Clyde Kennedy, 67
SHERIDAN -- Clyde James Kennedy of Sheridan died Thursday, Sept. 21, at home.
He was born Sept. 5, 1933, in Auburn, Neb., to Claude and Grace (Gillespie) Kennedy. As a boy, his family moved often, living in California, Nebraska and Missouri. He joined the Armed Forces and served during the Korean War as an air rescue member on a helicopter. After the service, he moved to Wichita, Kansas, before moving to California, where he worked for Lockheed. He later worked at Stanford University as a mechanical engineer, helping with some of the first experiments to break down DNA. He moved to Sheridan in 1995.
He married Evelyn Kennedy in 1952; they divorced in 1984.
Survivors include a son, Clyde Kennedy Jr., and three daughters, all of San Jose, Calif.; twin brother, Claude Kennedy, Joshua Tree, Calif.; sisters, Audrey Mills, Indio, Calif., Vivian McCormack, LaQuinta, Calif., and Evelyn Cheney, Scottsdale, Ariz.
Graveside services with military honors are 10 a.m. Friday in the Sheridan Cemetery, Sheridan.

Robert G. (Nuge) Nugent, 72
Robert Graham (Nuge) Nugent died in his sleep at home Sunday morning surrounded by his loving family.
Nuge was born April 7, 1928, to Thomas (Rubber) and Dorothy (Graham) Nugent. He attended St. John Parochial School and Butte High and joined the Marine Corps in 1945. He served in Guam, Okinawa and China.
He married Elsie Jeanne McCarthy on Nov. 4, 1950. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a small gathering at the family home.
Nuge served his painter apprenticeship at Guay Auto Body Shop before opening the DRS Auto Paint Shop. He later retired from the Montana Highway Department as a maintenance operator.
He was one of the founding members of Butana Speedway and Stock Car Racing Association, winning many trophies throughout the state. He was a member of United Commercial Travelers and the McQueen Athletic Club.
One of his greatest pleasures was hunting big game in the upper Ruby. He particularly enjoyed his salmon fishing trips to Westport, Wash. He was an avid stamp and coin collector.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son Patrick, sons Tom and Dale, and in-laws Edward and Edna McCarthy.
Survivors include his wife; daughters Jayce (Terry Thompson), Jill (Don Benton), and Jan (Joe Vukovich); sons Tim, Dan, Scott and Jeff; special friend Marcy; 12 grand children and four great-grandchildren.
Dad will be sadly missed by his family and all the special friends he encountered in life.

Margaret A. Seymour, 93
Margaret A. Seymour died Saturday evening. She was 93 years old.
Margaret was born in Leadville, Colo., on May 23, 1907, to Peter and Catherine (Farren) Lunney, the third of eight children. The family moved to Butte when Margaret was 5 years old. Margaret attended first grade at St. Mary's school, but moved to the Flat that year and has lived in St. John the Evangelist Parish since before the parish existed. She was the first child ever con firmed in the parish. She graduated from Girls' Central High School in 1926.
She and Thomas Seymour were married in June 1927, and together they reared four children. He preceded her in death in September 1965.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Aretta Seymour, Butte; daughter-in-law Margent Seymour, Charlo; daughters and son-in-law, Mary Duran, Butte, and Margaret and James Leary, Butte; sisters Catherine Chamberlin, Catherine (Kadi) Mee and Stacia Snow, all of Butte; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, her son Thomas J. Seymour in 1982, her grandson Dr. James J. Leary in 1994, and her son-in-law Roy Duran in 1996.
Her remains are in Wayrynen-Richards Funeral Home where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, proceeding to St. John the Evangelist Church where Liturgy of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception will follow in Wayrynen-Richards Community Center. Parish Vigil Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday. Arthur J. Sheldon, 83
Arthur Joseph Sheldon, 83, died Saturday at St. James Healthcare. Mr. Sheldon was born in Butte on Jan. 24, 1917, to Jesse and Kathleen (Brosnahan) Sheldon. A lifelong resident, he attended St. Patrick's Grade School and Butte High School. He graduated in 1935.
In his early years, he worked for Barker Bakery and Continental Oil Company. Then he worked for more than 30 years for Ralph Olson Service Station as a tank truck driver. He retired from the service station.
He was not happy with retirement and went to work at St. Joseph's Church as a maintenance engineer. When the North Unit of Three Churches formed, he continued as maintenance engineer until retiring for good.
He married Maureen Smith on Nov. 18, 1958, in Sacramento, Calif.
Preceding him in death were his parents, mother-in-law, brother Fred, infant sister Edna and beloved daughter Julie.
He is survived by his wife Maureen; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael, Los Angeles, and Steven and Theresa of East Helena; grandchildren Riley and Kailey of East Helena; twin brother and sister-in-law, Allan and Margie Sheldon, Butte; sister-in-law Lauretta Sheldon, Belmont, Calif.; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Cremation has taken place. Mr. Sheldon's family will receive friends after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick's Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in the church. Interment of ashes will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Agnes Sullivan, 83
Agnes M. Sullivan died at her home of natural causes on Tuesday.
She was born on Feb. 8, 1918, in Butte, the daughter of Edward and Katherine (Comba) Hastings. She attended St. Mary's Grade School and graduated from Girls' Central High in 1936.
Agnes married Tim E. Sullivan Sr., on Sept. 1, 1939. They were married for 56 years. Agnes was a devoted member of St. Mary's and St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother and proud of her 12 grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tim; daughter, Kathryn; son, Dr. Tim Sullivan Jr.; parents; brothers, Edward and John; and sister, Julia.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Ann Sullivan of Concord, Calif., Jerry and Donna Sullivan of Meridian, Idaho; daughters and son-in-law, Patricia Sullivan and Maureen and Peter Zemljak, all of Butte.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends may call Saturday after 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial follows at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Memorials: Butte Central Catholic Education Fund, Our Lady of the Rockies or donor's choice.

