Clayton Bruce Big Man Jr.
CROW AGENCY - Clayton Bruce Big Man Jr., 32, of Crow Agency, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, of heart complications.
Ahpaaxe' He'eleenmachiash "Warrior in the Sky" was born April 24, 1967, in Crow Agency, a son of Clayton B. Big Man Sr. and Lois Jefferson. He grew up and attended schools in the State of Washington, received his GED in Montana and later attended Little Big Horn College in Crow Agency. During his younger years, he jockeyed race horses for John Bull in Sight.
Clayton married
Sherri Doyle and was later divorced. He married
Jolene Belmarez in 1999.
He enjoyed beading, fishing, hunting, karate, lifting weights and traveling. However, he especially enjoyed cooking for his family and friends and taking care of his children. He was a member of the Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jolene of Hardin; two sons, Daniel of Billings, Derek of Lame Deer; three daughters, Cindi, Heather and Summer of Billings; his mother, Lois Jefferson of Hardin; his father, Clayton Big Man Sr. of Hardin; two brothers, Larry (Rosella) Frye Jr. of Washington and Spencer Big Man of Dunmore; two sisters, Lydia (Warren) Wolf Black of Lame Deer and Lucille Lynn Jefferson of Washington; four adopted brothers, Leonard Jefferson and Wayne Other Medicine of Hardin, Wendell Wolf Black Sr. of Lodge Grass and Cheyenne Bixby of Washington; one adopted sister, Lucille Broken Rope of Washington; his grandparents, Violet Other Medicine and Margaret Anderson of Hardin, Mary Hoops of Washington, Judith Jefferson and Calvin Jefferson of Lodge Grass, Ben Jefferson of Fort Smith; his aunts and uncles, Joseph (Rachel) Wallace, Willie (Mary) Stewart, Cornelius Little Nest, Violet (Leonard) Wolf Black, Carol (John) Bull in Sight and Maudine Stewart of Crow Agency, Linda Dust of Dunmore; Henry (Edith) C. Jefferson Sr. of Busby, Dennis Bulltail of New Mexico, Wilma (Ronald) LaForge, Kathy Leider and Patricia (Lee) Arellano of Billings, Darlene (Dwayne) Bixby, Connie Wallace and Aaron Vine Horse of Hardin; and one great uncle, Ben Big Man Sr. of Crow Agency.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday in the Hardin House of Hope Church. Interment will follow in the Crow Agency cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Sarah F. Wommack
Sarah F. Wommack, 75, of Billings, passed away at her home on Feb. 5, 2000, of natural causes.
She was born July 30, 1924, in Dallas, Iowa, the daughter of Frank W. and Amelia B. Randall.
She graduated from Woodward (Iowa) High School on May 13, 1943, and married
Rex Wommack Jr. in Billings on July 2, 1960. Her husband, Rex, passed away on Sept. 26, 1994.
Sarah is survived by three brothers, Everett of Woodward, Richard of Ogden, Iowa, and Kenneth of Bowie, Md., and one sister, Florence Snyder of Williamson, Pa.
She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Robert L. Wommack, and her sister-in-law, Gail Wommack of Laurel.
Memorials may be made to the Special K Ranch, or the charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, and no services are planned.
Mary Ruth Southworth
LAUREL - Mary Ruth Southworth, age 70, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at the Deaconess Hospital in Billings after a brief illness.
Mary was born June 30, 1929, in Lombard, Mont., a daughter to Ola Lee and John Thomas Altice. Mary was raised and educated in both Lombard and the Park City area. She married
Joseph Laverne Southworth of Park City, July 22, 1946. They moved to Laurel in 1957 and raised five children together there. Mary was preceded in death by her mother, her father and a sister.

