Marguerite Betsy Chisholm
LAUREL - Marguerite B. Chisholm, 97, formerly of Greybull, Wyo., died Wednesday, Dec. 15, at the Evergreen Memorial Nursing Home in Laurel, Mont.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Atwood Family Funeral Chapel in Greybull. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Hillside cemetery in Greybull.
Laurin R. Gowdy
Laurin P. Gowdy, 90 of Billings, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at Eagle Cliff Manor.
The son of John and Alto Gowdy, Laurin was born June 21, 1909, in Wray, Colo. His family moved to Kansas where he graduated high school. In 1934, he moved to Billings and went to work for the Elliot Seed Company. He later worked for Consolidated Freightway, retiring in 1963.
Laurin Married Dorothy McMichael in 1935. She preceded him in death in 1990.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mountview cemetery.

Mary Ellen Grant
THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. - Mary Ellen Grant, 97, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, at Canyon Hills Manor.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday Dec. 20, at Mortimore Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Monument Hill cemetery. Mortimore Funeral Home is in charge.
John Alfred Lindell
In the early morning hours on Dec. 15, 1999, John Alfred Lindell rejoined his wife in eternity. John was born on May 19, 1919, at the family homestead in Myers, Mont. near Hysham. John was born the ninth child and fourth son to Walter Bernhard and Cora Sherman Lindell, He was named after his grandfather, Johan Alfred Lindell, who came from Sweden as a small child.
John left home as a young man and joined the CCC under the Roosevelt Administration. In 1941, he joined the United States Army. While defending his country, he survived the attack of Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. He was a heroic soldier and was awarded several medals including the Metal of Valor at Guadalcanal, the Meritorious Service Medal for the South Pacific Campaign, the Presidential Unit Citation, and two Bronze Star Metals with two oak leaf clusters
After John's return from the war, he met and married
LaVerne Myrtle Fenner on Sept. 7, 1946. in Columbus. John and LaVerne lived in Sheyboygan Falls, Wis. where they started their family. It is here that they had Leslie, Larry, Rodney, and Johnnie. In 1953, they moved to Billings, where they were blessed with two more sons, David and Lonnie. While in Billings, John worked as a carpenter retiring in 1977. After this time, he owned and operated Lindell Saw Sharpening Service.
John was an accomplished carpenter and dedicated father and grandfather. With only a third grade education he worked hard to raise his six sons. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, but he disliked the taste of fish. In his golden years he and LaVerne enjoyed traveling all of the United States,
John was preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne, and two grandchildren, Chason Lindell and Trevor Lindell. All of his siblings preceded him in death except Clarence Lindell of Texas and Cora Laber of Billings. His sons, their wives and numerous grandchildren will miss him dearly.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service with military honors will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. l8, at Mountview cemetery. A memorial reception will follow at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Billings Seventh Day Adventist Church, 32nd St. W. and Broadwater Ave. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.
Walter Godron Henneford
Walter Gordon Henneford, 97, passed away from natural causes on Dec. 14, 1999, in Western Manor Nursing Home in Billings, Mont.
Walter was born on Jan. 10, 1902, in Decator, Ind. In 1912, he and his family moved to Carter, Mont., and it was here that he completed his high school education. On July 21, 1930, he married
Hazel. In 1938, they moved to Fairfield with their two sons, where they owned and operated a variety store and electrical shop. In 1947, the family moved to Choteau where they continued in the variety and electrical business until their retirement in 1964. Love of travel in their motor home allowed them many years of mutual pleasure, enjoying winters in Arizona and their summers in Montana.
Walter was preceded in death by Hazel in 1996. He is survived by his two sons, Jack and his wife, Nancy, of Great Falls, and Gene and his wife, Jan, of Billings, six grandchildren and 1 3 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m at the First Presbyterian Church in Great Falls on Jan. 15, 2000. Cremation took place at Cremation or Funeral Gallery.
Memorials, for those who choose to do so, may be sent to the charity of ones choice.
Hannah D. Mahlstedt
GLENDIVE - Hannah D. Mahlstedt, 98, died on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at the Glendive Medical Center Extended Care Facility in Glendive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 1999, at the First Lutheran Church in Circle. Interment will be in the Riverview cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is in charge.
