Infant Camden Mitchell

Graveside services for 10 day old Camden Scott Mitchell will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, at Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. Rupert Ingram will officiate the service.
Camden was born
on April 29, 2016, in Jackson and died on May 10, 2016, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He is survived by his parents, Brandon and Joyce Mitchell of Clinton; his maternal grandparents, Stanny and Oiling Woo; paternal grandparents, Theresa Alldread Mitchell and Raymond Mitchell; and his paternal great-grandparents, F.O. and Annie B. Alldread and Jeanette Mitchell.
Visitation will be Saturday, from 3:00 p.m. until service time, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Billy C. Hodges
(May 4, 1925 - September 15, 2016)
Funeral services for Mr. Billy C. Hodges of Kilmichael will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19, at Kilmichael United Methodist Church in Kilmichael, with burial following in Friendship cemetery in Kilmichael. Rev. William Johnson will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 18, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Hodges, 91, passed away at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona on Thursday, September 15, 2016. He was born
in Montgomery County on May 4, 1925. He was a retired farmer, timber buyer, grocer and rural mail carrier. Mr. Hodges was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Big Black Masonic Lodge and Kilmichael United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Mansker Hodges; and his parents, William Carey Hodges and Brownye Garrett Hodges Smith.
Mr. Hodges is survived by one daughter, Dr. Rebecca Hodges and her husband, Lane Greenlee, of Kilmichael; one son, David C. Hodges and his wife, Janet, of Aberdeen; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kilmichael United Methodist Church or to the Friendship cemetery Fund.
Flay Vance
(January 30, 1943 - February 12, 2008)
Funeral services for Flay Vance of Winona are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, February 14, at North Winona Baptist Church in Winona, with Rev. Rusty Fair and Rev. Ed McDaniel officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery in Winona.
Mrs. Vance died of cancer on Tuesday, February 12, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood. She was 65.
Mrs. Vance was the daughter of the late Lester and Essie Maude Cook James. She was a retired employee of Anel Corporation in Winona and a member of North Winona Baptist Church in Winona.
Survivors include her husband, Vick C. Vance of Winona; two daughters, Tammy Sutton of West and Linda Ruth Strong of Madison; three sisters, Polly Horne of Sallis, Nancy Scoggins of Winona, and Nora Story of Kosciusko; four brothers, Thomas James of Zama, Henry James of Drew, Howard James of Kilmichael, and Jeff James of Winona; five grandchildren, Molly Sutton, Jake Sutton, Noah Sutton, Lisa Clark, and Natalie Hutto; and one great-grandchild, Kennedy Clare Hutto.
Pallbearers will be Randy Watkins, Maury Hull, Artie Reed, Kenneth Ray Noah, Lynn Chambley, and Mac Ables. Honorary pallbearers are Skeet Kendrick, Shannon Shivel, Randy Sutton, Jason Clark, Jeremy Hutto, and Charles Strong.
Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Melissa Hovas Bennett
(April 11, 1960 - April 9, 2008)
Funeral services for Melissa Hovas Bennett of Kilmichael are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, at Kilmichael Baptist Church in Kilmichael, with interment following in the Poplar Springs cemetery near Kilmichael. Rev. Gary Jackson will officiate the services. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 11, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Kilmichael Baptist Church in Kilmichael.
Mrs. Bennett, 47, died of cancer on Wednesday, April 9, at Kilmichael Hospital in Kilmichael. She was a homemaker and caregiver, and a member of Kilmichael Baptist Church and the Full Plate Women's Ministry.
Mrs. Bennett is survived by her husband, Lawrence Bennett of Kilmichael; daughter, Trisha Bennett of Kilmichael; parents, D. D. and Ruth Lott Hovas of Kilmichael; and brother, Allen Hovas and his wife, Melinda, of Ackerman.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Lott, Trent Lott, Keith Lott, Jim Caulder, Marshall Bennett, Larry Bennett, and Donald Bennett. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Full Plate Women's Ministry, members of the Ruth Sunday School of Kilmichael Baptist Church, Ray Lott, Britt Lott, Craig Caulder, and Rande Moon.

W. E. "Buck" Hedgepeth
(November 18, 1927 - June 7, 2008)
Funeral services for W. E. "Buck" Hedgepeth of Winona are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, at First Baptist Church in Winona, with burial following in Shelton cemetery in Copiah County. Dr. Phillip Dancy and Rev. John L. Walker will officiate the services. Visitation will be Monday, June 9, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Hedgepeth died of cancer on Saturday, June 7, at his residence in Winona.
He was 80 years old.
Mr. Hedgepeth was the son of the late William Everette Hedgepeth and Margie Williams Hedgepeth. He was a retired MP&L equipment operator and an avid gardener. He was a member and former deacon of First Baptist Church in Winona, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and a veteran of the Mississippi Army National Guard, serving on the Guard Rifle Team.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Lena Shelton Hedgepeth of Winona; two daughters, Linda Caulder of Winona and Celia Graham and husband Brad of Winona; two sons, Shelton Hedgepeth of Thornton and Joey Hedgepeth and wife Libby of Winona; one brother, Johnny Hedgepeth and wife Wanda of Florence; eleven grandchildren, Robbie Hedgepeth and wife Carla of Kosciusko, Rodney Hedgepeth of Houston, TX, Alisha Rushing and husband Craig of Madison, Stephen Caulder of Winona, Marjorie Caulder of Memphis, TN, Jill Leverette and husband Laine of Grenada, Joel Whitfield of Charleston, SC, Julie Whitfield of Winona, Jeffrey Whitfield of Winona, Will Hedgepeth of Winona, and Shelley Hedgepeth of Winona; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Leverette, Anna Beth Hedgepeth, Parker Rushing, and Campbell Leverette; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacon Body and Men's Bible Class of First Baptist Church, James Robertson, Billy Carpenter, Lloyd Hood, James Lowery, Perry Roark, James Lawrence, Ben Tharp, Tommy McDaniel, and Sid Small.

