Katherine Baskin Stoker
(November 19, 1918 - November 27, 2014)
Funeral services for Katherine Baskin Stoker of Winona will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 1, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. Clayton Crouch, Rev. Fletcher Moorman, and Dr. Sidney Thompson will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Monday, from noon until service time, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stoker, 96, died of heart failure at her home on Thursday, November 27.
She was born
on November 19, 1918, to the late James Thomas and Ellen Sullivan Baskin. She was the widow of the late Martin Percy Stoker. Mrs. Baskin was a homemaker, a former employee of J. A. Olson Company, and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church near Duck Hill. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ellen Kramer and Louise Jones; and her brother, John L. Baskin.
Mrs. Baskin is survived by her son, James B. Stoker of Little Rock, Arkansas; two grandsons, Brian Stoker and Dean Stoker, both of Little Rock, Arkansas; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Steven Stoker, Cecil Kirk Jr., Chris Adams, Robert Adams, Maurice Ferguson, and Bill Tubbs. Honorary pallbearers will be Garland Collins, Harold Mitchell, and Claude Pullen.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Mrs. Baskin's caregivers, Shirley Palmertree, Polly Gillon, and Jennifer James.
Robert E. "Doc" Mitchell
(September 20, 1933 - April 21, 2015)
Funeral services for Robert E. "Doc" Mitchell of Winona will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, at Moore Memorial United Methodist Church in Winona, with burial following in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. Rusty Keen will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 22, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., in the Family Life Center of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mr. Mitchell, 81, died at his residence on Tuesday, April 21. He was born
in Montgomery County on September 20, 1933, to the late D. T. and Hattie Pearson Mitchell. He was the retired owner of Ace Linen and a U. S. Army veteran. Mr. Mitchell was a member of Moore Memorial United Methodist Church and the American Legion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Nowell Defenbaugh; and two sisters, Margie Bowie and Retha Mae Reynolds.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Joan J. Mitchell of Winona; three daughters, Regina Mitchell Ingram of Winona, Melissa Mitchell King of Winona, and Dawn Mitchell Yeoman of Winona; one son, Bert Mitchell of Winona; one brother, Pete Mitchell of Jackson; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mitch King, Carl Mitchell, Matthew Griffin, Ben Ingram, Wesley Beardain, Bill Defenbaugh, Guy Stanford Jr, and Robbie Mitchell.
Memorial contributions may be made to LeBonheur Children's Hospital or to New Hope Methodist Church Family Life Center.
Saxon Wray "Pete" Kirk
(July 19, 1928 - December 29, 2015)
Pete Kirk, 87, Command Sergeant Major MSARNG Retired, died Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2016 at Oliver Funeral Home in Winona. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 2, at 2:00 p.m. at Oliver chapel. Reverend Ken Armstrong is officiating and burial will follow at Duck Hill cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Kirk was born
July 19, 1928 in Inverness to the late Julian Wray and Lois Pearl Kirk. He retired from the US Army and National Guard, Civil Service and The State of Mississippi. He received seventeen medals and decorations during his military service. Mr. Kirk was a member of the North Winona Baptist Church, American Legion, VFW, and the Masons – Binford Lodge #616. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Lemoyne Kirk Basinger, and brother, Billy Kirk.
He is survived by his wife, Deanna Collins Kirk of Winona; son, Kendall S. Kirk of Starkville; brother, Dynamite Kirk of Grenada; sisters, Maxine Ezell of Grenada, Temple Cochran of Greenville, and Rose Bowman of Greenwood; grandson, Ronnie Clardy; two great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Clardy, Troy Mitchell, R.B. King, Benny Chambley, Tim McBride, and Lawrence Braswell. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Herod, Carlton Parsons, Chuck Sheffield, John Basinger, Skeet Kendrick, and Garland Collins

E. C. Matthews
(May 20, 1926 - May 20, 2016)
Funeral services for E. C. Matthews will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 23 in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in the Scotland Baptist Church cemetery in Winona. Rev. Jack Marshall will officiate the services.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 23 at Oliver Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until service time.
Mr. Matthews, 90, died on Friday, May 20, 2016 at Maplewood Healthcare in Jackson, TN. He was born
to the late L. C. and Louise Reeves Matthews on May 20, 1926 near Moorhead, MS. He worked as a mechanic and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing music. He was also a veteran of the US Army and a member of Scotland Baptist Church in Winona.
Mr. Matthews is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine “Polly” Branch Matthews; his son, Edward C. Matthews, Jr of Jackson, TN; three sisters, Mary Swarthout of Salem, OR, Frances Bilbo of Hope, AR, and June Drake of Pearl; four brothers, Taylor Matthews of Jackson, TN, Bobby Lee Matthews of Kentucky, Claude Matthews of Jackson, TN, and Jerry Matthews of Clarksville, TN; two grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Fred Matthews and Richard Matthews.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Branch, Eric Branch, Chris Branch, Danny Haven, Dewitt Branch, and Jonas Matthews.

Bonnie Lavelle Matthews Collins
(May 6, 1922 - February 23, 2008)
Funeral services for Mrs. Bonnie Lavelle Matthews Collins of Winona are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, at Oliver Chapel in Winona.
Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. David Rogers and Rev. Rusty Fair will offficiate the services. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Collins died of cancer at her residence on February 23, 2008. She was 85.
