Ambert Oliver
GLENDIVE – Ambert Oliver, age 97, longtime resident of Glendive, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2000, at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care Facility.
Funeral services will be held at 10 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Everett and Lay Pastoral Associate Avis Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson County cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
Ambert was born on Aug. 2, 1902, in Italy to Frank and Josephine Oliver. In 1913, he came to Glendive where his father was in the contracting business. Ambert attended local schools. Later, he worked with his father who was running a wholesale business in a garage known as the Montana Motor Company. In 1924, besides managing the garage agency, he was appointed bulk station agent for the Texaco Oil Company.
Ambert married
Alice Nielson in Miles City in 1927. In 1934, he went into the trucking business, hauling petroleum products as well as running a service station; he sold his business in 1938. In 1939, he went to work for the Northern Pacific Railroad for the Bridge and Building Department and in 1943 was appointed assistant water service foreman for the Yellowstone Division. In 1947, he was appointed water service foreman and moved to Forsyth. In 1957 the railroad moved him back to Glendive, in the same capacity, and he retired in 1970.
Amber was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge and was a lifetime member of the Frontier Gateway Museum. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Union. Ambert enjoyed working with agates, traveling, taking care of his yard and home and most of all, looking after his late wife, Alice, who preceded him in death in January of 1988.
Survivors include his daughter, Virginia Robinson of Honolulu, Hawaii; his stepson, Ray M. Oliver of Washington state; his grandson and granddaughter, Steve Robinson and Christine Robinson, both of San Diego; two half-sisters, Josephine Fabo of Duarte, Calif., and Helen Burton of Rosemead, Calif.; his half-brother, Frank Oliver of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren, nine step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Dallas D. Peabody
GILLETTE, Wyo. – Dallas D. Peabody, 45, formerly of Ekalaka, Mont., passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2000 in Ekalaka.
Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at the St. Joan of Arc Parish Hall. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, in the chapel. Burial will be in the IOOF cemetery in Ekalaka. Stevenson Funeral Home of Ekalaka is in charge of arrangements.
Ricky Pearson
PLENTYWOOD – Ricky Pearson died at his home Saturday, July 15, 2000, on complications of a seizure disorder.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at Fulkerson Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Plentywood cemetery.
Letha M. Rous
LEWISTOWN – Letha M. (Todd) Rous, 91, of Lewistown and former Denton area resident, passed away Tuesday morning, July 18, 2000, at the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 21, in the Cloyd Chapel with cremation to follow the services. The Cloyd Funeral Hone is in charge of arrangements.
Glen E. Schultz
LAKESIDE – Glen E. Schultz, age 74, of Lakeside, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2000, at the Brendan House, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born Sept. 7, 1925, in rural Rothsay, Minn., to William C. and Lily (Hendricksen) Schultz.
Glen attended Rothsay public schools and graduated in 1943. He then attended Wahpeton, N.D., trade school and graduated in 1946 with electrical and refrigeration degrees. Glen moved to Glasgow and started his own electrical business.
In 1961, he entered Federal Civil Service at Glasgow Air Force Base. He transferred to the Lakeside radar base in 1968 and served there until 1980. He then transferred to the U. S. Forest Service at Kalispell and retired in 1985. Glen was a 28-year member in the Montana Army National Guard until his retirement in 1980. He was a part-time electrical contractor and master electrician from 1957 to present.
Glen’s hobbies included bowling, hunting, fishing and traveling south for the winters. He was also a shadetree mechanic for his son and a member of the Elks, Eagles and American Legion; he loved to dance.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Verlyn. He is survived by one daughter, Sherry Shillenn and husband, Jim of Douglas, Wyo.; two sons, Michael and wife, Connie of Roxana, Ill., and Richard Schultz of Lakeside; five grandchildren, Kari Yeaman and husband, Jeff of Douglas; Shelly Valant and husband, Brian of Montrose, Colo., Erin Bennick and husband, Brett of Fort Wainwright, Fairbanks, Alaska, Bryan Schultz and wife, Martha of Ramstein A.F.B., Germany, and Andrea of Billings; one great-grandson, Michael Jeffrey Yeaman of Douglas. Glen is also survived by three brothers, Donald and wife, Doris of Rothsay, Minn., Gerald and wife, Rose of Park Rapids, Minn., and Lester and wife Betty of Fargo, N.D.; sister-in-law, Carol Schultz of Breckenridge, Minn.; four nieces, seven nephews, and a very special friend, Bea Berry of Columbia Falls.
