Angel Clara Old Elk Routh
LODGE GRASS - Angel Clara Old Elk Routh, stillborn daughter of Shannon Old Elk and Kyle Routh, died April 13, 1999, in the Crow Agency Hospital.
She is survived by her parents, Shannon and Kyle Routh of Lodge Grass; grandparents, George and Diana Old Elk Jr. and William Routh of Lodge Grass, Reva Routh of Broadus; great-grandparents, Evelyn Old Elk of Crow Agency, Pauline Small of Lodge Grass and Ellen Perry of Lewistown.
Mass of the Angels will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday in the Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass cemetery. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Peggy J. Snodgrass
Peggy Janice Snodgrass, 70, died April 12, 1999, at her daughter's home in Lockwood.
She was born March 1, 1929, to Brownie and Wilma (Tharp) Sims in Jacksonville, Fla.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda Savitt and Erika (Mitch) Barron of Ohio, Robbee (Snodgrass) Mireles of Billings; sisters, Rose (Charles) Thorn, Marylou Damsel, Brownalee (Michael) Kurtz and Susannah Walker, all of Nevada, Wilma (Herbert) Schlosser of Pennsylvania, and brother, Brownie Sims of Ohio; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Lynda Snodgrass, in 1980.
Cremation has taken place. Cremation or Funeral Gallery is in charge of arrangements. Memorial services will be at the Salvation Army Chapel, 2100 Sixth Ave. N., at 2 p.m. Friday, April 16.
Eva Mae 'Boots' Squires
SACO - Eva Mae "Boots" Squires, 59, of Saco, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at Northern Montana Hospital in Havre of complications from pneumonia.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 16, at Saco Lutheran Church with interment in the Grandview cemetery. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge.
Ted Steffan
VANCOUVER, Wash. - Mr. Ted Steffan passed away March 16 at his home in Vancouver with his family all around him.
Ted was born June 24, 1944, in Rockvale, Mont., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor "Red" Steffan.
He attended school and graduated from Edgar High School in 1962. He married
Evelyn Taylor on Nov. 24, 1962.
He worked for Burlington Northern in Laurel until 1978 when he transferred to Florence, Mont. He then transferred to Washington 18 years ago and has lived there since.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. "Fritz" Elizabeth Steffan of Fromberg, Mont.; his wife, Evelyn of Vancouver; his four children, Mrs. Rhonda (Michael) Buechler of Fromberg, son, Ted Jr. of Ridgefield, Mrs. Tammy (Nathan) Durland of New York, and Mrs. Jerri Ann (Mike) Good of Pasco; seven grandchildren, Katie, Marcus, Lucas, Ashley, Vanessa, Nathan, and Rachel; brother, Ron (Joyce) of Billings; three sisters, Emily Alleman of Illinois, Mrs. Josie (George) Smith and Mrs. Bonnie Zentner of Bridger; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and services have been held in Vancouver.
A memorial will be held in Fromberg at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday, April 17, at 11 a.m. After the memorial service a luncheon will be held at St. Joseph Hall.

Dick Takes
RED LODGE - Dick Takes, 70, of Red Lodge, formerly of Fort Collins, Colo., died Tuesday evening, April 13, 1999, at his home west of Red Lodge following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Rockwell City, Iowa, on Dec. 22, 1928, he was a son of Gene and Etta Takes. He graduated from Rockwell City High School, and attended Kemper Military Academy in Booneville, Mo., and Iowa State University. He graduated from Colorado A & M in Fort Collins with a degree in wildlife biology. Dick served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
On June 24, 1950, he married
Lucille "Lu" Way in Detroit, Mich. They settled in Fort Collins where he was employed for 20 years by the Colorado State Game & Fish, retiring as a regional game manager.
Dick was a volunteer with the Larimer County Sheriff's Posse in Fort Collins, and also ranched in Colorado and Nebraska. After selling his ranch, Dick entered law enforcement, serving in Nebraska, Wyoming and Montana. In 1982 Dick and Lu retired to Red Lodge where he built their log home. He enjoyed hunting, skiing, and spending time in the mountains with his family.
Dick was a devoted member and elder at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bridger. He was a member of the Wyoming and National Peace Officer's Association, served as treasurer for the Carbon County Republican Central Committee, and was a member of the Red Lodge Tree Board.
Survivors include his wife, Lu Takes of Red Lodge; two daughters and their husbands, Debi (Don) Blevins of DeBary, Fla., and Laura (D.J.) Bell of Fort Collins; six grandchildren, Brett and Jenna Blevins, and Brycen, Shea, Trevor and Chad Bell; and one brother and his wife, Donald and Dolores Takes of Fort Worth, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bridger. Graveside committal services will be held on Mon-day, April 19, in Grandview cemetery in Fort Collins. The Olcott Funeral Chapel of Red Lodge and the Reager Funeral Home of Fort Collins are in charge of arrangements.

