Edward ‘Dale’ George
CLEARMONT, Wyo. – Edward “Dale” George, 45, died on Monday, April 17, 2000.
Visitation will be on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, at Kane Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Willow Grove cemetery in Buffalo. Kane Funeral Home is in charge.
Harold George
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Harold George of Grand Junction died April 14, 2000. He was 68 years old this year.
Mr. George was born to George and Louise George in Mossmain, Mont., on May 11, 1931, where the family lived on a ranch. Harold grew up loving horses and the rodeo. In his late teens he won a bare back bronc event in which the movie actor to be “Slim Pickens” was the rodeo clown as the event.
Mr. George soon found himself serving with in the U.S. Army in Korea where he earned several distinguishing medals including the purple heart in 1953. He further distinguished himself in serving as Commander of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) at Post 33 in Kremmling, Colo. He felt saving fellow veterans was one of the more honorable things he had the privilege of doing for others.
He married
Shirley on July 3, 1957, and they spent most of their married
life living in Kremmling for 16 years, where Harold worked with the BLM until retiring in 1993. They then moved to Grand Junction, where he enjoyed playing golf and working at Chipeta Golf Course with friends and nurturing a fine home and yard.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Grand Junction, and daughter, Donna Dyche of North Carolina; his father, George George of Billings; brother, William George of Missoula, Mont.; and three grandchildren.
Memorial Services will military honors by VFW Posts 1247 and 4663 will be at 4 p.m. Monday, April 24, at Memorial Gardens cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Nursing Home, 2121 North Avenue, Grand Junction, CO 81501.

Lillian Hess
Lillian Hess passed away peacefully on April 19, 2000, in Billings..
She was born Aug. 24, 1915, to Conrad and Louise Wolfe Witzel. On June 30, 1935, she was united in marriage to Marvin Hess. To this union was born a daughter, Millicent, in 1936 and a son, Gary, in 1940.
In 1941, they moved west, first to Miles City, Mont., and Marmarth, N.D, Baker, and then to Billings. In 1951, they moved to Denver, returning to Billings in 1961. Lillian, along with her husband, Marvin, dedicated many years of their lives to the care of foster children and single mothers. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church to which over the years she volunteered much of her time.
She is survived by her son. Gary of Phoenix, Ore., seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, and daughter, Millicent.
Funeral services for Lillian will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6th Ave. West and Grand Ave. Smith Funeral Chapels has charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be sent to Trinity Lutheran School, 2802 Belvedere Drive, Billings, MT 59102.
Hazel M. Husman
SHERIDAN, Wyo. – Hazel M. Husman, 81, died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Sheridan Manor.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 24, from Trinity Lutheran Church. Ferries Funeral Home is in charge.
Stephen A. Jurras
RED LODGE – A good cowboy who liked to be known as Seaborne Barnes. Single Action Shooting Society Life Member, Stephen Jurras left this world to be with his son and two daughters as the result of a firearm accident on Wednesday, April 19, 2000. Stephen was born on March 9, 1941, in Montpelier, Vt., and married
the love of his life, Cheryl, on Oct. 21, 1967.
Stephen came to Red Lodge in 1990 and purchased the barber shop in the Pollard Hotel. When the hotel was renovated be was forced to relocate and moved into a building near the Roman Theatre. He was an old fashioned barber and ran A Barber Shop at the Pony Express in Red Lodge until the time of his death.
Stephen’s second love was guns and cowboy action shooting. He loved the recreation of the old west and the excitement of creating fun stages to shoot. Can we ever forget ‘Get Shorty’ which left everyone in stitches by the end.
Stephen is survived by his wife Cheryl of the family home; daughter, Deborah (Tom) Lindblom of Silver Spring, Md.; grandsons, Oskar and Henry Lindblom and granddaughter, Jamie Murray of Winooski, Vt.; his father, Henry (Elma) Jurras, of Montpelier. Vt.; and many dear and close friends. He was preceded in death by his son, James and daughters, Stephanie and Ruth, his mother, Dorothy Harrington.

Clifford Knapstad
HELENA – After a long battle with diabetes, Clifford J. Knapstad, 45, died at St. Peter’s Hospital on April 19, 2000.
Cremation has taken place. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Dorothy ‘Dot’ Meserve
WINNETT – Dorothy “Dot” Meserve, 84, died Wednesday, April 19, s000, at the Roundup Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held at the Winnett cemetery at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 22. The Creel Funeral Home of Lewistown is in charge.
