Rosa Mae Moore
HARDIN - Rosa Mae Moore, 62, of Hardin, passed away at her home Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999.
She was the granddaughter of Charles C. and Rosa LaForge Dillon. She was born Oct. 13, 1936, in Crow Agency the daughter of DeWitt A. Dillon Sr. and Phoebe Agnes Wilson Dillon.
Rosa received her early education in Wyola and attended the Flandreau Indian School in Flandreau, S.D., where she graduated in 1956. She returned to Montana and worked at the St. Vincent Hospital for a few years.
She married Paul H. Moore in Billings on May 27, 1958, The couple moved to Florida for several years before moving to St. Ignitious, for five years and to Browning for 16 years, before returning to Hardin in 1981.
Rosa loved to do oil paintings, play her guitar, camp and fish.
Survivors include her husband, Paul of Hardin; a daughter Anita Nall of Bozeman; a sister, LuJuanna R. Nelson of Dunmore; a brother, DeWitt Dillon Jr. of Crow Agency; six adopted brothers, Jimmy and Bobby Kindness of Billings, Tyrone Kindness, of Hardin, Dale Kindness of Crow Agency, Ronnie Yellowmule of Reno Creek and Charles Wilson of Wyola; an adopted sister, Sarah Stewart of Pryor; an uncle, Charles John Dillon; two grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Cremation will follow the services. Interment of cremains will be held at a later date.
Bullis Mortuary of Hardin has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the Wyola Baptist Church or charity of one's choice.

Grace Pederson
Grace went with God's angels to her heavenly home on March 1, 1999. She was born on March 10, 1927, in Seneca, S.D. She was the second of four children born to Ernest and Irene Hagenlock.
She graduated from high school in 1944 and came to Billings to begin work at the Billings Clinic. For half a century, Grace continued to work for the clinic. On Dec. 1, 1994, she was honored by a large 50th anniversary reception at the clinic, complete with a stretch limousine ride to work. Grace continued her work as administrator coordinator into the following year, but due to poor health she was forced to retire in 1995.
Grace married Olaf Pederson on July 27, 1949. They lived in Huntley where Ole was postmaster. She commuted to Billings until her husband passed away on Aug. 5, 1971. After his death Grace moved back to Billings. In 1998 she sold her home and moved into the Mission Ridge complex.
Grace touched the hearts of all who knew her and she was loved by all. She was a very special lady and will always by remembered in our hearts and prayers.
She was involved in many extra activities, which included the WAMI program for medical students; the Montana Medical Group Management Association, which she served as secretary for 10 years; Professional Secretaries Inc. since 1972; and a member of St. Pius X CCW.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and only brother. She is survived by two sisters, Helen Hagen of Sidney and Ethel (Dick) Aichele of Billings, eight nieces and nephews, and nine great-nieces and nephews.
A Vigil will be held at St. Pius X Church on Thursday, March 4, at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. Internment at Holy Cross cemetery. Memorials may be made to the St. Pius X Building Fund, Huntley Memorial Park, or to a charity of one's choice.
Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist has charge of arrangements.

