ROGERS
Mr. Johnnie Joseph Rogers, 93, died Monday morning at the Clearwater Assisted Living Facility in Vancleave, Miss.
Mr. Rogers, born
Aug. 11, 1910, was a lifelong resident of Escatawpa. Mr. Rogers had various careers in his lifetime beginning as a papermaker at International Paper Company in Kreole, a shipbuilder at Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula during World War II and venturing into his own business of cutting timber from 1948-1951. He returned to the paper mill to work until he started other businesses in Escatawpa, Helena and Vancleave, Miss., owning and operating laundromats until his retirement.
Mr. Rogers was an avid fisherman, taking his young family on numerous fishing trips in the Pascagoula and Esca-tawpa rivers and the Gulf of Mexico. As his family expanded to 10 grandsons, he taught each of them the finer points of fishing and the best places to fish.
Mr. Rogers was a deeply spiritual man who served his church, RLDS, well as a deacon and teacher for many years. He loved serving the Lord through visitation with those in need and the sick. Five of his children have emulated him by becoming ministers in the church: one an elder, two priests and two teachers. Two of his sons are pastors of churches.
Mr. Rogers was a superb gardener planting a garden every spring and fall of the year until the loss of his eyesight, and the love of his life, his wife, Lois, in 1993.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Nettie Frances Mizelle Rogers; his wife of 56 years, Lois Ivon Parker Rogers; four brothers, Linwood, Bruno, Edward and T.C. Rogers; two sisters, Elizabeth R. Greene, Augusta R. Stanley; and a grandson, Jeffery Clark.
He is survived by his children, John Earl Rogers, and wife, Gayle, Mary F. Rogers Regan and husband, Dr. David Regan, Shirley M. Rogers Rawlins and husband, Elmer, Joseph Eugene Rogers and wife, Carol, Jerry Clinton Rogers and wife, Debbie, Brenda N. Rogers Hiestand and husband, Donald, Rebecca A. Rogers Clark and husband, Jimmy, as well as 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2004, at the funeral home chapel with High Priest Donald Hamm officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to service time. Interment will follow at RLDS Church cemetery in Escatawpa.

FULGHUM
Charles Henry Fulghum, age 79, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, in Pascagoula, Miss. He was born
July 10, 1925, in Booneville, Miss. He was one of three sons of the late Clyde and Lila Fulghum. Immediately after graduation from Booneville High School in 1943.
Mr. Fulghum enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was in pilot training about half of his time in the service. With his military service over in 1945 he entered the University of Mississippi where he majored in statistics and was graduated in 1950 with his degree in business administration.
Mr. Fulghum had held nu-merous positions. His first job was with Mississippi Agriculture and Industrial Board (forerunner of Department of Economic Development) as a statistician. In 1951 he was employed with North Mississippi Industrial Development Association. Two years later he returned to the A&I Board as an industrial representative. Then he went with the Mississippi Manufacturing Association and rose to the position of executive vice president. Mr. Fulghum came to Pascagoula in 1965 as director of industrial relations for Ingalls Shipbuilding and advanced to vice president of industrial relations. Throughout his life he had held positions of statewide prominence in industrial, economic development, in industry and in a governmental agency. However, he probably is best known locally for the relatively short period of his working life that he was Pascagoula's city manager and the even briefer one as interim city manager of Gautier, Miss.
