Erna Stickel
GLENDIVE - Erna Stickel, age 77, formerly of Fallon, bid farewell to family and friends on March 6, 2000, at Carolyn's Care Center in Glen-dive.
Erna was born on Dec. 10, 1922, at the family farm near Plevna, the daughter of Paul and Johanna Sophia (Krueg) Straub. She went to the Dry Fork Grade School and graduated from Plevna High School in 1940. She attended Western Montana College in Dillon and graduated from Miles City Community College receiving her teaching certificate. She taught several years in Fallon County schools. On Sept. 27, 1953, she was united in marriage to Albert Stickel. They farmed and ranched south and east of Fallon. They were blessed with the births of a daughter, Synneva and a son, Elton.
Erna devoted her life to her family. She attended and supported her children in all their school activities, church activities, and community activities. She was a member of the Frieden's Congregational Church and when it closed, attended the Terry Community Presbyterian Church and the Fallon Evangelical Church. She enjoyed cooking, baking, embroidering, crocheting, gardening, and genealogy. She also enjoyed her grandchildren very much. Erna's faith, courage, determination, and strength have been an inspiration to her family and friends.
In February of 1996, Erna moved to Glendive. In October of the same year Albert passed away. The past four years she has lived at Carolyn's Care Center. The wonderful loving care given to Erna by the staff at the Center is greatly appreciated by her family.
Erna is survived by a daughter, Synneva Meldahl and her husband, Terry of Sidney; a son, Elton Stickel and his wife, Lynn of Eallon; a brother, Helmut Straub and his wife, Edna of Baker; three grandchildren: Carly, Lindsay, and Lane Stickel of Fallon; and numerous nieces and nephews. She joins her husband, Albert; her parents; and two sisters, Albina and Johanna who preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 10, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 11, 2000 at 1 p.m. in the Evangelical Church in Fallon. Interment will follow in the family lot in the Fallon Community cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Terry is in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Pust
SAVAGE - Funeral services for Mary Pust, 77, Savage, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2000, at the Bible Baptist Church in Sidney. Interment will be in the Riverview cemetery in Savage, under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney.
Mary G. Pust of Savage passed away on March 2, 2000, in Hanford, Calif., after a lengthy illness. She was 77 years of age. Mary was born in Savage on Jan. 27, 1923, to John and Carrie (Leivestad) Almond. She grew up in the Savage area and attended five years of school.
On May 6, 1941, Mary was united in marriage to William O. Post. Together they farmed at Midway Community until Mary's illness forced them to go to California, where she could get needed medical attention. They have lived with their daughter since 1997 in Hanford.
Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at a very early age. She lived out her faith and enjoyed sharing Christ with women and children all of her life. Mary was a charter member of Bible Baptist Church in Sidney. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She loved people and was always doing things to help others.
Mary is survived by her husband, William O. "Bill" Pust, currently resided in Hanford, Calif.; four children, Edwin (Karen) Pust of Hanford, Keith Pust of Riverside, Calif., Carol (Larry) Montgomery of Hanford; and Rev. Daniel (Jan) Pust of Glendive; 13 grandchildren; surviving siblings, John (Violet) Almond of Sidney, Annie (Joe) Klempel of Bigfork, Ida (John) Larson of Camp Verde, Ariz., Edith (Harold) Damm of Thermopolis, Wyo.; Harriet Damm of Hesperia, Calif., and Florence (Don) Dvorak, of Columbia Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roy Almond.

