Carrie Ann Dahlman, 33

Carrie Ann Dahlman was born at St. James Hospital on March 17, 1976.
Formerly from Anaconda, Carrie left this earth to join the good Lord on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009. Carrie was 33 years old.
Carrie recently returned to Montana after exploring the United States with the love of her life, Randy Street. Carrie was enjoying her time in Montana with her Aunt Theresa in Clancy while getting reacquainted with family and friends.
Carrie enjoyed the outdoors, photography, and writing and enjoyed all that life offered. Ever since Carrie was a young girl, she excelled in everything that she did. Carrie was an accomplished musician, having played the flute since the fourth grade. Carrie also set many state records while attending Anaconda High School in cross country and track. Carrie has given the gift of sight, as her eyes have been donated to someone in need.
Carrie is survived by her parents, father, William, and stepmother, Dorraine Dahlman, and mother, Debbie Basiaga, and stepfather, Rick Basiaga; her grand-parents, Frank and Gertrude VanMeel, Bill and Rennie Dahlman, and Nikki Fetters; her brother, Bryan Kuenzel; and sister, Kristin Basiaga.
Carrie is also survived by the love of her life and life partner, Randy Street, and numerous aunts and uncles: Marvin and Paula VanMeel, Mike and Terri VanMeel, Rick VanMeel, John and Stephanie Dahlman, Duane and Theresa Wock and Mark Rickman. Carrie’s family extended further with numerous cousins and friends.
Carrie was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Fritz and Irene Dahlman, George and Mary Norbeck and Tim Norbeck.

Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same; but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.” — Author Unknown Mass of Christian Burial for Carrie will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Anaconda. Interment will be at 3 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park.
Visitation hours will be held at the Holy Family Catholic Church on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m.

ANGELINA BERTOTTI
RED LODGE — Angelina Bertotti, 101, of Red Lodge, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 24, 2000 at Beartooth Hospital & Health Center in Red Lodge.
Angelina Meaglia Bertotti was born Jan. 16, 1899 in Bosconero, Italy to Giacomo and Maria Bartolomea Meaglia. In 1921 she came to Red Lodge at the invitation of her brother, James Meaglia.
She was married to Antonio Bertotti on April 9, 1921 in Red Lodge. They had a daughter, Mary, who died on June 27, 1937 at the age of 15. Mr. Bertotti died in 1960.
For many years, Angelina worked for the Castagne brothers, cooking and cleaning. In the early 1970s she moved into her own home on South Adams where she lived until just prior to her death. She was a familiar figure in Red Lodge, walking to the post office every day until she was 95. She liked to crochet and kept a small garden at her home.
Survivors include her niece, Mrs. Mary K. Owen of Red Lodge, and niece Emilie Spina of France; grandnephews, C.R. Owen of Red Lodge and James Castagna of Prosser, Wash.; grandnieces, Mrs. Rosella Smith of Livingston and Mrs. Shirley Denny of Townsend, and numerous great-grandnieces and nephews.
Vigil services were held May 25, and funeral mass was celebrated May 26 in St. Agnes Catholic Church in Red Lodge. Rite of committal was held in the family plot in the Red Lodge Cemetery, with Olcott Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be directed to St. Agnes Catholic Church.
JOHN WESSEL
BELFRY — John Wessel, 86, of Belfry, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000 in his home.
Born on Jan. 29, 1914 in Madrid, N.M., he was a son of Leo and Margaret Wessel. He was raised and educated in Red Lodge, and was married to Minnie Kuhn on Jan. 9, 1940 in Cody, Wyo. They resided in Belfry since 1948.
Mr. Wessel was employed by Amoco Oil Co. for 27 years before retiring. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parish of Bridger, the Belfry Senior Citizens and had formerly served on the Belfry Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Ellinor Wessel, Margaret Zanon, Ruth Gary and Bernice Reichert.
Survivors include his wife, Minnie Wessel of Belfry; one daughter, Ruth (Derrek) Flick of Seattle; three grandchildren, Kevin (Brenda) Flick and Renee and Denise Flick, all of Seattle, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vigil services were held Friday, May 26 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bridger. Funeral mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27 in the church. Rite of committal was in the Belfry Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to Beartooth Hospice, Box 590, Red Lodge, MT 59068.