He was active in the Pascagoula Rotary Club and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula. Mr. Fulghum's longtime hobby was collecting cameras. He attended camera shows and he enjoyed hunting.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Hester Fulghum; his mother, Lila Beasley Fulghum; and one brother, Fred Eugene Fulghum.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Margaret Inman Fulghum of Pascagoula; two sons and daughters-in-law Charles Henry Fulghum Jr. (Patsy Mott Fulghum) of Rock-hill, S.C. Joseph Benjamin Fulghum (Kelly Reed Fulghum) of Colleyville, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Fulghum Speegle (Troy David Speegle) of Nice-ville, Florida; seven grandchildren, Phoebe Fulghum Green, Charles Anthony Fulghum, Katherine Fulghum, Anne Fulghum, Troy David Speegle Jr., James Henry Speegle and Josephine Lee Speegle; one great-grandchild, Isaiah Nathaniel Green; one brother and sister-in-law, David Clyde Fulghum (Jean Guest Fulghum) of Memphis, Tennessee; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, at Holder-Wells Funeral Home in Moss Point, Miss.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday July 27, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church. The Rev. Robert Kates and the Rev. John Ash will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be Charles Anthony Fulghum, Will Inman, Jim Grissom, Bill Matthews, David Posey, David Compton, Jack Womack and Allan Wiley.
Honorary pallbearers will be the officials of Pascagoula, Gautier, and Jackson County with whom he had served, and the men of First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula.
Interment will follow at Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula, Miss. Holder-Wells is in charge of arrangements.
MOORE
Mary Evelyn Harkey Moore, 65, Gautier, Miss. died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at her home. She was born
July 4, 1939 in Philadelphia, Miss., and has been a resident of Jackson County for 58 years.
She was a former employee of Wayne Lee's and Jerry Lee's in Pascagoula for 18 years and a former dispatcher for Gautier Volunteer Fire Department.
She was active in fund-raisers, campaigns and a political supporter. She will be remembered for her dedicated support to her family and friends and her ability to never meet a stranger. She enjoyed gardening and was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Annie Kate Harkey and Jessie Lynn Harkey. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Osie Ray Moore, Gautier; five daughters and two sons, Cheryl A. Wolverton, Gautier; Dale L. Roth (Debbie), Biloxi; Daryl L. Roth (Susie), Gautier; Lorretta M. Vaughn (Clark), Gautier; Rae Lynn Rouss (Larry), New Orleans, La.; Teresa A. Fitzgerald, Vancleave; Lisa G. Moore, Gautier; two brothers, Jessie N. Harkey, St. Catherine's, Canada; Eddie Mackie, Hurley, Miss.; three double cousins thought of as sisters, Louise Arnett (her husband, Travis), Alice Pitts and Mattie Ruth Kelly; 15 grandchildren, Melissa Dye, Chad Wolverton, Daniel Roth, Michael Roth, Jennifer Roth, Lillian Noble, Kelva Noble, Casey Vaughan, Corey Vaughan, Carrie Kegg, Jamie Ballard, Ray Ladnier, Lee Milligan, Brandi Page, and Kristen Page; and 12 great-grandchildren, Kara Wolverton, Anna Wolverton, Justin Dye, Bryan Dye, Rachel Rother, Baileigh Vaughan, Tori Ballard, Tera Kegg, Tabatha Toney, Darrian Roberts, Brianna Ladnier and Elijah Ladnier.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula, Miss. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula with Rev. Joe Digmon officiating.
Interment will be at Biloxi National cemetery, Biloxi, Miss.

J.D. ABSTON
Mr. J.D. Abston, 82, of Gautier, Miss., died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, in Gautier. He was born
April 20, 1922, in St. Stephens, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Blanks Abston; a son, James Abston; mother, Essie Coleman Ab-ston; father, James Abston Sr.; five brothers, Luke Abston, Eddie Abston, Edward Abston, Floyd Abston and Nathaniel Abston; and one sister, Ruby Lee Abston.
Mr. Abston is survived by eight daughters, Mary (George) Evans, Catherine Abston, Regina Abston, all of Gautier, Miss., Marsha Beans of Sacramento, Calif., Mammie (Henry) Clark of Rock Island, Ill., Ruth Hayes, Rose (Levi) George and Valeria Galloway of Pascagoula, Miss.; three sons, John (Shirley) Abston of Moss Point, Miss., Clifford Abston of Pascagoula, Joel Abston of Houston, Texas, a brother, Willie L. Abston of Moss Point; five sisters, Mrs. Ruth D. Howell of Mobile, Ala., Clara Goodlow, Daisy Dixon of Chicago, Ill, Leona (Charles) Ward and Rena (Charles) Parker of Sacramento, Calif.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, at Millender's Funeral Home Chapel, Moss Point, Miss.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at James Chapel Baptist Church in St. Stephens, Ala. with the Rev. Dell Atchinson officiating.
