Lila Paulette Hall
PENSACOLA, Fla. — Lila Paulette Hall died Saturday, May 8, 2010, in Pensacola, Fla. She was 49.
Paulette was a native of Vicksburg and a 1979 graduate of Vicksburg High School, where she was a cheerleader and member of the National Honor Society. In her junior year, she competed in the state finals for Miss United Teenager and was selected by her teachers as state representative to Ole Miss.
Paulette studied dance under the direction of Amanda Swett for 14 years; at the Jackson Ballet Guild School under nationally recognized Thalia Mara; and in the summer months under the direction of Ole Fatum of the Royal Danish Ballet, Copenhagen Cella Serra. She then opened her own studio in Vicksburg, the Paulette Hall School of Dance, before moving to Jackson to pursue a career as a paralegal.
For the past 11 years, she had been making her home in Pensacola.
She is survived by her parents, George and Bea Hall and Donald and Bettye Antoine, all of Vicksburg; one sister, Janet H. Fernandez of Milton, Fla.; and two nephews and one niece.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Cedar Hill cemetery with the Rev. Brian Ivey officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Friday until the service.

Robert Dunbar Wade III
JACKSON — Robert Dunbar Wade III, 49, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Mr. Wade was born icon in Vicksburg and had lived in Jackson for the past 13 years. He was a member of Pinelake Church in Brandon and he enjoyed scuba diving and golf.
Mr. Wade was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Charlene Wade.
He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandra Wade Sassone and Anthony of Osyka, Miss., Kathy Wade Keathley and Bill of Gulfport, Debby Wade Shelton and Mack of Delhi, La., and Diane Wade Provance of Vicksburg. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and Diane Wade of Port Gibson.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Pinelake Church in Brandon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pinelake Church Benevolence Fund, 6071 Mississippi 25, Brandon, MS 39161 or CARA, 960 N. Flag Chapel Road, Jackson, MS 39209.

Marguerite N. McMahon
ROLLING FORK — Marguerite N. McMahon died June 19, 2010, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 100.
Mrs. McMahon had been a resident of Rolling Fork since 1930. She was a retired postmistress for the U.S. Postal Service in Grace, Miss., and a bookkeeper for Ali Dah Plantations. She was a member of the Rolling Fork United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas McMahon; a daughter, Evelyn M. Couturie; and a granddaughter, Michelle C. Betz.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Denise Peters and husband Jim of Broomfield, Colo., and Suzanne Chaix and husband Kenny Jr. and Thomas Couturie and wife, Andrea, all of New Orleans; six great-grandchildren, Mac Peters, Sophia Peters, Cherie Chaix, Kenny Chaix III, Carly Skinner and Cassidy Betz; one great-great-grandson, Kamden Skinner.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rolling Fork United Methodist Church with the Rev. Beth Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Mound cemetery in Rolling Fork. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home and Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Chaix Jr., Kenny Chaix III, Jim Peters, Thomas Couturie, Robert Martin, Thomas McMahon, Matt McMahon and Wayne Tenhet.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry McMahon, Frank Corban, Dr. Danny Jackson and Dr. Michael Baker.

Dorothy Graham Butts
Dorothy Graham Butts, 91, of Eagle Lake died Sunday, June 20, 2010, in Vicksburg after a long illness.
Mrs. Butts was born icon at Milldale in Redwood on May 5, 1919. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Butts; her parents, Lawrence and Robbie Graham; and her sister Evelyn Graham Whitaker. She was a graduate of Oak Ridge High School and lifelong resident of Warren County.
After the death of her husband in 1964, Mrs. Butts moved to the Eagle Lake community and continued his farming operation at a time when women farmers were mostly nonexistent. Her farming operations primarily included raising cattle, cotton, corn and soybeans. She established a record of highest cotton yield in Warren County.
Mrs. Butts was active in many farming organizations during her farming years, including the Soil Conservation Committee, the County Farmers Home Administration Committee and Farm Bureau of which she was the first woman in Mississippi to be elected a county Farm Bureau president. She continued to serve as a member of the board for a number of years.
Dorothy Butts was a member of Redwood Methodist Church and active in Eagle Lake Methodist Church, serving as pianist and Sunday school teacher for many years as well as many other leadership positions. She was the past president of Eagle Lake Community and an active member for many years.
Mrs. Butts is survived by her children, George Allen Butts and Kathy Butts Terry; and her grandchildren, Jennifer Cooper, Tracy Davis and Cody Butts; and great-grandchildren, Bryce Ashley, Jordan Cooper and Abigayle Davis.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Sibley, pastor of Eagle Lake Baptist Church, and Deacon B.J. Shows of Eagle Lake Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Milldale cemetery in Redwood. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to The Palmer Home for Children.

