sheridan Wyo.
A memorial reception was Tuesday, Oct. 10, at the VA Chapel in Sheridan. Ferries Funeral Home of Sheridan, was in charge of arrangements.

Clifford ‘Rip’ Larson
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. – Clifford L. “Rip” Larson of Devils Lake passed away Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, at Mercy Hospital.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday Oct. 10, in St. Olaf Lutheran Church with burial in the Devils Lake cemetery.
Gilbertson Funeral Home of Devil’s Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Marie Louise Reculusa
BUFFALO, Wyo. – Marie Louise Reculusa, 86, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in the Amie Holt Care Center.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, in the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Willow Grove cemetery.

Leah Seidel
COLUMBUS – Leah Seidel, 80, died on Oct. 8, 2000, at Columbus. She was born Sept. 13, 1920, in her family’s home near Medina, N.D., to John and Elizabeth Bischke.
Leah lived on the family farm near Medina until 1932 when she moved with the family to Pompeys Pillar. She received her Certificate of Promotion from the Huntley Project Schools on May 21, 1937.
On Dec. 17, 1939, Leah married Ray Carl Seidel at Huntley. Together they farmed on the Huntley Project for 40 years. Leah and Ray were always active members of the local church. As charter members of Calvary Baptist Church in Billings, they assisted in many ministries and the construction of buildings at three sites to accommodate the growth. Later, they were both active in Valley Christian Church of Billings until Ray’s death on May 1, 1995.
Leah moved to Columbus in 1998 to be near family. While in Columbus, Leah attended the Columbus Evangelical Church. Leah left a legacy of faith, knowledge and trust in her personal Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
Leah loved the outdoors, especially her flower and vegetable gardens. She always grew plenty to share with everyone who would accept her frequent gifts. Leah also gave tireless hours to help young people, particularly members of the Huntley Eagles 4-H Club and many others in 4-H in Yellowstone County. She was recognized for 30 years of outstanding service.
Surviving Leah are three sisters, Esther Vanderhage of Lynden, Wash.; Vi Conde of Columbus, Mont.; and Ione (Harold) Walters of Billings; a brother, Ruben (Louise) Bischke of Billings; her three children, Bob (Elsa) of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Vicki (Jess) Wilson of Columbus; and Lon (Barbara) of Newberg, Ore.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Leah’s husband, parents and four sisters preceded her in death.
A celebration memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. W. with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitations may be made at the Smith Downtown Chapel, 120 N. 26th St., until noon on Thursday and will resume prior to the service at the West Chapel.

Fredrick Seminole
ASHLAND – Fredrick Seminole, 63 of Crow Agency, formerly of Ashland, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Awe Kualawaache Care Center in Crow Agency.
Wake service will be held Thursday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at the St. Labre Catholic Church Social Room, near Ashland. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the church. Burial will follow in the St. Labre cemetery. Rausch Funeral Home of Lame Deer is in charge of arrangements.

Eldon James Tyson
GARDINER – Eldon Tyson, 83, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at his home in Gardiner.
At his request cremation has taken place. No services are planned. Franzen-Davis Crematory in Livingston was in charge.

Florence Wiseman
SAN RAMON, Calif. Florence Wiseman, 94, of San Ramon, formerly of Glendive, Mont., died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive, and private Rite of Committal will be in the Dawson Memorial cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is in charge of arrangements.
