Goodin
Roger A. Goodin, 70, died Saturday April 14, 2006, in Pascagoula, Miss. He was born icon April 7, 1936, in Noxapater, Miss.
Mr. Goodin was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of First Baptist Church in Moss Point, Miss. He had worked for Mississipi Chemical 29 years and for Morton Electronics for 10 years before retiring. Mr. Goodin also had recieved his private pilot license, of which he was so proud.
He was prceded in death by his parents; Russell Lee and Viola Ray Goodin.
Survivors include his wife; Glenda Lang Goodin of Moss Point; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandia and Wayne Hampton of Panama Ciy Beach, Fla.; four step-sons and their wives, David and Gloria Lang of Gautier, Miss., Mark and Marcia Lang of St.Mary's, Ga., Benjamin and Jessica Lang of Kingsland, Ga., Timothy and Amanda Lang of St. Mary's, Ga.
He also has four step-grandchildren, Tiffany Nicole Lewis of Gautier, Miss., Savannah Leigh Lang, Anabelle Rose Lang and Camden Mark Lang, all of St.Mary's.
His former wife Joyce Cunningham Richard also suvives him.
The funeral service will be Monday, April 17, 2006, at noon from the First Baptist Church in Moss Point with Dr. Adrian Pater and Rev. Michael Perry officiating. Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Griffin cemetery in Moss Point.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Collins, Joe Moore, David Lang, Mark Lang, Benjamin Lang and Timothy Lang.
Holder-Wells in charge of arrangements.

Johnson
Mary Ella "Matey" Johnson was born icon to the union of the late Robert Lee Johnson Sr. and the late Nellie Jimerson Johnson on October 5, 1956, in Gulfport, Miss. She later moved to Gautier, Miss.
Mary was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. She received Christ on August 13, 2005, under the direction of Charles A. McKinney, pastor of Jesus Christ Baptist Church.
"Matey" was a former member of the ILA softball team. She was formally employed by Emerald Beach Hotel. She loved helping people, never met a stranger and loved her family and friends. Mary departed her life April 11, 2006, at her home in Gautier at the age of 49.
She was preceded in death by both her parents, and one brother, Willie H. Johnson.
She is survived by one son, Jerome Lee Johnson of Gautier; three sisters, Myrtis (Joe) Hendricks, Ophur (Charlie) Johnson and Georgia (Ray) Wright of Gautier; four brothers, Cliff Jones of Hickory, Miss., Ervin (Rose) Smith of New Orleans, La., Frank R. (Sarah) Smith of Oklahoma City, Okla., Robert Katherine) Johnson, Jr. of Avondale, La; and three grandchildren, Jerome Lee Johnson, Jr. of Jackson, Miss., Dearion Johnson of Gautier, and T' Marcus Johnson of Gautier.
She is also survived by Tabitha Eptin, the daughter-in-law she would have wanted, and a host of nieces nephews other loved ones and friends.
Services will be 11a.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Good Deeds Community Center in Gulfport where Rev. Charley A. McKenney, pastor of Jesus Christ Baptist Church will deliver the eulogy. Visitation will be at the center two hours prior to service time. Burial will follow at Monroe Memorial Park.
Care of our sister is entrusted only to the professionalism of Marshall Funeral Home.

MAHAFFEY
Mary Elizabeth Mahaffey, born icon in Atlanta, Ga., June 21, 1914, passed away March 6, 2006, in Kansas City, Mo. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Irene Johnson Mahaffey of Pascagoula, Miss., who were both newspaper professionals, beginning their careers with the Atlanta Journal in the early 1900s. Mr. Mahaffey was the managing editor of the Chronicle Star in Pascagoula-Moss Point during the early WWII years.
Mrs. Mahaffey was an honor graduate of Meridian, Miss., High School in 1932. She worked as a book-keeper for the then Biloxi News, and later became an accountant with an Atlanta firm. In the early 1950's she became involved with the Christian Business and Professional Women's Council there. A few years later she joined the staff of Stonecroft Ministries in Kansas City, Mo., an international, nonsectarian, Christian organization devoted to helping establish religious study groups and ministries, primarily in third world countries and a small-town America. Miss Mahaffey was a member of several Corporate Boards and was Vice-President and Corporate Treasurer of Stonecroft, Inc. She reluctantly retired from her business activities in 2001 at the age of 87, but maintained her residence at the Stonecroft complex in Kansas City until her death at 92.
As an individual, Mary lived her Christian beliefs. A red-headed, freckle-faced Irish lady, she was a personal, vivacious, a friend to all and loved by many, with a warm smile and an impish sense of humor. As a worker, Mary an avid learner all of her life, studiously mastering complex business situations, persistent and effective in her efforts, and sincerely devoted to her religious beliefs. Her finest gratification was being able to combine her daily labors with her religious service to build a career.
Miss Mahaffey is survived by her brothers, Richard Marvin of Joliet, Ill., a professional photographer who had a studio in Moss Point following WWII; Robert Bright of Camp Hill, Pa., an experienced seaman who was a quality engineer for the Navy at Ingalls shipyard and several other U.S. locations; her sister, Mrs. Helene Drohon, a retiree as a civilian from work with the Navy, and now a resident of the Plaza Center; a brother, Daniel Eugene, a retiree from management at Eastman Kodak Co. and now a resident of Salt Lake City, Utah; and John Jefferson, a retiree from the Navy now residing in Alabama.
Memorial services celebrating Miss Mahaffey's life were held in Kansas City. She will be interred April 20, 2006, at Machpelah cemetery by O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home following a brief graveside ceremony at 10 a.m. by Reverend Bruce Taylor of the Pascagoula First United Methodist Church. Memorial donations to the church in her name would be appropriate.