Dr. Manmohan Singh Dhaliwal
MONROE, La. — Dr. Manmohan Singh Dhaliwal died Monday, June 21, 2010, at his home in Monroe, La. He was 85.
Dr. Dhaliwal was born icon in Samundari, Lyallpur, India, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lyallpur College and Bachelor of Education and Master of Arts degrees from Delhi University. He also received a doctor of philosophy degree from Utah State University. From 1967 until his retirement in 1993, he was a professor of social sciences at Alcorn State University.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dr. Kailash K. Dhaliwal of Monroe; two sons, Mahinderpal “Paul” Dhaliwal and Karminderpal “Karl” Dhaliwal, both of Monroe; two brothers, Dr. Amrik S. Dhaliwal of New Jersey and Gurdip S. Dhaliwal of Los Angeles; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services were June 23, 2010, according to Sikh religious rites at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe.

Sherlia R. Johnson
HERMANVILLE — Sherlia R. Johnson died Friday, June 25, 2010, at Patient’s Choice Hospice in Port Gibson. She was 57.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Pleasant Green M.B. Church in Barlow.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Clara Thomas-Edwards; two brothers, Junior Sayles and Louis Sayles; and one sister, Bernice Edwards.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Johnson of Hermanville; four sons, Henry Johnson Jr., Frederick Johnson and Shanga Ali Johnson, all of Hermanville, and Jeffery Johnson of Clinton; four daughters, Tykunia Johnson and Danita Johnson, both of Hermanville, Jackie Pruy of Hazlehurst and Tanya Wilson of Port Gibson; three brothers, Robert Edwards and Brazil Sayles, both of Hermanville, and W.L. Edwards of Milwaukee, Wis.; four sisters, Dorothy Barnes and Elsie Sayles, both of Hermanville, and Hazel Dixon and Annie Mae McInnis, both of Jackson; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Lou Ella Johnson of Hermanville.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant Green M.B. Church with the Rev. Johnny Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.

