ROLETTE, N.D. - Terry J. Scott, 63, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at the Quentin N. Burdick Memorial Health Care Facility in Belcourt. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, March 10 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment was in the Sacred Heart Catholic cemetery.
Nellie Patch
BUFFALO, Wyo. - Nellie Patch, 89, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. Visitation will be from 1p.m. until 10 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday from the Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday March 16 from the funeral home. Interment will be in Willow Grove cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Ellis and Nellie Patch Scholarship Foundation in care of the funeral home.
Anne Fowler Anderson
Anne Fowler Anderson died on March 9, 2000.
Anne was born in Lewistown on June 4, 1932, the daughter of Chauncey and Helen Fowler. After graduating from University of Montana, she taught high school English in Missoula for three years. She resided in Bozeman after marrying in 1958 and after divorcing in 1972.
Among civic activities in Bozeman, she was a member of the founding board of the Worthy Student Scholarship; she held the charter to organize Chapter BF PEO; she was the Lee Metcalf Fellowship recipient in 1980-1981 in Washington, D.C.; she received an inspirational teacher award during high school week in 1983; and she served as a city commissioner from 1981-1985. After teaching English at Bozeman Junior High School from 1972-1985, she lived in Washington, D.C. She enjoyed music reading, writing, gardening, cross-country driving and the companionship of family and friends.
She was a member of Delta Gamma, PEO and Delta Kappa Gamma, a teachers' honorary.
Survivors include two sons, Paul Fowler Anderson of Omaha, Neb.; Brent Charles Anderson and his wife, Elli of Golden, Colo.; a sister, Janet Fowler Dargitz of State College, Pa.; and four grandchildren, Erika, Aundrea, Ariana and Charlie.
A memorial service will be held on March 17, 2000, at 1 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in Bozeman. Private interment will be held on Saturday, March 11, in the Lewistown City cemetery. A reception will follow the interment at St. James Episcopal Church in Lewistown. Cremation has already taken place.

Mary Dawn Ropp
ROBERTS - Mary Dawn Ropp, 37, of Roberts, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings. She had suffered an aneurysm while attending a school-sponsored ski day with her children at Red Lodge Mountain.
She was born March 14, 1962, at Miller, S.D., the daughter of John and Elaine Coss. She was raised in Miller and graduated from high school at Rochester, Minn. She attended Northwest College in Powell, Wyo., studying in the equestrian program.
Mary married
Frank LeRoy Ropp on June 2, 1984, in Red Lodge, and worked closely with her husband on their ranch near Cooney Dam in the Roberts area. She also worked outside the home as a waitress and host and most recently as assistant banquet manager at Rock Creek Resort.
The love and joy of her life was her family, her church and her many close friends. She had the ability to give joy to the many people who crossed her path. She spent much of her time helping with the Sunday School program of her church, the Roberts United Methodist Church.
Another passion of Mary's was her horsemanship, and her love of her faithful horse, Abe, which has been at her side for the past 18 years.
Survivors include her husband, Frank; four children, Frank "Tyson" Ropp, age 14, MeLia Dawn Ropp, age 11, Macy Shay Ropp, age 8, and McKenzie Lynn Ropp, age 6. Also surviving is her mother, Elaine Coss Hanson of Pierre, S.D.; three brothers, Steven Coss of Pierre, Zac (Agnes) Coss of Ketchikan, Alaska and Jordan (Tonia) Coss of Rochester, Minn.; three sisters, Debra (Ron) Coss-Fricke of Vancouver, Wash., Rebecca (Bob) Coss-Stack of Loveland, Colo., and Theresa (Pat) Benz of Red Lodge and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her father, John, sister Vicoria, step-father Robert Hanson, mother-in-law Mildred Ropp and sister-in-law Brenda Jo Ropp.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, at the Roberts High School Gym. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Olcott Funeral Chapel in Red Lodge.

