Reinhold Kembel
Reinhold Kembel, age 97, of 3306 Coulson Road passed away Friday evening, June 11, 1999, at Eagle Cliff Manor following an extended illness of cancer.
He was born Oct. 6, 1911, in Huntley, the son of Jacob and Mary Kembel. He was raised in the Yellowstone Valley and on May 9, 1932, married Freda Bernhardt in Forsyth. They farmed on the Billings Heights and Lockwood until retiring in 1976. Freda preceded him in death Oct. 25, 1992.
Reinhold found joy in his farming and cattle, both dairy and beef. Until his illness prevented him, he also continued to garden. He took pride and joy in his family. He enjoyed playing "Pitch" with all his family.
He was a member of American Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one daughter and husband, Janie and Toby Glenn of Hamilton; three sons: Wilbur and wife, Darlene Kembel of Billings, Reinie Kembel and fiance, Rayne Thomas of Bismarck; Jim and wife Judy Kembel of Helena; 10 grandchildren: Marcia Strever, Michelle Mattfeldt, Russell Kembel, Michael Mehling, Monica Kembel, Clifford Kembel, Steve Kembel, Duane Kembel, Angela Atkinson, and Wendy Bingham; eight great-grandchildren: Heidi Weigum, Billy Strever, Hillary and Ashley Kembel, Samantha Mattfeldt, Mike'la Atkinson, Kally Kembel and Madison Kembel; one great-great-grandchild, Haylee Weigum; three brothers: Clarence Kembel, Carl Kembel, and Raymond Kembel, all of Billings; two sisters: Mary Lane and Pauline Staley, both of Billings, and a sister-in-law, Irene Kembel of Worden, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the American Lutheran Church. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Division St. and Lewis Ave. Memorials to the American Lutheran Church or Big Sky Hospice.

John Frederick Klamm Jr.
MILES CITY - John Frederick Klamm Jr., 73, died Saturday, June 12, 1999, at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, in the Chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Miles City with interment following in the Custer County cemetery.

Justin Deming McDonald
MUDDY CREEK - Justin Deming McDonald was born on Jan. 22, 1903, in Grinnell, Iowa. He died at home on the family ranch on Muddy Creek.
When he was three years old the family moved to Orchard, Neb. He grew up in the general area of Orchard, Paige and Crofton Neb. In 1926 he moved to Martin, S.D. His memories and stories of the reservation and the early settlers in the county were always fascinating. His love of history of the West and South Dakota in particular was thorough and accurate. He maintained his sense of history throughout his life. He was an avid reader preferring stories of the frontier.
Justin spent his life doing many things. but all who knew him recognized his skill as a finish blademan. He worked on roads in South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Texas and New Mexico. He was truly an artist with a blade.
After he finally retired from working roads at age 81, he started fishing. He loved to go regardless of what kind, where or how good the fishing was. He was especially fond of fishing with Doc Elliot on Yellowtail Dam, and Tongue River Dam.
On June 20, 1934, Justin married Kathryn Mae Picotte. They had five children: Arthur (Rita) McDonald, Lame Deer, Patty (Ilo) Fralick, Martin, S.D, Dan (Margaret) McDonald, Perryton Texas, Louis (Helen) McDonald, Roswell N.M., and Justin McDonald Jr.; eighteen grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lois; son, Justin Jr.; great-granddaughter, MartyAnna; and grandson, Charlie.
He is survived and missed by all of the family above plus five nieces, one nephew, one sister-in-law, Tory Hoblit and an "adopted" granddaughter, Jodi Martin.
In addition, in his extended family, he was "Grampa Mac" to many people both here in Montana and in South Dakota. He had some very special friends in Patricia Rowland, and the Lawrence Thompson family. The last years of his life, he had a very special friend, Rita. They had a very special relationship that will last forever.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held at the ranch on Muddy Creek at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 15. Cremation will be handled by Bullis Mortuary of Hardin.

