Frances Waymire Cook
Frances Waymire Cook, 94, of Billings, passed away July 6, 1999, at St. John's Lutheran Home.
First child of Winfield L. and Mabel Coover Waymire, Frances was born Nov. 14, 1904, in the summer kitchen on the Coover family farm near Dayton, Ohio. She grew up on an adjacent farm and, after graduating from Butler High School, earned a teaching certificate at Miami-Jacobs Business College in Dayton and taught one year at Polk School in rural Dayton.
Frances then moved to Ames, Iowa, to work her way through college at Iowa State University, earning a BS degree in chemistry. While studying for her master's degree in bio-chemistry she met and married
the late Dr. Wendell B. Cook who was pursuing his doctorate in bio-chemistry. Wendell and Frances moved to Storrs, Conn., in 1931 where Wendell became a professor at the University of Connecticut.
An active member of the Storrs Congregational Church, Frances often created floral arrangements for Sunday services using flowers from her garden. Both she and husband Wendell served on the planning and development committee for the church's retirement community at Glen Ridge in Storrs-Mansfield. Frances sewed for the Red Cross during World War I and World War II and was a volunteer for the Office of Price Administration during World War II.
A Cub Scout leader, a member of the Women's Club, Garden Gate Club, and the Mansfield Historical Society, Frances enjoyed many other activities as well including Bridge Club, gardening, nutritional studies, and food preparation and preservation. In 1990, Frances moved to Billings to be near her daughter. Her greatest joy of recent years has been to provide her family with wonderful memories through yearly reunions at Chico Hot Springs.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Wendell B. Cook and her son, Wendell B. Cook Jr., both of whom passed away in 1982; her sister, Miriam Baumgardner and husband, Lee of Brookville, Ohio; and her brother, Stuart Waymire and wife, Nancy of Sidney, Ohio. She is survived by her brother, John C. Waymire and wife, Mary K. of Dayton; her daughter, Barbara C. Arnold and husband, Dr. Edmund R. Arnold of Billings; her son, Dr. John W. Cook of Goshen, N.H.; her grandchildren and their spouses: Steven and Connie Arnold of Lancaster, Calif.; Quin and Jamie Arnold of Woodinville, Wash.; Craig and Sarah Arnold of Long Beach, Calif.; Lianne and David Peterson of Granite Bay, Calif.; Kristin Arnold of Sacramento, Calif.; Jay and Julie Cunningham Cook of Brattleboro, Vt.; Robbin and Rick Cook Bellet of Wayne, Pa.; John and Shannon Absher Cook of Toluca Lake, Calif.; Deanna and Doug Cook McDonald of Northampton, Mass.; Dr. Hillary Cook and husband, Rees Foscoln IV of Northampton; Tobye and Jason Cook Johnson of Arcata, Calif.; Katrina Cook of Ellington, Conn.; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Storrs at a later date. Memorials may be given to St. John's Lutheran Home (Billings, MT), to Storrs Congregational Church (Storrs, Conn.), or to a charity of one's choice.

Carolyn Dietemann
FORSYTH - Carolyn Dietemann, age 55, of Forsyth, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at her home in Forsyth.
Carolyn was born in Terry on Aug. 13, 1943, the daughter of Lorrayne (Smith) Dahn. Her family moved to Bozeman where she attended grade school, and then to Forsyth where she graduated from high school in 1961. Carolyn moved to Billings, where she attended Business College for one year. She then moved to Bozeman and worked as a waitress then returned to Billings where she worked for the Big Boy Restaurant, the Hart-Albin Company and Boots-Brims & Britches. On Feb. 14, 1988, Carolyn and Loren Dietemann were united in marriage at Billings. In 1996 they moved to Forsyth where they retired and have resided ever since. Carolyn was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Forsyth, and she was an original member of the Fi-Hi Musical Group for several years. She loved to shop and travel. Carolyn will be remembered for her bravery with her battle with cancer and her consideration for others.