Mary's strong belief in the organ donation program is being demonstrated through the donation of her organs and benefiting the lives of at least ten recipients and aiding in medical research.
Elizabeth A. "Betsey" Brittain
Elizabeth A. "Betsey" Brittain is now at peace after struggling for years with the ravages of juvenile diabetes. She died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings. She was born in Denver, Colo. and went to school in Denver and Grand Junction before the family was transferred to Billings.
Betsey graduated from Eastern Montana College, where she got her BA in Education with a major in art and music. She taught at Senior High and Arrowhead Schools. Betsey was especially devoted to her teaching and was successful at motivating struggling students. She taught summer art classes at Arrowhead School and for the summer recreation programs.
Betsey played a piccolo, solo, in the All-State Band, the flute in the Community Band, was a member of the English Hand Bell Choir at First Presbyterian Church, and had a beautiful voice and enjoyed choir singing. She loved to cook and ride her horse. She had a passion for music, art, and working with people, both old and young. She also enjoyed designing and sewing clothes, skiing, picnics in the mountains, animals, and especially enjoyed spinning and weaving. She was preceded in death by two grandfathers, one grandmother, and one uncle.
Survivors include her mother, Ruthanna Brittain of Billings; her father, Bobby Brittain of San Jose, Calf.; her sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Charles Leggate, her nieces Heather and Melissa, and a nephew Eric, all of Billings; her grandmother, Golda Brittain of San Jose; and an aunt, Mrs. E.F. Chew and uncles, Ivan and Irvin Jones of Denver.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at noon Tuesday, March 14, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist, due to the construction at St. Patrick's. Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Cross cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, 2525 6th Ave. N., Billings, MT 59101.

SIDNEY - Betty Henderson Cayko, 69, passed away Friday, March 10, 2000, at the Billings Deaconess Medical Center in Billings.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, at the Lonsdale United Methodist Church with Pastor John Ulrich officiating. Interment will be in the Sidney cemetery under the direction of the Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney.

SHERIDAN, Wyo. - E. Marie Felix, 100, of Sheridan passed away at Sheridan Manor on Saturday, March 11, 2000.
Visiting hours will be from 1-5 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home on Monday, March 13. Rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 13, at Our Lady Of The Pines Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, at Holy Name Catholic Church with interment to follow in the Elk's cemetery. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Rev. Sheldon G. Helsley Evangelist and Church Planter
Shel entered the gates of heaven the morning of March 11, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Billings, at the age of 85. He was born Feb. 26, 1915, in Ceres, Calif., to Judge and Mrs. Stanton K. Helsley. Shel was married
to Ann Gray on Sept. 15, 1947. They were married
52 years.
Robert Service poignantly and poetically said, "There are men that somehow just grip your eyes and hold them hard like a spell...". This man truly gripped the hearts of so many for so long as he 'served the Lord with gladness' in his aggressive and passionate pursuit of the souls of men. His ministry began with the Old Fashioned Revival Hour in California as part of a quartet and as an evangelist. Later he served with Youth For Christ and for eight years was a staff evangelist for the New England Fellowship.
Shel, Ann and their five children moved to the Rocky Mountains to carry on evangelistic work and church planting, a ministry in which they have been involved for more than 40 years. Throughout his years of ministry, Shel has written a number of songs and poems, some of which are published. For more than 10 years, Shel served the Rocky Mountain Conservative Baptist Association in Wyoming and Montana, and more recently retired as visitation pastor at Heights Baptist Church, Billings.
He was a wonderful father and husband and is survived by his wife, Ann, of Colstrip; sister, Norma Jean McBeth and husband, Tom, of Salem, Ore.; three sons, Sheldon G. Helsley, Jr., of Colstrip, Joseph E. Helsley, of Seattle, and Jonathan E. Helsley and wife, Patti, of Billings; two daughters, Sandi Gilreath and husband, Fred, of Billings and Gayla Batie and husband, Dan, of Colstrip; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at Dahl Funeral Chapel, Billings. The burial will be held at Rockvale cemetery, Rockvale, Mont. Gordon Lanouette
Gordon Lanouette, 81, of Billings passed away in his sleep Friday, March 10, 2000, at Parkview Care Center after a battle with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Born in Sidney, Mont., on Sept. 5, 1918, he was one of three children to James and Elizabeth (Belanger) Lanouette. He married
Lavina McCoy on June 19, 1941, in Sheridan, Wyo., and they had over 59 years together. From this union, they had four children.
A WWII veteran, Gordon helped survey for a bridge over the Rhine, fought in the Battle of the Ardennes (the Bulge), the Colmar Pocket and the battle for the Ruhr, receiving the Purple Heart. Only in recent times would he speak of this. He was a modest man.
After Gordon's discharge in 1946, he resumed his studies and graduated from Montana Tech in 1949 with a bachelor of science degree in petroleum engineering. He then started work for British American Petroleum Co., working in various phases of petroleum engineering for 15 years in several Western states. In 1964, he was appointed by Gov. Tim Babcock to the Montana Oil and Gas Commission. In 1969, he resigned to begin his consulting business.
He was a registered petroleum engineer in Montana, Wyoming and North Dakota. In 1975, Mr. Lanouette started work for Tiger Oil Co., where he worked in North Dakota, Colorado, New Mexico and Oklahoma. He resumed his consulting business in 1977 until 1999. He was a respected professional in his field and will be missed by his many business associates.
During his life, Gordon loved the great outdoors and everything associated, from arrowhead hunting to bird hunting, fly fishing and camping.
Survivors include his wife, Lavina; daughter, Rochelle Cattrell (Edward) of Billings; son, Michael Lanouette and fiancee, Mary Lou Knodel of Billings; daughter, Mary Lou Behrman (Ben) of Escondido, Calif.; daughter, Jo Ann Manzanares (Gib) of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Lois Batt of Billings and Virginia Roberts (James) of San Marcos, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Karye Cattrell of Washington, Heather and Brie Lanouette of Billings and Michigan, Tamera, Dawnelle and Lacy Manzanares of Colorado, Autumn Anthony and Cody Behrman of California; several nieces; a nephew and many friends, among them, Rex Welton and Bill Lane. He was preceded in death by his parents.
For the past eight months, Gordon has lived at Parkview Care Center The wonderful care given to him by the staff there is greatly appreciated by the family.
Husband, Dad, Granddad (Bampa) and Friend, your quick wit and sense of humor will be sorely missed. We all love and miss you. See you on the other side...