PARKS
Jason Daniel Parks, age 34, of Lucedale, Miss., died Sunday, April 9, 2006, in Hayden, Colo., while working at Xcel Energy Station. Jason was born icon March 8, 1972, in Pascagoula, Miss. He was united in marriage to Dawn Wendt on Aug. 13, 2005.
Jason was a true man of God who loved life but most of all loved the Lord and serving him. He was a active member of Riverside Full Gospel Church where he played the drums for the worship team. He also taught Sunday school class for the younger children.
Jason leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Dawn Wendt Parks of Lucedale; his loving daughter, Keirstyn Wendt of Lucedale; his mother, Judy Parks of Lucedale; one sister, Jennifer Parks of Jackson, Miss.; one brother, Wesley (Hayley) Parks of Lucedale; and mother-in-law, Maxine Cochran of Lucedale. A host of many other family members and friends.
Jason is preceded in death by his father, Winston Parks, and grandparents, Willie and Eva Bell Ward.
Visitation was Friday night April 14, 2006, at Riverside Full Gospel Church from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Crossroads Free Pentecostal cemetery.

NASH
Mr. Willie H. Nash, 78, of Moss Point, Miss., went home to his Heavenly Father on April 12, 2006, at his home after a long illness.
He was born icon on July 3, 1927, in Philadelphia, Miss., to the union of Newton and Bertha Nash. He was preceded in death by his parents; eight sisters; three brothers; and a son, Charlie W. Davis, Sr.
Willie leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Bertha L. Nash; six daughters, devoted daughter, Hattie (Luther) Salter of Moss Point, Shirley (Billy) Davis of Houston, Texas, Wanda (Peter) Flutcher of Lake Providence, La., Mary Nash of Milwaukee, Wis., Debra Nash of Lake Providence and Adell Nash of Dayton, Ohio; eight sons, devoted son, Lamar (Vanilla) Davis of Moss Point, Willie Nash, Jr. of Pascagoula, Miss., Johnny Ray Nash of Lake Providence, La., Marvell Nash of Carthage, Miss., Isom Davis, John Davis both of Moss Point, Raster (Faye) Davis of Birmingham, Ala., Hosea (CeCelia) Davis of Vicksburg, Miss.; one sister, Ann Nash of Florida; a devoted granddaughter, Tresyla Davis; devoted great-grandson, Jonathan Barnett; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be held from noon-2 p.m., Saturday, April 15, 2006, at Good Hope Baptist Church in Moss Point, Miss.
Funeral Services will begin promptly at 2 p.m. at the church.
Interment will be in Good Hope cemetery, Escatawpa, Miss.

PATRICK
Lala Bell Patrick, age 94, of Moss Point and formerly of Pascagoula died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, in Big Point, Miss. She was born icon Aug. 19, 1911, in Collins, Miss., and has been a resident of Jackson County, Miss. since 1962.
She was a former long-time member of Parkway Baptist Church in Pascagoula and former employee of Senior Citizens Center, Law Library Office, and C.A.N.D.Y. Program. She retired in 1993 at the age of 82.
Mrs. Patrick is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Edward Allen Patrick; grandson, Jeff Harris; three brothers, Woodrow, Rosco, and Ralph Harris; three sisters, Ethel Bridges; Bonnie Morgan, and Willie Mae Raley.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane Harris (James), Moss Point; son and daughter-in-law, Edward E. Patrick (Medora), Indian Spring, Nev.; two sisters, Polly Burnside (Clay), Nell Austin (Roger); brother, Billy Harris (Marian); sister-in-law, Clarice Harris; granddaughter, Deanna Harris Perry; grandson, Allen Patrick (Melissa); great-granddaughter, Isabelle Patrick.
Visitation will be Friday, April 14, 2006, from 6 until 8 p.m. at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 15, 2006, 2 p.m., at Ott-Lee Funeral Home, Forest, Miss. with Rev. Billy Bailey officiating.
Interment will follow at Eastern cemetery in Forest, Miss.