Dr. Frank Taylor McPherson
Dr. Frank Taylor McPherson, retired surgeon, passed away July 3, 2010, at home. Dr. McPherson was born icon July 7, 1931, in Marks, MS. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 1949, where he was class president all four years, valedictorian, a member of the award-winning debate team, football letterman and an Eagle Scout.
In 1952, Dr. McPherson graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.S. degree in chemistry. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, ROTC, Scabbard & Blade and ODK Honor Society.
He graduated with honors from Tulane Medical School in 1956, and began his internship at Charity Hospital of Louisiana. He completed a five-year residency at Ochsner Clinic and Foundation Hospital of New Orleans in general surgery and colon, rectal surgery. During his last year, he served as chief resident and instructor of surgery at Tulane. He then served two years in the U.S. Air Force as chief of surgery at Nelles Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nev.
In 1964, Dr. McPherson joined The Street Clinic in Vicksburg, where he practiced as a general surgeon until his retirement. During his career, he served as chief of staff of Mercy Hospital, president of West Mississippi Medical Society, a fellow in the American College of Surgeons, a diplomat of The American College of Surgeons, member of The Street Foundation, and president of the Vicksburg Chapter of the Mississippi State Alumni Association. Upon retirement he, along with the Rev. Bill Watkins, organized a charity medical clinic at Good Shepherd Community Center.
A member of Crawford Street United Methodist church, Dr. McPherson served on the administrative board, finance committee and a mission team to Jamaica. Along with being an avid supporter of Mississippi State, he enjoyed hunting and golfing with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Joyce and Nadine Tatum McPherson of Cleveland; and a brother, John William McPherson of Indianola.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joyce Harris McPherson of Vicksburg; son, Dr. Scott (Sandee) McPherson of Jackson; son, Jeff (Tracie) McPherson of Madison; and daughter, Susan (Chris) Barnett of Vicksburg. He also is survived by seven grandchildren: Allison, Hunter, Cole, and Madeline McPherson of Jackson; Mary Margaret and Anne Tatum McPherson of Madison; Jason Bishop of Vicksburg; and a sister-in-law Georgia Ann McPherson of Indianola, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 6, at Crawford Street United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Green Acres cemetery. Visitations will be from 5 until 7 Monday at Riles Funeral Home and one hour preceding the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Chris Barnett, Jason Bishop, Nelson Gibson, Col. Bradly MacNealy, Bill McPherson, Cole McPherson and Hunter McPherson

Dawn Hilderbrand
Dawn Hilderbrand died Monday, May 3, 2010, at University of Mississippi Medical Center. She was 36.
born in Vicksburg, she was a graduate of Vicksburg High School and was a licensed cosmetologist. She was an insurance clerk with River Region Medical Center and a member of Living by the Word Fellowship Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, John-Dustin Hilderbrand; and her grandparents, Henry G. Barfield, Cornelia B. Powell and Clayton H. Powell Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Evie Hilderbrand of Vicksburg; her parents, Wanda and Jon Perrier of Diamondhead and Jerry and Velma Powell of Pearl; two brothers, Kelly Powell of Jackson and Dustin Powell of Memphis; one sister, Samantha Powell of Pearl; grandparents, Dorothy Barfield of Addison, Texas, and Janice Perrier and Ralph Sr. and Velma Stevens, all of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Frederic, pastor of the Living by the Word Fellowship Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Friday until the service.
Memorials may be made to the Dawn Hilderbrand Memorial Fund for Evie Hilderbrand, c, o Mutual Credit Union, 1604 Cherry St., Vicksburg, MS 39180.

PEETZ
Marcheta (Keet) Lee Peetz, age 74, of Pascagoula, Miss., died April 4, 2002, in Pascagoula. She was born, Dec. 21, 1927, in El Dorado, Ark. Mrs. Peetz retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding as an executive secretary. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Pascagoula. She was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit #160, where she served as president of the unit, state president of the Department of Mississippi and one year as a national executive committee woman. In addition, she served on multiple American Legion Auxiliary National Committees and she is listed in the Who's Who of Mississippi. She was a member of the Women's International Bowling Association. The "Joe &Keet Peetz" Legion Annex is proudly dedicated in her honor. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Joe Peetz of Pascagoula; one daughter, Mary Rebecca Hart of Pascagoula; one son, John Douglas Peetz of Atlanta, Ga.; one granddaughter, Kimberly; and two great-grandchildren, Kier and Keisha; one sister, Nita Jones of Fort Worth, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

COLEMAN
"Let not your heart be troubled: Ye Believe in God, Believe Also in Me." John 14:1 Ms. Delena Jackson Coleman departed this life for eternal rest on Tuesday, April 2, 2002. She was born icon May 29, 1931, in New Orleans, La., to the late Joseph Jackson and Delena Bilbo Jackson. Her parents were devoted, religious, hard working parents and instilled the same in all their children. At an early age, she received the Lord as her personal savior at New Era Baptist Church. She had a steadfast belief in God throughout her life. She was a very encouraging, supporting, kind and loving person. She served as a faithful member of the Usher Board, the Mission Board, and Pastor's Aide Church Organizations.