Interment will follow in James Chapel cemetery, St. Stephens.

LOGGINS
Mr. Andrew V. Loggins was born
Feb. 14, 1939, in Lodi, Miss. to the union of Andrew Loggins and Louisa Jordan Loggins.
He accepted Christ at an early age, joining the Piney Grove Baptist Church and later, after moving to the Coast, joined the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Moss Point, Miss. He worked faithfully in the church serving on the Usher Board until his health failed. Bro. Loggins was a compassionate and loving person, always helping those in need.
He departed this life on July 22, 2004. He was preceded in by his parents, Andrew and Louisa Loggins, and brother, Wade H. Loggins.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted wife, Pearl Loggins; one son, Joe Loggins of Moss Point, Miss.; two daughters, Beverly Allen of Little Rock, Arkansas and Barbara McKinley (Earl) of Europa, Miss.; five brothers, J.T. (Flora) Loggins, Zepedee (Mary Louise) Loggins, Martin Luther "Bob" (Emma) Loggins, all of Jackson, Miss., John Henry (Hattie) Loggins of Stark, Fla. and T.L. Lane of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three sisters, Mary Ann (Charlie) Lane of Houston, Miss., Mary Lee Carter and Careen of Winona, Miss.; one aunt, Vertha Loggins of Stark, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Jessie (Gloris) Berryhill of Europa, Miss.; one sister-in-laws, Earnesteen (Tommie) Mays of Gore Springs, Miss.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three devoted friends, Rod and Hazel Mimbs of Biloxi, Miss. and Dottie Ballis of Moss Point, Miss.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

SALLIE MAE ABSTON
Mrs. Sallie Mae Abston, 56, of Moss Point, Miss., died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, in New Orleans at the Ochsners Clinic. She was born
to Della Washington and the late Willie Washington on Nov. 29, 1947, in Grand Bay, Ala.
She was a loving and devoted wife of 37 years to Mr. Luke Abston Jr. and the best mother anyone could ask for of seven children. She joined Antioch Baptist Church in Three Rivers, Miss., to give herself to the Lord until her time of sickness years ago.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Willie Washington; two sisters, Gloria Washington and Lula Gordon; and a brother, Marvin Washington.
She leaves to cherish, forever, a loving husband, Mr. Luke Abston Jr.; her mother, Ms. Della Washington; four sons, James (Wanda) Bishop of Slidell, La., Luke (Kimberly) Abston III of Smyrna, Ga., Lawrence (Erika) Abston of Des Moines, Iowa, and Vinston Abston of Moss Point; three daughters, Brenda Bishop of Moss Point, Laverne Abston of Biloxi and Sallie T. Abston of Moss Point; five sisters, Dianne (Darry) Allen of Grand Bay, Martha Washington of Pascagoula, Retha Washington of Pascagoula, Ethel (Eddie) Henry of Detroit, Mich. and Regina Washington Barnett of Gautier; four brothers, Willie Washington of Pascagoula, Walter Washington of Moss Point, Claude (Darlene) Fair of Grand Bay and Willie (Annie) C.; three devoted friends, Kathryn Lampley of Biloxi, Theresa Barnes and Octavia Stallworth, both of Moss Point; 13 grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at the Antioch Baptist Church in Three Rivers with the funeral proceeding afterward. Pastor C.V. Taylor will be officiating.
Interment will be at Scranton cemetery in Pascagoula, Miss. Services of love entrusted by Millender's Funeral in Moss Point.