Russell W. Faus
CLEARFIELD, Utah - Russell W. Faus, retired regional engineer for the Bureau of Reclamation in Billings, died March 6, 2000, in Clearfield of pneumonia. He was 88.
Born on a homestead near Ismay (Joe), on July 31, 1911, he was one of eight children of Walter J. and Anna Steen Faus. He married
Barbra Lee Crow in Miles City, on Jan. 10, 1937, and they had more than 50 years together. She died in 1989.
He graduated from Terry High School and attended Montana State College for four quarters until the realities of the Depression forced him to quit. Before joining the Bureau, he supervised infrastructure and small dam work for the Works Projects Administration (WPA), worked on an Alaskan Railway construction crew and on B-17 parts fabrication at Boeing Aircraft, and managed a hardware store in Terry. He worked for the bureau at Heart Mountain, Powell and Worland, Wyo.; Huron, S.D.; and Glendive before moving to Billings in 1961. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, Elks, and NARFE.
After his retirement, he spent about half the year at the cabin he and his wife built on the Clark's Fork River in Wyoming. He was an avid fly fisherman who tied his own flies and patiently taught his beloved granddaughters how to fish. He also enjoyed woodworking, bowling and traveling.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandra (Paul) Perkin of Fruit Heights, Utah; two brothers, Warren of Belvedere, Calif., and Jack of Kent, Wash.; three granddaughters, Mia (Marty) Oramous of Hendersonville, N.C., Dr. Erin B. Perkin of Arlington, Va., and Jahnna (Dennis) Bythewood of San Pedro, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Billings. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association or the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch.
Harold Young
FORSYTH - Harold Young, 91, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at the Friendship Villa Care Center in Miles City of congestive heart failure.
Family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 10, in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. A private family graveside service will be held next week in the family lot of the Forsyth cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Forsyth is in charge.

GLENDIVE - Ona E. Tipton, age 76, of Glendive, died on Monday, March 6, 2000, at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive with Pastor James Hageman officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson County cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Vonice Brent and her husband, Brad of Billings, and Stacey Buckman and her husband, David of Belfield, N.D.; two sons, Leslie Tipton and his wife, Virginia of Glendive and Gary Tipton and his wife, Paige of Billings; two sisters, Norma Baker and her husband, Grant of Huson, Mont., and Nina Schmalz and her husband, Frank of Miles City; a special niece, Arlyn Archer of Olive; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Aloysius F. 'Rusty' Shortman
FORT BELKNAP - Aloysius F. "Rusty" Shortman, 49, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at the Fort Belknap Hospital of a myocardial infarction.
Wake service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at the Red Whip Center. Wake/Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, at the St. Paul's Mission in Hays. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 10, at St. Paul's Mission with interment in the St. Paul's Mission cemetery. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge.

LAME DEER - Teddy was born on May 5, 1927, at Helena and was raised a Northern Cheyenne. His adopted parents, Arthur Woodenthigh and Eva Whitecrow, lovingly taught him the language and traditional ways of the tribe. Because of this, and because in his heart he was Cheyenne, the tribe adopted him. Only one other person has been bestowed this honor.
He was raised and lived all his life on the Tongue River, attending school at St. Labre and Busby. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army and was honorably discharged in January 1947. He returned home and married
Eva Whitecrane; together they had nine children. Eva passed away in 1985. Over the years, Teddy was employed by Lenyard and Shonenbach, and St. Labre School. Teddy later married
Lillian Weaselbear and they had two children. They also adopted one child and raised a foster child.
He was a member of the Elk Horn Scrapers Society and was one of the founding leaders of the Ashland Hand Games. He and Lillian traveled throughout Indian Country participating in Hand Games. He served on the Ashland Pow-Wow Committee for a number of years, retiring in the mid 1990s, and was also an MC for many local gatherings.
Teddy departed this life on Sunday at the Indian Health Service in Lame Deer. Survivors include his birth mother, Rosella DuBrey; two brothers, Theodore Putra, and Melvin Raefield Woodenthigh; one sister, Francis Griffin; five daughters, Annie Woodenthigh, Clara (Raymond) Harris, Theda (Jimmy) Foote, Germaine (Monte) Haugen, and Iola Woodenthigh; two sons, Victor Woodenthigh and Melvin (Elvira) Woodenthigh. Three stepchildren, Anna White, Joseph Weaselbear, and Juanita Weaselbear; one adopted daughter, Rosella Woodenthigh; and one foster daughter, Sonja McArther, also survive him. He is survived by one adopted brother, Gib Little Calf, and three adopted children, Fred Rausch, Rhoda Glenmore, and Tracy Vivar. Teddy was the proud grandfather of 39 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Teddy's strong character and candid humor will be missed by all that knew him.
Wake Services will be held at 8 p.m. at the St. Labre Mission Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial Rite will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will follow at the St. Labre cemetery. Rausch Funeral Home of Lame Deer is entrusted with the arrangements.
Grace Elsa Strand
GLASGOW - Grace Elsa Strand, 91, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Colorado Springs, Colo.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 13, at Highland cemetery in Glasgow. Interment will follow the service. Bell Mortuary is in charge.
Claudina Maria Heily
DAWSON CREEK, B.C., Canada - Claudina Maria Heily was born in Red Lodge, Mont., on Jan. 19, 1926. She moved to Dawson Creek with her husband and six children in June 1968 and lived there until her death on Feb. 12, 2000.
Claudina was born the eldest child of Maria and Domenic Fenoglio of Red Lodge. She graduated from Carbon County High School in 1943 and attended St. Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing where she received her RN diploma. She married
James Stephens Heily in 1950.
Claudina was predeceased by her husband, Jim; her brother, Eddie; and her parents.
She is survived by her six children, Mary Pat Heily, Mike (Jeanne) Heily, Nora (Tom) MacNamara, Dan Heily, Molly Heily and Ted Heily; and three grandchildren.

