FAIRVIEW - Robert "Bob" Scheetz Sr., 65, Died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at the Sidney Health Center.
Funeral services are at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at Fulkerson Memorial Home Chapel. Cremation will follow.

Herman Sorensen
SIDNEY - Herman Sorensen, 89, died on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at the Hillcrest Care Center in Hettinger, N.D.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, at the Peoples Congregational Church in Sidney. Interment will be in the Brorson cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home is in charge.

Garry V. Fisher
Garry V. Fisher, a local resident for forty-six years, died Feb. 6 of complications from Altzeimer's disease at age 73. He was born in Butte, Mont., to Garnet Fisher and Lucille Di Rago Fisher on Aug. 11, 1926. Both his parents left Butte to pursue careers in the entertainment industry, so Garry remained there in the care of his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Ethel Fisher, until he graduated from Butte High School in 1944. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as one of the first troops to occupy Japan at the end of WWII. After his discharge from military service, he enrolled at the University of Montana where he met his wife, Patty Fisher. They married in 1948, and he graduated from U of M School of Law in 1951. From graduation until 1953, Garry worked for the Justice Dept. in Washington, D.C. He then returned to Montana to work for the Dept. of the Interior in several capacities until he retired as an administrative law judge for the Office of Hearings and Appeals in 1983.
Garry was the product of a musical family. His father and grandmother were accomplished musicians, and he started playing piano and violin at an early age. In high school, he took up the trombone which he continued to play in regional dance bands throughout his college years in Missoula. He remained an avid lover and collector of jazz until his death. He was also well-known for his forays into cooking, particularly the art of barbecue.
Garry is survived by his wife Patty of Billings, his daughter Allison Fisher and her husband Avram Siegel of Berkeley, Calif. Cremation has taken place. A gathering in his honor is planned for a date in the spring. All friends and acquaintances will be welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the many charities dedicated to Altzeimer' s research.

Francis Joseph Winder
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Brother Francis Joseph Winder, 92, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at Sheridan Manor.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, at the Clackamas Meeting and Banquet Facilities. 15815 S.E. 82nd Drive, Clackamas, Ore. Champion Funeral Home was in charge of local arrangements.

Evelyn McMakin
MILES CITY - Evelyn McMakin, 84, formerly of Fallon, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at the Holy Rosary Health Center.
Prayer services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, in the Fall Evangelical Church in Fallon. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in the family lot of the Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery in Glendive.

Don Leach
MILES CITY - Don Leach, 69, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at the Holy Rosary Health Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Custer County cemetery with full military rites.

Richard J. Holmstrom
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Richard J. Holmstrom died unexpectedly in his sleep in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Friday, Feb. 4, 2000. He was born in Billings, Mont., on Aug. 17, 1961, graduated from West High in 1979, from Boston University in 1983 and from Columbia University Law School in 1988. He practiced law in New York City since his graduation. He is survived by his parents, Robert W. and Patricia Holmstrom, and his sister, T. Jan Thom, all of Billings.
Funeral arrangements are pending.

Joseph Elmer Norman
GREYBULL, Wyo. - Joseph Elmer Norman, 72, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at his residence in Greybull.
Visitations will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Atwood Family Funeral Chapel. and one-half hour before the funeral service on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Grace Southern Baptist Church. Memorials for a fund to be designated at a later date may be sent to the Security State Bank in Basin, Wyo.

David L. Hereim
MARTINSDALE - David L. Hereim, 55, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, while snowmobiling near Spring Creek. Dave was born in Helena, Mont., on Sept. 16, 1944, to Clarance and Pauline (Gibson) Hereim. In 1962, he graduated from high school in White Sulphur Springs and then attended MSU in Bozeman for a number of years, studying ag-mechanics. On June 1, 1970, he married Patricia A. Bryson and eight years later took over Martinsdale Repair where he worked. Dave loved the outdoors, especially snowmobiing, hunting, and 4-wheeling. His hunting brought many proud moments as he recently helped his daughter and boyfriend shoot a 6-point bull elk. Dave loved to have fun and most of all loved his wife, daughter, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Knute, half-sister Hildie Chavez and son Norman David.
Dave is survived by his wife, Pat of the home; daughter, JoEllen Hereim of Havre; one half-sister Carol Hough of Rochester, Mich., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday. Feb. 9, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lennep, Mont., with burial following at the Lennep cemetery. Twichel Funeral Home made the arrangements.

Beanie Blackman
HARDIN - Beanie Blackman, 50, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at the Big Horn County Nursing Home in Hardin.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Beals Mortuary Chapel in Forsyth with interment to follow in the Forsyth cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Big Horn County Nursing Home Activities Fund.

Margaret Siriano
LIVINGSTON - Margaret Siriano, 92, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Billings Deaconess Medical Center.
Vigil will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, and Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, both at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Livingston. Graveside committal and interment will follow in Calvary cemetery. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home is in charge.

