Blanche Amy Crystal
On April 20, 1999, the Lord decided that Blanche's work was done on Earth and that He needed her in Heaven. Her long struggle with diabetes and shorter battle with cancer ended peacefully at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving children and caregivers.
Blanche was born on March 21, 1919, the daughter of Clyde and Zadie (Hanks) Jeffery in Denton. Blanche was from a large family of three brothers and seven sisters. She graduated in Denton, then came to Billings and worked as a telephone operator in Denton then moved to Billings to attend beauty college and operated a shop in Billings.
On Jan. 25, 1946, Blanche married
Raymond Crystal. Ray was a truck driver so Blanche had the responsibility of raising three children. She was active in her children's lives by going to school programs, PTA groups and being a Scout leader. She also was a "neighborhood mom" to numerous kids and her children's friends. Blanche's home was a gathering place on the block.
Blanche then continued her loving nature onto her grandchildren and then became the "neighborhood grandma." She always had pictures and stories to share with any visitor who came by. Blanche took great pride in her three great-granddaughters and her eyes would light up just talking about them. She will be sorely missed by all.
Blanche was a member of the Pilgrim Congregational Church and a past member of the church's Friendly Circle.
Blanche is survived by one son, Robert of Billings; and two daughters, Donna of Battle Mountain, Nev., and Connie of Billings. She also leaves her three grandchildren, Stacy and wife, Sandra Crystal of Tucson, Ariz., Corie and husband, Tim Weisenberger of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Amy Crystal of Lancaster, Calif. Her great-granddaughters are Brittany and Marisa Crystal of Tucson and Mia Weisenberger of Oak Harbor. She also is survived by two brothers, Melvin and wife, Doris Jeffery of Winifred and Marvin and wife, Vivian Jeffery of Hilger.