Funeral Services for Glen E. Schultz will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, in the Johnson Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Wayne Pris of Eisvold Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, at Johnson Mortuary Chapel.
Funeral services will also be held in Rothsay, Minn., at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 24, at the Hamar Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Hamar Lutheran Church cemetery in Rothsay.
The family suggests memorial gifts be sent to the Eisvold Lutheran Church Property Fund, 5935 U.S. 93 S., Somers, MT 59932.

Alan Dale Sannon
Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Alan Dale Sannon, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2000, after suffering a heart attack.
Alan was born Jan. 21, 1945, in Billings, son of John and Leona Sannon. Alan attended public schools in Billings and was then drafted in the Army in 1965. Alan served in the Army as a military police officer until he was honorably discharged in 1967. He also served in the Army Reserve. He married
Teresa Ann O’Dea on Sept. 9, 1967, in Billings. Alan retired from Ryan’s Super Value after 23 years and had recently worked at Pittsburgh Paints Center.
Alan loved spending time with his family and friends. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening. You could also find Dad playing cards with his poker buddies and playing keno machines.
Alan is survived by his loving wife, Teresa; two brothers, three sisters; his children, Steve (Chris) Sannon of Granite Falls, Wash., Annette (Jon) Bergendahl of Billings, Danielle (Kevin) Thomas of Missoula; three granddaughters, Lindsey and Taylor Sannon of Granite Falls, Wash., and Samantha Bergendahl of Billings, and two new expectant grandchildren in August 2000 and February 2001.
Dad, you will be truly missed by all. You have always lent a helping hand to others, especially to your family by babysitting and home building projects.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Bernard’s Parish, Friday, July 21, at 10 a.m. followed by a luncheon at the church.

Phyllis Arlene (Herzog) Simon
On a beautiful evening, July 17, 2000, when the sun set and the birds were singing, wife, mother, sister and friend, Phyllis Arlene Simon went with the angels to heaven. She and her family gave 4 1/2 years of her and their lives to “fight the battle” of breast, bone, liver and brain cancer.
She was born the eldest of five children on March 2, 1935, in Butte, to Hessell and Virginia (Barraughs) Herzog. She resided in Basin, Plains and Choteau, Mont., where she received her education. After graduating from Choteau High, she left Montana to see the world and landed a job as a secretary at Spokane (Wash.) Medical Insurance. While living in Spokane, she met Mark L. Simon Sr.; he was in the Air Force and stationed at Fairchild AFB in Spokane.
They were married
June 10, 1954, in Lincoln, Wis. Phyllis and Mark lived for a short time in Madison, Wis., but returned to Great Falls in 1959. Phyllis lived for her family and twice in her life held brief secretarial jobs for the Great Falls Clinic and Great Falls Welfare Department.
Our blessed “MOM” helped us get through life in many ways with her loving care. She was there when we skinned our knees and she was there to have dinner on the table every night. When Dad was on the road driving truck, Mom filled in for our baseball games, skating rink lessons, horse shows and parent/teacher meetings. She was the mom every kid wished for and we were blessed to have her grace our lives. Mom was the mortar to the bricks of our family wall. She was one in a million. We love you mom and we will miss you very much!