Alice Selby
WILLISTON, N.D. - Alice Selby, 82, died Friday, June 11, 1999, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston.
Prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 14, at the Fulkerson Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Williston with interment in the Sidney cemetery, Sidney, Mont.

Bernard W. Barnes
TACOMA, Wash. - Bernard W. Barnes, 70, formerly of Hardin, died Friday, June 11, 1999, in the Billings Deaconess Medical Center.
Cremation has taken place. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 14, in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Memorial service and interment of the ashes will follow at a later date in Washington. Bullis Mortuary of Hardin is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Louise Becker
Ruth Louise Becker, 74 of Billings, died Friday, June 11, 1999 at her home.
The daughter of William A. and Mary A. Owan, Ruth was born Sept. 6, 1924, in Charleston, W.Va. She moved with her family to Williston, N.D. where she was raised and educated. She has made her home in Billings since 1948. Ruth worked as an oil and gas land-woman for many years.
The greatest mom ever and best big sister you could ask for, Ruth loved spending time at the family cabin on the Stillwater. She enjoyed ceramics, working with stained glass, golfing, and yard work, especially working with her roses. She was a member of St. Bernard's Parish.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Ed, her parents, two brothers, Charles and George and a sister, Donna.
Survivors include four children: Dennis Berklund and his wife Nancy of Big Fork, Ronald Berklund and his wife, Kay of Billings, Jeanne Zeidler and her husband, Steve of Plentywood, and Wallace Berklund and his wife, Barbara of Billings; her brother, Michael Owan of Dallas, Texas; four sisters: Alice Oatley of Dallas, Billiette Bagwell of Houston, Patricia Silverman of Minneapolis, and Barbara Hett of Dallas; 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; and 23 nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Mass and reception will be Wednesday, June 16, at 11 a.m. at St. Bernard's Parish.
Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice.
Michelotti, Sawyers and Nordquist has charge of arrangements.

Grace M. Birch
MUSCATINE, Iowa - Graveside services for Grace M. Birch, age 92, will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at the Dawson County cemetery in Glendive with Pastor Carter Havner officiating. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.
Grace died October 3, 1998 in Muscatine, Iowa.
Grace was born on Dec. 24, 1905, in Glendive, Mont., to Fred and Olive (Liljedahl) Birch. She attended Glendive schools, graduating in 1923. She lived her adult life in Chicago, where she was employed by the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. In 1990 she moved to Muscatine, Iowa.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and four sisters, of whom Fred and John Birch and Esther Birch Hoole were long time Glendive residents.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, including Ruth Hoole Hippely of Wilmington, Del., Marilyn Hoole Kathrein of Muscatine, Iowa, Ken Hoole of Fort Collins, Colo., and Gail Birch Knowlen of Gregory, Mich.

