Lewis A. Tegland
CODY, Wyo. - Lewis A. Tegland passed away on Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, from complications associated with Parkinson's disease. He was 84 and a longtime resident of Cody.
Mr. Tegland was born in 1914 in Windom, Minn., where he lived until enlisting in the military prior to World War II. During the war he served as a captain in the United States Army in Kodiak, Alaska. During the latter part of the war he also served in combat in France and Germany.
Mr. Tegland married
his wife, Rhoda Bennett, in 1944. After the war they moved to Alexandria, Minn., where they owned and operated a successful gas and appliance company, and later a sporting goods store. He and Rhoda raised a son, Karl, and a daughter, Karen, in Minnesota.
The Teglands moved to Cody in 1967 where Mr. Tegland was employed for many years by the Shoshone First National Bank. Mr. Tegland was very active in civic activities, serving as the president of the Cody Chamber of Commerce, and for many years as a member of the Stampede Board.
In retirement, the Teglands continued to maintain a residence in Cody, but spent several winters in Rockport, Texas, and summers near Crandall.
Mr. Tegland was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoying both pursuits in Minnesota and, later, in Wyoming. He also enjoyed photography as a hobby and printed his photographs in his own darkroom for several decades. His many photo albums documenting family history and pastimes are treasured by his family.
Mr. Tegland is survived by his wife, Rhoda Tegland of Cody; his brother, Vernon Tegland of Phoenix; his sister, Hazel Glasgow of St. Paul, Minn.; his sister, Beaty Reese of Salem, Ore.; his daughter, Karen Beckerley of Billings; and his son, Karl Tegland of Bothell, Wash. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Buck and Malinda Bradford of Billings, and Thomas and Robert Tegland of Bothell.
Memorial services for Mr. Tegland will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody with interment of cremains to follow in Riverside cemetery.
Lowell L. Thomas
MEETEETSE, Wyo. - Lowell L. Thomas, 79, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at his home.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Ballard Funeral Home of Cody is in charge.
George I. Sears
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - George I. Sears, 78, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Viewing and visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Ferries Funeral Home with cremation to follow.
Roy W. Hodge
MESA, Ariz. - Roy W. Hodge, 86, passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, in Mesa.
A Memorial Service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at Gilbert Presbyterian Church, 235 E. Guadalupe, Gilbert, AZ 85234.
Roy was born in Great Falls, Mont., where he married
Helen Sarbo at the Great Falls Presbyterian Church in 1946. He had lived in Arizona for 18 years and was employed as a furniture and floor covering salesman. He served in the Navy in World War II.
Roy was a 32nd degree Mason at Rimrock Lodge, Billings, Mont.; a member of the El Zaribah Shrine Temple in Phoenix; and a 70-year DeMolay member, charter member of Loyality Chapter, Billings. He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Billings for 35 years.
Survivors include his wife, Helen M. Hodge of Mesa; sons, Glenn R. Hodge and William D. Hodge; sisters, Doris Bilant and Gladys Walker; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Bunker's Colonial Chapel of Mesa is in charge of arrangements.
Faith Nicole Ostermiller
Faith Nicole Ostermiller, infant daughter of Eldon and Brenda Ostermiller of Billings, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at St. Vincent Hospital.
She is survived by her parents; her brother, Josh, and sister, Whittney of the family home; her maternal grandparents, Harold and Esther Hemming of Billings; her paternal grandfather, Harvey Ostermiller (Claudia) of Billings; her paternal grandmother, Sandra Ostermiller of Billings; her maternal great-grandmother, Lillian Shafer of Bismarck, N.D.; paternal great-grandparents, Eldon and Martha Piper of Billings; paternal great-grandmother, Marie Ostermiller of Billings; and her aunts and uncles, Rick and Deb Hemming and family, Tracy and Jamie Ostermiller and family, and Brian and Stacey Hemming, all of Billings.
Graveside services were held Friday, Sept. 3, at Yellowstone Valley Memorial Park, 3605 Grand Ave. Memorials may be directed to the Faith Nicole Ostermiller Fund, c/o Norwest Bank, 175 N. 27th, Billings, MT 59101. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.
Edith K. Johnson
POWELL, Wyo. - Edith K. Johnson passed away at her home in Powell on Aug. 30, 1999. She was 79.
Edith vas born Oct. 17, 1919, in Powell, to Anna and August Beckmann. She resided on the Beckmann homestead north of Powell all her life.
On Dec. 23, 1945, she married
Hubert P. Johnson and the couple engaged in farming in the Powell valley for a number of years. Edith was later employed at E. H. Walrath and Sons Elevator in Powell for over 25 years. During this time, she made many area farmers her lifelong friends. Edith enjoyed many hobby crafts and took pride in maintaining a beautiful yard at her home.
Survivors include: sons, Ron and his wife, JoAnn of Henry, Neb., Dean and his wife, Melissa of Cody, Gordon and his wife, Cheri of Rock Springs; and daughter, Betty Anne and her husband, Kim Sellergren of Richmond, Va. There are nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, August. Memorial services will be held at the Park County Fairgrounds in Powell at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, with Vernon Joyce and Jay Reynolds officiating. Graveside services follow with burial at Crown Hill cemetery. A carry-in luncheon is planned at the fairgrounds after graveside services. Visitation will be at the fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Miratsky Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Delmer Duane Rook
Delmer Duane Rook, 59, of Billings, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at St. Vincent Hospital.
A memorial service is pending in Harlowton. Cremation or Funeral Gallery is in charge.
William 'Corky' Corcoran
ROCKY BOY - William L. "Corky" Corcoran, Indian name Working Man, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 1999, at the Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes.
The wake will begin at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church and the Rosary service will be at 8 p.m. at the church. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at the church with interment in the Rocky Boy cemetery. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge.

