COLUSA, Calif. – Cecil Garber, 80, died Friday, Aug. 11, in Colusa Community Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, in the Elks cemetery. A reception will follow the services. Champion Funeral Home is in charge.

George Harmon
BUFFALO, Wyo. – George Harmon, 77, died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday from the funeral home. Interment will be in Willow Grove cemetery with military graveside services.

Gregory Todd Harper
RED LODGE – Gregory Todd Harper, 53, passed away early Wednesday morning, Aug. 23, 2000, at Billings Deaconess Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Euclid, Ohio, on Oct. 10, 1946, to Willard and Madolin Harper. His father was a band and orchestra director near Cleveland and his mother was a housewife and concert pianist. He is survived by his sister, Stefni Phillips of Scottsdale, Ariz., and her children: Mindee, Shayne, Kelsee, Lance, and Shawnee Phillips of Scottsdale, and Kym Phillips of San Diego.
Gregg had a variety of occupations before moving to Red Lodge, including cab driving and steel truck driving, and was part of a band that performed around the Midwest. Other hobbies included flying, coin collecting, and traveling. He had seen much of the world and was always planning his “next big trip”. He taught in Ohio for four years, and has been the junior high and high school band and choir director in Red Lodge for the past 21 years.
His job with the Pep Band, Jazz and Dixieland Bands, Concert bands, and Choir groups filled his life. He dearly loved his students and wanted them to excel. The myriad of awards that line the band room walls are a real testimony to his dedication to the success of the music program and each of his students .He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held for Mr. Harper on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 2 p.m. in the Veteran’s Memorial Civic Center in Red Lodge. Memorials may be made to the Greg Harper Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o U.S. National Bank, Box 910, Red Lodge, MT 59058.

Elsie M. Hartford
LEWISTOWN – Elsie M. Hartford, 76, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at the Central Montana Medical Center of natural causes.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday at 5 p.m. at 616 Second St. W. in Lewistown. Cremation has taken place. Family graveside services will be held in the Lewistown City cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge.

Larry M. Helton
SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Larry M. Helton, 53, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at the Sheridan Municipal cemetery with full military honors. Champion Funeral Home is in charge.

William A. “Bill” Henneberry
William A. “Bill” Henneberry, 62, of Billings passed away Aug. 23, 2000, at Western Manor Nursing home following a short illness.
Bill was born May 9, 1938, in Dillon, the son of Ambrose and Muriel (Burwell) Henneberry. His family moved to Billings in 1948, and Bill attended Senior High until joining the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served until 1958. He married Karen Jo Stene, Jan. 25, 1965, in Lewiston, Idaho.
They moved to Butte, Deer Lodge, and Dillon with Safeway and returned to Billings in 1972 and worked at Kon’s and Midland Packing Co. He then became a dispatcher for Midland O’Leary, where he worked 15 years. He returned to the food industry and worked for Associated Foods as a warehouse man until his retirement due to ill health.
Also, he and his brother Ben owned two small grocery stores, Pinehills Country Store in Lockwood and the Central Avenue Foodtown.
Bill enjoyed sports such as fishing, golfing, basketball, and football. His favorite sports teams were the Celtics, Green Bay Packers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Bill was a member of West Side Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan (Louis) Kuchera of Billings; his son, Ben (Kelly) Henneberry of Billings; grandchildren, Justin Weidrick, Maxwell Henneberry, and Lindsey Henneberry; sisters, Shirley (Lindy) Thompson of Columbia Falls, Carol (Perry) Thompson, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Roylein Goulter of Washington, Mona (Larry) Dixon of Idaho Falls, and Pat “Bob” Getz of Big Timber; and his brother, Ben (Jean) Henneberry of Billings; numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his wife in July of 1994 and a sister, Rosemary Henneberry and his parents.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, at West Side Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Joliet cemetery, Joliet. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday.