Margery Boyd Cozzens
MESA, Ariz. - Margery Boyd Cozzens, 69, longtime Cody, Wyo., resident passed away on Saturday, June 12, 1999.
Margery was born Oct. 8, 1929, in Worland, Wyo., the daughter of Luella Fillerup and Clarence Boyd. She attended schools in the Big Horn Basin until she married Lawrence E. Cozzens on Jan. 3, 1945. They lived in Montana and California before settling in Cody, Wyo., in 1964. After having six children she began her collegiate career. She attended NWCC in Powell, Wyo., and completed her BA Degree at MSU-Billings in 1970. She taught school in New Mexico and then decided to go to law school. She graduated from the University of Wyoming's Law School in 1985. Her law career was cut short because of declining health.
She was instrumental in creating the Park County Child Development Center and Park County Association for Retarded Citizens, which currently has seven satellites throughout Wyoming. Her passion was art. She was an excellent artist and the works she left behind are treasured. She was very active in the Mormon Church and the communities in which she lived.
Her father, Clarence Boyd, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Survivors include her devoted husband, Larry of Mesa, Ariz.; her mother, Luella Boyd of Cowley, Wyo.; her daughters: Betty Jean Knudsen and her husband, Ron, of Mesa, Cherry Peterson and her husband, Dave, of Olympia, Wash., Dawn Rolfe of Wailuku, Hawaii, Carol Barber and her husband, Greg, of Spanish Fork, Utah, and Cathy Cozzens of Mesa; her son Larry Cozzens and his wife, Jeannine of Billings, Mont.; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; her brothers: Clay Boyd and his wife, Betty, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, Michael Boyd and his wife, Linda, of Lehi, Utah, and Dewitt Boyd and his wife, Cheryl, of Billings, Mont.; her sisters: Patsy Brost of Cowley, Wyo., JoAnne Edwards and her husband, Joe, of Forest Hill, Calif., Jenny Cozzens, and her husband, Kim, of Palmdale, Calif., Barbara Golder and her husband, Steve, of Manan, Idaho, Melva Huffman and her husband, Roger, of Medford, Ore., and Branda Gibson of Riverton, Wyo.
A memorial service will be held in Mesa on Tuesday, June 15, arrangements by the Meldrum Mortuary and Crematorium; the funeral will be held at the Basin-Greybull LDS Church at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 18, with interment to follow; arrangements by the Atwood Funeral Home in Basin, Wyo.

Inez Gullett
POWELL, Wyo. - Inez Gullett, 90, died Friday, June 11, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the Miratsky-Easton Funeral Home, Powell. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at the funeral home, with interment at Crown Hill cemetery.

Richard Charles Langevin
CODY, Wyo. - Richard Charles Langevin, 70, died Friday, June 11, 1999, at his home in Cody.
Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 16, at the Church with interment following in the Riverside cemetery.

Shirley Ann Latray
LEWISTOWN - Shirley Ann Latray, 81, died Friday, June 11, 1999, at the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the Creel Funeral Chapel. Cremation services will follow under the direction of Creel Funeral Home.

Carl F. Nash
Dr. Carl F. Nash, 68, of Billings formerly of Ionia, Mich., passed away Tuesday, June 8, 1999. He was born in Ionia, Mich., on Nov. 11, 1930 to the parents Edgar and Nettie Nash.
After graduating from Michigan State University as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Nash worked for the Dept. of Agriculture until he retired in 1997.
Surviving are three brothers: Howard (Josephine) Nash and Forrest (Elaine) Nash both of Ionia, Mich., and Gordon (Beverley) Nash of Lake Toxaway, N.C.; one sister, Greta (Clark) Parsons of Lowell, Mich.; one sister-in-law, Luella Nash of Ionia, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Vivian Nash and one brother, Raymond Nash.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, June 14, at Le Valley United Methodist Church, in Ionia, Mich., with Rev. David Flagel officiating. The organist will be Janet Croel. Interment in Balcom cemetery, in Ionia, Mich. Visiting hours will be at the Rich St. Chapel of Cook Funeral Home in downtown Ionia, Mich., on Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Le Valley United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or the American Diabetes Assn. in care of Cook Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia, MI 48846.

Earl R. Nott
QUARTZSITE, Ariz. - Earl R. Nott, of Quartzsite, died April 27, 1999, in Phoenix.
He was born Sept. 12, 1909, in New Auburn, Wis., to Charles and Jennie G. Nott. He married Essie De Michelis in Chicago, Ill., in 1932. They moved to Columbus, Mont., in 1935 and moved to Arizona in 1993.
He served with the US Navy Seabees in WWII, was an insurance salesman, played tenor banjo at Shakey's Pizza Parlor and with the Billings Banjo Band. Interests included fishing, hunting, prospecting and mining.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Carol (Mrs. Uldis) Jansons of Lakewood, Colo.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
There was cremation. Memorials may sent to: Special K Ranch, Columbus, MT, or donor's choice.
