Harold Oscar Eliasson
ROUNDUP - The Lord welcomed a gentle and loved man into heaven Monday, Dec. 27. Harold Oscar Eliasson, 76, passed away after a battle with Alzheimer's disease. Harold was born a cowboy in Roundup on April 19, 1923, to Ben and Gertie Eliasson. He had a love for the land and a passion for ranching. He was hardly ever seen without his cowboy boots and hat.
He spent his entire life in Musselshell County where he found his wife and fulfilled his desire for ranching.
He married
Doris Beadle in 1946 in Lewistown and started ranching north of Roundup that year. They started their family in 1949 with the first of their three sons. In 1963 they moved to the Lindstrand ranch west of Roundup where the new Eliasson ranch was born. They also had a ranch northwest of Roundup, which was Harold's pride and joy.
An active member of the community, Harold participated in Lake Mason Grazing Association, Roundup Memorial Hospital Board, ASCS Board, Zion Lutheran Church Council and Musselshell Valley Stockgrowers. He made many friends and left great impressions on those he met during his involvement and throughout his life.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Bernard, Stanley and Fred. He is survived by his wife, Doris of 53 years; brother, Carl and wife, Evelyn; sister, Emelie Jensvold and husband, Alvin; brother-in-law, Bud Beadle and wife, Mary Lou; sisters-in-law, Viola Eliasson and Ivy Eliasson; sons, Jay and wife, Sharon; Don; Gary and wife, Phyllis; five grandchildren, Jamie, Cassie, Eric, Reba and Jessica; and great-granddaughter Morgan.
Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Wier Funeral Chapel. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Zion Lutheran Church. Memorials may be made to Roundup Memorial Hospital or the charity of one's choice.
We will always remember Dad's clear blue eyes, the color of the sky, from where he now looks down upon us.
Alma Holmes Cunningham
FORSYTH - Alma Holmes Cunningham, 86, of Forsyth, died Saturday Dec. 25, 1999, at the Rosebud Health Care Center in Forsyth.
Alma was born Dec. 24, 1913, in Ravana, Mo., the daughter of Benjamin and Hannah Hilton Callen. She spent her youth and attended schools in Ravana.
In 1932, Alma married
Fred Holmes in Ravana. They moved to the Cartersville area in 1934 where they farmed until 1973 when Fred died. In 1974, Alma married
Ted Cunningham in Forsyth. They lived in Hysham for a few years before moving back to Forsyth, where Alma has lived since.
Alma was a member of the Forsyth Presbyterian Church, the Rebecca Lodge at Rosebud, and the Sand Creek Homemakers Club. She enjoyed doing crafts and bowling, especially with her husband Ted.
She is survived by her son, Dean Holmes and wife, Rose of Clyde Park; her daughter, Janet Vassau and husband, Joe of Forsyth; nine grandchildren, Debbie Rice, Sheri Stroppel, Mark Holmes, Dena Dockter, Arthur Holmes, Thomas Holmes, Howard Vassau, Arnold Vassau, and Joe Vassau; eight great-grandchildren. Alma was preceded in death by her husbands, Fred Holmes and Ted Cunningham, and her son, Ernest.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday Dec. 30, 1999, at the Beals Mortuary Chapel in Forsyth. Interment will follow in the family lots at the Forsyth cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's own choice. Beals Mortuary of Forsyth is assisting the family with these arrangements.
Martha Elizabeth Weaver
MESA, Ariz. - Martha Elizabeth Weaver, affectionately known as Bessie, passed away on Christmas Eve 1999, at her home in Mesa.
She was born in Cody, Wyo., on Dec. 30, 1924, to Frank T. Ives and Corabelle Maxwell. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Don, and their nine children, Timothy J., Val Joe, Douglas, Don Paul, David, Trudy Beth, Julie Ann, Susan, and Mark along with 33 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Everett Bradford, Helen Harrison, and Frank T. Ives. She was preceded in death by a sister, Constance Elledge.
Of all of her service to others, most remembered was her frequent delivery of home-baked bread to those in her neighborhood as well as time spent visiting those in need of comfort and association. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints, she lived daily the principles of love and charity.
Viewing will be held at the Meldrum Mortuary, Mesa, Ariz., from 8-8 p.m. Dec. 29, 1999, and services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Jan. 3, 2000, at the Cowley Ward Chapel, Cowley, Wyo. Grave dedication and interment will be at the Deaver cemetery immediately following. Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell, Wyo., will be in charge of the services.
Ronald Howard 'Ron' Olson
WINNETT - Ronald Howard "Ron" Olson, 58, of Winnett died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, at his home due to cancer.
Ron was born Oct. 17, 1941, at Clearbrook, Minn., to Howard and Ruth (Erickson) Olson. He received his education in Clearbrook, Minn. On July 23, 1962, he was united. in marriage to Lurene A. Solf in Winnett.
When he first came to Montana, he did telephone construction and worked on several different ranches. He owned and operated Olson's Grocery Store and Meat Market in Winnett for 26 years and was a school bus driver for several years. He served as Petroleum County fire chief for 25 years. He was a member of the Winnett Jaycees and a member of the Lewistown Moose and Eagles Clubs. He also was an ambulance driver for several years.
Ron enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also volunteered his time to do fund raising activities. In addition, he enjoyed developing recipes for specialty meats and building his cattle herd.
Survivors include his wife, Lurene of Winnett; his mother, Ruth Hanson of Clearbrook, Minn.; his stepmother, Ione Olson of Bagley, Minn.; four daughters: Donna (Lloyd) McKenna of Lewistown, Mont.; Carol Olson of Winnett; Teri (Kenneth) Smith of Three Forks, Mont.; Marcia (Dave) Jackson of Lewistown; and two sons: Edwin R. Olson and Bradley H. Olson both of Winnett. Also surviving are sisters, Janice (Frank) Svalen of McIntosh, Minn.; Eloise Johnson of Minneapolis, Minn.; Elaine Mrazek of Bemidji; Minn.; Mary (Gene) Pond of Leonard, Minn.; and half-sister, Kathy Black; and brothers: Rodney Olson of Clearbrook Minn.; Jerry Olson of Shevlin, Minn.; half-brothers, James Olson of Wheaton, Minn.; and Gary Olson of Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Kendall and Anna Smith, and Lauren Olson. In addition, he is survived by several uncles, aunts, and numerous nieces and nephews. We love you dad, always!
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Krist and Carrie Olson, and his maternal grandparents, Charles and Amilia Erickson; his father, Howard Olson, and his stepfather, Edwin Hanson. Funeral Liturgy for Ron Olson will be held at the Winnett High School gymnasium on Thursday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Winnett cemetery.
A Vigil service will be held at Creel Funeral Home in Lewistown on Wednesday evening, Dec. 29, at 7 p.m.
Family and friends may make memorials to the Winnett Volunteer Fire Department or to the charity of donor's choice.