Belva L. Nichols
Belva L. Nichols, 94 of Billings, passed away Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at Western Manor Health Care Center. She was born in Greeley, Colo. on July 26, 1905, the daughter of Louis and Bertha (New) Smith.
Belva was raised and educated in Gillette, Wyo. She worked as a waitress for many years in Gillette, Miles City, and in Washington and California, before settling in Billings in the early 1960s.
In Billings, she operated a home for elderly women out of her own home.
She enjoyed needle work. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ronald and Ralph Young.
Survivors include her son, Charles (Joyce) Young of Billings; her daughter, Bertha Louise York of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; nine grandchildren, and several great and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will begin 1 p.m. Saturday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20 at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Dickerson Regan
JUNEAU, Alaska - Longtime Juneau resident Dickerson Regan, 71, died at his home Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, of cancer.
Mr. Regan was born March 25, 1928, in Helena, Mont., to Thomas Patrick Regan and Agnes Dickerson Regan. He was a graduate of Helena public schools and the University of Montana in Missoula, where he also received his law degree. During his undergraduate years, he was a member of the university track team and Phi Delta Theta fraternity.
Mr. Regan is survived by his wife, Judith, of Juneau; two sons, Mark Regan of Juneau, and Matthew Regan and his wife, Suzanne, and their son, Patrick, of Anchorage, Alaska. He was married
to Virginia Whitehead, now Virginia Breeze, from 1958 to 1969.
In addition, he is survived by stepdaughter, Cassie McCasland and grandsons Austin and Conner, of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; stepdaughter, Shelly Jacobson of Fairbanks, Alaska; stepdaughter, Micaela Bickford and grandson, Jacob, of Eagle River, Alaska; and stepson, Robert Jones and grandson, Oscar, of Douglas, Alaska.
His four siblings survive him. They are Thomas Patrick Regan Jr. of Billings, Mont.; Margaret Regan Gans of San Francisco, Calif., and Helena, Mont.; Ethel Regan Palmer of Ridgefield, Conn.; and Agnes Regan Perkins of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Nakomis, Fla. Additional survivors include 12 nieces and nephews and their children.

LIVINGSTON - Myrtle E. Scharf, 91, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at Livingston Memorial Hospital.
Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory. A processional of friends and family will leave at 10:45 a.m. from Franzen-Davis Funeral Home at 118 North 3rd Street.Graveside committal services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at Park View Gardens cemetery south of Livingston.

ASHLAND - Raymond Vincent Schonenbach, 80, died on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at his home.
A rosary will be held at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 19, at the St. Labre Mission in Ashland. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at the St. Labre Mission. DAYTON - Mary Ann Smith, 67, died on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999, at Billings Deaconess Hospital.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, at Kane Funeral Home. Private interment will be held at a later date in the Dayton cemetery.
Wanda Lorraine Skeel
GLENROCK, Wyo. - Wanda Lorraine Skeel, 67, formerly of Broadus, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at her home.

Donald Stensland
GLASGOW - Donald Stensland, 72, died Sunday, Dec. 12, 1999, of heart failure at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at Bell Chapel in Glasgow. Interment will be in Highland cemetery. Bell Mortuary is in charge.
Lycurgus R. 'Kirk' Stovall
BIG TIMBER - Lycurgus Robert "Kirk" Stovall, 81, of Big Timber and former longtime Livingston resident, died Tuesday evening, Dec. 14, 1999, at the Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is planned for a later date followed by burial of the cremains in the Veteran's section of Mountain View cemetery. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Livingston is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stovall was born Oct. 1, 1917, in Musselshell County, the son of Lycurgus M. and Mary Elizabeth (Bowles) Stovall. Kirk received his education in the Musselshell schools and graduated from Musselshell High School with the class of 1933. Following his graduation he was employed on ranches in the Musselshell area and later in the Madison Valley. During World War II, he served as a pilot with the 449th Bomb Group with the 15th Air Force in the Italian Theater of operations. Following his discharge in 1945 he was employed as a commercial pilot for a few years.
On Nov. 6, 1954, he was married
to Dorothy Mackley in Livingston. Following their marriage they were both employed during the summers in Yellowstone Park, Dorothy as a nurse and Kirk in maintenance.