Because Mary had such a love for flowers, she was a floral designer for many years in Laurel, working at the Flowers Shoppe. Upon her retirement, she nurtured and grew exceptionally unique and beautiful irises in her garden and flower beds surrounding her home on Valley Drive. Along with her passion for flowers, Mary loved to work in her vegetable garden, loved tole painting, sewing, photography, playing her Hawaiian guitar and enjoyed many arts and crafts. She always lent an ear and had a soft shoulder for her children, her 15 grandchildren and 3 foster grandchildren, as well as, her 13 great-grandchildren. She loved them all dearly along with her life-long partner, friend and husband, Joe.
Among her survivors are also those who loved her dearly and whose lives she touched. Survivors include two sisters, Shirley Beecher of Billings and Jay French of Spokane, Wash.; her husband, Joseph Southworth of Laurel; daughter and sonin-law, Laurie and Phillip Dietz of Marysville, Wash.; son, Thomas Southworth of Dandridge, Tenn., and Susie; daughter and son-in-law, Valarie and Steven Krum of Laurel; son, Glen Southworth of Billings and Tammy; and youngest son and daughter-in-law, Darin and Jodi Southworth of Laurel.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 11, 2000. Interment will follow in the Park City cemetery. The family suggests any memorial contributions be made to ZooMontana and Big Sky Iris Club. "We love you and will miss you mom, you were our beautiful flower..."
Tillie H. (Fried) Schroeder
Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 10, 2000, at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Billings, and Grace Lutheran Church in Driscoll, N.D., at 11 a.m. on Feb. 12. Memorials are to be made to the church and burial will be made at the Driscoll cemetery. Mrs. Tillie H. (Fried) Schroeder, of 716 Shawnee Drive, Billings, went home to be with her Lord on Feb. 9,2000, at her home.
Tillie was born Sept. 14, 1917, to Thomas and Karolina (Dewald) Mertz at the homestead near Goodrich, N.D. She married
William Fried May 1, 1937, and William passed away on Sept. 4, 1973. To this union were born nine children and one child prior to this union. She then married
Gordon Edward Schroeder May 4, 1982, adding seven more children into her family.
Tillie was a farm wife 36 years and then she did some traveling alone and with Gordon after their marriage. She was a very loving, caring and God-fearing sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed reading very much along with self-doctoring throughout her life. Preceding her in death is her first husband, (William-Bill) and second husband, (Gordon), son, Herb (Hilbert) Fried.
Survivors include sisters: Clara Mertz, Olga Wainio and Verna Eckholm; sons: Roy Kozitsky, Pismo Beach, Calif., Willard (Norma) Fried, Portland Ore., Ileen Fried, Pocatello Idaho, William-Bill (Ann) Fried, Billings Gary Fried and Arnie Fried, Bismarck, N.D., Art (Linda) Fried, Spokane, Wash., Dennis (Judy) Fried, Bismarck N.D.; daughters: Lorraine (Rueben) Eckman and Angie-Florence (Dick) Seabury, Billing; 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

ALZADA - Lee Thomas, 68, died on Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at the family ranch.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, in the Chapel of Stevenson's Funeral Home in Ekalaka. SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Keith A. Levick, 43, died on Feb. 7, 2000.

CASPER, Wyo. - Memorial services for JoAnn Kukus, formerly of Sidney, Mont., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Ebenezer Congregational Church in Sidney. Interment will be in the Sidney cemetery. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney is in charge.

SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Kenneth Samuel McLean, 83, died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Visitation will be at Ferries funeral Home all day Wednesday, Feb. 9, until 5 p.m. and on Thursday until the time of service. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday from First Christian Church. Interment will be in St. Francis Mission, S.D., on the Sioux reservation in his family burial plot. Funeral liturgy will be recited from St. Charles Catholic Church, St. Francis, S.D., at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb.12. Memorials may benefit the First Christian Church in Sheridan or St. Charles Catholic Church in St. Francis.
Sarah 'Sallie' McNaney
KILLDEER - Funeral services for Sarah "Sallie" Erzinger McNaney, 71, formerly of Grassy Butte, N.D., will be at 2 p.m. MST Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Grassy Butte Community Hall. Interment will be in the Grassy Butte cemetery. A family service will be at 10:30 a.m. MST Saturday at the Hilltop Home of Comfort in Killdeer. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of one's choice.