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Mark L. Simon Sr., of Belgrade; daughter and son-in-law, ReNae and Larry Grantier of Belgrade; daughter and son-in-law, ReBecca and Brant Dallas and grandsons, Matthew and Clint of Spokane; son and daughter-in-law, Mark Jr. and Susan Simon and granddaughters, Lyndsey and Shannon of Spokane; sisters, Sharon (Bob) Marcoff of Long Beach, Wash.; Linda (Jerry) Holland of Alma, Ga.; brothers, Robert (Dorothy) Herzog of Choteau, Ralph (Denise) Herzog of Clinton. In addition, we must not forget to mention her favorite Aunt Pearl Barraughs and cousin, Barb Wogamon of Townsend, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Hessell Herzog and Virginia (Herzog) Linjatie.
A visitation will be at 5 p.m. and rosary with the family will begin at 7 p.m., Wednesday at Dahl Funeral Chapel of Bozeman. Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Valley of the Flowers Catholic Church in Belgrade with Father Ward officiating. Mom will be transported by motorcade to Billings and laid to rest at 3 p.m. at Mount View Mausoleum with a graveside service with Father David officiating.

Erma M. Tangen
POLSON – Erma M. Tangen, 90, of Polson, passed away from natural causes on July 4, 2000, at St. Joseph Assisted Living in Polson.
Erma was born on Oct. 5, 1909, in Sweet Grass County, to Andrew and Jennie Forsythe. Her family lived on a family ranch in Dead Man’s Canyon on the Yellowstone River near Big Timber and Columbus. She attended Greycliff Elementary School and Big Timber High School.
As a young girl Erma road horses out of necessity and always had a love for horseback riding.
Erma’s best friend was a sister to her future husband, Arthur Tangen. She and Arthur eloped with his sister Agnes Tangen and Oren Hathaway. They were all married
in Red Lodge, Mont., in 1927.
Shortly after they were married
, Arthur went to work for the Fish and Game in Emigrant. He stayed in this business until he retired. His profession led them to live in several locations in Montana including Emigrant, Lewistown, Red Lodge, Big Timber, West Yellowstone, Polson and Anaconda. They eventually retired to the east shore of Flathead Lake, and most recently she has resided in Polson.
She was a member of the Mystic Chapter No. 53 Order of Eastern Star.
Erma is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur B. in 1985; an infant son; one sister, Belle Amery of Big Timber; two brothers, Howard Forsythe and Oscar D. Forsythe.
She is survived by the following nieces and nephews: Delores Dunbar of Windsor, Calif., Howard Forsythe of Carenco, La., Rodney Forsythe of Big Timber, William Hart Forsythe of Santa Rosa, Calif., Connie Hofeditz of Seattle, Randolph Hathaway of Lummi Island, Wash., Sandee Scott of King City, Ore., Donald Tangen of Mount Vernon, Wash., and Irene Whicker of Spokane, Wash.
At Erma’s request, her body has been cremated and her cremains will be buried next to her husband in the Mountain View cemetery in Big Timber. Graveside services will be Sunday, July 23, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Bryan Baker officiating. Lowry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Nancy Thompson
PARADISE VALLEY – Nancy Thompson, 54, died on Sunday, July 16, 2000, at Livingston Memorial Hospital.
Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Emigrant. A reception will be held at the Livery Stable following the services.
Leona Alexia Bruner Gillen
SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Leona Alexia Bruner Gillen, 87, died on July 14, 2000.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 17, at Ferries Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at noon on Tuesday, July 18, at the Beth El cemetery in Cheyenne.

BOZEMAN – Carrie Anita Dover, 93, passed away at her home in Bozeman, Sunday, July 16, 2000.
Service of worship, music and celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at the Bozeman United Methodist Church with interment to follow at 4 p.m. at the Straw cemetery near Buffalo, Mont.

STORY, Wyo. – William Robert Bosworth Jr., 57, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at his home.