Roy Maxwell Rucker
(September 21, 1918 - October 26, 2008)
Funeral services for Mr. Roy Maxwell Rucker of Winona are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, at Oliver Chapel in Winona, with interment in Friendship cemetery in Kilmichael. Rev. Gary Jackson will officiate the service. There will be no services at graveside. A visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Rucker died of heart failure on Sunday, October 26, 2008, at Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital in Winona. He was 90 years old.
Mr. Rucker was the son of the late Percy Lee Rucker and the late Mary Katherine Greer Rucker. He was a retired employee of Delta Airlines and a member of Kilmichael Baptist Church in Kilmichael. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first and second wives, and two grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter, Peggy Rucker Butler of Lilburn, Georgia; three stepdaughters, Burnadette Braswell of Winona, Donna Mobley of Hernando, and Naomi Jones of Ferriday, Louisiana; stepson, Murry Greenlee of Kilmichael; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kilmichael Baptist Church Building Fund.
Tommie Dean Evans
(January 9, 1915 - May 18, 2009)
Funeral services for Mrs. Tommie Dean Evans of Winona will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 21, at New Hope United Methodist Church in Winona, with burial following in New Hope cemetery.
Rev. Larry Creel will officiate the services. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 20, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Evans died at her residence on Monday, May 18, 2009. She was 94 years old.
Mrs. Evans was the daughter of the late Tom and Pearl Collins Johnson, and the widow of the late Charles R. Evans. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Winona. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Landis Hodges; and four brothers, Wade Johnson, Travis Johnson, Bill Johnson, and Elmo Johnson.
Survivors include one brother, Fred Johnson of Winona; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Don Hodges, Charlie Fisk, Bert Mitchell, John Johnson, Brad Johnson, and David Johnson.
Otha Burns
(July 4, 1917 - November 19, 2010)
Funeral services for Otha Burns of Winona will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23, at the Winona Church of Christ, with burial following in the Poplar Creek Nations cemetery near Kilmichael. Bro. Mark Dillman, assisted by Bro. Craig Owen, will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Monday, November 22, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home; and on Tuesday, November 23, from 1:00 until service time at the church.
Mr. Burns died of heart failure at Vaiden Community Living Center in Vaiden on Friday, November 19, 2010. He was 93 years old.
Mr. Burns was the son of the late Oliver and Martha Burchfield Burns. He was a retired truck driver and construction worker and a U.S. Army veteran.
He was an active member of the Winona Church of Christ. Mr. Burns was an avid gardener and handyman, and he loved to tinker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Martha Burns; two sisters, Eva Cochran and Flora Johnson; and three brothers, Odell, Amzie, and Wayne Burns.
Survivors include his wife, Kitty Burns of Winona; two daughters, Joyce Burrell of Vaiden and Geraldine Smith (Robert E.) of Charleston, SC; one son, Mike Burns (Debbie) of Memphis, TN; one brother, Davis Burns (Vivian) of Fayette, AL; seven grandchildren, Mike Burns Jr., Kevin C. Burns, Joseph Burrell, Steven Burrell, Kenneth Burrell, Christy Davis, and William Smith; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Center or to the Winona Church of Christ.
Richard Emanuel Pogue
(October 5, 1952 - October 3, 2011)
Funeral services for Richard Emanuel Pogue of Harahan, Louisiana, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in the Huntsville Church of Christ cemetery near French Camp.
Mr. Craig Owen will officiate the services.
Visitation will be on Saturday, from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Pogue died of heart failure on Monday, October 3, at Tulane University Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. He was 58 years old.
Mr. Pogue was the son of the late Noel Manuel and Carolyn Malone Pogue. He was a carpenter and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his sister, Sherron Pogue of River Ridge, LA; and two brothers, Michael Pogue and Phillip Pogue, both of Harahan, LA; and three nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Bill Herring, Brooks Jones, Darrell Pogue, Steven Nixon, Blake Herring, and David Menhel.
Erna Hildegard Bennett
(April 21, 1926 - November 11, 2014)
Funeral services for Mrs. Erna Hildegard Bennett of McCarley will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the New Hope Methodist Church cemetery near Winona. Rev. Randy Bridges will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bennett, 88, died of heart failure at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood on Tuesday, November 11. She was born
in Germany on April 21, 1926, to the late Richard and Clara Lehman Schiller. She was a homemaker and a member of the German Protestant Church. Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her husband, Talmadge Bennett; her parents; and a sister, Gertrud Grisebach.
Survivors include four special nieces, Denise Hollingsworth of Pearl, Hildegard Elliott of Omaha, NE, Phyllis Denton of Pearl, Jennifer Barnett of Pearl; several nieces and nephews in Germany; and a close friend, Pamela Hillis of McCarley.