Kurtis Krause, 42
DILLON -- Kurtis John Krause died Sunday at home in Dillon.
He was born Oct. 27, 1958, in Dillon to Kenneth and Marlene Krause of Jackson. He spent his early childhood in Jackson, where he attended first through eighth grades at Jackson Elementary. After graduation from Beaverhead County High, he attended Whitworth College in Spokane for two years on a music scholarship. He received a bachelor of science degree in music from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
Kurt was a well-known pianist. His love and mastery of ragtime and swing brought joy to everyone who heard him play. One of his greatest joys was playing the Cremona at the Virginia City Opera House. He could make it sing for the enjoyment of young and old alike. He worked as a musical director and accompanist at numerous dinner and summer theaters, churches and performing groups. He began his career when, as a high school junior, he was hired to perform at the Port Polson Summer Theater in Polson under the direction of Larry Barsness. He worked many years for the Virginia City Players and the Pink Garter Theatre in Jackson, Wyo., and for musical and dinner theaters in the Los Angeles area, including the Pasadena Playhouse. Of late, he accompanied the Missoula Children's Theater on several productions. Recently, he was hired by Universal Studios to write music for the Dr. Seuss exhibit at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure in Florida, which appears on the Island of Adventure's official soundtrack album.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Ollie Krause, and George Franks.
Survivors include his parents; brother, Kade of Jackson; nephew, John Remington Krause; grand mother, Kathryn Franks of Dillon; uncle, George Franks, Missoula; cousins, Gregg Franks, Jennifer Franks and Kathy Campbell; and numerous other relatives and life long friends.
Kurt will be remembered for his wit and sense of humor, kindness, love of family history, the Big Hole Valley where he grew up, old photographs, flea markets, collectibles and, most of all, reminiscing with friends and family about the area, its people and past. He will be missed by his family and friends.
As one friend said, `` Kurt is probably playing the piano, and the angels are listening to him -- getting a few pointers on how to make heaven swing."
At his request, cremation has taken place, and private family services are planned.

Richard Guay, 70
Richard F. Guay of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Tuesday in Pascagoula, Miss.
He was born and reared in Butte and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He lived in Las Vegas for 37 years prior to moving to Ocean Spring this past November. He retired from the Postal Service while in Las Vegas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Bernice Guay, and brother, Robert Guay.
He is survived by wife, Teresa Guay of Ocean Springs; sons, James Guay of Ocean Springs and Daniel Guay and wife Lori of Newport Beach, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Walter Willard, Butte; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Lynn Guay, Helena; and grandchildren, Matthew and Olivia Guay of Ocean Springs.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Ocean Springs.
Thomas F. Cleary, 94
Thomas F. Cleary died Tuesday evening.
He was born in Butte on Sept. 19, 1906 to Thomas and Anna (Ludwig) Cleary. He was reared and received his education in the Pipestone area.
Tom served his country in the Navy. He returned to Butte and worked as pumpman for the Anaconda Co. for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Arco Retirees Club.
He married Ann Brown in Butte in 1932. She died in 1999.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Vonnie and Jack Dahlman of Butte and Jan and Don Temme of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; grandchildren, Mary Ann and David Allison, Jacqueline and Chad Farstveet, Jody and Mike Krzan, Colleen and Doug Royse, Todd and Robin Dahlman, Patty and Terry Browning, Timmy Dennehy, Regina Dennehy, and Janet and Gary Peters; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Kay Brown of Spokane.
His remains have been cremated in Butte. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Saturday at St. Patrick's Church. Burial: Holy Cross Cemetery.