MEETEETSE, Wyo. - Josephine McMillan, 94, passed away Sunday, March 12, 2000, at Canyon Hills Manor in Thermopolis, Wyo.
Visitation will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. Monday, March 13, at Pioneer Baptist Church in Meeteetse. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Meeteetse cemetery.

STANFORD - Hazel I. Olson, 90, of Stanford, died Saturday evening in the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center in Lewistown of natural causes.
Funeral services are pending. Cremation has taken place. The Cloyd Funeral Home of Lewistown is in charge of arrangements. Friends may make memorials to the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center in her memory and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.

TUCSON, Ariz. - Doris L. (Forsberg) Olsson, 77, of Tucson, Ariz. and former Lewistown resident, died Friday March 10, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital in Tucson of multiple myeloma.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 16, in the Cloyd Chapel Funeral Home in Lewistown, with interment to follow in the Veterans Section of the Lewistown City cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Central Montana Medical Center in Lewistown and they may be left at the Cloyd Funeral Home.

James J. Schriver
GLENDIVE - Jim Schriver, 72, of Glendive, formerly of Circle, went to join his daughter Jeanne and the Lord. He passed away on March 11, 2000, at the Glendive Medical Center.
Visitation will be held at 2-9 p.m. Monday, March 13, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Circle with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, at the Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Leo McDowell officiating. Interment will be in Riverview cemetery in Circle. Clayton Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Norman N. Schultz
Norman N. Schultz, 68, passed away March 12, 2000 due to cancer. We thank God for just a short battle.
Norman the son of Robert and Genevieve Schultz was born on Sept. 22, 1931 in Irvington, N.J. Norman attended High School in Flemington, N.J. He served in the National Guards for seven years.
Norman met Joan E. Simon, to love of his life and they were married
on Oct. 21, 1951. Together they had 14 children. Norman worked for Shoprite, Pathmark, Grand Union and the Swift Meat Company as a butcher. He belonged to the Meat Cutters Union for 17 years. Norman was a jack of all trades. He also worked part time for R& S Auto Parts Store and sold real estate and shoes in Toms River, N.J. He later started his own business, Air Fresh Septic.
After a severe accident, Norman and his family packed up in 1973 and moved their roots to Billings, Montana He bought the 8th Ave. Market and later changed it to Little Britches Day Care. Dads Motto "The only mistake you make is the one you repeat." preceded in death by his wife Joan, his brother Warren and his father Robert.
Surviving is his mother Genevieve, his brother Robert, and Norman's children, Jeannette Busby, Joan Winters, Norman Schultz Denise Owens, Deborah Buckingham, Cathy Strozzi, Alfred Schultz, Jill LeBrum, David Schultz. Robert Schultz, John Schultz, Deanna Tigar, Richard Schultz, Genevive Trollop; 31 grandchildren and 2 great grand daughters.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday March 15, at the Terrace Gardens cemetery. Cremation will take place following visitation from 6-9 p.m. Monday evening at Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. West. Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice, P.O. Box 35033, Billings. 59107.

BIG TIMBER - Elmer Robert Stewart, 90, passed away March 12, 2000, at Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber, of natural causes.