Maximino Adame
POMPEYS PILLAR - Maximino Adame, 76, of Pompeys Pillar, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at the Deaconess Medical Center.
He was born July 28, 1923, in Juan Alduma, Zacutecus, Mexico, the son of Eluterio Adams and Golla Adame. He moved to Texas from Mexico and worked as a farm laborer and eventually came to Montana where he has lived until the present time.
Survivors include two sons, Arturo of Pompeys Pillar, Domingo of Tularosa, N.M.; two daughters, Felipa Adame and Micaela Adame of Tularosa; several grandchildren, three sisters and two brothers in Mexico.
Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept 7, at the St. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Ballantine. Interment will be in the Pleasantview cemetery in Ballantine. Smith Downtown Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Marie L. Mills
WORLAND, Wyo. - Marie L. Mills, 102, formerly of Basin, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, at Community Care.
Visitation will be 7-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, at Bryant Funeral Home in Worland and 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at the First Baptist Church in Basin. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church with interment in Mount View cemetery in Basin.
Aili Irene Lyytinen
RED LODGE - Aili Irene Lyytinen, 82, a lifelong Red Lodge area resident, died early Thursday morning, Sept. 2, 1999, in Billings Deaconess Medical Center.
She was born on Feb. 26, 1917, on the family farm near Roberts, a daughter of Leander and Hilma Hertin. Her twin sister, Aino, died in infancy. Aili was raised on the farm and attended Cottonwood and Fox Schools.
On July 5, 1935, she married
Eric Lyytinen in Cody, Wyo. They farmed and raised their family on Willow Creek, and in 1964 they moved into Red Lodge. Mr. Lyytinen died on July 20, 1971. For the past eight years Aili had resided in Beartooth Nursing Home.
Mrs. Lyytinen enjoyed sewing and homemaking, and was known for her excellent Finn bread and Finn cheese.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Arne, Werner and Severi Hertin.
Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Marvin (Kaye) Lyytinen of Laurel, Larry (Connie) Lyytinen of Billings, Darlene (Ronald) Luoma of Red Lodge, and Shirley (Jerry) Michael of Huntley; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, in Olcott Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the Red Lodge cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Beartooth Nursing Home, Box 590, Red Lodge MT 59068.
Della R. (Wilson) Parmely
Della R. (Wilson) Parmely died on Aug. 31, 1999, at Evergreen Laurel Care Center where she had been a resident for about four-and-a-half years. Della was born Aug. 18, 1911, in Denver to Albert R. Winchester and Della May (Bowers) Winchester.
She moved to Montana with her parents and siblings in 1913 to Pompeys Pillar and they homesteaded north of there. In 1918 they moved to Billings where Della went to school until 1921. They moved to Washington and California, then in 1923 they moved back to Nibbe where her father started a blacksmith shop and Della finished school at Guarnsey.
Della married
Joe Lloyd Wilson, Jan. 8, 1929, and to that union three daughters were born. They lived at Nibbe and then north of Pompeys Pillar until 1943 when they moved to Hysham. Joe died May 2, 1967, and Della kept busy with her grandchildren and her hobbies, especially raising flowers. Della loved music and loved to dance and continued to dance after she entered Evergreen Laurel Care Center. She moved to Billings in 1970 and to Shepherd in 1972. She married
Donald E. Parmely, Oct. 8, 1977, and he died Oct. 6, 1994. She was preceded in death by four sisters: Ruth Runkle, Mabel Morris, Clara Luthwood, Mary Curtis, and three brothers: Ray Winchester, Melvin Winchester and Ralph Winchester; one daughter, Betty McHenry Roberts; and one grandson, Michael Welch.
Della is survived by two daughters: Shirley (Lloyd) Welch of Billings and Pattie I. Williams of Hysham; six grandsons, five granddaughters, 21 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert R. Winchester of Moses Lake, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Evergreen Laurel Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Smith Downtown Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Evergreen Laurel Care Center.
Edith K. Johnson
POWELL, Wyo. - Edith K. Johnson passed away at her home in Powell on Aug. 30, 1999. She was 79.

FORSYTH - Marie Ingram, 95, died Monday, Aug. 31, 1999, at the Rosebud Health Care Center.

LIVINGSTON - Rosamond Phillips McElwee, 88, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 1999, at Livingston Health and Rehab Center.