ANDREW A. (ANDY) JAMIESON, JR.
ROBERTS — Andrew A. (Andy) Jamieson, Jr., 66, of Roberts, died Thursday morning, June 8, 2000 in Billings Deaconess Medical Center.
Born in Pueblo, Colo. on August 27, 1933, Andy was a son of Andrew A. and Elizabeth Jamieson. He was raised and educated in Pueblo, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Andy was employed by Asphalt Supply Co. for 33 years, moving to Laurel in 1985. There he met Joyce, and they were married in Lander, Wyo.
They resided in Laurel until February of 1986 when they settled on their ranch at Roberts. Having his own place was a dream come true for Andy, and he enjoyed helping his Roberts neighbors with irrigating and haying. He was a member of the Roberts Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Jamieson of Roberts; one daughter, Kathy (Jim) Autry of Wagon Mound, NM; two step-sons, Ken (Cheri) Hitshew of Rapid City, SD, and Tim (Linda) Hubbard of Gillette, WY; two sisters, Corrine (Mick) Wilson of Pueblo, and Ellen (Walt) Bassett of Beluah, CO; 11 grand-children, 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held June 13 in the Olcott Funeral Chapel in Red Lodge. Cremation has taken place.
Memorials may be given to the Roberts Volunteer Fire Dept., or to the charity of one’s choice.
GUST KNUTTILA
LONG BEACH, Calif.— Gust Knuttila, 91, of Long Beach, Calif., formerly of Red Lodge, passed away early Thursday, June 1, 2000 at a Westminister, Calif., hospital of pneumonia. He was born May 7, 1909 in Clearcreek, Utah to Gust and Hilma Knuttila (Finnish-Swedish immigrants). He was the only son in a family of four children and truly enjoyed being “brother” to his sisters Lou, Lila, and Lillian.
He spent his early years growing up in the Bearcreek, Washoe and Red Lodge areas. He then began his 37 year career working in the coal mines. He was a very hard and dedicated worker. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945. On October 4, 1945 he married Frances Krivitz and they were married 54 years. They raised two children, Karen and Rick. For recreation Gust enjoyed fly fishing on the Rosebud River and camping out. He also worked many summers at Yellowstone National Park, which he loved. He did carpentry, yard work, and was always lending a “helping hand” to others. He was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Red Lodge, the Royal Arch Masons and the American Legion. He retired from coal mining in 1967.
In 1977, Gust and Frances moved to Long Beach to be with their son, Rick. Gust was totally devoted and dedicated to his family and cared deeply. He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church of Cerritos and the Cypress Senior Citizens. Gust enjoyed taking walks and keeping physically fit. He enjoyed watching his favorite TV programs and playing an occasional game of pinochle with his good neighbors and friends. He loved music, barbecues and boxing, and was even known to sing a good song!
Gust was preceded in death by his two sisters, Lou Pasquan and Lila Estey.
Gust is survived by his devoted wife, Frances, his son Richard Knuttila; his daughter, Karen Bjornson and son-in-law, Roy Bjornson; and his only grandson, Brian Bjornson of Helena, MT; his sister, Lillian Miller of Clyde, Ohio and his family (Emmett, Carol and Mike); his brother-in-law, John Krivitz and wife, Marion of Red Lodge and their family (Judy and John Charles); her niece, Thelma Bischoff of Red Lodge; nephew Steve Pahek and his wife, Lenore of Helena. Also, his niece, Lynn Gossett and her husband, Tom of Tigard, Ore.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Cerritos, Calif. on Saturday, June 24, with internment at the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
EDMUND E. ZAN
RED LODGE — Edmund E. Zan, 77, of Red Lodge, died Monday, Sept. 11 in Cedar Wood Villa.
Ed was born on April 24, 1923 in Red Lodge, a son of Joseph and Martha Zan. He was raised and educated in Red Lodge, graduating from Carbon County High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and upon his discharge returned to Red Lodge. He worked for the Montana Employment Service here for two years before beginning his career as a purser for Northwest Orient Airlines. In 1989, he retired to Red Lodge.
While with Northwest Orient Airlines, Ed was based out of Minneapolis, Tokyo, Honolulu and Seattle, but his home was always Red Lodge. He was aboard Northwest Orient’s inaugural flight to the Orient. Ed survived a crash of a DC-& in to the Philippine Sea, and was instrumental in assisting with the re-writing of the ditching procedure for the FAA.
Ed was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and the Beartooth Elks Lodge. He loved people, his travels around the world, and telling a good story. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dominic Zan in 1997.
Survivors include his immediate family, Thomas and Evelyn Halpin of Bozeman; Catherine and Stuart McCullough and their children Colten and Hayley of Helena; Deborah and David Kreitler of North Bend, Wash.; Thomas G. and Donna Halpin of Milwaukie, Ore.; cousin Janice Trythall White, her husband Chuck and her children Jani, Larry Thomas, Carla, Christopher, Joel, Joshua and Jennifer; and cousin Jim Trythall, his wife Linda and their daughter, Jeanette. Also surviving are Ed’s many friends.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 in St. Agnes Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Red Lodge Cemetery. Cremation has taken place with Olcott Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