Pamela Kay Myers-DescheneMay 10, 1961 -July 16, 2000
MISSOULA – Beloved and beautiful wife, daughter, mother and sister passed away at her home surrounded by her family in the late evening of Sunday, July 16, 2000, after a most courageous baffle with cancer. Her life was an example of great optimistic attitude; of living and life. She loved her family, life and especially little children and older folks. She gave so much love and brought so much joy to all who knew her. Pam was born in Salmon, Idaho to Robyn Allred and Lee Myers. She married
Wallace Anthony Deschene on Sept. 24, 1999. Survived by her loving and dedicated husband, Wallace; a son, Brandt James Myers and a daughter, Ashlee Rae Myers; also step children, Chad Austin Deschene and Jocelyn Marie Deschene, all of Missoula. Parents, Lee and Linda E. Myers and Robyn and Al Brennan of Billings; brothers, Ernest Lee (Cindy) Myers of Salt Lake City, Utah, Robyn Lee (Jimi) Rodrigues and Willard Lee (Julie) Myers of Billings, and Richard Eugen Myers of Mountain Home, Idaho.
She is also survived by her grandmother, LoRen Allred of Salt Lake City and her mother-in-law, Alice Ekman of Denver, Colo.; step grandparents, Don and Lucile Edwards of Lyman, Utah, and great-grandmother, Elenore Romsa of Cutbank; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be a prayer vigil held at the family home 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 18. Friends and family are welcome to attend a “Celebration of Life” gathering following the vigil.
Memorial service for Pam will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, at the Christ The King Church with a luncheon following the service.
Julio C. Brady, Jr.
ASHLAND – Julio C. Brady, Jr. left this life July 13, 2000. He was born July 13, 1997, by the nine mile marker on Highway 212.
Survivors include his father, Julio C. Brady, Sr. of Lame Deer; his mother, Kathryn Stern Brady of Ashland; sister, Kalisha Runsabout of Ashland; grandparent, Estelle (Emery) Bearcomesout of Ashland; late grandparents, Imogene Brady and Bernadine ShoulderBlade; also great-grandparents, John (Loretta) Collins, Mary YelloFox, Elmer (Margaret) Brady Sr., and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, in the St. Labre Catholic Mission, in Ashland. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, in the St. Labre Catholic Mission, in Ashland. Interment will follow in the mission cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Guy E. Clifford Jr.
SHEPHERD – Guy E. Clifford Jr. of Shepherd, Mont., passed away St. Vincent Hospital on July 15, 2000, from complications of pneumonia. He was the son of Guy Clifford Sr., and Alma Foust Clifford.
Guy was born in Elk Basin, Wyo., on June 8, 1923, where he spent his first nine years. The family are transferred to an oil field in Cat Creek, Mont. He finished grade school there and attended high school in Winnett, Mont., graduating at age 16. While in school, he was a member of the nationally recognized Winnett Boxing Club and was a Golden Glove Champion.
After high school, Guy took a welding course at the then Billings Polytechnic and moved to Seattle where he worked on many of the greet battleships of WWII. He was drafted into the army in 1943 and spend over two years in the Pacific and in the Philippine Islands. Guy was a 75mm Gunman on a tank called the Sea Biscuit and was awarded the Purple Heart as a result of enemy action.
After his discharge from the Army, Guy returned to Wyoming to work in the oil fields. He returned to the shipyards for a short time before moving back to Montana. Guy married
Betty McDonough from Fromberg, Mont., in 1947. They had one son. In 1970, Guy married
again to Jean Chitwood and moved near Shepherd where he build him home. While in Shepherd, Guy went into the firewood business with his close friend, associate, and mechanic, Hugo Galle.
Guy was a talented writer of wit, caricaturist, and welder of unique figures. Guy was always there for a friend and was a loyal caring husband. Guy was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Alma Clifford; grandson, Guy Stephen Clifford; and his caring wife, Jean. He is survived by his son, Larry Clifford, daughter-in-law, Cheri Clifford of Helena; a sister, Marjorie Henman of Billings; two grandchildren, Megan and Lance Clifford of Helena; and three devoted nieces, Janet and Jane Henman of Billings, Margene Hall, and Charles Hall of Red Lodge.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services are pending, at which Reverends Virgie and John Eseltine will officiate. Cremation or Funeral Gallery is in charge of arrangements.
