Mildred Mogen
FORSYTH - Mrs. Robert E. (Mildred) Mogen, a long-time resident of southeastern Montana and Rosebud County, passed away Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 1, 1999, at the Rosebud Health Care Nursing Home in Forsyth.
Known affectionately as "Millie" by her friends, she was dedicated throughout her life to the task of being a good "homemaker."
This was reflected in the unending attention she gave to her yard, garden and home, and especially in the many handmade crafts and needlework creations which she shared with her family and those she valued most. Millie was also very fond of family gatherings with her parents, brothers, children and friends.
Mildred Gazella Sherman was born June 17, 1917, in Sentinel Butte, N.D., the daughter of Adam and Grace Kohler Sherman.
She spent her early years on the family homestead north of Miles City, and then moved with her family to various communities in southeastern Montana, before finally settling in Forsyth in the mid-twenties. She shared these times with her four brothers, John, George, Jim and Larry, as well as many friends.
In 1938, Mildred met Robert (Bob) Mogen, a young man from the Ashland country, and the attraction was sparked by a mutual fondness for waltzing. Both of them loved to dance.
They were married
two years later on March 23, 1940, and during the following years, Millie and Bob built a home together in Forsyth for their family of four boys.
They continued to live there until 1954 and then moved the family to a small farm east of Forsyth on the Yellowstone River.
After 20 years on the farm, they moved back to the old family home in Forsyth where they lived together until Bob passed away in the fall of 1994. And so now, Millie, may you continue the dance.
Mildred is survived by her four sons, Bob Jr. and his wife, Ingrid of Forsyth; Ron and his wife, Patti, also of Forsyth; Rod and his wife, Lisa of Rosebud; and Randy of Missoula; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Margaret and MaryAnn Sherman, both of Forsyth, and two of Bob's sisters, Mabel Cotton Bowman of Billings, and Marie Findlay of Mapleton, Ore. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents, and her four brothers.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forsyth. Interment will follow in the family plot in the Forsyth Catholic cemetery. Beals Mortuary of Forsyth is assisting the family with these arrangements.