Harold L. Webber
SIDNEY - Funeral services for Harold L. Webber, 82, Sidney, will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 16, 1999, at the Ebenezer Congregational Church, Sidney, with Pastor Bob Meehan officiating. Musical selections provided by Nicole Johnson and Caroline Kling. Interment will be in the Sidney cemetery under the direction of Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney.
Harold was born on May 19, 1916, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of William and Eva (Taylor) Webber. At the age of 6, Harold's mother died of cancer and his father was unable to care for him, so his mother's parents, L.F. and Kate Taylor, raised him until the age of 13. At that time he went to live with Cliff and Nettie Taylor until the age of 19.
Harold came to Montana to work for his uncle L.E. (Doe) Taylor at his G.M. dealership and his ranch in Great Falls. Harold met his wife, Audria Seiler in Great Falls and they were united in marriage on Jan. 2, 1936, in Fort Benton. They made their home in Great Falls. Harold entered the U.S. Navy and received a medical discharge. In 1941, they moved to Washington, D.C., where Harold was a police officer for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
In 1947, they moved to Polson where Harold worked at the Kerr Dam. Then in 1949, they moved to Helena where he worked for the B.F. Goodrich Co. as a manager for several years. They returned to Great Falls in 1955 and in 1958 they moved to Sidney. Harold went to work with his cousin, Joe Taylor, in the auto retail business. Then he was a partner in Gem City Motors Co. of Sidney and in the late '60s Harold became the sole owner of Gem City Motors. At the time of the sale of the Gem City Motors Building to Restorx, it was to remain the Webber Building. Harold retired in 1988 and they remained here ever since. His wife, Audria, died in January of 1990. After his wife died, Harold worked occasionally at the Fulkerson Funeral Home.
Harold was a member of the Ebenezer Congregational Church, where he was a deacon. He was also a member of the Al Bedoo Shrine, past master of Lower Yellowstone Masonic Lodge #90, and life member of the Elks Lodge #1782. Harold enjoyed fishing, going to his cabin at Rock Creek, spending time with all of his great--granddaughters, raising his roses, and the October hunts with the Taylor family.
Harold died Monday, April 12, 1999, in the Parkview Care Center, Billings, after a short illness.
Surviving him are: a son, Mike and wife, Donna Webber of Sidney; a daughter, Deanne and husband, James Corbett of Polson; a brother, Wilbur Webber of Rich Hill, Mo.; a sister, Florence Brunger of Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren: Mike (Linda) Corbett, Mike (Rhonda) Webber, Tanya (John) Seitz, and Teresa Webber and Kylee Lange; five great-grandchildren: Danielle, Michelle, Ashley, Amanda and Payton; and a special friend, Rhonda Whited of Sidney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Audria; and a sister, Hazel Moore.
Joy Edna Coffman
Joy Edna Parsons was born July 1, 1916, in Dayton, Wash. Her parents were Edna (Banks) and Oscar Parsons. When she was six weeks old, Joy, her mother and older sister came by train to Eastern Montana where Oscar homesteaded 23 miles from Culbertson. He had a "sod" house ready for his family when they came. There the family lived and the children went to grade school. Joy was her dad's right hand helper with the outside work.
She attended high school in Culbertson for the first three years and then graduated from Sidney High School in 1933. She attended business school in Billings and was hired by the county attorney's office in Sidney. Later she worked for the IRS in Helena and the county attorney in Billings. From the County Attorney's office, Joy went to work for the Bureau of Land Management. She retired from the BLM in July of 1979 after 25 years of service.
On Nov. 13, 1942, she married
Reitar Coffman who was serving in the U.S. Navy. They were married
in Salt Lake City but made their home in Billings.
She enjoyed playing the piano, baking, cooking, and traveling. Most of all, she loved being with her family and five grandchildren. She attended Faith Chapel with her family.
Survivors include her two daughters, Mrs. Court (Bonnie) Ball of 373 Stewart Court and Mrs. Curt (Connie) Wicker of Billings; two sisters, Thelma Barber and Phyllis Petersen, both of Sidney; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother and a sister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Mortuary.

David Diede
After a four year long hard fought battle with cancer, David Diede, of 535 Johnson Lane, died at his home on April 12, 1999. He was born in Billings on April 7, 1943, the son of John and Corena Diede.
David lived in Levine, Klein, Billings and Ten Sleep, Wyo. He graduated from Ten Sleep High School in 1962. He was a two time all-state basketball player and excelled in many sports throughout his life. On May 26, 1963, he married
Florence Ann Gopp in Worland, Wyo., and then moved to Billings. This union was blessed with two daughters, loving sons-in-law, and four grandchildren.
David established "Dave's Auto Supply" in 1965. For 34 years he called on service stations in Montana and Wyoming making many lifelong friends. Hard work brought him much success and happiness. His work ethics have been passed to the next generation.
Coaching girls softball was one of his passions for over 25 years, specializing in developing their pitching talents. This was ALWAYS a joy in his life. Many summers days were spent at Yellowtail Dam teaching family and friends how to fish and water ski. In these last few months he was able to encourage Kalob and Kasey in wrestling, enjoyed going to McDonalds with Becca and teaching Beau to turn over. He had looked forward to spending this summer enjoying Fudgecicles with them.
Those left to share his memories are his wife, Florence Ann; their daughters: Kelly (Wes) Smith and Rhonda (Kyle) Lythgoe; mother, Corena Diede; sister, Maeona (Robert) Lee; bothers: Sherman (Elaine) Diede, Miles (Marlene) Diede, Mick (Sandy) Diede; grandchildren: Kalob and Kasey Smith, Becca and Beau Lythgoe; and many nieces and nephews. His father, John, and brother, Johnny, proceed him in death.
Services for David will be at Smith West Funeral Home on Thursday, April 15, at 4 p.m. Viewing is at Smith's West on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. and Thursday 9 am. through service time.