Elliott 'Eli' Johnson
PORTLAND, Ore. - Elliott "Eli" Johnson died Nov. 12, 1999, at age 88. Born Oct. 14, 1911, in Worden, Mont., he married
Nyra Fredricks in 1939. Mr. Johnson moved to Portland in 1960. While in Billings, he was co-owner of C&J Parts Service. Interment will be in Pleasantview cemetery in Ballantine.
Glen Edward Luderman
Glen Edward Luderman, longtime Billings resident, died peacefully Monday morning, Dec. 27, 1999, in St. Vincent Hospital surrounded by his cherished family and friends. He had thoroughly enjoyed his 85 wonderful years of life.
Glen was born July 8, 1914, in Woodside, Mont., the eldest of five children born to Fred and May Luderman. He attended various grade schools in Missoula and Butte, completing his primary education at the Broadwater School in Billings. Glen then attended Billings Senior High School.
Glen was united in marriage to Anna M. Diebert on Oct. 5, 1940, at St. Patrick's Parish in Billings. Three children were born to this sacred union: Jerry, Vernon, and Beverly. Glen and Ann recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
Glen enlisted with the U.S. Navy in April 1945, and was stationed on the island of Guam. He reached the rank of Seaman First Class before being honorably discharged in March 1946. Upon discharge, Glen promptly returned to his young family in Billings. Before enlisting, Glen had worked as a roguing crew foreman with the Sioux City Seed Co. in Billings and Bridger and as a field gager for the Ohio Oil Pipeline in Elk Basin, Wyo. Upon returning home, he subsequently worked for the Moes Seed Co. and then the Billings City Street Department.
Glen capped his professional career as head groundskeeper at Eastern Montana College, serving in this capacity for nearly 20 years. He retired from EMC in 1976. Glen's affiliations include: the Nurseryman's Association (past president); the Billings Gem & Mineral Club; and the Billings Boat Club. In addition, Glen was a very enthusiastic and active member of Holy Rosary Parish.
Glen was a true outdoorsman. He loved being surrounded by nature while fishing, camping, hunting, and traveling to destinations across the continent. Glen spent countless days each summer working in his immaculate lawn and garden. Glen was also a bonefide "rock hound, " with a special affection for hunting, cutting, and polishing agates. Also, Glen loved to play the harmonica, sing, tell jokes, and entertain others. In all things, however, Glen's family came first. He truly cherished his large extended family and would do anything in his power to come to their aid or bring them happiness.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his beloved wife and friend, Ann, of the family home. Survivors include two sons, Jerry Luderman and wife, Betty of Whitefish and daughters, Shanaley (Bruce) Galts and Gina (Roger) Schiff; and Vernon Luderman and wife, Edna of Shepherd and sons, Kevin (Susan), Kent (Cheryl), and Kelly, and daughter Kari (Dion) Nebel; and one daughter, Beverly Ann Allison and husband, Charles of Billings and daughter Amy (R.J.) Yates. Glen is also survived by six great-grandchildren whom he dearly loved: Tyler & Larissa Schiff, Brian Galts; Brooke & Chad Nebel; and Kayla Avens. In addition, Glen is survived by his four siblings: Wally (Eloise) Luderman of Bountiful, Utah; Louise Stadtfelt (Bill Fenex) of Greybull, Wyo.; Wilma (George) Cain of Apple Valley, Calif.; and Dorothy (Harold) Busch of Casey, Ill. Glen was also especially close to Ann's brothers and sisters, survivors which include Katherine Beer, Carol (Jack) Cooney, Maggie (Bill) Jacobs, and Leo Diebert.
Vigil services will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at Holy Rosary Parish. Rite of Committal with military honors will follow in Holy Cross cemetery. Memorials may be given to Holy Rosary Parish or the charity of choice.
Everett S. Holliday
ABSAROKEE - Everett S. Holliday, 84, of Absarokee, passed away Saturday Dec. 25, 1999. He was a son of Sanford and Christina Holliday, born Oct. 29, 1915, 11 miles west of Martinsdale in a log cabin on the North Fork of the Musselshell. He attended the country Delpine School and later graduated from Park County High School in Livingston where Everett enjoyed playing basketball and football.
Everett ranched 11 miles west of Martinsdale with his parents and his brother Byron in a family partnership.
He married
Halgert Heriem Sept. 30, 1939, at Livingston and the couple had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
He enjoyed working with cattle, hunting and camping.
Survivors include his wife Halgert of Absarokee; two daughters, Linda Labrie of La Canada, Calif., and Donna Shupak of Columbus; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Byron Holliday of Columbus.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Grace Fellowship Church in Absarokee. Interment will be in the Mountainview cemetery. Smith Funeral Chapel-Columbus was in charge of arrangements.
Dorothy Elizabeth Highsmith
LOVELL, Wyo. - Dorothy Elizabeth Highsmith, 82, of Lovell, died Dec. 28, 1999, in Red Lodge, Mont. She had been staying with her daughter Sherry Davidson in Joliet, Mont., since her illness.
She was born Oct. 8, 1917, on the family farm, ten miles east of Edgar, the daughter of Robert and Dora (Campbell) Garst. She attended school in the early years at a rural school established in 1924 by her father and a neighbor (Homer Keebler). She finished her schooling in Fromberg, graduating from Fromberg High in 1935.
Dorothy married
Joel Thomas Highsmith on Jan. 12, 1936, in Billings. She followed her husband from Montana, to California, Alaska, back to Edgar, Mont., and Shoshoni, Wyo., and finally Lovell.
Her husband Joe bought her the Shoshone Motel at an auction in 1967. She operated the motel until 1976, when they moved to Lovell. She operated the motel while raising three of the five children that were still at home and was proud of how well the motel did during that period that she operated it.
In Lovell, she spent many hours with her flowers and her yard, and she took great pride in them.
Survivors include four daughters; Sherry Davidson and husband David of Joliet; Roberta Keith and husband Darrel of Sequim, Wash.; Marie Borders of Gallup, N.M.; Dee Anna Leonhardt of Lakewood, Colo.; one son Joel Thomas Highsmith Jr. and wife Kathy of Riverton; two sisters Marjorie Gibble of Edgar; Gladys Casperson of Grantsville, Utah; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe in 1984, her parents and one sister Fern Cook of California.
Dorothy will be remembered by family and friends as a devoted and caring wife, mother and grandmother. She was loved dearly by them all.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel. Interment will be at the Rockvale cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5-9 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Lovell Fire Department or charity of one's choice.
Elizabeth M. Tremblay
MALTA - Elizabeth M. (Betty) Tremblay, 74, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, at the Phillips County Good Samaritan Center of natural causes. Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, at the Malta cemetery. Cremation has taken place.