June E. Hunter
June E. Hunter, 77, of Billings went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 13, 1999.
She was born June 13, 1921, in Winnett, the daughter of Art and Lulu Mae Nelson. She was raised in Winnett and Roundup, completed school and went on to nurses training at the Deaconess Hospital in Billings. She was working in Roundup when she met her future husband, Harry. Harry and June were married July 5, 1946, in Roundup, five weeks after he proposed to her, and raised two children. June worked for Fanny Farmer Candy Co., J.C. Penney, and School District 2 of Billings.
She enjoyed her yard and her flowers. She was a volunteer with the HOST program in the schools and the AWANA program in her church. Her hobbies included crocheting and bowling in the senior league at Fireside Lanes.
She is survived by her husband, Harry of 53 years; two children, Gayle and her husband, Jerry Kuhbacher of Oshoto, Wyo., and Dave Hunter and his wife, Connie of Billings; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Other survivors include Gene Nelson and his wife, Albie of Missoula and Bob Nelson and his wife, Myrt of Fort Collins, Colo.
Services will be Monday, May 17, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the First Alliance Church. Please send memorials to the First Alliance Church, 1835 Central Ave., Billings, MT 59102-4991. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Dorothy Schanck
PARK CITY - Dorothy Schanck, 71, of Park City, died peacefully in her home Thursday, May 13, 1999, of cancer. Dorothy was the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Hilderman. She was raised and educated in the Laurel-Park City area.
She married Ruben Vogel in 1946 and from that union five sons were born. In 1968 Dorothy married Gary Schanck. They celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary recently.
Dorothy spent most of her life "serving others" as she owned and operated the Park City Cafe where many got a great "home-cooked meal."
Her hobbies included crocheting and playing cards. Dorothy was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Gary; four sons: Harvey and wife, Nico of Missoula, Randy and wife, Chris of Billings, Ron and wife, Gail of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Ken of Cut Bank; stepchildren: Sheri Charbonneau and her husband, Colin of Spokane, Wash., Gary Schanck and wife, Jennifer of Forsyth; and grandchildren: Corey and Casey Vogel of Everett, Wash., Matt, Jeremy and Katie Vogel of Billings, Josh, Adam and Owen Vogel of Cut Bank, Josh Vetter of Woodinville, Wash.; step-grandchildren are: Kale Charbonneau of Spokane, Michael, Adam and Raylin Schanck of Forsyth; and two great-grandchildren. Brothers surviving are: Harry Hilderman and wife, Georgia of Park City and Ben Hilderman of Molt. Sisters are: Mondy Michael of Park City, Loretta Kraft of Laurel, Marlene Grubs and husband, Calvin of Columbus, Dolores Simons and husband, Dean of Columbus, Pat Williams and husband, Bill of Joliet, and Judy Davis and husband, Tom of Worland, Wyo. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald; a brother, Robert; her sister, Martha Frank; and a granddaughter, Lyndee Vogel.
Dorothy was dearly loved and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 1999, at Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel. Inurnment following service at Park City cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Big Sky Hospice, P.O. Box 35033, Billings, Mont. 59107 or to the Park City American Legion Auxiliary.

Mary Margaret Blakley
Mary, 43, died Saturday, Feb. 20, in Billings.
Mary was born in Boise, Idaho. She was raised and educated in Boise, graduated from high school there, and later became a certified nurses aid, working in local hospitals and nursing homes. Four years ago she moved to Billings and has lived in various areas of Montana since.
Mary's bright, cheery, compassionate attitude lifted others up. She was always there for someone in a time of need. Few had a more caring, loving heart.
Mary loved her pet cats. She enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to every kind of music, shopping at garage sales and thrift stores. She loved feeding the ducks, geese and squirrels at city parks.
Survivors include her mother, Mary of Boise; brother, Jerry of Boise; and fiancÈ, Steve Howe of Billings.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin, and brother, John.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Harvest Fellowship Church, 631 Hallowell, Pastor Rick Lee officiating.

Janice M. Bonawitz
Janice M. Bonawitz of Billings died at home Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, of cancer.
She was born in Laramie, Wyo., on Feb. 8, 1930, to Helen and Glen Hartman. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Mathew's Episcopal Cathedral in Laramie.
Jan attended school in Cody, Wyo., prior to graduating from Billings Senior High School.
Jan was a secretary and receptionist in Billings for many years and retired from Hall and Hall, Inc. in 1988. She loved to bowl and was an excellent seamstress and accomplished 'boogie-woogie piano player. She also supported animal charities and loved her poodle "Gus".
She was married to Jack L. Bonawitz in 1980. Jack preceded her in death in 1995.
She is survived by her mother, Helen Hartman of Billings and two children, Montica Norval of Denver, Colo., and Richard (Daughn) Norval of McGrew, Neb., and two grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Smith West Chapel at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 4. Memorials may be given to the Big Sky Hospice, P. 0. Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107.