Richard Wesley Eddy Jr.
CENTREVILLE, Va. - Richard Wesley Eddy Jr., 49, of Centreville, passed away April 9, 1999, in Fairfax of lymphoma.
Wake services were held April 13 at Everly Funeral Home in Fairfax. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, at the Centreville United Methodist Church, 6400 Old Centerville Road. Burial with Full Military Honors will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, in the Arlington National cemetery.

Richard was born Aug. 23, 1949, in Balboa, Panama Canal Zone. In 1976 he married
Anecita B. Villasis in Subic Bay, Philippine Islands.
In 1967 he graduated from Simms High School in Simms, Mont. He received a BA in political science from the University of Montana at Missoula in 1971 and a JD from the university's School of Law in 1974. In 1981 he received his MA in environmental law from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and in 1984 and 1985 studied tax law at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1972 to 1974 and from 1984 to 1986 and served in the Judge Advocate Generals Corps from 1974 to 1984. He also served as Naval Judge Advocate, trial counsel, defense counsel, legal assistance officer, staff judge advocate, military judge and international law attorney. He retired as a lieutenant commander.
He worked for the U.S. Department of the Navy from 1984 to 1999. At the time of his death Richard was an assistant director of the Navy Litigation Office where he supervised a team of senior civilian and military attorneys who represent the Department of the Navy in environmental litigation involving the Navy.
He was a member of the Montana State Bar; Sigma Phi Epsilon, University of Montana; and the International Legal Fraternity of Phi Delta Phi. He received the Navy Commendation Medal in recognition of meritorious service as special courts-martial military judge at Treasure Island, San Francisco; the National Defense Service Medal; and the Meritorious Civilian Service Award (Department of the Navy).
He was an active member of the Sully Station Community Association Board of Trustees, Centreville United Methodist Church and a volunteer with the Sully Station Swim Team.
Survivors include his wife, Anecita V. Eddy of Centreville; parents, Margaret L. and Richard W. Eddy Sr. of Great Falls, Mont.; a daughter, Valerie Grace Eddy of Centreville; a son, Richard W. Eddy III of Centreville; sisters, Wilma Tokarczyk of Yelm, Wash., and Celia Fisher of Billings, Mont.; and a brother, Timothy R. Eddy of Portland, Ore.
Ornola Neil McClure Fosgate
Ornola Neil McClure Fosgate passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 1999, at St. John's Lutheran Home. She was the daughter of John and Sarah Jane McClure. She was born Nov. 26, 1895, in Licking, Mo.
Nola grew up in Sterling, Colo., and attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs. On June 14, 1916, she married
Glen Charles Fosgate. He preceded her in death in 1963. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Christ and Chapter S of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Vaughan; three grandchildren, Wayne and Mary Vaughan of Billings and Susan Munsinger of Lakewood, Colo.; and three great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and family memorial services will be held at a later date. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.
Alma Juneau
ANACONDA - Funeral services for Alma Juneau, age 65 of Anaconda, will be conducted from the United Methodist Church, Friday morning, April 16, 1999, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kent Elliott officiating. Internment will follow in New Hill cemetery. Visitation/wake will be held Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the KT Riddle Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be held at the church Friday morning from 10 a.m. until service time.
She passed away Sunday evening, April 11, 1999, at St. Patrick Hospital, Missoula after a short illness.
Alma Mae was born on Aug. 28, 1933, in Conrad, a daughter of Walter Valentine and Dorothy E. (Jeffrey) Hanson. She was reared and educated in Browning, graduating from Browning High School in 1951.
Alma worked for Buttrey's Food from 1948 until she retired in 1990.
Alma traveled extensively. She volunteered many hours of her time to local community functions and activities.

She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Hanson of Columbia Falls; a son, Ken Juneau of Columbia Falls; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Jigger Buechler of Billings; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul and Linda Hanson of Billings, Charles and Sharon Hanson of Columbia Falls; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Fred Greiff of Everett, Wash.; companion Mladen Babich of Anaconda; two step-grandchildren, Tanner and Alyssa Buechler; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her father and a brother, James.
