Charles Lane, 78
HELENA -- Charles Edgar Lane Jr., 78, of Helena, formerly of Philipsburg, died Friday at the Veterans Medical Center at Fort Harrison.
He was born July 20, 1922, in Great Falls to Charles and Beryl (Oxley) Lane.
He received his education from Great Falls High School, graduating in 1940. He continued his education at the College of Great Falls, graduating in 1947.
He served his country in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945. He and Frances E. Mellen were married in Drummond on Aug. 9, 1945.
He taught at the high school in Drummond for two years before pursuing a career in ranching. Chuck was very active on the Granite County High School Board as well as the Granite County Soil Conservation Service and several other civic boards. He served as director of the Flint Creek Valley Bank for many years.
He loved flying in his youth and liked collecting and restoring classic cars up until his death. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Anaconda and helped charter the First Bank of Lincoln in the early 1960s.
His sister Beryl Garnett and parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Frances of Helena; son and daughter-in-law James C. and Deanna Lane of Deer Lodge; son Robert J. Lane of Philipsburg; three grandchildren, Amy Mannix of Missoula, Mike Lane of Merced, Calif., and Mac Lane of Fort Collins, Colo.; and one great-grandchild, Lane Ryan Mannix.
Viewing hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Retz Funeral Home in Helena. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Philip's Catholic Church in Philipsburg.
Interment will follow at Philipsburg Cemetery. Memorials: donor's choice.
Edna Lohr, 84
EAST HELENA -- Edna Marie Lohr, 84, of East Helena died at her home Tuesday.
She was born on Feb. 9, 1916, in Dell to Hugh M. and Orca M. (Bonney) Flemming.
She worked as a potato sorter. She married Otto Lohr and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughter Alea Lohr of East Helena; sons Robert Lohr of Orofino, Idaho and Henry Lohr and wife Viola of Townsend; brothers James Flemming of Sumner, Wash., and William Flemming and wife Virginia of Richmond, Utah; sister Effie Forbes and husband Don of Othello, Wash.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Church services are scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church in Townsend. Cremation has taken place.
Memorials: donor's choice.

Donald Hancock, 74
Donald C. Hancock died Saturday in St. James Healthcare.
He was born in Virginia City on Aug. 23, 1926, the son of Shirley B. and Alderine (McClurg) Hancock. He was educated in Virginia City.
On May 28, 1948, he married Catherine Mayo of Ennis. Together they moved to Butte where Don was a longtime salesperson for several businesses.
Don was a member of the amazing generation that fought World War II. He proudly served in the South Pacific with the Army. A man with many past times, Don's favorite was spending time with his family.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Linda Hancock.
He is survived by -- and will be missed by -- his wife of more than 50 years, Catherine; sister and brother-in-law Lois and Bill Stiener; brother and sister-in-law David and Karma Gilligan; sons and daughters-in-law Don and Cassandra Hancock of Butte and David and Janet Hancock of Salt Lake City; grandchildren Dayla, Adam, Rebecca, Nonya Rae, Sonia, Toni, Justin and Sheyla and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday after 9:30 a.m. in St. Ann's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Internment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Delores Labranche, 82
Delores Labranche died Friday in St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula.
She was born in Whitehall on Oct. 30, 1918, the daughter of John and Mary (Rom) Mogus. She graduated from Butte High School in June 1937 and married George Labranche in June 1942.
Throughout their marriage, they were completely devoted to each other, their two children and three grand children.
Delores loved to travel and enjoyed being with her family and friends. She had fun wherever she went and those around her very much enjoyed being with her. She will be dearly missed.
Preceding her in death were her brothers John, Tony, Joe and Fred Mogus and sister Mayme Mavros.
Surviving relatives include her husband George of Butte; son and daughter-in-law George and Lori Labranche of Gilroy, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law Dolly and Roger Simonson of Salt Lake City; grandchildren Jenny Labranche of Orlando, Fla., Dan Labranche of Santa Rose, Calif., Eric Simonson of Salt Lake City; brother Max Mogus of Butte; brother-in-law Harold Nelson of Butte; and sister-in-law Lois Labranche of Butte.
