Helen E. Vogel
Helen E. Vogel, of Billings, passed away Friday, May 28, 1999 at her home.
She was born March 28, 1916, at Anoka, Neb., a daughter of William Sr. and Emilie Miller. She attended country school at Anoka, Neb. from the first to the sixth grade. The family then moved to Billings in 1928 where Helen finished her education.
Helen met and married her husband Fred Vogel Jr. in Laurel on Dec. 14, 1935. The couple were married 57 years. Mr. Vogel preceded her in death in 1993.
Survivors include her two sons: Robert D. Vogel and his wife, Sharon of Billings, Larry E. Vogel and his wife, Linda of Red Lodge; four grandchildren: Debra Farrar, Shelly Clemens, Dwayne Vogel and Kimberely Nordlund; six great-grandchildren: Austin and Hannah Rose Vogel, Callie and Devan Farrar, and Shaebreaun Nordlund; two brothers: Gilbert (Gladys) Miller and Harold K. (Lydia) Miller, both of Billings; seven sisters: Erna Sears of Tacoma, Wash., Emilie Feller of Allen Park, Mich., Frieda (Henry) Lehr of Laurel, Esther Harrold of Carlinville, Ill., Ruth (Jim) Ross of Helena, Charlotte (Tom) Rudolf of Billings, and Barbara (Edward) Peterson of Billings; and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred and two brothers, Bill and Glenn Miller.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 2nd, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Laurel. Interment will be in the Laurel cemetery.
Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel is in charge of arrangements.

Andrew A. Adler
BUTTE - Andrew A. Adler, 68, of Butte, formerly of Hardin died June 19, 1999, in the Evergreen Nursing Home.
He was born Jan. 27, 1936, in Hardin, a son of Alexander and Selma Mertz Adler. He was raised in the North valley near Hardin and attended the North Valley School. He lived and worked on the family farm, until moving to Hardin in 1954. He had been in poor health for a long time, but showed great courage until the end.
Andy like everyone and had a great appreciation for Native American culture.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece.
Survivors include four sisters: Betty Rollins and Shirley Mallette of Hardin, Mrs. Mary (Ed) Ryder of Billings and Beverely Adler of Ronan.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Fairview cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Should friends desire, memorial contribution may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Elmond "Andy" Anderson
GLENDIVE - Elmond "Andy" Anderson, age 78, of Glendive, died on Monday, June 21, 1999, at the Glendive Medical Center in Glendive.
An evening memory service for family and friends will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 24, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Glendive with Pastor Paul Everett and Lay Pastoral Associate Avis Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Wibaux cemetery in Wibaux. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
Elmond was born on Sept. 9, 1920, at the family home, two miles west of Hodges, the son of Arvid and Marie (Schmudlach) Anderson. His early years were spent on a ranch and farm and he attended the Hodges School. Elmond married Helen G. Tennant on Nov. 7, 1940, in Terry. They moved to Fallon and Elmond worked for various area ranchers and farmers and had also worked for the railroad as an electrician. Elmond was well known for his part in the rodeo business and in his younger years he enjoyed riding bucking horses, calf roping and bulldogging. He also owned a race horse and managed another race horse. Elmond and Helen lived in Hodges until 1952 when they moved to their present home about six miles east of Glendive. Elmond retired from the railroad in 1982.
Elmond enjoyed storytelling and he particularly enjoyed history. He was a 25 year member of the Glendive A.A. group.
Survivors include his wife Helen, of Glendive; four children: Ava Lee Anderson of Glendive, Roger Anderson and his wife, Carlin of Glendive, Robert Anderson and his wife, Bernetta of Glendive, and Barry Anderson and his wife, Georgette of Glendive; two brothers: Arvid Anderson of Livingston, and Philip Anderson and his wife, Gloria of Great Falls; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elmond was preceded in death by his daughter, Gail on May 13, 1960 and his sister, Helen Hill Botch.
Elmond will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Lloyd R. Berklund
Lloyd R. Berklund, 75, of Billings passed away peacefully Friday, June 18, 1999, at his home. He was born July 2, 1923, in Alexander, N.D., to Claus and Sylvia Chesmore Berklund. After serving in the U.S. Army in World War II (1943-45) Lloyd returned home and met Helen Lang. They were married June 11, 1946, in Sidney. They had two daughters.
Lloyd was the parts manager for International Harvester Co. for 36 years; he was also a customer service representative at County Market on Central Avenue for seven years. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd for 40 years. After retiring, he enjoyed woodworking, raising his vegetable garden and taking long car rides with his wife.
Lloyd left behind his wife of 53 years, Helen; two daughters: Joyce (Ross) Brown of Billings and Brenda Kite of Lewiston, Idaho; six grandchildren: Jamie, Becky and Jason Brown, and Stephanie, Robert, and William Kite; sister, Lula Fuhrman; and four brothers: Walter, Elwood, Almon and Melvin Berklund. He also left behind many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.
Cremation has taken place and memorial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 24 St. W and Lewis Ave. Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were made by Cremation Society of Montana and Cremation or Funeral Gallery.