Claude Wayne Myers
LIVINGSTON - Claude Wayne Myers, 83, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Billings Deaconess Hospital following heart surgery.
Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home, 118 N. Third St. Graveside committal and interment of the cremains will follow in Mountain View cemetery.

Wilho E. Timonen
RED LODGE - Wilho E. Timonen, 94, of Red Lodge, died Thursday evening, Feb. 3, 2000, in Cedar Wood Villa.
He was born on Sept. 15, 1905, in Red Lodge, a son of Isaac and Maria (Jalokoski) Timonen. In 1924, he graduated from Carbon County High School where he played basketball. Wilho worked in Longview, Wash., before moving to the Los Angeles area, where he worked various jobs until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in March of 1942. He served with the 640th Tank Destroyer Battalion in Luzon and in the Phillipines.
After his discharge in 1945, Wilho began his 24-year career with the U.S. Postal Service in Culver City, Calif. In 1984, he returned to Red Lodge.
Wilho always kept busy, and he enjoyed walking and visiting with friends. He was a 50-year member of Branch #24 of the National Association of Letter Carriers.
Survivors include four sisters, Sigrid S. Timonen of Red Lodge, Mae Lillian (Steve M.) Karina of Harwood Heights, Ill., Lila Mildred (Clarence L.) Tucker of Midland, Texas, and Clara T. Jarvi of Red Lodge; one brother, Heimo H. Timonen of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; one sister-in-law, Ollie Pederson Timonen of Billings; three nieces, Verna Ahola Ward Herbert of Red Lodge, April Tucker (Curtis) Grabowski of Arlington, Texas, and Holly Marie Tucker of Crowley, Texas; four nephews, Stephen J. Karina of Annandale, Va., Dennis M. (Debra) Karina of Crystal Lake, Ill., Dr. Robert M. (Patricia) Timonen of Edmonds, Wash., and Wayne B. Timonen of Coeur d'Alene; six grandnieces and three grandnephews, and many other loved relatives.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Waino "Kitty", John "Bunny", Walter and Oliver Timonen and one sister, Tyyne Ahola Paavola.
Memorial services will be held during the summer of 2000, and will be announced when scheduled. Cremation has taken place, with the Olcott Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to the charity of one's choice.

Baptiste L. 'Batt' Obert
ROBERTS - Baptiste L. "Batt" Obert, 100, of Roberts, died Friday morning, Feb. 4, 2000, in Cedar Wood Villa in Red Lodge where he has resided for the past two years.
Born in Red Lodge's Little Italy on March 20, 1899, he was a son of Joseph and Maria (Deviona) Obert. He celebrated his Baptism, First Holy Communion and Confirmation at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Red Lodge. He attended school in Red Lodge through grade 5. His family then moved to Roberts where his father homesteaded what is now the John Obert Jr. ranch. He attended Roberts School through 8th grade.
On Nov. 15, 1920, Baptiste married Evelyn Kisinger. They raised three daughters, Lorena, Jean and Elvina. He loved farming and ranching. His place, the BLO Ranch, is presently owned by Tony and Lorena Papez.
As a young man, he greatly enjoyed playing baseball, and was a catcher on area teams during the 1920s and 1930s. He remained a fan of the game throughout his life. He was a life member of the Elks and Eagles Lodges, and a charter member of the Italian Society. Batt was known for his homemade salami and wine.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Obert in 1974; daughter, Jean Karina Koski; son, Raymond; grandson, Andrew Jordan; brothers, Pete, Bert, Dominic, Joe and John and a sister, Edith Hatten.
Survivors include two daughters, Lorena (Tony) Papez of Roberts, and Elvina (Lewis) Jordan of Roberts and Lovell, Wyo.; one sister, Rose Ward of Boyd; 11 grandchildren, Sheryl (Conrad) Hale, Julie (Gary) Harmala, Evelyn (Richard) Smith, Gayle (Mike) Loughney, Kandace (David) Leslie, Ken (Jewel) Karina, Joe (Diane) Karina, Rick (Connie) Waples, Tom (Susan) Jordan, Dan (Debbie) Jordan, and Peggy Jordan Horne; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday in St. Agnes Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Feb. 7 in the Church. Interment will be in the Roberts cemetery with the Olcott Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be given to the Roberts Community Foundation, Box 284, Roberts, MT 59070.