Kirk has made his home in Livingston since their marriage and was self employed as a carpenter. He retired in 1990. He has been a guest in the Pioneer Medical Center in Big Timber since September 1998.
He was a member of the Carpenters Union.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of the family home in Livingston; a sister, Alberta Dowdy of Barstow, Calif.; a brother, Jess Stovall of West Yellowstone, and several nieces and nephews.
Jesse McNiven 'Mac' Taggart
CODY, Wyo. - Jesse McNiven "Mac" Taggart, 79, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, at West Park Hospital.
The casket will be open from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at the church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Cody Stake Center. Ballard Funeral Home is in charge.
Joe D. Taylor
TAHLEQUAH, Okla.: Joe D. Taylor, 67 years of age, passed away at the Oklahoma Veteran's Center in Talabina, Okla., Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, after a long bout with Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Rush Springs, Okla., April 1, 1932.
A former U.S. Marine, he served as a legal attache for the Commander of the Third Marine Division during the Korean conflict. He later attended the University of Wyoming, and Casper College. In 1966, Taylor moved his family to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, where he became a founder and served on the board of directors of Canada's first wholly owned public insurance company. The friends he made he retained throughout his life. He was an avid traveler, outdoors man and enjoyed gourmet cooking, and the study of history, politics, and philosophy. He retired to his seaside home in Puerto Nuevo, Baja Mexico in 1995.
He is preceded in passing by his mother, Arnita "Mary" Cook of Casper, Wyo. and his father, P. T. Taylor of Amarillo, Texas. He was a loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife, June Taylor, of Tahlequah, four children, one son and three daughters, Jody Taylor of Minneapolis, Minn.; Bruce Taylor of San Diego, Calif.; Fawn Clark of Seattle, Wash.; April Lee Barboza of Prince George, Vir.; 11 grandchildren, two sisters; Mamie Lou Taylor of Casper, Wyo., and Mary Cribbs, of Amarillo, Texas.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Dec. 18, 1999, at Reed-Culver Funeral Home, 117 West Delaware, Tahlequah, Okla. An Irish wake will follow at Ford's Alley, 116 West Keetoowah, Tahlequah, Okla.
Beulah Verhasselt
COLUMBUS - Beulah Verhasselt passed away on Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at Beartooth Manor in Columbus. Mrs. Verhasselt had lived for 96 years.
Beulah was born in Anderson, Miss. on Aug. 21, 1903, one of six children born to Thomas and Lula (Schmidt) Hamilton. The family moved to Billings where she attended school and graduated from Billings High School in 1924. She continued her education at Billings Normal School, graduating with a teaching certificate and teaching on the Huntley Project for three years, the last year being at the Bundy School.
On March 24, 1928, Beulah married
Donald A. Bundy and together they started their family at Nibbe. They later moved to Warden where she worked as an operator for the Project Telephone Company for 15 years before moving to Huntley and later on to Billings. Mr. Bundy passed away on March 26, 1965.
On Nov. 14, 1972, Beulah married
Fred Bent in Huntley. Mr. Bent passed away on March 18, 1974. Sixteen years later, at the age of 86, she married
Edward Verhasselt on Aug. 30, 1990, in Billings, spending the next four months together before his death on Jan. 14, 1991. Beulah loved gardening and was a longtime member of many of the Rebekah's Lodges in the area. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Huntley and the Lockwood Evangelical Church in Billings.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Weinfurter of Columbus and Geraldine Kimpton of Townsend; a son, Donald H. (Shirley) Bundy of Hobbs, N. M.; three stepchildren, Wallace Bent of Gardner, Lorna McKenney of Billings and William C. Roberts of Frannie, Wyo; nine grandchildren, Jackie (Jon) Klasna of Laurel, Donald J. (Vicky) Lechner of Frenchtown, Kelly (John) Swenson of Kalispell, Ronald (Laura) Lechner of Smoot, Wyo., Robert Kimpton of Billings, Brian (Jackie) Kimpton of Toston, John (Wendy) Kimpton of Springfield, Ore., Treva (Fred) Lind of Gardnervile, Nev. and Donna Stokes of Phoenix, Ariz.; 33 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitations will begin Friday afternoon at the Smith Downtown Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Smith Downtown Chapel with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