Forrest M. Emmett
LOVELL, Wyo. - Forrest M. Emmett, 90, passed away Monday, June 21, 1999, at New Horizons Care Center in Lovell. He joined his wife, Veta Garnet Smith and son, Kay Smith Emmett in heaven. He was born Aug. 12, 1900, to Moses Mosiah Emmett and Florence Ophelia Allred. He loved his large family of 15 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by son, Dorman (Dorothy) Emmett of Billings; daughter, Janet Alexander of Vancouver, Wash.; and son, Jay G. (Diana) Emmett of Lovell.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, 1999 at the Lovell L.D.S. Stake Center. Interment will be in the Lovell cemetery.
Haskell Funeral Home of Lovell is in charge of arrangements.

Doris Rhine Golden
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Doris Rhine Golden, 90, died Friday, June 18, 1999, at the Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County.
Cremation has taken place. Graveside committal services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, in the Masonic No. 8 Oblong Square of the Sheridan Municipal cemetery. Champion Funeral Home is in charge.

Dolores V. Hveem
BOZEMAN - Dolores V. Hveem, 77, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 19, 1999, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Bozeman. She was born Aug. 14, 1921, in Williston, N.D., to Carl and Anna Marie (Werner) Koepke. The family moved to the Lustre area and Dolores attended schools in Glasgow.
In 1946, she married Norman "Stormy" Hveem in Wolf Point. She worked at the Public Drug Store for over 30 years before retiring. Norman passed away in 1988, and in 1994, Dolores moved to Bozeman to be closer to her family.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Linda Hveem of Bozeman; granddaughters, Jennie and Janna Hveem; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Lefty Jensen of Wolf Point; sister-in-law, Mary Hveem of Libby; as well as several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday the 24th of June at Greenwood cemetery in Wolf Point. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church Building Fund, 416 Johnson St., Wolf Point, Mont. 59201-1899 or the charity of their choice.

Hazel Kronberger
GLENDIVE - Hazel Kronberger, 84, died Friday, June 18, 1999, at the Glendive Medical Center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 23, in the Chapel of Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home with interment in the Regent cemetery in Regent, N.D.

LaVaughn F. Kuebler
RED LODGE - LaVaughn F. Kuebler, age 57, of Red Lodge, died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at the home of her mother and stepfather, Thresa and John Papez.
She was born Aug. 8, 1941, in Red Lodge. She attended schools in Bridger and then attended Hollywood Beauty College in Billings. LaVaughn worked as a beautician in Boulder and Ennis. She later lived in Linden, Wash., and Soldotna, Alaska. She had lived in Red Lodge the past 10 years.
LaVaughn married Lester Kuebler in Washington.
Survivors include her son, John Shane Kuebler of Fort Jackson, S.C.; her mother and stepfather, Thresa and John Papez of Bridger; a brother, Donald L. (Trudie) McCollum of Missoula; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 23, at the Olcott Funeral Chapel in Red Lodge. Interment will follow at the Red Lodge cemetery. The casket is closed.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Helen Geolas Nickos
Helen Geolas Nickos, born in Muskogee, Okla., died on June 21, 1999. Her parents, George and Jenny (Georgalas) Geolas later moved their family to Kansas City, Mo., where Helen attended school until she married .
Helen's talents were many and she was extremely quick to learn. After she married Steve Nickos, they traveled over the United States as Steve was a Greek Orthodox Church Iconographer so she held various jobs wherever they went. When the church jobs were not available, Helen devotedly worked alongside her husband in painting houses. They finally settled in Billings in 1970. She also had a "green thumb" when it came to gardening and her flowers were always the most beautiful in the neighborhood. You were not permitted to leave her home after visiting without taking a fresh bouquet with you. She was just as generous with her delicious and delicate Greek pastries. Above all, she always conducted herself like a lady.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a daughter. Survivors include two brothers: Gus and Louie Geolas and various nephews and nieces of Kansas City.
A trisagion service will be held Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at Smith Downtown Chapel. A vigil service will be held at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in the gymnasium 10 a.m. Thursday, June 24, at Broadwater Avenue and 17th St. West. Interment will follow at Terrace Gardens cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church; c/o Fr. Eric Tosi, 14 Shadow Place, Billings, MT 59102.