Mildred Cooper
Mildred Cooper went home to be with the Lord, Feb. 3, 2000. She was born Aug. 7, 1930, in Monte Vista, Colo., the daughter of Carl E. and Frances Mae Schmittel.
Mildred lived the first six years of her life with her great aunt, Blanche and Guy Markland. She then lived with her father, Carl and Emma Lou Schmittel on the family farm and ranch operation near Center, Colo. She graduated in 1948 from Center Consolidated High School. She attended Colorado State Teacher's College in Greeley, Colo.
She married Verne Cooper Jr. on Feb. 12, 1949, in Center where they operated an experimental farm for Colorado State University. They also lived Del Norte, Colo.; Howe, Idaho; and Billings where they were involved in the agriculture industry.
Mildred was first and foremost a homemaker. As her sons grew, she took on other roles such as librarian, Mountain Bell operator, and health care provider. As her four sons embarked upon their own careers, she resumed her calling as a caregiver, tending to elderly people as if they were family. Mildred was incapacitated by a stroke in November of 1999, and was ultimately defeated by another one on Feb. 3. She was a long-time member of Bitterroot Extension Club and the Christian Church. She gave generously of her time and resources to a wide variety of charities and churches such as the Yellowstone Boy's and Girl's Ranch, the Montana Rescue Mission, Faith Chapel, the Westside Baptist Church, and numerous other health and welfare organizations.
Mildred is survived by her four sons and their families, Jerry and Pamela Cooper and grandchildren, Julia, Timothy and Christopher; son and daughter-in-law, Monte Cooper and Deb Berglund; Kurt Cooper and dear friend, Janna Johnson, all of Bozeman; grandson, Brian Cooper of Huntley, and son and daughter-in-law Ken and Kathy Cooper and grandson, Levi, of Everett, Wash. Two sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna Mae Jenkins and Leonard Jenkins of Center, Anne and Jack Bailey of Denver also survive her, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Final interment will be at the family grave site in Monte Vista, Colo. A memorial service is scheduled at the Westside Baptist Church (406) 656-6885 at 323 S. 32nd St. W. in Billings, at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 8. Memorials can be made to the Montana Rescue Mission, 2822 Minnesota Ave., Billings, MT 59101.

Alta Avi Roberts Cremer
HARDIN - Alta Avi Roberts Cremer passed away from the affects of cancer on Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000 in Billings, with her loving daughters by her side.
She was the only daughter born to Berry J. and Alta (Fox) Roberts on March 6, 1932 in Sheridan, Wyo. Her family homesteaded near the mouth of the Musselshell River, before settling in the Hardin area. She was raised and educated initially at Wyola, prior to the family's final move to Hardin in 1942.
Alta was very accomplished in high school art, choir, band, gymnastics, and track, graduating from Hardin High School with honors in 1950. She married Patrick T. (Spud) Cremer on April 26, 1952 and started her family of three daughter in 1954. Alta and the girls accompanied Spud on various ranch and livestock jobs spanning most of Montana, including Hardin, Wyola, Billings, Sand Springs, Jordan, Butte and Sidney. The couple divorced in 1970 and Alta and the girls returned to Hardin.
She continued to be very active in community and church choirs for over 50 years. She even performed semi-professionally, while working full-time and raising her family. Her artistic accomplishments have been numerous and continue to be treasured by her many family and friends. Upon near completion of raising her family, Alta obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Eastern Montana College in Billings. After her graduation, she pursued her counseling career in the fields of domestic violence, alcohol and chemical addiction. Her career led her from Billings to Worland, Wyo.; Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; Phoenix, Ariz. and Spokane, Wash., before her retirement in 1994.
Alta will be remembered for her intelligence, humor, spirit and compassion all of which helped her to excel throughout her often trying life. Alta's family and animals were the center of her being and her loyalty to both well prevail for many generations. Her last wish has been honored via the following: she was able to remain in her home until death with the devoted help of her family, Big Sky Hospice and Yellowstone County Home Care Services.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Berry and Alta Roberts; brothers, Sonny, Hap and little Berry Roberts.
Survivors include three daughters, Maureen Schaak and husband Dale of Billings, Kelly Grow and husband Tracy of Glendive and Pat Cremer of Roundup; two brothers, Lee Roberts and wife "Mike" of Forsyth and Bob Roberts and wife Donna of Billings; four grandchildren; one great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, 2000 in the Bullis Funeral Chapel in Hardin.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to any animal shelter with a no-kill policy.

Arlene Loebe
LAUREL - Arlene Loebe (Brown), age 58, of Laurel, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, Feb 5, 2000.
She was born on August 26, 1941 in Beach, N.D. to Arthur and Virginia Brown.
Arlene truly loved her husband, her two daughters and son-in-law, and her five grandchildren. Arlene had a gift for writing poetry. She also loved to read, do crafts, and she enjoyed getting together with her best friends from the ladies church group every Wednesday.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother David, a nephew Little Art, and numerous aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her husband Andrew of Laurel; daughter Virginia and husband Doug Schreiner of Laurel; daughter Kimberly Kukowski of Colo.; five grandchildren: Greg, Kris, and Casey Schreiner of Laurel; and Kayleigh and Jacob Mullins of Colo.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000 at St Anthony Catholic Church in Laurel. Inurnment will take place at the Laurel cemetery. Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel is in charge of arrangements.