Minnie A. Byrne
VISALIA, Calif. - Minnie A. Byrne, 95, passed away Feb. 27, 1999, in Visalia. She was born in Orient, S.D., Nov. 5, 1903. She married William Raymond Byrne in Faith, S.D.
They moved to Eastern Montana in 1940 where they farmed for several years. Later they moved to Billings where they resided for many years.
Her husband, Ray, preceded her in death on May 4, 1963, in Billings. She was also preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
Minnie is survived by two children: a son, Dean, and wife, Pat of Corvallis, a daughter, Diane, and husband, Michael Moroney of Visalia; two sisters, Irene and Esther of Visalia; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren: Michael and Glenda Byrne, children, Joseph and Melissa; Russell Byrne and son, Coleman; Raymond and Sandy Byrne and daughter, Sarah; Scott and Debbie Byrne and daughters, Courtney and Megan; Patrick and Anna Byrne and children, Nicole and Gabriel; Michael Moroney; Matthew and Janet Moroney; and Larisa Moroney.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at Holy Cross cemetery in Billings. Smith's Downtown Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Edintha L. Clift
COTTONWOOD, Ariz. - Edintha Clift, 90, a resident of Cottonwood, died Feb. 6, 1999. She was born March 15, 1908, in Nahant, S.D., the daughter of Edward B. and Cynthia P. McLaughlin Armitage. Mrs. Clift attended school in Riverton, Wyo., St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Billings, Mont., and Margaret Hague Maternity school in New Jersey.
As a registered nurse she worked in Billings, Riverton, Los Angeles and La Mesa, Calif., where she specialized in surgery and obstetrics.
Mrs. Clift was a member of the Mountain View Methodist Church and Ruth Circle. A longtime member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Montana and Cottonwood, she belonged to Diamond Chapter No. 7.
Mrs. Clift is survived by her daughter, Charlene Humphrey of Billings; sons, Donald Clift of Cottonwood and Billy Clift of Placentia, Calif.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Benedix of Cottonwood; and a brother, William Armitage of Yucca Valley, Calif.
Funeral services were held Feb. 10, 1999, at Mountain View Methodist Church with the Rev. Ellen Willis-Conger officiating. Interment followed at the Valley View cemetery in Clarkdale.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Diamond Chapter No. 7, P.O. Box 727, Cottonwood, AZ 86326 or the Billings Masonic Center, P.O. Box 21036, Billings, MT 59104.

Alice Eaton Ferch
Alice Eaton Ferch, born Feb. 2, 1919, died Feb. 22, 1999.
She moved to Circle with her family, L.B. Eatons, where they owned Blue Moon Tavern & Cafe.
She married Gerold L. Ferch in 1940.
She is survived by four sisters and four children: Tom Ferch and wife, Sandy of Bozeman; Bernie Ferch and wife, Mable of Beatty, Nev.; Beth Johnston of Great Falls; Eileen Rau and family of Glendive. She had nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She loved her family and was proud of her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and flowers and loved family get-togethers, mountains, and her church.
Services will be March 4 at 2 p.m. at First Alliance Church on the corner of 19th Street West and Central Avenue.

Richard J. Gruber
Richard J. Gruber, Jr., 44 of Billings died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at his home.
The son of Richard and Pearl (Ann) Gruber, he was born Oct. 18, 1954, in Sheridan, Wyo. He attended Slate Elementary School in Laramie, Wyo., and Broadwater School in Billings. While attending Lewis and Clark Junior High he excelled in wrestling and football. He graduated from Billings Senior in 1973. He enlisted in the Army in June 1973 and received a medical discharge in October 1973.
In 1977 Richard received a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Eastern Montana College. In 1978 he received an endorsement in Art and in 1981 an endorsement in Library Science. In 1983 he completed the drafting program at Billings Vocational Technical Center. In 1989 he completed his Master of Education in School Counseling.
Richard had taught Art and was Librarian at Grass Range, Fromberg, and Geyser. He was the Librarian at Reedpoint, and was a draftsman for Storm King Coal Mine, Roundup.
A talented artist, Richard enjoyed drafting, airbrushing, blueprint and map reading, photography, calligraphy, painting, drawing, studying astronomy and reading.
Survivors include his father Richard of Billings, two sisters, Cindy Lee Chambers (Cam), of Oregon, and Kimberly Mork (Dave) of Billings, a step-sister, Paula Courtney (Ryan) of Houston, Texas, brother-in-law Ken Hart of Oregon, six nieces and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister Cheryl Lynn Hart.
Cremation is planned. Vigil Services will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Michelotti, Sawyers and Nordquist Mortuary. Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Parish.
Memorials may be made to Human Services, Montana State University/Billings Foundation, or the charity of one's choice.