Annetta D. Nielsen
Annetta D. Nielsen, 93, of Billings, died Sunday, June 20, 1999, at her home.
The daughter of Daniel J. and Mattie Dyksterhuis DeBeer, Annetta was born May 12, 1906, in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from high school in Creighton, Neb., in 1923. She taught school in Knox County, Neb., for two years before attending Battle Creek College in Battle Creek, Mich., where she graduated with a B.S. degree in dietetics in 1928. She went on to do graduate work at Ann Arbor, Mich.
Annetta sang lead roles with the Gilbert and Sullivan stock company for one-and-a-half years and was sustaining artist with WJR Radio for one year.
She married Iver B. Nielsen of Bryan, Ohio, Oct. 30, 1930, in Spirit Lake, Iowa. They made their home in Bryan from 1930 to 1941, where Iver was general manager of ARO Equipment Manufacturing. In 1941 they moved to Montana where they owned and operated Mission Ranch east of Livingston for a number of years before moving to Billings.
Annetta was a member of First Congregational Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Congo Club. She served on the YWCA Board, Salvation Army Board, was president of Chapter E PEO, did volunteer work with Pink Ladies and Yellowstone Fine Arts Center, recorded books for the blind, and was on the Board of Continuing Education for Women at Rocky Mountain College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Iver in 1957; a sister, Gladys Vandenbelt in 1981; and her brother, John in 1990.
Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Ann Erickson and her husband, Ronald of Missoula, and Judith M. Mitchell and her husband, Maurice of Lakewood, Colo.; grandchildren, Christine Erickson of Santa Barbara, Calif., Terrell Kelley of Kailua, Hawaii, and James Herrington of Livermore, Colo.; and great-grandchildren, Matt and Mark Herrington and Avery Annetta Erickson.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Mortuary with interment in Mountview cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Larry A. Oxford
BELGRADE - Larry A. Oxford, 51, of Belgrade, passed away June 20, 1999, from an accident, June 17, 1999. He was born Aug. 10, 1947, to James and Genevieve (Hines) Oxford, in Belle Fourche, S.D.
He grew up on a ranch north of Alzada, attending grade school in Albion. He went to high school in Belle Fourche, graduating in 1965. Larry attended Montana State University in Bozeman and graduated in 1973.
On June 15, 1972, he married Joanne McAmis in Belle Fourche. They had two children, Andrew and Nicki. Upon graduation from MSU, he worked for PCA/Farm Credit in Miles City, Glendive and Bozeman for 16 years. He then opened Bases Loaded Card Shop in Bozeman, where he has been owner/operator for nine years.
Larry's favorite pastimes were trips to the mountains with his family and friends for hunting, fishing, camping and 4-wheeling. He enjoyed attending all of his children's sports events. He loved spending time with his family.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Genevieve and two brothers. Larry is survived by his wife, Joanne; son, Andrew and daughter, Nicki; his father, James Oxford of Spearfish, S.D.; brother, Jim of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Belgrade Alliance Church, Cameron and Hoffman Street, Belgrade. A Memorial will be designated by the family.

Elizabeth F. Finke
Elizabeth F. Finke, 84, of Billings passed away Saturday, June 12, 1999, at her home.
She was born April 6, 1915 in Huron, S.D., the daughter of Cliff and Nettie Williams. She was raised and educated in South Dakota. On May 18, 1940, Elizabeth married Maxwell M. Finke in Huron, S.D.
Survivors include her husband, Maxwell; daughter, Elizabeth Pezzetti of Bloomfield Hills, Mich.; son, John Finke of Billings; son, Dick Finke of Council Bluff, Iowa; her grandchildren: Tom Pezzetti, Mike Pezzetti, Ann Pezzetti, Nicole Finke, Kim Finke, and Tim Finke; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, at Jolley Funeral Home in Sturgis, S.D., with interment at Black Hills National cemetery. Memorials may be made to The Arch Inc., 604 S. 37th St., Omaha, NE 68105.
Michelotti, Sawyers and Nordquist has charge of arrangements.