She is survived by her husband, Loren of Forsyth; her mother, Lorrayne McMullen of Forsyth; a stepson, David Dietemann of Apple Valley, Minn.; two stepdaughters, Donna Freeman of Port St. Lucy, Fla., and Debra Rieter of Spokane, Wash.; an aunt, Rhea Post of Forsyth; four cousins, Arvin Post of Forsyth, Mark Post of Buffalo, N.Y., Steve Post of Johnstown, Pa., and Sam Post of Billings; and two very special friends, Bonnie Prince of Forsyth and Jan Rude of Billings. She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8, 1999, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Friday, July 9, 1999, from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. A Vigil service will be held on Friday, July 9, 1999, at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth with Father Jerry Connolly celebrant. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Forsyth cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Forsyth is in charge of arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to a charity of their choice.
James Peter Evangeline Sr.
Aug. 21, 1902 - July 6, 1999
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - James P. Evangeline Sr., a longtime resident and businessman of Sheridan, quietly passed away at Deaconess Medical Center in Billings on the morning of July 6, 1999.
Jim was born on Aug. 21, 1902, in Plomarion Town on the island of Myteline in Greece. He immigrated to the United States and passed through Ellis Island in 1930, becoming a citizen on May 30, 1930, in his adopted hometown of Sheridan. Jim came from a family of confectioners, and his first job was as a candy maker at the Palace CafÈ. It was here that he met the love of his life, Ludine Zowada. They were married
in Hardin, Mont., on May 10, 1934. Together, they shared many business ventures, with the largest being the building and operation of the J.E. Motel & CafÈ.
Jim was a member of the Knights of Pithias, the Order of A-Hepa, and the Greek Orthodox Church. He was instrumental in forming and building the Greek Orthodox Church in Sheridan. He had a passion for fishing, and he loved spending time fishing with his wife and grandchildren. He also enjoyed taking long drives in the country.
His parents, one brother, three sisters, his wife, one granddaughter, and one great-grandson preceded Jim in death.
His surviving family includes the following: two sons, James P. (Pete) Jr. (Lorraine) and Joseph G. (Virginia); four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren: Cindy Evangeline (Brandy [Chris] Horton and Angela Allen); Mark (Therese) Evangeline (Jason, Ryan and Chelsea); Helen (Dave) Brown (Patrick and Daphne); and Dimitri (Valerie) Evangeline (Shaylene and Nicole).
He also has a niece, Venus (George) Ghekis of Sheridan; a grandniece, Maria (Larry) Herman of Laurel, Mont.; and a nephew, Teddy, and his family living in Greece.
From all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, we would like to add that we will miss our Papooli very, very much.
Trisagion services will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 9, 1999, at the Greek Orthodox Church at 329 Park St., Sheridan. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 10, 1999, at Kane Funeral Home, 689 Meridian St., Sheridan, with the Rev. Peter J. Leventis officiating and Father Tossi assisting. Interment will follow in the Sheridan Municipal cemetery.
Memorials may benefit the Sheridan Dialysis Unit at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan, or the donor's choice in care of Kay Roush, First Federal Savings Bank, P.O. Box 6007, Sheridan, WY 82801-6007.
Dorothy E. Fulbright
COFFEE CREEK - Dorothy E. Fulbright, 70, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at her home of cancer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at the Cloyd Funeral Home Chapel in Lewistown with interment in the Lewistown City cemetery.
Minnie Glasgow
Minnie Glasgow, a loving mother, passed away at St. Vincent Hospital on July 6, 1999. Minnie Glasgow was born in Billings, Dec. 31, 1909, the eldest child of Mary and Jacob Rung. Her parents; brother, Frank Rung; and sister, Isabel Phillips, preceded her in death.
Minnie resided in Billings all her life, graduating from Billings Senior High and Billings Business College. She worked for the City of Billings, attaining the position of Deputy City Treasurer, retiring in 1976.
Minnie's life revolved around family, especially her children who she single--handedly raised; joyfully and unselfishly meeting their every need. Her children's love for her and their gratitude and pride in her accomplishments will forever be in their hearts. They have enormous admiration for her constant optimistic, "forge ahead" attitude, through her years of hard work and sacrifice. Among the numerous goals she attained for her children, was making certain they were educated with the values provided by the Sisters of the Church. Upon retiring, her time was spent tending her flower garden, traveling with her four grandchildren, especially Michelle, with whom she loved to go shopping. As Minnie aged and became dependent, her boys and their families lovingly cared for her until she entered a full-care facility. Her boys, who she had lived for, were by her side until she lived no more.
