Delmar O. Martin
Delmar O. Martin went to be with Jesus on Friday, March 31, 2000.
The son of Ellis and Prudie Martin, Del was born April 14, 1920, in Craigfield, Tenn.
He enlisted in the Navy in 1939 and was at Pearl Harbor aboard the Battleship USS Nevada during the attack.
He then served aboard the Cruiser USS St. Louis and in 1944 commissioned and served aboard an amphibious ship, the USS LCS48.
He married
Betty McFarland of Billings on June 28, 1944.
They farmed in Franklin, Tenn. for two years before moving to Montana.
Del was recalled for the Korean War, serving aboard the Fleet Tug USS Sarsi.
He recruited at the Naval Reserve Center for 13 years during the Vietnam Conflict.
He retired as a Navy Chief Boatswain's Mate in 1975.
He was very proud of his Navy duty and serving his country.
Del was involved in the car business in Billings, having worked for McIntyre Motors and later owning Del and Jim's Auto Sales with a partner.
He and Betty traveled extensively, attending many ship's reunions.
He enjoyed reading, had many "coffee" buddies and loved his church and family.
Del was a member of the YMCA, Pryor Mt. Lodge, 151, AF and AM, Fleet Reserve Association and was a Deacon at First Christian Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 1/2 years, Betty; his daughter and son-in-law, Carolee and John Cooke; his son, Senior Chief David Martin, all of Billings, and four grand daughters, Shawna and Andrea Martin of Bremerton, Wash., and Elizabeth and Julianna Cooke of Billings.
He is also survived by two brothers, Outhur and Ellis Jr., and two sisters, Opal Gooch and Betty Ann Rader of Tennessee.
We love you and we miss you as a husband, father, grandpa, and "papa".
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday at First Christian Church.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, YMCA or Big Sky Hospice.
Randy Miner
RENO, Nev. - Randy Miner passed away March 8, 2000, after a courageous battle with cancer at Washoe Medical Center, in Reno, Nev.
He was born Dec. 14, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of Frances M. Miner and Norton R. Miner.
Randy attended college in Oklahoma, where he married
his high school sweetheart, Barbara Nell Golden.
They had three beautiful children, Joel, Chad and Shannan, to whom he devoted his life.
Randy started playing the guitar in his teens and became a very gifted and talented musician, writing his own music, as well as forming several rock and roll bands, playing professionally through-out Montana, Utah and Nevada.
His day position was originally with Bearing Supply of Billings.
Circumstances eventually led him to Reno, Nev., where he was manager and sales representative for several different bearing companies, the last of which was Motion Industries, who was a very caring employer through his tragic illness and death.
In Reno, he met and married
Florence Rexroad. They had many hobbies together, traveling to Australia twice to hunt gold with metal detectors.
He enjoyed many hobbies with both his wife and children.
Joel was a first place winner in many motorcross races, Chad and Randy were both accomplished students of Kenpo Karate and Shannan was the "apple of her Daddy's eye", who presented him with his first grandchild, Christian River James in 1996.
He was preceded in death by his father, Norton R. Miner.
Survivors include wife, Florence Miner; daughter, Shannan James (Art); grandson, Christian; sons, Joel and Chad; brother, Kevin Miner; sister, Beth Miner; niece, Jessica Dively and mother, Frances M. Miner.

A requiem in memory of our beloved Randy was held March 13 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Reno.
Sierra Crematory, under the direction of John Sparks Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, had charge of the cremation.
Ashley B. Noel
LAUREL - Ashley B. Noel, 90, a long-time Laurel resident, passed away March 31, 2000, at his residence in Laurel.
He was born Jan. 19, 1910, and lived on the family homestead in the dry land hills south of Laurel.
Ashley spent much of his childhood on his Uncle Emmett Noel's farm located ten miles north of Silesia on the Clark's Fork River.
He attended school in Silesia and Laurel.
Ash started working for the Northern Pacific Railroad in 1928 and retired in 1974.
He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Laurel.
Ashley married
Katherine Camille Quinn in 1940.
Their three children and families are: Brent Noel, his wife, Kathy and their children, Sheila, Anna, and Tracy, all of Helena; Duane Noel, his wife, Beth and their children, Kyler and Quinn, all of Helena and Barbara Kress, her husband, Tom and their children, Christy, Jason and Charlie, all of Laurel. Two great grandchildren also survive.
Surviving siblings are Harry Noel of Missoula, Celista Epler of St. Maries, Idaho and Dorothy Birkland of Laurel.
Ashley was preceded in death by his wife, Kate; a brother, Phillip and special friend, Lillian Karst.
Graveside memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 7, at the Laurel cemetery with direction of Smith Funeral Chapel - Laurel.
A luncheon will follow at the Eagles Lodge in Laurel at 3 p.m.