In keeping with her requests, her remains have been cremated and no services are planned. Please do not send flowers, but rather take the time to be with your loved ones.
George Garrison, 84
George F. Garrison died Thursday evening in a local hospital. He was born in Butte on May 5, 1916, to Clarence and Regena (Cronin) Garrison. He attended local schools.
George was a business machine mechanic for Remington Rand, Underwood and Don's Office Supply. Later he owned Bruce's Donut Shop, retiring in 1982.
George enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and bowling. He loved making pancakes for his family on Sunday mornings.
He married Geraldine Wathen in Butte on Aug. 18, 1940. She died in 1995. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Tom Powers and Ralph Garrison, and grand son, Jeffrey Hampa.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Delilah Garrison, Butte; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Donald Hampa, Italy, Elaine and Gregory Wolstein, Butte, and Valerie Dinsmore, Carlsbad, Calif.; grandchildren, Lori and Dan Chamberlin, Susan and Brian Miller, Becky and Tony Hockaday, Andrew and Celina Hampa, Wendy Dinsmore, Shelly and Enos Howell, Bryon and Yeni Dinsmore, Travis Dinsmore, Tracy and Rob Sumpter, Tanya and Russ Connole, Tammy and Mike Coates, Erin, Ashley and Klancy Wolstein; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Johnston, Mildred Critton and Lois Lorengo; sister-in-law, Melda Rademacher; brother-in-law, Wesley Wathen; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean and Joe Mahoney.
His remains have been cremated in Butte. Memorial services will be conducted Monday at noon in Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Rev. Esther Angel officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials: Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children or charity of the donor's choice. Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Judy Redli, 58
Judy Redli died Thursday evening of natural causes.
She was born in Hamilton on April 29, 1942, to Henry and Pauline (Glantz) Dillman.
She married Stephen Oliver Redli on July 29, 1962. They were blessed with two beloved sons, Troy and Dan.
Judy worked at Wendy's in Butte for 18 years until ill health forced her to retire.
Judy was an accomplished artist. She created works of art in crochet, quilting, ceramics and, most recently, painted beautiful wildlife scenes on feathers.
She was an avid snowmobiler, hunter and outdoorswoman. Judy and Steve enjoyed bringing their beautifully restored '67 Chevy Impala to car shows and took home many awards.
She is survived by her husband and soul mate, Steve Redli, Butte; sons and daughters-in-law, Troy and Laci Redli, Dan and Helen Redli, and Lisa Redli, all of Missoula; grandchildren Codey, Mark, Kacee, Sara and Bransen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Al and Pat Dillman, Ken and Donna Dillman; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma and Tom Burdett, Carol and Ed Carvey, Delores and Roy Adams.
Her remains are in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home where friends may call beginning Monday at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home with Deacon Tubie Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Memorials: Shrine Hospital for Crippled Children or a charity of the donor's choice.
William James, 84
BILLINGS--William `` Barney" James died Thursday. Barney was born in Wickes, Ark., in 1916. In 1935, he enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps and was discharged from the F75Flint Creek, Montana Corps in 1939.
In 1942, Barney joined the Army and was honor ably dis charged in 1944. He spent most of his life in Anaconda and worked for the Anaconda Copper Mining Co., Sugrue Bottling and Montana Power.
Barney was happiest when hunting, fishing or riding his snowmobile. He also collected coins and tokens. He was a life member of the Anaconda Sportsmen Club, the Elks Lodge 239, and Butte's Disabled Veterans Chapter No. 6. He was director of District 4 Montana Snowmobile Association for 17 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings, and wife, Ina, who died in 1994. In 1996, Barney moved to Billings to be with his son and family.
Barney is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Don and Mary Ellen James, Billings, and granddaughters, Heather (Ryan) Miciak, Spokane, Wash., and Dawn James, Billings.
Private services will be Wednesday at St. Pius X Church in Billings and interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials: donor's choice. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.