Minnie is survived by her sons, Bob (Loraye) Glasgow and Gary Glasgow of Billings; grandchildren, Bobby Glasgow of Colorado, Michelle Glasgow, Gary (Rachel) P. Glasgow, and Gregg (Rainey) Glasgow; and great-granddaughter, Kelsie Glasgow, all from Billings. The family wishes to express special thanks to Eunice Ash's Home Care for the Elderly, for their special attention to Minnie, and to the St. Vincent Hospital nurses and attendants, for their care and kindness.
A Rosary and Vigil service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Friday at 9 a.m. Following the funeral, the Rite of Christian Burial will take place at Holy Cross cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Mabel May Ketterling
WORDEN - Mabel May Ketterling, 90, of Worden, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home Sunday, July 4, 1999,
She was born June 21, 1909, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Steve and Musetta (Greeley) Hicks. She was raised north of Miles City near Crow Rock. On Nov. 22, 1930, she married
Adam Ketterling in Crow Rock. To this union 14 children were born.
Mabel loved to embroider, garden and care for her children and grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was to watch the Chicago Cubs baseball teams play.
She worked for several years at the Ballantine Greenhouse, planting and caring for the plants.
Survivors include three sons, Harold of Worden, Steve of Billings, and Adam of Hardin; five daughters, Vi Steiner, Margaret Hice and Geraldine Belless, all of Billings, Leona Samson of Ballantine and Donna Hubbard of Newman Lake, Wash.; 31 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
Mabel was preceded in death by three daughters, Dora Jones, Betty Clark, Florence Ring; three sons, Lawrence Ketterling, Leonard Ketterling and Leroy Ketterling; her husband, Adam Ketterling; and four grandchildren, Robert Ketterling, Myron, Nanette and Michelle Ring.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 8, at the Smith Downtown Chapel. Cremation has taken place.
Hazel I. Keyser
LEWISTOWN - Hazel I. Keyser, 71, died Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at the Central Montana Medical Center because of complications from a stroke.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 12, at the Lewistown City cemetery. Creel Funeral Home is in charge.
Albert Joseph Krieger
Albert Joseph Krieger, age 68, of Billings, passed away suddenly at his home on July 7, 1999. He was born in Medina, N.D., on Dec. 27, 1930, to Gustof and Elizabeth Moser Krieger. In 1938 his family moved to Worden and they lived on the Huntley Project where he received his schooling.
On Aug. 18, 1951, he married
the sweetheart of his dreams, Joyce Joanne Balzer. To this beautiful union four children were born. They farmed in the Worden area for 10 years and later moved to Billings. Al was employed by Associated Foods Store from 1961 to 1993, with his retirement from the company, where he was the transportation supervisor.
Al never really retired. As the saying goes "You can take the boy off the farm, but you can't take the farm out of the boy." Al spent the last six years of his life helping on his daughter and son-in-law's farm in Denton. When he wasn't on the tractor, he was always ready to help out his three boys where help and love were needed.
Al cherished his grandchildren with all his heart. He was always there with love and support for them, whether it be following the boys when they were "fiddling, " or going to the football games, or going to the basketball games, or to any of their school functions.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to all of his family and to others as well.
His greatest joy was spending time with the family, camping, hunting and fishing and most of all laughing and having fun. "Al" always had a joke or funny comment to go with most conversations. Another great joy was playing with his brothers, Johnny and Gideon in the Krieger Brothers Band. They could sit for hours just jamming away. He would listen to different tapes and play along with his bass guitar when his brothers weren't available. Albert is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Eve and Ruth.
Al is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; and his three sons and one daughter, Randell and his wife, Cindy, their three sons, Trevor, Trenton, Troy of Billings; Conley and his wife, Jimmey, their three daughters, Nicole, Karla and Julia of Billings; Steve and his wife, Mary, their three sons, Joshua, Alex, and Jacob of Denton; Kelly and her husband, Randel, their two sons, Tyler, Conner, and daughter, Jenna of Denton.