Mrs. Collins was the daughter of the late Arthur Lee Matthews and the late Ada Elma Moorehead Matthews. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Winona and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her husband, James L. Collins of Winona; three daughters, Barbara Collins of Winona, Deborah Miller and her husband Dennis of Winona, Bonnie Jo Collins of Grenada; two sons, James Michael Collins and his wife Linnie of Savannah, Georgia, Larry Collins and his wife Judy of Winona; two sisters, Pauline Collins of Lake Cormorant, Christine Watson and her husband Robert of Walnut; three brothers, Calvin Matthews and his wife Rosa of Lake Cormorant, Harley Matthews and his wife Mary of Winona, Gene Matthews and his wife Dorothy Sue of Greenville; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Collins, Christopher Miller, Daniel Collins, Shannon Collins, Myron Collins, Tommy Matthews, Edward Watson, Art Matthews, and Murray Mills. Billie Earl Britt
(August 15, 1938 - October 8, 2008)
Funeral services for Billie Earl Britt of Nesbit will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10, at Oliver Chapel, with burial following in Oakwood cemetery in Winona. Rev. John Miller, assisted by Dell Stafford, will officiate the services. Visitation will be Thursday, October 9, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Britt died of complications from heart and kidney failure on Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Southaven.
He was 70 years old.
Mr. Britt was the son of the late Evans Britt and the late Gradye Opal Henson Britt. He was a member of the Winona Masonic Lodge and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Southaven.
Survivors include his wife, Linda B. Britt of Nesbit; three daughters, Melanie Cox of Louisville, Kentucky, Natalie South of Southaven, and Mandy Armstrong of Hernando, one sister, Dorothy Doster of Winona; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Albert Britt, Kenny Britt, James Britt, Cecil Ray Britt, Ranny Henson, and Thomas Austin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation or to the American Heart Association.
Lilly Belle Frazier
(May 13, 1932 - November 6, 2010)
Funeral services for Lilly Belle Frazier of Memphis, Tennessee, formerly of Duck Hill, will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, at Oliver Chapel in Winona, with burial following in the Red Hill cemetery near Duck Hill. Visitation will be at Oliver Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m.
Miss Frazier died at her residence on Saturday, November 6, 2010. She was 78 years old.
Miss Frazier was the daughter of the late Guy and Jodie Caffey Frazier.
She was a retired employee of Nunnery Cleaners in Memphis and a member of Red Hill Church of Christ near Duck Hill.
Survivors include one son, Joseph Paul Frazier of Memphis; two sisters, Mary Helon Telford of Nesbit and Ruby Armstrong of Batesville; and several nieces and nephews.
Bobby B. Williams
April 2, 1934 - September 13, 2011
Graveside funeral services for Bobby B. Williams of Winona will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, at the Winona Garden of Memory, with burial following. Rev. Reidis Nash will officiate the service.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams died of respiratory failure at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital in Brandon on Tuesday, September 13. He was 77 years old.
Mr. Williams was the son of the late E. B. and Pearl Killings Williams.
He was a retired employee of the Mississippi State Highway Department. Mr. Williams was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the VFW. He accepted Christ as his Savior on September 8, 2011.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Williams of Winona; daughter, Debbie Williams Brewer of Wayne County, MS; son, Steve Williams and his wife, June Smith Williams, of Winona; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Cody Davis, Chuck Thomas, Joey Richardson, Greg Shute, James "Smitty" Smith, and Brent Richardson.
Eleanor M. Parker
(August 14, 1926 - November 21, 2014)
Eleanor McCoy Parker, 88, of Winona, died Friday, November 21, 2014 at her residence. Visitation will be Monday, November 24, 2014 from 10 a.m. until service time at New Hope United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at New Hope United Methodist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
Reverend Rusty Keen will be officiating the services.
Mrs. Parker was born
in Montgomery County on August 14, 1926 to the late Percy Herbert and Alice Lucille McCoy. She worked with Bellsouth as a telephone operator until her retirement. Mrs. Parker was a faithful member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
Mrs Parker is preceded in death by her husband, Tillman Leon Parker; her parents; and one brother, William Herbert McCoy
Mrs. Parker is survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Parker Daves of Winona; several nieces and nephews; along with a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be John Johnson, Paul Alison, Michael Vail, James Morris Biggers, Reid Biggers, and Larry Randle.
Memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church.
Bertha M. Miller
(December 9, 1940 - April 16, 2015)
Funeral services for Bertha M. Miller of Vaiden will be at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17, in the Oliver Funeral Home Chapel, with burial following in Old Plank cemetery near Vaiden. Rev. John Fortenberry will officiate the services.
Visitation will be Friday, from 2:00 p.m. until service time, at Oliver Funeral Home.
Mrs. Miller, 74, died of heart failure at Greenwood Leflore Hospital in Greenwood on Thursday, April 16. She was born
in Arkansas on December 9, 1940, to Callie and Bertha Smith Cossey. She was a retired restaurant manager and a former citrus worker and janitorial service employee. She was of the Pentecostal faith and loved to fish, travel, and cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James "Jimmy" Cease; brother, Billy Cossey; and stepson, Jerry Miller.
She is survived by her husband, R. W. "PeeWee" Miller; daughters, Alma Gonzalez, Thelma Parker (Paul), Barbara Figueroa; sons, Edward Taylor (Debra), Delmer Taylor, Donald Cossey; stepdaughter, Clara Weeks (Jimmy); stepsons, Dennis Miller (Deborah) and Chesler Miller (Vicky); sisters, Deney Tarber and Agie Chappell; brother, Johnny Cossey; 42 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