SCOBEY - Lawrence Utech, 84, died Tuesday, Feb.8, 2000, at the Daniels Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, at the Scobey Alliance Church. Interment will be in the Scobey cemetery. Waller funeral Home is in charge.
Dolores 'Babe' McKenna
WORLAND, Wyo. - Dolores Vivian "Babe" McKenna, 70, passed away Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000.
She was born April 9, 1929, in Worland, the daughter of James I. and Alta (Stevens) Case. She attended schools in Worland, Thermopolis and beauty school in Denver.
She married
Robert Stotler in 1949, and they were later divorced. In 1969, she married
J.D. McKenna, who preceded her in death in June 1999.
She was actively involved in Al Anon and enjoyed helping people. She was very artistic and loved to remodel and redecorate houses.
She is survived by her little dog, "Mity"; two brothers, Earl Ray Case of Casper and James L. Case of Winnemucca, Nev.; one sister, Gloria Leasendora of Casper; several nieces and nephews, and friend Bob Smith.
She was preceded in death by her second husband, her parents, two brothers, Ronald and Laurel Case; and a nephew Robert J. Case.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bustard's Funeral Home by Father Royce Brown of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Interment of cremains will be in the Oregon Trail Veterans cemetery in Evansville, Wyo. Memorials may be sent to the Humane Society, 260 Crescent Drive, Casper, WY 82604, or may be left at Bustard's Funeral Home and Crematory, who are in charge of arrangements.
Beatrice Ann 'Beanie' Blackman
HARDIN - Beatrice Ann "Beanie" Blackman, 50, of Hardin, and formerly of Hysham, passed away Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at the Big Horn Memorial Nursing Home in Hardin, where she had been a resident the past four years.
Beanie was born March 5, 1949, in Forsyth, the daughter of Ruel and Julia Delano Blackman. Beanie grew up in the Hysham area and lived in numerous areas throughout Montana before moving to Hardin.
Beanie was a joy to all who knew her and she would always brighten the day with her many hugs and teasing. Beanie loved to color pictures, do jigsaw puzzles, and loved country music, especially Billy Ray Cyrus.
She is survived by her mother, Julia of Hardin; three sisters, Leota Williams of Billings, Helen Buckley of Glendive and Cecile Hoenke of Frenchtown; many nieces, nephews and a very special friend Jo Engellant of Hardin. Beanie was preceded in death by her father; two brothers, Dan and Leonard Blackman; and her sister, Lois Newman.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Beals Mortuary Chapel in Forsyth with interment to follow in the Forsyth cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Big Horn County Nursing Home Activities Fund, 17 N. Miles, Hardin, MT 59034. Beals Mortuary of Forsyth is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Anna E. Gerber
JOLIET - Anna E. Gerber, 97, of Joliet, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at the Western Manor.
She was born in Hungary on April 29, 1902, the daughter of Andrew and Barbara Stricker. At the age of seven, she and her parents came to the United States. She married
Mike Gerber in 1928. To that union three children were born, Josephine, Gladys and George Gerber.
She, her husband and children lived in the Edgar-Joliet area for many years. She was an avid gardener and loved to grow vegetables and flowers.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, her husband and two son-in-laws. Survivors include daughters Josephine Vladic and Gladys Smith, one son George (Delores) Gerber, 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and four great-great grandsons.
Anna has lived the last four years at Ginny Wanner's personal Care Home.
Cremation has taken place. Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, at Cremation or Funeral Gallery, 8th Street. W. and St. Johns Avenue. Memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Joliet. Private inurnment will follow at Rockvale cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Joliet Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 324, Joliet, MT 59401, or the charity of choice. Arrangements were made by Cremation or Funeral Gallery.
Pablo Elvira Jr.
BOZEMAN - Pablo Elvira Jr. passed away Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at his beloved home overlooking the beautiful Gallatin Valley. Pablo was born on Sept. 24, 1937, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the oldest of three children.
The son of a prominent dance orchestra leader, Pablo began his musical career playing jazz trumpet with his father's group. He later formed his own orchestra and performed with well-known celebrities at the El San Juan Hotel. The turning point in his singing career was his introduction to Pablo Casals. After a successful audition for Casals, Pablo was chosen to tour Casals' Oratorio for world peace which he subsequently recorded with Casals conducting.
In 1966, he participated in the Metropolitan Opera auditions in New York and was selected by the dean of the Indiana University School of Music to join their voice faculty. He remained there for eight years and performed leading baritone roles in the opera schools productions. After a year spent performing in Europe, he returned briefly to Indiana before moving to New York and debuting with the New York City Opera. In 1978, he made his Metropolitan Opera debut and became one of their leading baritones.
He met his wife, Signe Landoe, in 1967 at the School of Music in Indiana. They were married
in 1975 in New York City and moved to Bozeman where they built their home in 1976. In the spring of 1981, Pablo and Signe's son, Pablo Miguel, was born.
Pablo joined his good friend Anthony Stivanello and MSU voice faculty member Verity Bostick, to form Bozeman's Intermountain Opera Association in the spring of 1979. He served as artistic director and performed leading baritone roles for many years.
Although Pablo sang all over the world, his heart was always here in the Gallatin Valley with the people he so dearly loved.
Pablo was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Florencia Elvira. He is survived by his wife, Signe; son, Pablo; two brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen Yost
BOZEMAN - Helen Grace Yost, 87, passed away quietly at her home on Saturday, Feb. 5, 1000, after a short battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel with The Reverend Larry Nelson officiating.
Margie Louise (Wagner/Hoyem) Wolf
BOZEMAN - Margie Louise (Wagner/Hoyem) Wolf, 66, passed away Feb. 7, 2000, at the Evergreen/Bozeman Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born May 5, 1933, in Big Timber, to Alfred F. and Mildred (Dean) Wagner.
She obtained her schooling in Big Timber, having graduated from Sweet Grass High School in 1951. Following her graduation, she was employed by Eddie's Cafe and Davis Grocery in Big Timber. She attended VoTech in both Butte and Billings. She married
Ronald T. Hoyem on Sept. 18, 1954. They resided in Bozeman where they raised their three children. She went to work at McDonald's Clothing Store in 1970; at First National Bank in 1972; and then worked for the State of Montana Department of Revenue from 1978 until retiring in 1995.
She married
Bozeman artist, John Wolf, in 1984. She realized a life-long dream when she took a two-week vacation to Germany to visit her son, John, in 1992. Perhaps her happiest moment, was the birth of her granddaughter, Amanda Ostermiller, in 1985.
She is survived by her son, Craig A. Hoyem of Oxnard, Calif.; son, John W. Hoyem, of Portland, Ore.; daughter, Rhonda L. Hoyem of Kirkland, Wash.; granddaughter, Amanda L. Ostermiller, of Kirkland; sister, Mildred Martinz; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Herb McCauley; brother and sister-in-law, David and Ila Wagner; sister, Veva Stoessel, all of Big Timber; sister, Shirley Bradfield of Hilmar, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her long-time friends: Diane Steffan, Barb Gianfrancisco, and Linda Willmuth, all of Bozeman; and Rosie Wilson of Poulsbo, Wash.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Wagner, her first husband, Ronald T. Hoyem, and second husband, John Wolf.