WENDT
Kenneth Charles Wendt, 69, of Gautier, Miss., died July 21, 2004, at his residence. Mr Wendt was born
Sept. 17, 1934, in Murdo, South Dakota. He retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service and worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding as a training specialist before retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Ocean Springs, Miss. He was also a member of the BPO Elks Lodge 1120, and served as Past Exalted Ruler, Scholarship Chairman and Bingo Chairman. He was a former member of the Gautier Economic Committee; a member of the Pascagoula Country Club, Senior Golf Group and Handicap Chairman.
Mr Wendt also served as an assistant minister and worship commission member with the Christus Victor Lutheran Church. In addition he was a former member and president of the Gautier Volunteer Fire Department and president of the Sandalwood Homeowners.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Wendt, and a brother, William Wendt.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara Wendt of Gautier, Miss.; two daughters, Lynn Husted (Glenn) of Sumrall, Miss. and Sheila Wendt of Mobile, Ala.; his mother, Florence Wendt; a brother, Terry (Charlotte) Wendt, both of Clover, S.C.; a sister, June (Ralph) Maggard of London, Ky.; two grandchildren, Amanda and Travis Husted, both of Sumrall, Miss.; longtime Navy friend, Wayne (Jane) Weatherford; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2004, at the O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Gautier, Miss.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Ocean Springs, Miss., with Rev. Julian Gordy officiating.
Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at the Biloxi National cemetery with Military Honors.
Pallbearers will be G.W. Beavers, Mel Cuevas, Heywood DeJean, Rick Florez, Mike Foster, Eugene Keaney, Sid Sundstrom and Billy Williams.

DUBOSE
Mr. Isadore "Bemo" Dubose Jr. was born
Jan. 13, 1941, to Isadore Dubose Sr. and Dolia-Taite Dubose in Monroeville, Ala. Isadore accepted Christ at an early age and united at First Baptist Church in Moss Point. He was a graduate of Magnolia High School Class of 1959. Then he moved to Los Angeles, Calif.
There he married
Beverly Jackson (high school sweethearts) of Moss Point, Miss., and together they reared four children. Isadore, affectionately known to some as "D-Daddy" and "Bemo" to others, was a kind and generous loving person, friendly to everyone. He enjoyed caring for his lawn, fishing, spending time with his grandkids, showing and playing tricks with them. He shared his home as a foster parent. He attended Abundant Living Family Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Isadore Dubose Sr. and Dolia Dubose Nep, and two brothers, Willie Herbert Dubose and James Edwards Dubose Sr.
On the morning of July 18, 2004, Isadore "Bemo" Dubose Jr. was called from labor to glory at Munroe Regional Medical Center in Ocala, Fla.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife and friend of 43 years, Beverly DuBose, Rialto, Calif.; children, Gale Crook, Victor (Maxcine) Dubose of Fontana, Calif., Bryant Dubose of Los Angeles, Calif., Eric (Leslie) Dubose of Enterprise, Ala.; stepmother, Lizzie Dubose of Moss Point, Miss.; two sisters, Jewel (Ruben) Fountain, Annette (Johnny) McCreary of Moss Point, Miss.; one brother, John Troy (Theresa) Dubose of Moss Point, Miss.; in-laws, Fannie Royster, Venora (George) Oliver, Watkins (Barbara) Jackson, Harvester Jackson, Raymond (Willie Mae) Jackson, all of California, Amos Jackson of Mexico, Alvin Jackson, Gaynell Paggett, Bunnie (Westly) Jones, Charles Jackson, all of Moss Point, Miss.; fifteen grandchildren, Levante, Tasia, Ronnie, Michael, Toccara, Kimyata, Victor Jr., Shamar, Eric Jr., Erica, Shavon, Leona, Isadore III, Joshua and Tomeka; three aunts, Mat (W.C) Slaughter of Moss Point, Bonnie Poe of California, aunt-in-law, Claudia DuBose of Moss Point; a devoted cousin, Charles (Dorothy) Dubose of Gautier, Miss.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Interment will be in Machpelah cemetery, Pascagoula, Miss.