LIVINGSTON - Mary Montana Brown, 100, life long Park County resident died Monday afternoon Dec. 27, 1999, at the Livingston Health and Rehab Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, in the chapel of the Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston. Graveside committal servers and burial will follow in the Clyde Park cemetery at Clyde Park.

GLENDIVE - Fred F. Wenz, 78, of Glendive, died on Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at the Glendive Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at the Evangelical Church of North America with Pastor Allen Solheim officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Dawson County cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.

UCROSS, Wyo. - Services for Chuck Poston, a 58-year-old Ucross man who passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 26, 1999, at his home in Ucross, will be held Thursday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. at the Johnson County Fairground in Buffalo. Friends may, if they wish, donate to the Animal Shelter in care of the Adams Funeral Home which is in charge of all arrangements.

SIDNEY - Leslie Cisna, 62, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at the Sidney Health Center-Extended Care Facility.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Dec. 31, at the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Daniel Paulson, of Arnegard, N.D. Interment will be in the Richland Memorial Park, Sidney. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney was in charge of arrangements.
Nancy Jane Coppock
LIVINGSTON - Nancy Coppock, 73, of Green Valley, Ariz., died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Cremation has taken place at the Franzen-Davis Crematory. Memorial services will be held on Monday, Jan. 3, at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Billings, and held on Thursday, Jan. 6, at the Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley.
