Laura Wang
PLENTYWOOD – Funeral services for Laura Wang will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Pastor David C. Curtright will officiate at the service at Plentywood Lutheran Church; entombment in Plentywood Mausoleum will follow. Laura, 82, died Tuesday evening, June 13, at Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home where she had been resident for 16 months.
Laura was born at Redstone, Mont., June 28, 1917, the daughter of Asa and Ruby (Thompson) Barnes. She grew up in the Redstone community, graduated from Redstone High School, and attended business college in Great Falls.
With a year of college, she began working for the Sheridan County Allotment office during the 1930s, where she met Ole Wang. They were married June 6, 1937, in Redstone and lived and ranched seven miles east of Plentywood.
Her church and her family were the center of Laura’s life; she looked forward to spring and summer when she could get out of the house and work in the dirt in her garden and flowers. She loved kittens and the baby animals on their ranch; and spent a great deal of her energy gathering used clothing and other castoff items for Ruby to distribute to Goodwill and the Rescue Mission in Denver. She seldom missed an auction or rummage sale ... but was always late! The Wang ranch was a refuge in severe weather along the Westby Highway; the yard light was a beacon to many travelers over the years, and her family remembers one time that 20 kids from three different school buses spent the night, and Laura fixed everyone pancakes the next morning! Laura often chaperoned for her kids and their classmates to travel to school functions, and one of the “kids” recently commented that Laura had strict rules, and they respected her for it. Gracious and outgoing, Laura, with a sparkle in her eye, loved to tease. She had a quick wit, often with a smart reply to innocent comments. Ruby recalled that Laura gave her children deep roots in the Montana earth, but she also gave them wings, with great freedom, independence, and confidence at early ages.
She was one of the founding members of the Big Muddy Cowbelles; and was active in the Raymond Homemaker’s Club, and in Plentywood Lutheran Church as well as Martha Circle of the Plentywood WELCA. After Ole’s death April 13, 1992, Laura lived at home on the farm as long as she could, but entered the nursing home 16 months ago.
Laura is survived by her four children and their families: Gordon and his wife, Jean live in Fort Collins, Colo.; Raymond and his wife, Audrey live on the ranch east of Plentywood; Kathryn and her husband, Marvin (“Porky”) Reeve live in Lincoln; and Ruby Wang lives in Denver. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Annette Williams and her husband, Kenny; LaVerne Cluff and her husband, Todd; Travis Wang and his wife, Tressa; Troy Wang and his wife, Angela; Patrick Reeve and his wife, Linda; and Christy Walter and her husband, Val; by eight great-grandchildren: Cassidy, Manon, Suzette, Zachery, Bridger, Lauren, Syndie, and Anthony; by a sister, Inn Rothwell of Great Falls, and by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Laura was preceded in death by a sister, Alva Harrington, in 1996; and by three brothers: Fermin, at age 5, Galen, at age 12, and an infant brother.
Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood has charge of arrangements.

Ryan John Glover

Ryan John Glover left with the angels on June 12, 2000, to his journey to heaven. Ryan was born on July 5, 1977, to Jeff and Lori Glover in Plentywood. He joined his older brother Jeffery in the family home at Billings, and began his quest of life’s experiences.
Ryan graduated from Skyview High School in 1996 and was currently enrolled at MSU-Bozeman. He was a member of Sigma Chi. Ryan's life would not fill a book, but the pages would be precious to all who knew and loved him. His first smile was that of a scamp and we all knew he would be a little devil.
He revered his brother Jeffery and wanted to be just like him. Whenever Jeffery would go out to play with the “older” kids, Ryan would go along, playing harder and running faster than anyone else, just to keep up with his brother. And Jeffery guided and protected Ryan as he encountered new experiences. Ryan could do a perfect rendition of Garth Brooks’ “I’ve Got Friends in Low Places”, or call out the car window, “pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?” His sense of humor was always there, even at his own expense.
Ryan shared many happy times with his Dad and Mom, whether it was a family vacation to the park or making fun of his mother trying to golf. He loved to have his friends over to visit with Dad and create on the barbecue, even being brave enough to eat it. He cherished his time fishing and golfing and just being with his friends.
Jen Weisenhaus came into Ryan's life, filling it with much happiness. They were eagerly awaiting the birth of their child. Ryan had made his decision to pursue teaching and coaching because of this true fondness for children. His time was so limited, but he touched our lives forever and his memory will always be with us.
Ryan is survived by his parents, brother, fiancČe, and child. Other survivors include his paternal grandparents, Jack and Joyce Gallagher, and maternal grandparents, Gene and Joan Robinson, all of Plentywood. His aunts and uncles, Janice Grandy, Jackie and Bill Myers, JoAnne and Vic Lawson, Jim and Satomi Glover, Vicki and Russ Samuelson, John and Joni Laney, Cheri and Rich Mast, and numerous cousins. Ryan also leaves many friends who helped fill the pages of his life. May his journey be a peaceful and comforting one. We love you, miss you, and celebrate all that you gave us.
Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Bernard’s Parish with Rite of Committal to follow at Holy Cross cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ryan Glover Memorial Fund, c/o Valley Federal Credit Union, 1445 Main, Billings, MT 59105.