Albert also had three special nieces, Jennifer Dubois, Shelly Moats, and Darlene La Ferriere; as well as two great-grandchildren, Keisha and Austin, and many other nieces and nephews. Albert was also survived by his brothers, Johnny and his wife, Hilda, Gideon and his wife, Anna, and Albert's sisters as well, Martha and her late husband, George Baum, Ester and her late husband, Alvin Weixel, and Leonna and her husband, George Brazer.
We'll miss you Dad and Grandpa, see you in Heaven.

Services with be held on Saturday, the 10th of July, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Congregational Church at 409 S. 36th St., and proceeding with the burial at Sunset Gardens. Memorials to the Pilgrim Congregational Church.
Elsie Jacober Mai
Elsie Jacober Mai, 94, of Billings, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at St. Vincent Hospital.
Visitation will be 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at the Smith Downtown Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, at the Boelter Funeral Home in Bismarck, N.D., with interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Glen E. Power
HARDIN - Glen E. Power, 73, of Hardin, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 1999, in the Big Horn County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Nov. 27, 1925, in Carnegie, Okla., a son of Harry and Lula Horn Power. He grew up and attended schools in Alfalfa, Okla., and later attended Carnegie Junior College.
Glen enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII, served with the 90th Infantry Division in Europe and was wounded while in France. He returned to the U.S. and received his Honorable Discharge.
He came to Montana as a custom combiner in 1950 and that same year married
Norma Ballensky; they were later divorced. He farmed in the Fort Smith area for 20 years, later moving to Dawson Creek in British Columbia, Canada, in 1964, and returning to Hardin in 1966. Glen also worked as a car salesman for Triangle Motors and Bud Brown's Auto Sales in Hardin and was in charge of the Fort Custer Golf Club Pro Shop for five years. Glen married
Marge Tyler in 1989 and the couple made their home in Hardin.
Glen was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, a past officer of the Alfalfa, Okla., IOOF Lodge and a member since 1946, a charter member of the Hardin Elks Lodge No. 2215 and a member of the Fort Custer Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife, Marge of Hardin; one daughter, Tina Power of Billings; two sons, Matt (Natalie) of Fort Smith and Kevin (Meilan) of Phoenix; one brother, Carroll (Ruby) Power of Oklahoma; one sister, Nelda (Bobby) Kee of Oklahoma. He is also survived by Marge's children, Sharon (Ken) Wobig, Beverly (George) Garcia, Don (Christine) Tyler, Melody (Marvin) Davis and Barb (Tom) Bagunovich; 22 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow in the Fairview cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Big Horn County Historical Museum.
James Rahr
GLENDIVE - James Rahr, 75, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at the Glendive Medical Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with interment in the Dawson Memorial cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home is in charge.
Mollie Salveson Sill
MADELIA, Minn. - Mollie Patricia (Salveson) Sill, daughter of Clarence and Edith (Rogers) Salveson, was born Feb. 12, 1944, in Billings. She died at the age of 55 years on Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at the Madelia Community Hospital.
Mollie was raised in the home of her parents in the Billings and Bridger, Mont., communities where she received her education. She moved to Minnesota when she was united in marriage to Jerry Sill at Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia.
A wife, mother and homemaker, Mollie served as a 4-H leader for many years and was an active member of the Salem Lutheran Church, where she faithfully volunteered her services folding the church bulletins and sang in the choir. Her hobbies and interests included art, computers, photography and the enjoyment of her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry of rural Madelia; three sons, Jim and his wife, Angela of Petersburg, Tenn., Bill of Madelia, and George of St. Cloud; three grandchildren, Michaela, Sierra and Donovan; her mother, Edith Salveson of Billings; a sister, Sharon and husband, George Schamber of Wheatland, Wyo.; a brother, Tom Salveson and wife, Patricia of Bridger; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father in 1979.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 2, 1999, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia. Burial was in the Riverside cemetery, Madelia.
Mildred B. Smith
LIVINGSTON - Mildred Beach Smith, 96, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999, at the Livingston Health and Rehab Center.
Cremation has taken place and interment of the cremated remains will be in the Shorthill cemetery in Paradise Valley. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, at Pine Creek United Methodist Church. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge.

A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, July 9, in the Bullis-Graves Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10, in the chapel with cremation to follow.