WINIFRED – Patricia O. (Walling) Huffman, 34, of Winifred, died Wednesday morning near Winifred. She was born Nov. 7, 1965, in Lewistown, the daughter of Tom and Gladys (Hiebert) Walling. She received her education in Winifred, graduating from Winifred High School in 1984. She then attended Bryant College in Dayton, Tenn., for 3 1/2 years. She returned to Winifred and helped on the ranch. She moved into Lewistown and worked at Valle Vista Manor.
In 1992, she was united in marriage to Rickie Lee Huffman in Reno, Nev. They lived in Chico, Calif., for a short time and then returned to Lewistown. She moved to Winifred in the mid-1990s.
She enjoyed working with cattle, reading and writing. She was a member of the Winifred Community Bible Church and the American Angus Association.
She is survived by her parents, Tom and Gladys Walling of Winifred; one sister, Barbara Andrews of Jackson Hole, Wyo.; maternal grandparents, Jake and Mary Hiebert of Whitewater, Tenn.; two nieces, Claire and Sarah and several aunts and uncles.
Rickie Elijah Huffman, 7, of Winifred, died Wednesday morning near Winifred. He was born Feb. 7, 1993, in Lewistown, the son of Rickie L. and Patricia L. (Walling) Huffman. He had completed kindergarten in Winifred and was to begin the first grade this year. He loved farming, wanting to be a farmer when he grew up. He enjoyed trucks, animals, fishing, camping and Sunday School.
Cherise Larae Huffman, 5, of Winifred, died Wednesday morning near Winifred. She was born Feb. 14, 1995, in Lewistown, the daughter of Rickie L. and Patricia O. (Walling) Huffman. She lived in Winifred with her mother and brother. She liked to fish, camping, horses, dinosaurs, Barbies and Sunday School.
They are survived by their father, Rickie L. Huffman of Olympia, Wash.; grandparents, Tom and Gladys Walling of Winifred; great-grandparents, Jake and Mary Hiebert of Whitewater, Tenn.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Graveside services for Patricia O. Huffman and her children, Rickie Elijah and Cherise Larae, will be Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the Winifred cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may make memorials to the Winifred swimming pool and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.

LaRoice Mayland
BASIN, Wyo. – LaRoice Mayland, 87, died at the Wyoming Retirement Center in Basin Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000.
Mrs. Mayland was born in Mulhall, Okla., Nov. 17, 1912, the daughter of Winiferd and Carrie McPeek. She received her schooling in Otto and Basin. On Feb. 23, 1936, she married Herman D. Mayland and became a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in the same year. She and Herman made their home in Emblem.
Mrs. Mayland was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League all of her adult life and served on the Big Horn County Fair Board for many years. Mrs. Mayland cooked for many hired men throughout her life and especially enjoyed preparing holiday family meals. Her garden and flowers were the joy in her life. She was known for the vast varieties she grew and the beautiful arrangements that she prepared for the church and its members. Mrs. Mayland enjoyed her many nieces and nephews, especially during Christmas holidays.
She and her husband enjoyed 51 years of marriage. Mrs. Mayland was an excellent care giver when her husband became ill in the 70s. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman D. Mayland, Oct. 3, 1987.
Mrs. Mayland is survived by two sets of twin siblings, Lyle McPeek of Covina Calif., Lola McPeek Snyder of Greybull and Jim McPeek of Fairfield, Calif., Keith McPeek of Colleyville, Texas, and another sister, Helen McPeek Caufield of Redding, Calif. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for LaRoice Mayland will be Monday, Aug. 28, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Emblem. Reverend Lowell Kayser will officiate. Burial will follow at the Emblem cemetery in Emblem.
Visitations will be 12 p.m. (noon) to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27, at the Atwood Family Funeral Chapel in Greybull and one half-hour prior to funeral services at the Zion Lutheran Church, Emblem.
In lieu of flowers, there has been a memorial fund set up at First Interstate Bank in Greybull for the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

