in Clovis, N.M. He worked as a boat mechanic for Columbus Marine. He was a Mason, Shriner, and a member of the Sons of American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Morris Jr. and Hazel Jones Morris and grandparents, Henry and Olean Jones and John and Emma Roebuck. He is survived by his fiance, Ann Pate of Aberdeen; daughter Kristal Etchart of Tucson, Ariz.; sons, Adam and Michael Roebuck and Eddie Cunningham, all of Tucson; sisters, Donna Baucom of Aberdeen, Sandy Chilcott of Chandler, Ariz., Sherri Langdon and Susie Greiner, both of Tucson; brothers, Charles E. Roebuck Jr. of Tucson, Jerry Carl Morris of Aberdeen, David, Danny and Buddy Roebuck, all of Tucson; and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers are J. C. Robinson, Daniel Sistrunk, Eddie Cunningham, Shawn Roebuck, Brian Roebuck, Michael Roebuck, Adam Roebuck, Donnie Roebuck, and Jonathan Morris.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Shelton; parents; and a brother, Sam Cox Jr. She is survived by her sons, Charlie Shelton Jr. of West Point, Sammie D. Shelton of St. Louis, Mo., James A., Frederick, and Roy Shelton, all of West Point; daughters, Ruth Ledbetter of West Point, Lizzie Nichols of Indianola, Iowa, Canary Williams of West Point; 33 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anderson Tate. She is survived by her children, Johnny Washington of Chicago, Anderson Tate Jr. and Rufus Tate, both of Columbus, Shirley Williams and Fredrick Tate of Columbus, Margaret Hill of Covington, Ga.; brother, John Jamison of Columbus; 22 grandchildren and eight grandchildren.
Louise Buckner
In Starkville, MS, on Tuesday, September 21, 2010, Louise Murphy Buckner, 89, was received home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A funeral “Celebration of Louise Buckner’s Life” will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Calvary Baptist Church, Starkville, MS. Rev. Dr. Don Imgrund will officiate. 62 years), Ed Buckner; father, Luther Marion Murphy; mother, Lula Snellings Murphy; two sisters, Olene and Eunice Murphy; one brother, William “Fred” Murphy; and her daughter, Barbara Buckner Tyree. She is survived by five sons, Ed Buckner, Jr. (Tricia), Donald Buckner (MaryBob) and Johnny Buckner (Debbie) from Starkville along with William “Bill” Buckner (Patti) from Madison, MS, and Joe Buckner (Suzanne) from Brandon, MS. There are 24 grandchildren and 43 great-grand children with 2 more on the way. When the Buckner clan gets together with their spouses there are over 100 people for whom Louise has been “Mom-ma, ” the Loving Matriarch. Louise Buckner exemplified a life welllived. Respected as a faithful Christian wife and mother, she was also a poet, wonderful cook, gardener, teacher, writer, musician, foreign missions advocate and student of the Bible. After Ed’s retirement from Mississippi State University as Director of Support Services for 40 years, Ed and Louise lived and served as missionaries for an extended time at a Boy’s Vocational School in Belize, Central America. Returning to base from Starkville, they then traveled to Asia, Central America and Europe, visiting and serving alongside their children in foreign missions. Louise’s passion for foreign missions and her loving care for those hurting around her were contagious. It is a living tribute to Louise that all six of her children, and many of her grandchildren and great-grand children have served in Christian ministry and community service around the world. She is survived by her father; children, Daryel Lavender and Nicole Lavender Congious, both of Columbus; sisters, Wanda J. Lavender, Laverne L. on Saturday, January 20, 1923 in Mountrose, MS to the late George and Johnnie Hollingsworth Humphreys. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a homemaker. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Addis Roberson; her sons, Louis and Murphy Roberson and grandson Tyler Roberson. Survivors include one daughter, Patti Cooper (J.T.) of Columbus, MS; one son, Joe Ray Roberson, Columbus, MS; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. in West Point to the late Bedford and Ethel Shepherd. He worked as a Carpenter with Carpenter’s Union 232 for 58 years. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Shepherd; second wife, Eliza Jane Shepherd; son, Bennie Shepherd Jr.; and many brothers and sisters. He is survived by his daughters, Connie Caldwell and Marlene Craib; son, Harold Shepherd; and sister, Helen Stout, all of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