Dennis Wayne Peterson
Dennis Wayne Peterson died at his home early Friday morning, March 31, 2000, after an extended illness.
He was born March 6, 1930, in Clearbrook, Minn., the second son of Benjamin Alvin and Ellen Amelia Asplund Peterson.
At an early age, the family moved to Duluth, Minn., where Dennis attended school, graduating from Denfeld High School in 1948.
Following graduation, he moved to Havre where he began 42 years of employment with the Valley Motor Supply Company/Motor Parts Warehouse in the area of outside sales and management, transferring to Billings in 1953.
Dennis was a people person and his employment allowed him the privilege of meeting wonderful people, many of whom he has kept in touch with through the years.
Dennis married
, "the love of his life, " Beverly Olson on July 1, 1950, at First Lutheran Church in Havre. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; son, Paul and wife, Deborah of Madison, Wis.; daughter, Diane and husband, Dennis of Charles City, Iowa and four grandchildren, Derek Peterson of Kalamazoo, Mich., Aaron Niezwaag of Charles City, Krista Niezwaag of Omaha, Neb., and Leah Niezwaag of Charles City, all of whom he loved so dearly.
Additional survivors include sisters-in-law, Emma Davis and her husband, Clarence, Lucy Peterson of Duluth, and Margelaine Matzke (Don) of Havre; brothers-in-law, Marian Olson (Donna) of Malta and Gary Olson of Chinook, as well as many nieces and nephews, in particular Donald Davis, Billings and Debra Davis Larson of Glencoe, Minn., with whom he had a special relationship.
He is also survived by sister, Lois Savely of San Diego, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth.
Dennis was an active member of American Lutheran Church in Billings, where he served faithfully in many capacities.
He also served on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Billings and Yellowstone County and the Board of Directors of Associated Industries.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, at American Lutheran Church, 5 Lewis Avenue.
Cremation with interment of ashes will be at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park.
Honorary Pall Bearers are Rodney Frick, Dean Swenson, James Hall, Ron Adkins, Marian Eichlin and his Duluth friends of 50 plus years, Richard Schnuckle, Richard Peterson and Donald Butters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to American Lutheran Church or Northern Rockies Cancer Center, 1041 North 29th Street, Billings.

Josephine 'Jo' Raicevich
KIRBY, Wyo. - Josephine "Jo" Raicevich, 70, died Saturday morning, April 1, 2000, at her residence in Kirby, Wyo.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday morning, April 3, at Monument Hill cemetery in Thermopolis.

Madeline Snell
POPLAR - Madeline Snell, age 63, of Poplar, Mont., died Thursday, March 30, 2000, of heart failure at Deaconess Hospital in Billings.
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, April 3, and the funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar.
Burial will be in Snell Family cemetery in Fort Kipp, Mont.

Wilfred Spang
LAME DEER - Wilfred Spang, 98, of Lame Deer passed away Friday, March 31, 2000, at the Crow Cheyenne Nursing Home in Crow Agency.
A wake service will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, April 2, at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Lame Deer.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 3, in the gymnasium at the Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Cheyenne Nation.
Burial will be held on the James Spang property west of Lame Deer.

Frances Biegel Thomae
BOZEMAN - Frances Biegel Thomae, 89, passed away Thursday, March 30, 2000, at her home in Bozeman, Mont.
Frances was born Sept. 20, 1910, in Omaha, Nebr., and first came to Harlowton in 1926.
She married
A.W. Biegel in 1937 in Malta, Mont., and then married
Charles Thomae in 1964.
She lived in Livingston, Billings and the last eight years in Bozeman.
Frances was a charter member of the Harlowton Women of the Moose and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two daughters, two sisters and five brothers.
She is survived by her two sons, James Biegel and Walter Ripley; one daughter, Donna Battiato; one step son, Paul Thomae; two step daughters, Pat Hanson and Marilyn Perkins; 21 grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Marsh and one brother, Ralph Townsend.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 4, at the Perkins Funeral Home with interment at Harlowton cemetery.

Raymond Ernest Baumgardner
CLATSKANIE, Ore. - Raymond Ernest Baumgardner, 84, formerly of Billings, Shepherd and Laurel, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, in Longview, Wash.
No services will be held at his request.
His cremains will be interred at Willamette National cemetery in Portland.