Irene Ruth Moulder
POWELL, Wyo. - Irene Ruth Moulder, 78, died at her home on Sunday, March 5, 2000.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 11, at St. Barbara's Catholic Church. Interment will be held in Kalispell, Mont. Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home is in charge.
George E. Frickel
George E. Frickel, 95, of Billings, passed away March 7, 2000. He was born July 14, 1904, at Park City, the son of Phillip and Barbara Frickel.
He married
Amy E. Fitchner on Feb. 19, 1928, in Laurel. They lived west of Billings where they farmed and he worked as a switchman for Northern Pacific Railroad. They moved to Billings in 1948. She passed away in 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Corrine Michel and LaDonna (Larry) Bexell, both of Billings; two sons, Elwood (Carol) of Seattle, Gary of Springfield, Mo.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leona Stephens of Ventura, Calif., and Alice McGinnes of Federal Way, Wash.
George has also been preceded in death by his parents, a son, James, son-in-law, Dick Michel, a brother and two sisters.
Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 9 to 5 p.m. Thursday, and 9 to 12:30 p.m. on Friday. Friends may meet 12:15 p.m. Friday at Cremation or Funeral Galley for the graveside service which will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mountview cemetery. Memorials to charity of choice.

Eva L. Ash, 90 of Billings, died Tuesday, March 7, 2000. Funeral services and interment will be in Coatesville, Ind. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of local arrangements.

William 'Billy' Angelo
William "Billy" Angelo, 78, a Billings resident for four years and formerly of Spokane, Wash., passed away March 4, 2000. Bill was born Oct. 28, 1921, in Plevna, Mont., a son of Frank and Antoniette Angelo. Bill was raised and graduated from school in Plevna and was well known as one of the star forwards on Plevna's high school basketball team. He was a postal worker and carpenter most of his life. Bill cherished his family and many friends.
He is survived by two daughters, Rose Ann "Toni" Nelson (Dave) of Hardin and Kathy Smith (Smitty) of Arizona; seven grandchildren, Tawni Cox (Danny) of Laurel, Todd Maley (Deb) of Washington, Janet, Jim, Kenny, Carrie and Rusty of New Mexico; great-grandchildren, Chase William Cox, Shilo Shae Cox and Chance Robert Staples, all of Laurel, and Ashton Troy Maley of Washington.
We will all miss our loving father, grandfather and friend.
Private family services will be held in Hardin.