William Schuman
William L. Schuman died Dec. 15, 1999, at the University of Washington Hospital in Seattle after a long illness and complications following a liver transplant.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Inurnment with military honors will follow in the Fairview cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Florence KerLee Sullivan
Florence KerLee Sullivan, 66, of Billings passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at the Deaconess Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Warm Springs, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Olaf Roton She was raised in the Twin Bridges, Helena and Great Falls areas.
She married Dan L. Sullivan Sr. in 1954 in Helena.
Florence had worked at various business in the Great Falls area. She came to Billings in 1994.
She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and reading. She was a devoted member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 37 years.
Survivors include her children, sons, Steve(Maureen) Sullivan of Baltimore, Ohio, Dan L. (Loni) Sullivan Jr. of Enumclaw, Wash., Timothy (Brigetta) Sullivan of Silverdale, Wash., Darryl Sullivan of Enumclaw, and Alexis (Jason) Vanderwater of Rio Linda, Calif.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 25, at the Kingdom Hall at 36th St. West. Cremation has taken place. Smith Downtown Chapel in charge arrangements.

Helen M. Wilson
1914-2000
SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Helen M. Wilson died Aug. 22, 2000, at Sheridan Manor of complications from lung cancer. She was 86 years old.
She was born Mary Helen Miller on Jan. 11, 1914, to George Jay and Mary Ellen (Showalter) Miller in Belle Fourche, S.D. She was educated at Spearfish (S.D.) Normal College.
On Nov. 26, 1933, she married William T. Wilson in Sturgis, S.D. She spent much of her life in Rapid City, S.D., where her husband worked with Peter Kiewit Sons’ Inc. In 1965, Helen and Bill moved to Sheridan where they were members of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Bill; and her sisters, Martha Francis Campbell of Phoenix, Ruth Smith of Durango, Colo., and Georgianna Joan Granath of Bellevue, Wash.
Survivors include her three children, Carol W. Orr of Big Horn, William G. (Joan) Wilson of Billings, and Thomas C. Wilson of Cheyenne; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be Monday, 10 a.m., at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church with Fr. David Duprey and The Rev. Canon Ray Clark co-officiating. Interment will follow later in the day at the Pineslope cemetery in Belle Fourche with the Rev. Ray Clark officiating. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may benefit the Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library, or a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.

Betty Marie Braaten
WOLF POINT – Betty Marie Braaten died on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000, at the Trinity Hospital.
Visitations will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Clayton Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, at the Clayton Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Greenwood cemetery.

Zola Mae ‘Fritz’ Brownell Brocker
Zola Mae “Fritz” Brownell Brocker passed away on Aug. 21, 2000, due to complications from diabetes. Fritz was born on July 20, 1928, to Arthur and Ruby Brownell.
Fritz graduated from Daw-son County High School in Glendive in 1946; she then attended Daw-son College. She kept books for Tomolino’s Music and the NPBA Hospital until 1967 when she took a job with Puget Sound Hospital in Tacoma, Wash. She retired in 1990 and in 1994 returned to Billings to be closer to her extended family.
Fritz’s life also involved music and the piano which she played with Chet Griffin Dixielanders and many others, often at Sam’s Arcade in Glendive. She was a life member of the Eastern Star. She also collected “Happy Faces” and raised her special friend, Tessie the cat. Fritz touched many lives and every life she touched was changed in some way, we will miss the love, guidance and strength she gave each of us every day.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Brocker of Billings; a son, Clayton Florand of Billings; two stepsons, Bob Brocker of Anchorage, Alaska, and Ron Brocker of Billings; her brother Art Brownell (Sandy) of Beverly Hills, Fla.; her nieces and nephews, Craig Brownell (Susan), Stacy Bertrand (Tracy), Brad Brownell and Stephanie Nance all of Billings. Fritz had five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Claremont Brownell and sister, Sheila Rae Parkinson, also by her infant son, Clifford.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday Aug. 25, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Glendive at Silvernale-Silha. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2526 Sixth Ave. N., Billings, MT or the American Cancer Society, 17 N. 26th St., Billings, MT or the Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 1170, Billings, MT 59103.