Frona I. ‘Tone’ Moody
Frona I. “Toni” Moody, 77 of Billings, passed away Thursday morning, April 20, 2000, at St. Vincent’s Hospital. The daughter of John and Cora (Mitchell) Thornton, she was born Jan. 24, 1923, in Rothiemay, Mont.
The family lived nine years at Garneill, Mont., before moving to Billings in 1935. Toni married
Clair Moody on Sept. 14, 1947. They owned and operated Moody Hatchery and later the Billings Heights Gamble Store before retiring in 1977.
Toni was an active member of First Christian Church. She also was a leader in Bible Study Fellowship for more than 15 years. She loved being a Christian and knowing Christ as her Savior. Her greatest joy on earth was being a wife, mother, and grandmother to her five beloved grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Clair W. Moody of Billings; her daughters, Linda (Steve) Platt of Billings and Dr. Irene (Mike) Skelton of Albuquerque, N.M.; her brother, John (Delores) Thornton of Billings; her sister, Betty (Bob) Goffena of Roundup; and her five grandchildren, Carrie, Jason, and Katelynn Platt and Claire and Anne Skelton.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, at First Christian Church. Private interment will be in Mountview cemetery. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.
Jean J. Northam
Jean J. Northam passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2000, at St. John’s Lutheran Nursing Home in Billings. She was born in Michigan City, Ind., on June 25, 1916, the first child of Alfred and Virginia Johnson.
Jean went to school in Michigan City and lived on the farm that her parents worked for many years. In the late 1930s, she met Harry B. Northam, whom she married
on July 1, 1940, in Libertyville, Ill. They lived a wonderful life together in Michigan City; Pullman, Ill.; Washington, D.C.; and finally the greater part of their marriage in Chicago. Jean and Harry had one child, Callen K. Northam of Billings. Harry died on June 2, 1968, after a long struggle with cancer.
Jean loved to work in the garden and work with her plants both in Chicago and in Michigan City. After Harry’s death, she worked for a large greenhouse and flower shop in Chicago, a job that she really enjoyed. One of Jean’s passions was watching the Chicago Cubs play baseball with Harry and her son. The Cubs have lost a passionate fan.
Jean moved to Indiana in the ’70s to help take care of her mother prior to her mother’s death. She then began a new career with Farm Bureau Insurance as an office manager, working there until retirement at age 70. She later went to work for another insurance agency until she reached 80. Jean loved being around people and working. In addition, she was a passionate reader of novels. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Robert and Roger Johnson.
She is survived by her son and his family, Cal and Judy Northam and grandchildren, Craig Northam of Littleton, Colo., Lori Northam of Billings, and Jacque Northam of Boise, Idaho; her sister and her family, Nancy Mertell and her husband, Barney of Temecula, Calif.; her brother and his family, Theodore and Delores Johnson of Gulfport, Miss.; and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Roger (Jeannette) Johnson of Ypsilanti, Mich.
Mom will be missed by her family and the many friends at St. John’s Lutheran Retirement Home, Saint Vincent Hospital, and the Schlegelmilch families of Michigan City, Ind.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held in Billings at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist on Friday, April 21, 2000, at 3 p.m. Graveside services will be at Pine Lake cemetery, LaPorte, Ind., on Thursday, April 27, 2000, at 10 a.m., where Jean will be put to rest next to her husband of 28 years. The world has lost a wonderful person who made a difference. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Saint Vincent Foundation or St. John’s Lutheran Retirement Inc. Foundation.
Clinton D. ‘Clint’ Radke
SIDNEY – Services for Clinton D. “Clint” Radke, 78, Sidney, will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2000, at the St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Sidney. The family will receive friends during a Wake service on Sunday, 6 p.m., April 23, at the Fulkerson Memorial Chapel, Sidney. Interment will be in the Sidney cemetery under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home.
Clinton was born Nov. 14, 1921, in Lambert to parents Herman D. Leona (Ellison) Radke. Clinton lived the majority of his life in Sidney, graduating from the Sidney High School Class of 1939. He worked for Johnson Hardware and Furniture for 49 years, while raising his family. He entered into the U.S. Army July 20, 1942, served 40 months in the Army, 43rd General Hospital Unit, during World War II, and received an honorable discharge on Dec. 1, 1945. On July 29, 1946, Clinton was united in marriage to Julia D. Elko in Sidney. He was a member of the St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
Clinton died early Tuesday morning, April 18, 2000, at the Deaconess Medical Center in Billings from complications brought on by cancer.