SHELTON
Mr. Robert Sherman (Bobby) Shelton, 56, a native of Moss Point, Miss., and a long time resident of Mobile, Ala., departed this life on Monday, April 20, 2006, at Providence Hospital. He was born icon to Charles and Catherine Shelton on June 23, 1949. He was a long time member of Aimwell Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Sergeant Charles C. Shelton, Sr. and a brother, Charles C. Shelton, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memories a very devoted companion, Annie Howard of 16 years, wife, Josie Shelton; one daughter, Tawanna Taylor of Mobile; five sons, Robert S. Shelton, Jr. of Moss Point, Miss., Shedrick Taylor, Sherman Shelton, Lil Bobby Shelton and Ron Harris of Mobile, Ala.; a caring mother, Catherine Shelton; six sisters, Velma (Jerry) Scudder of Moss Point, Linda Shelton, Nekita and Tonya Shelton of Mobile, Sheila (John) Watson of Moss Point, Gracie (Eric) Ward of St. Louis, Mo., and Anita Dubose of Moss Point; two brothers, Howard (Johnnie) Shelton and Phillip (Patricia) Williams of Moss Point; a devoted aunt, Dianne Young of Pascagoula, Miss.; a host of grandchildren, great-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 15, 2006, from 9 until the 11 a.m. funeral hour at Aimwell Baptist Church, 500 Earl St. with Rev. Michael Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Prichard Memorial cemetery.

Matthew Douglas Hall, 3, of Gautier, Miss., was called to be an angel in Heaven on Monday, April 10, 2006. He was born icon Jan. 12, 2003, in Pascagoula.
Matthew is survived by his father and mother, Patrick and Jessica Hall of Gautier; two sisters, Meaghan and Morghan Hall of Gautier; a brother, Erick Marvin of Georgiana, Ala.; grandparents, Phillip and Patricia Hall of Columbia, S.C., Mary Lowe of Honoraville, Ala.; great grandparents, William K. "Bill" and Doris L. Hall of Gautier; uncles and aunts, Preston and Karen Hall of Thurmont, Md., Jason and Kristen Bunch of Honoraville, Ala., and Terry and Vicky Yates of Ellisville; great aunt, Christine Breazeale of Honoraville, Ala.; and cousins, Kris Hall, Kayla Hall, Will Hall, Selena Bunch, Sarah Bunch, T.J. Yates and Jamie Yates.
Visitation will be Friday, April 14, 2006, from 2 until 3 p.m. at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. M.L. McCormick officiating.
Interment will be held in Pine Crest cemetery in Gautier.

HAWKINS
Mr. Thomas Marion Hawkins, 69, of Forest, Miss., died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian, Miss.
Mr. Hawkins worked for Coca Cola in Laurel, Miss., for 35 years. In 1990, he and his wife Helen moved to Moss Point, Miss., where he worked for 10 years as Service Manager for Central Vending Company. He retired at age 62 and moved back to his old home place in Lorena, Miss. Retirement was not in his plan, so he went to work with the Senior Community Service Employment Program Forest Service USDA and he was honored as Senior of The Year for the State of Mississippi in 2005. Mr. Hawkins was an active member of the Lorena Baptist Church where he worked with the finance and maintenance committees and was on the board for the Homewood Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Hawkins of Lorena, Miss.; daughters, Kathy Lyon of Pearl, Miss., and her husband Neil, Kim Davis of St. George Island, Fla., and her husband Lou; step sons, Ken Morgan of Laurel, Miss., and his wife Vicky; step daughters, Vickie Walters of Laurel, Miss., and her husband, Danny, Debbie Morgan of Laurel, Miss.; brothers, Jerry Hawkins and his wife Frances of Lorena, Miss.; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 13, 2006, from 9 until 10 a.m. at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Lorena Baptist Church in Lorena, Miss. with burial in Lorena Baptist cemetery in Forest. Rev. Tommy Anderson and Rev. Eddie Bryant will be the officiating ministers.
Pallbearers will be Jack Breland, Danny Walters, Scotty Hawkins, Ronald Harris, Lambert Henderson and Terry Nickson.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Homewood Volunteer Fire Department.
Memorials may be made to Homewood Volunteer Fire Department.