Clinton is survived by his wife, Julia Elko Radke of Billings; two sons, Michael C. (Laura) Radke of Billings, and Steven D. (Kathlee) Radke of Decatur, Ala.; three daughters, Judith (Richard) Janssen of Ronan, Pamela K. (Terry) Watson of Watford City, N.D., and Connie G. (Duane) Sebastian of Billings, ; one half- brother, Earl Morgenroth, of Reno, Nev.; one half-sister, Maria Tulock of Palatine, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Debra L. Radke in August, 1966.

Ann Eline Rensvold
WOLF POINT – Ann Eline Rensvold passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2000, after a prolonged battle with cancer. Ann was born in Carbury, N.D., on Jan. 20, 1920, the first child of Theodore and Olga Rothe.
Ann grew up in Wolf Point and worked at the First State Bank following her graduation from high school. On June 14, 1940, she married
the love of her life, Earl Rensvold. For close to 60 years, they shared their wonderful life on their farm north of Wolf Point, raising four children.
Ann’s faith and philosophy of life were clearly reflected in her many activities. Her love of flowers and of gardening were widely known, and the fruit of her labors was generously shared. She gave of her time to teach Sunday School, participated in quilting at church for many years, and was active in Homemakers’ Club, Christian Women’s Club, and her WELCA Circle.
Special occasions, such as births, graduations, and marriages, were occasions for Ann’s beautifully crocheted afghans. Perhaps not so widely known, but definitely recognized by her family, were her skills as an operator of farm machinery and as a grain truck driver. Ann’s whole being reflected her devotion to her faith and her boundless love for her family, as well as her positive approach to life.
Ann’s friends are endless; she was a friend to everyone. It was truly impossible not to respond with love and respect to this woman whose life every day reflected her values. She has left an example which will continue to influence the lives of all who knew her for many years to come.
Surviving Ann is her husband and best friend Earl; and her four children and their families, Jerry and Jo Rensvold of Rifle, Colo., Ted and Sandy Rensvold of Wolf Point, Joyce and Donn Lorash of Boyd, . and Verna Rensvold and Bart Klersy of Minneapolis; 10 grandchildren and their spouses; and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ora Shrader of Wolf Point and Marie Sugden of Rapid City, S.D., and their families; and numerous sisters-and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Eddie Rothe.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Ann’s memory Monday, April 24, at 2 p.m., at the First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point with Rev. Timothy Whiteman officiating. The family suggests that memorials be given to the Broadcast Equipment Fund of the First Lutheran Church of Wolf Point or the Faith Lutheran Home Foundation.
Hazel G. Carlton
Hazel G. Carlton, 78, of Billings, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000, at Billings Deaconess Hospital.
The daughter of George and Stella Fowler, Hazel was born in Miles City, Dec. 3, 1922. Hazel graduated from Deaconess Hospital as a registered nurse in 1945 and had worked in hospitals throughout the area.
Hazel married
Paul Schuman in Billings in 1945. He preceded her in death in 1976. On April 12, 1980, she married
Lorain H. Carlton. Lor preceded her in death Sept. 29, 1992.
Survivors include two children, Steven R. Schuman of Aberdeen, S.D., and Shirley I. Erdmann of Billings; four brothers, Leo C. Fowler of Laurel, Lloyd G. Fowler of Spokane, Boyce D. Fowler of Helena, and Bruce A. Fow1er of Seattle; four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, at Church of the Open Bible, 19th St. W. and Howard Ave.
Memorials may be made to Church of the Open Bible.

Carol Clark Dalley
Carol Clark Dalley passed away April 15, 2000.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Robert and Margrecia Clark.
She attended Colorado Women’s College and later graduated from University of Nebraska with a degree in economics. She continued her education in the master’s program.
Carol owned and operated Manpower Temporary Help Services in Billings for 20 years which was recognized as an exemplary office. She also negotiated contracts for Pierce Packing Co. with the Teamster’s union for a number of years.
Carol was an active member of Zonta International and served as president for two terms and district director for two years. She also served on the board of directors of the Associated Industries for 10 years and was involved in many civic service projects.
Carol is survived by two daughters, Sharon Tuhy (Randy) of Billings, and Lanette Boughey (Lynn) of Minot, N.D., and one cousin, Frances Clark of Riverside, Calif.
Private family services are planned in Cheyenne, Wyo.
